If you watched Ghana's first game, you would have written them off. Yet, they topped the group. USA 94, Italy group games, , you would have written them off.

Argentina came with one of the most talented team but they are going home.

Even against brazil we lost due to individual errors not a fantastic Brazilian display. Once the Nigerian team settles, they will be difficult to beat.
you are right sir. Even the Ghanian team to the last under 20 world cup lost the first two games. Yet they won bronze medal.

Thank God this is the first. Now we are back to reality, no more disneyland fairytale.
U20 world cup na another level entirely. Mehn, this brazilians that were supposed to be weak completely outclassed and outplayed us in the second half. No response at all from our team. Keeper contributed a lot to this defeat.

The brazilians really surprised me. I have read so many predictions but these guys showed us why they are 5 times champion.

But no shaking. We must win our next 2 matches and we are back on track.
You are right jare. Make i Just console myself first. Its better to lose the first match to brazil and win the final against them. Abi she he no dey happen for football.

You are right. But many of us did not see the tactical error coming at all. If you followed my posts, I gave my reservations immediately I saw the line up.

This was not the tactics we expected. We were undone by the coach
Manu caused it all. Tactics and substitutions were wrong.

In this Google generation you are asking for source huh. ... I have closely followed this team since their genesis... In all matches played till date including all friendlies.. Isaac is the highest goal scorer with over 70 goals... Yes!. . You saw that right.. OVER SEVENTY GOALS.. . Kelechi is the second highest goal score with circa 56 goals... . Taiwo rarely even had opportunity to play game.. He has managed circa 17 goals for this team in all official matches and friendlies...

Taiwo is good... But NO ONE has delivered the goods more for this team than Success..

If you have your doubts Google is you friend... . Feel free to provide ANY stats that seems to debunk these facts
Maybe i dont belong to that generation. Can u kindly show me. Tanx.

Awoniyi has to score 48 goals more for this team to equal Isaac's record..... Maybe this will help those '' anti-isaac'' get a glimpse of the reputation the guy has in this team since the team's genesis.
Bros- pls r source or else i wont believe this.

I have always respected success as a striker anyway. He looks like a much younger samuel etoo

Let me ask you a question.

If you want to eat dinner and you send a Tiger and a pet cat to go hunting for you. And the tiger comes home with an ordinary bush rat instead of a big antelope or deer. Will you be pleased with it?

But if the pet cat comes home with 2 squirells will you not be happy with it?

My point, the quality of tool at your disposal determines the result you get.

If Keshi is satisfiee with the draw, it is because he knew the quality of the boys he worked and what to expect. Or do you expect him to perform magic?
Bros i no gree with this r comment at all. Do u want to tell me that there are no better players in Naija than the one keshi chose and used for the match.

USA avoid Myanmar mishap

USA picked up their first win in four FIFA U-20 World Cup matches to secure the perfect start to New Zealand 2015 with a 2-1 win over Myanmar.

It looked like there could be an upset on the cards after Yan Naing Oo scored the tournament's opening goal, but strikes from Maki Tall and captain Emerson Hyndman meant the Stars and Stripes would top Group A after the first round of games.

USA were slow out of the blocks and the Asian underdogs were quick to take advantage, roared on by a supportive crowd at the Northland Events Centre. Htike Htike Aug tested Zack Steffen inside six minutes with a long-range effort.

The Freiburg goalkeeper was picking the ball out of his net soon after though. A whipped corner caused chaos at the near post and, after some shin-pinball in the six-yard box, Yan Naing Oo stabbed home – celebrated by the tournament debutants with a sideline line dance.

The jovial mood soon subsided as USA regained their footing. A steady increase in pressure saw Kellyn Perry-Acosta's cross scrambled behind for a corner, but captain Emerson Hyndman's dead-ball was clinical. Cameron Carter-Vickers' flick-on made its way to the back post, where Maki Tall was on hand to volley into the roof of the net.

Rubio Rubin squandered a fine chance to double the Star and Stripes' lead, miscuing from eight yards out, before he caused Myo Min Latt in the Myanmar goal a lot more trouble with an impressive overhead kick.

After ending on a high, USA returned from the break full of vigour, with Rubin heading over before then feeding Acosta, only to see the latter's sliding effort trickle inches wide of an open goal. The pressure told after ten minutes, however. A slick Myanmar attack was hit by an even slicker counter, led by Rubin, before the ball was laid on for Hyndman to slot home.

What followed was a composed performance from Tab Ramos' side, controlling the play in a fashion that had largely deserted them in the first half. With the clock ticking down Myanmar pushed for an equaliser, with captain Nanda Kyaw's long-range effort lifting the crowd.

While Gerd Ziese's side had the USA worried, with Mg Mg Lwin setting a few pulses racing, it was not enough to earn them a point. USA will look to secure passage to the Round of 16 against hosts New Zealand, while Myanmar will hope to bounce back against Ukraine.

Panama deny Correa-inspired Argentina

Panama twice battled back from behind to claim a 2-2 draw against Argentina in an entertaining Group B opener at Wellington's Regional Stadium. The Panamanians' dogged refusal to accept defeat stole the headlines that would otherwise have belonged to Angel Correa, the Albiceleste star who bagged a brace.

Correa arrived in New Zealand hotly tipped to be among the tournament's big stars and he more than lived up to his billing with an outstanding individual display. Certainly, when Argentina took the lead in 14 minutes, it was no surprise that the Atletico Madrid forward was the scorer, firing home expertly from eight yards after latching on to a cross from Tomas Martinez.

The goal was no more than Argentina deserved, and they continued to dominate. Panama, though, remained dangerous at the other end and just six minutes later they equalised with an early contender for goal of the tournament. Jhamal Rodriguez was the goalscorer, having picked up the ball in a seemingly harmless position only to turn and smash an unstoppable right-foot shot high into the top corner from 25 yards.

It was a goal worthy of gracing any World Cup and, for a long time, it appeared that this would be the strike that would earn Panama a hard-earned share of the spoils. As it was, they had to work a little harder for their draw because Correa again popped up - this time with just ten minutes remaining - to inch Argentina in front. On this occasion, his goal was all about opportunism as he snatched on an error by goalkeeper Jaime De Gracia to knock the ball into the unguarded net from 16 yards.

But Panama weren't ready to accept their seemingly certain fate and just four minutes later they again restored parity. Fabio Escobar was their hero, bursting through on to Carlos Small cross to meet the ball on the half-volley and hammer a shot into the back of the net.

The underdogs could even have gone on to win it when Small missed the target after racing clean through, but they will be thrilled with a point that leaves them well placed in a section that also includes Ghana and Austria.
