REASONS WHY YOU PROCRASTINATE. Have you ever thought of the reasons for doing pleasurable things that won’t make any significant difference in your future at the expense of things with immense value? It has been estimated that one-fifth of adults and half of students procrastinate. This act is a thief of time that tends to stay glue to make life worthless. Only a few persons make judicious use of this scarce resource (TIME) while the vast majority of others, like you keep giving excuses. Why do we do it? If your self-worth is tied to your level of achievement, then you may constantly question yourself about how much you do, must do to be good enough. Lack of interest: This plays a role in procrastination. All students from time to time lack interest in a course or subject, however, not all of these student’s delay in studying or completing assignments but most students do that. Once you take a task as boring, definitely to achieve or accomplish it will take time if possibly attempted. Perfectionism: Fear of failure is another reason people procrastinate. It goes with something like this; if I really try hard and fail, that is worse than if I don’t try and end up failing. They payoff procrastination to protect “real” failure. As long as you do not put 100% effort into your work, you will not find out what your true capabilities. Skills deficit: This is one of the most basic reasons for procrastination. If you lack the skills to complete certain task, it is only natural to avoid doing them. Example, you may be a slow reader, if you have several lengthy articles to read before you can write a paper, you may postpone the reading because it is difficult.
