Come on now. Even a non Chelsea fan should know this. James plays as a RCB or an inverted full back cos of his fitness concerns. He's been struggling for fitness for years, so the coach has sought to protect him by using him in positions that are not as demanding as his normal position. It was only very recently that he started moving forward regularly, and you could see the outcome against Man U and Brighton.

If you genuinely believe James is playing RCB or midfield because MALO GUSTO has chased him there, omo I dont know what to tell you 😂

Maresca’s biggest problem is his lack of confidence in moment of crisis.
Against Manchester United, once Chelsea went down to 10 men, he immediately withdrew all his attackers for defenders, sending the wrong signal to both his players and the opposing team . You can’t defend for 80 minutes without committing an error.
The same happened against Brighton today , after another red card, he again sacrificed his attackers for defenders, leaving the team with a weak striking force and inviting constant pressure.
In football, mentality is half the battle. By pulling all attackers and going into a defending mode, you are showing your weak point to the enemy. And of course, once your opponent sees it, they will exploit it. Top managers find ways to project strength even in difficult circumstances, Maresca’s approach has been the opposite.
This is what happened in both games.

I like him , but his weakness mindset in managing crisis makes him unsuitable for a club with Chelsea’s ambitions. If Chelsea truly want to win the Premier League, they need a manager with boldness, belief, and a fearless winning mentality.
To be fair, Maresca may still win cup trophies but the Premier League is different. To win the league, you need bravery, consistency, and the ability to impose your style across 38 games week in week out, but with this kind of weak mentality, even if he stays at Chelsea for 20 years, Maresca will not win a single EPL title.
