No honestly, I love playing with you guys emotions. I cannot believe that people are practising occultism in 2008. Truth be told, I have always rated Mourinho as a great manager - but not a special one. I rank him with the other great managers. But since I came to Nairaland, I have adopted an anti-Jose stance to provide a counterbalance to the story, since so many people here worship at the cult of Jose Mourinho. I expect better rationale from grown-up individuals. Jose has his flaws just like any other manager. Must you defend his every flaw? Is he a demi-god?

First, are his good qualities - the ability to organise the team, ability to inspire his players, ability to put the fear of shege in his players, tactical awareness, good discipline, good physical conditioning of the team, winning mentality, good use of the media, etc.

At the same time Jose's flaws are quite easy to see - a lack of flair, a greed culture at Chelsea, not caring for Chelsea's balance sheet, wasting money on dud players, marginalising fringe players, and a fractious personality who blames everything but himself for defeat (Rijkaard, Anders Frisk, Luis Garcia, Boulahrouz, Sheva, Arnesen, Ferreira, Geremi, injuries, red cards, Reading Ambulance service, eggs, omelettes, Waitrose etc). The last time I bought his excuses was when we lost to Liverpool in CL in 2007 after playing horrible football and looking completely bereft of any attacking ideas - and he tried to say the best team lost.


"You know, omelettes, eggs? If you have no eggs, you have no omelette. And it depends upon the the quality of the eggs. In the supermarket you have Class One, Two and Three eggs. Some are more expensive and make better omelettes. So when Class One eggs are in Waitrose and you cannot go there, you have a problem"



Yeah - SWP, Malouda and Ferreira were class one eggs alright, despite their Waitrose prices.


I can also talk about AW and SAF's good and bad points - yet, you will not see any Woman Utd or Arse fan in a hurry to shout me down for pointing out their managers flaws. Is this because a cult of personality has been built around Jose? Why are grown men's minds so malleable? Can mind-control be practiced over the TV airwaves? If so, Jose Mourinho should be Guru Maharaji because he got Ako and a few others hanging on his every word.


A Chelsea fan once told me that Jose is a one-trick pony. I corrected him - I said Jose is like a Business Manager you bring in when a company is sick and failing. He comes in with a heavy hand, whips employees into shape, cuts costs, sells off unproductive assets, lays a few people off and generally streamlines the business. He turns the business around into a successful business. Then he moves on - because you cannot motivate people endlessly using the same heavy handed approach. Players get tired of the same thing all the time. There is only so much blood they can sweat. After that, you need real flair players to keep the team winning. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo allow players like Owen Hargreaves to have a rest and take it easy every now and then because not every game is a fight to the end. Unfortunately, this is not Jose's style of play.


Hence, I predict that Jose will always be a short term fix and will never last more than 5 years at any club. I say this not only because of his management style but because he has fallen out with his previous employers, from Benfica to Porto to Chelsea to Barcelona. Throw in his spats with Cruyff, Benitez, Scolari, Rijkaard etc and you begin to build a psychological profile of a fractious personality who struggles to maintain long term working relationships. Hence, I believe his cycle at Chelsea was over. I have been at Chelsea long before Jose and I will support Chelsea long after Jose and thank God I have seen many managers so no publicity stunt can fool me. Maybe we suffer from 'hero' syndrome at Chelsea since we have been so starved of success. At InterMilan, Jose is nothing but a new manager. They have won the league three times in a row, therefore they will not trip for anything other than a Champions League win. Jose is a great manager, not an infallible being. Meanwhile, I wonder who Akola will support when we play InterMilan in the Champions League?

A team of men of the State Security Service (SSS) visited the NIPSS today to effect the arrest of Nuhu Ribadu, an SSS source told Saharareporters that the Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) is personally handling Nuhu Ribadu's case. The team visited the office of the acting DG of NIPSS today to announce their presence and mission, it is unknown if Rubadu has been arrested as at the time of publishing this report.

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, has been demoted down two ranks by the Nigeria Police force, his principal employer.

The former EFCC chairman, who became an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) two years ago, is being demoted by the police authorities because of his arrest and detention of James Ibori, the former governor of Delta State. Although facing prosecution for corruption, Ibori has grown increasingly influential with the government of Umaru Yar’Adua. Only last Friday, for instance, Yar’Adua appointed David Edevbie, Ibori’s former finance commissioner, as his Principal Secretary. It is also known that the Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro, was sponsored to leadership of the Force by Ibori.

Saharareporters had reported that plans were afoot to demote Ribadu and withdraw him from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) where he has been a student since February this year when he was controversially removed as the EFCC chairman.

Nuhu Ribadu has since disappeared from public view, but reliable sources told Saharareporters that two powerful politicians, Ibori and Bukola Saraki, never lost sight of him. They have worked with the Inspector General of Police and Yar'adua, who sources said, held Ribadu responsible for a series of media attacks on the illegitimacy of his government. With his demotion, analysts say Ribadu may be in for a prolonged season of humiliation, ridicule and endangerment.
