PilotHope: Hello. I just finished my degree this last December in Malaysia. Graduated with a First Class Honours,Business Administration, University of Hertfordhsire, UK (offered at INTI College Sarawak). I speak fluently four languages: English, French, Mandarin and Igbo. I also have an academic knowledge of Latin, having scored Grade A1 in Diploma in Latin from Pontifical University, Rome. In my O-Level, I took all science courses and scored all A's and B's with an only C4 as my lowest grade. I want to move to Australia for either work or for pursuance of my Masters.
My questions are these: 1. Can I find work in Australia from here in Malaysia (should be marketing, sales, public speaking or even language teaching jobs)
2. If I go for my masters, can I get a scholarship based on my stellar previous academic performances?
3. Or can I get a part-time job that can pay my tuition in some schools for either an MBA or a Master of Science in Information technology?

Thank you. I would love friends who live in Australia to help me.

Congratulations on your achievements. you have done well for yourself. I am not sure if i will be able to answer your questions, but so far,i know there is a graduate visa you can apply for. Jenny may be able to tell you more.
but one thing am most certain of is, if you arrive here, most international/ multinational companies i have seen so far require that you upload your school transcripts and with what you have, i think it is a definite catch.

Good luck with everything.

My brother, me no worry again o; I just wan tow 'Dr J's' line, even though she did her 2nd degree there. Right now, I am thinking of doing like uncle cconcept by going for doctoral program if I were to successfully do Masters elsewhere, even if in Nigeria.
@cconcept, do they do Masters by research in Nigeria?

Hiya, I did not do my second degree in Australia physically, but accredited to an Australian Uni.. so na same same i guess smiley

jennykadry: You's won't understand, not everyone gets a second chance in life. I got one and I am grateful to God. I have not stopped crying and thanking him, I laid on the ground on the streets thanking him. No one would have experienced what I experienced and come out of it alive without a single scratch.

I had an accident recently whilst driving on 110k/hr. My car tumbled (according to passersby) a few times before it stopped. Al I could remember was me screaming "Jesus,Jesus Jesus" as it tumbled and for a second I thought I was dead. Cars stopped and someone called the ambulance, I was in tears and all I asked them to do for me was call my NOK. Helicopters came to airlift me from the scene of accident and fire trucks came incase the car exploded. I was able to get out of the car with the help of the people that gathered around. When I jumped out of the car I heard people say "this is a miracle".

Got to the hospital and everything was fine. Left the hospital after a few hours. Whether you believe in God or not, join me in thanking him.

wow.... I am happy for you and thankful that no major damage was done..

Yeah Mt Helen as well..I've started the online application.I have an unofficial Transcript because the original won't be in until October or November, so could I just notarize that with other documents. That my B.Sc Transcript will be the only unofficial and not original document or should I scramble for anything from my school and wait I do that?I will do the IETLS, so always not to have any road bumps with the Embassy.I will register in May against late August test date in Abuja.Am looking at Feb 2014 start date. Thanks so much with those responses.

I like your 'not fire brigade' approach, you are planing and this is good and i am sure it will be a hitch free application. I think you should get your transcripts notorised from your department, they can also write a letter that you have completed your studies and say attached is the unofficial transcripts, your HOD can write if you are cool with him/her. make sure you notorise all documents, the school will only ask you to send a scanned copy, no need to mail anything to them.

Go ahead with the IELTS, i didn't do it, so i have no advice on how to prepare for it.

Good luck

@drjulian

I have been asked to contact people offline and I refused. Whatever they have to say should be posted here, cos everyone is here to learn. I don't support offline contacts re Aussie visa. Nothing is shady here, let people state their purpose on this thread

I understand your point of views, but there are some things that are actually personal and not easy to discuss openly, although it seem unfair, we should probably just put it out here, but i think writing a statement of purpose is a bit personal, and some people might just copy and paste what is written here without having anything to do with their own situation and giving the case officer a look. Let's try to put it here, but statement of purpose, I am willing to help edit privately for anyone interested.

[quote author=jennykadry]^^^^ it is not about talking your way out of IELTS. If it is needed for your course of study there is no talking your way out of it, reason being you are not the only student in that school neither are you from the few recognized English speaking countries.

I actually did. didn't take IELTS for my 2nd and current 3rd degree, i could be very persuasive smiley but you are right though, if the school need it, you will provide it, I just didn't do it.

I believe u did IETLS.Do these people use English language more than us? Hey did you pay the 20K at once b4 COE was sent and any application fee? Am looking at their Master of Information Technology.

No i didn't do IELTS, i always talk my way out of it, it is a waste of time in my opinion, but necessary though and yes they use english lol, it is an english speaking country. i paid approximately $12,000 before the COE was issued, no application fees either. what campus will the Master of IT be in? am in Mt. Helen and it is huge.
good luck with the application

hope this helps

Americanvisa: @dr julaiana, apart from what is listed in the application for student visa checklist,is there any other documents you added or that you can advice us to add to make it a successful application

not much really after the requirements, but i think the question you need to take time to answer is what will you do after your studies, i think it has options of if you have employment waiting for you etc, choose your words carefully here.

one thing i usually do when applying for a visa is write a statement of purpose, this letter addresses why you intend to travel and introduce yourself. it should be comprehensive and well written, maximum 2 A4 pages (double space). when an officer read this, he/she has a quick understanding of what your application is all about and easy to assess you.

if you send a brief intro, i can help you with a letter and any other person interested

hope this helps

cconcept: Dr Juliana,
Please share your experience on phd study application and admission for those of us interested in that level of education-funding, supervisor etc

hello, i have actually read one of your questions regarding the process. well, the issue with phd studies is supervison, and the reality is some professors are lazy to take on other/more students for supervision, my MBA is from an Australian university, University of SOuthern Queensland, but after studies and i wanted to do my DBA, they said no supervisor in my AOC. so i looked for a school that combined coursework + Thesis, these schools do not have a choice than to make a supervisor available to you, check University of Ballarat if they offer what you want, school is a bit pricey though lipsrsealed . my tuition is 20k per year and i have 2 and half years to go (do the math tongue )

The process is easy, some school require that you write a research proposal, but i didn't for ballarat, then all documents + transcripts sent to the Uni, in my case they all had to be notorised. thats pretty much it. offer letter-----> accept------> pay------> Coe-------> apply for visa + supporting documents.

hope this helps

detoun82: Congrats Dr Julianna! How's Ballarat? It's not too far from Melbourne so u can always come in to the city on weekends and holidays if u want. I understand what u mean about that jetlag o! That journey is no small thing but it's well worth it.I'm looking forward to being back in Melbourne soon! Good luck in your program and perhaps we see when I get in ; ). My advice is keep a very open mind, mingle and mix with people from other cultures as well because u need that network for social activities and job referrals and choose your friends wisely. Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice smiley .. no be small thing really, lived in Asia before, but los to mel no be beans lol. please let me know when you arrive, am just an hr + away from melbourne/

thats very good, thanks for this info, pls how long did it take to grant u visa.Pls i will like to ask in the financial aspect,if my one year tuition is like 11k dollars,my living expenses for couple is 24761,total now is 35,760,may be i have like 35k dollars at d time of application, what will you advice me,should i discontinue with the application or to go on,am going for TAFE program with my wife, both both of us are graduates, what do you think about our chances

I wouldn't call myself an expert on these things, but having travelled alot with countless visa applications, I will say go for it. It took 4 weeks to process my application exactly.
Good luck, I really don't think $760 is a deal breaker. All the best

Hello all prospective candidates..
I have been stalking this page for the last 1 month, although I did not contribute because I was applying myself and didn't want to jinx my application by telling it out on the web (lol.... confirm yoruba girl)

Any way, I am pleased to annouce to all that I arrived in Australia Yesterday and it wasn't easy it is a long wait for the visa application process and I will like to correct some notion here.

first, what many people worry about is are we treated as SVP applicants or otherwise because of the long wait for people who actually got theres? well the honest answer is Yes and No.

in my own case, i like to accelerate things and actualy did my medicals 2 days before i submitted my application, so when the embassy finally got my application, my medicals was already there. please note that they do not process medicals from nigeria applicants in South Africa, they actually send it off to sydney, there is a private or not so private clinic that does that, so my medicals were sent to them just 2 days after they processed my application (That is if they actually process medicals in south africa, visa should be ready in the stipulated 10 working days).

after 3 weeks of submittion, I was calling the embassy everyday (please do not do this if you do not have a good telephone skills because you may come up as a pest grin) for me I wasn't bothered and one of those calls, i actually spoke with my case officer and he kinda gave me the hint everything was okay and just waiting on medicals.

so, got the visa on friday, am off on sunday and arrived in Australia monday night. for everyone waiting for their visas or got theirs.. Etihad is the way to go and please make sure you travel when they do not quote sily stop overs because it is a long trip and very tiring.

Although I have been to australia previously 4 years ago, the country is still as it is, all I can say is good good.

I will be attending University of Ballarat for my doctorate degree... but I am going to sleep for at least one week... (school started yesterday monday, they can wait for me grin )

Good luck to everyone.

(oh, one question i was hoping that someone would ask while i stalk this page was, what time of the day did they send the visa, so that i dont jump out of my skin every time i have a email notification on my phone... the time for me was 9am. wink )
