The first step is to look for a financial institution in Canada that provides student loans.
You can do this by searching via the Internet.

You may compare banks to see which one has the most favorable interest rate and repayment period.

You may then send an email to these banks to ascertain how they go about providing loans to students.

They will give you all the info you need.


But note:

One thing is accessing loan, another thing is writing a very convincing SOP.

So, you have a lot of things to think about.

I am not overly fond of replying emails, so I will put it out here for everyone to see.

For those who want to access/secure student loans, please take note of these few points.

1. I don't know any local financial institutions that provide student loans... It doesn't seem like it's Nigeria's style.

2. Foreign banks that provide student loans are divided into two types
a. Those who require cosignors (i.e. guarantors) and therefore collaterals
b. Those who require evidence of superb academic transcript (e.g. Mpower)

Option 'a' has a lower interest rate, but your cosignors must reside in Canada

Option 'b' has a higher interest rate, but no cosignor is required.

Option 'a' is not very common because most people are not ready to take the risk of being cosignors.

Option 'b' is rare because the interest rate is high, and not many students are chosen based on less satisfactory academic records.

1. Most Post Graduate Certificate Programs have 1 year duration. Unless some few courses with 2 years. You can apply with the 1 year duration program and at the completion of your studies, you can apply for study permit extension within Canada to pursue another 1 year program. This will make you eligible for 3 years PGWP after studies.

2. There are no student loan or funding for post graudate certificate programs.


3. Upon the completion of your studies in Canada, you will be awarded a Canadian degree which increases your CRS score to dive into the Express Entry pool. In addition to your work experience in Nigeria and a good IELTS/CELPIP score, you will be given an ITA. On the other hand, you can also qualify to apply for PR under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) if your one or two years Canadian work experience falls under the NOC Skill Level 0, NOC Skill Level A or NOC Skill Level B.

My straightforward advice for you is to apply for a program that is higher than your already acquired degree. In essence, going for an advanced diploma dramatically reduces your chances of convincing the visa officer than you're a genuine student. With your vast 17 years work experience, you should be qualified for a Master's program if you adequately prepare your SOP for graduate admission. Again, its highly recommended that you should apply alone while your spouse and kids accompany you through the SOWP and visitor's (depending on the age of your kids).

Please i have this question as to after studies, canadian government give PGWP for 1year if course taken is 1year (PG CERT), but give PGWP for 3years when course taken is 2years. My question is,

1. How do one go about getting PG CERT for 2years cos most one ive seen is 1year

2. Please have been curious is there a way for getting funding or student loan ?

3. How does CRS, ITA and Nomination work after study.

Hello House, I'm a newbie and I have followed the Canada visa trend 16, 17 and 18.
And I'm very impressed at the way information and support is given.

I am interested in migrating thru the study path. I havent applied yet to any school
I am a 27years old male, with lower credit in HND in computer engineering with CGPA 2.61

1. Do i have chances of going for a master degree
2. If No can opt for a Pgd (graduate certificate or diploma)

Each school has their own unique application process and requirements so you have a lot of research to do. How do you find scholarships? Well, Google is your friend. You're an international student so you should know the keywords to input while doing your research. A lot of factors come into play when you're seeking a scholarship- your age, your leadership experience, involvement in community services, background and so on.

Just start from somewhere. You can also ask yourself some sincere questions to avoid wasting your own time. How old are you? How long have you been out of high school? Do you have the money to process this? (Even if you get a full ride, you still have to pay for a lot of things out of pocket) Do you have alternatives in case this fails? Are you motivated enough to score high on the SAT? Do you have a support system to aid you?

This is very simple. How about you post the names of schools that accept HND, and the page specifying this. A well established school would not accept this, at least not until you complete a PGD or something. HAND is not equivalent to BSc, as such any school with some reputation will not accept you directly. Perhaps with certain academic conditions.

Don't come here and rap shit... Make your research bro... Alot of my friends are there doing their masters with HND and i got mine admission too, can send you my admission letter... The school not even a private but a government owned one...
