Education › Re: BREAKING NEWS: Judge Rules In Favour Of Jambites Against Jamb And Unilag by DrSage(m): 7:31pm On Jul 28, 2015 |
CuteMaryJ: Good day everyone, and big congrats to all aspiring undergraduates that were affected in the new jamb eligibility regulation.
I can assure you all that the matter has been resolved as we have finally gotten an order from the Federal High court, compelling Unilag and Jamb to include any students that scored 200marks &above. Other universities have also effected the change.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has repealed its earlier decision to redistribute candidates that sat for this year’s exams to institutions they (candidates) did not initially choose while filling their forms. JAMB has come under criticisms lately since it announced the plan. Some days ago, some candidates who chose the University of Lagos, UNILAG, and their parents staged a peaceful protest in Lagos both at Unilag and the Federal High Court.
Professor Dibu Ojerinde, JAMB Registrar, had explained that the redistribution was to help cushion the effect of spill overs from top class institutions, which insist on not reducing their cut off marks, including UNILAG. JAMB had announced cut off marks of 180 for universities in the country, while 150 for polytechnics and colleges of education. But the body has now rescinded its decision and has asked candidates to proceed to their first choice of institution for their post-UME exams following the court's verdict.
Though I wasn't in Lagos to attend the hearing but my reliable source says the judge delivered his judgement at exactly 12.20pm today & asked both Jamb & Unilag to revert its sudden policy wit immediate effect. A copy of d judgement has also been released.
More news on this will be updated. Big shoutout to everyone that lent a voice and those that participated in the protes. Special thanks goes to lalasticlala, Venus007, RobinHez, Pukka36, ifeooye, Teempakguy, Brytawon, DrSage, FORUMgod, Seuncoded and so many more.

CuteMaryJ: I really don't know Jamb's yardstick in singling out these 5 universities, but I'm sure it's due to their popularity and the amount of people that love to go there. You know most private universities don't have candidates, so it seems Jamb wants to just pluck out some candidatea and dump in the private universities. But what happens when the parents cannot afford to pay? The candidate ends up losing gis/her admission automatically. Injustice! hmmm tenkz fr d info tho |

CuteMaryJ: That is another big problem now. Without any explanation again, they simply said we should contact Jamb but how do we contact Jamb? They just posted the news on their website some hours ago. hmmm dis system is quite strange. u talked about d top 5 universities in ur previous post,Is it according to hw dey were picked in jamb or the normal ranking of universities |
Education › Re: SHOCKING: Illegal New Jamb Eligibility Regulation Is Very Real!!! by DrSage(m): 2:38pm On Jul 21, 2015 |
CuteMaryJ: Hello everyone, I hope this makes FTC. This started as a rumour and it sent shocks into the hearts of a lot of university aspiring students. I would love if this message is spread across and everyone gets to know of it.
According to news reaching us from inside reports, Jamb has suddenly come up with a new eligibility regulation whereby students that scored 200marks & above in 5 Nig top universities are being posted to other universities (mostly private universities). The affected universities include Unilag, OAU, Unilorin, Uniben and a yet to be confirmed institution.
Though the Federal Government set the new Jamb score at 180, unfortunately, applicants to these affected universites who scored 200 and above may not write the post utme exam not to talk if being admitted.
According to highly reliable sources, Jamb has shortlisted 9,937students (out of over 30,000 applicants) for Unilag PostUtme & 18,324 students Unilorin by using different cut off marks like 220,240,250& 255 for diferent courses & catchment area. This is a very illegal move which MUST be fought against.
So for those who opt for these universities in their utme, hurriedly go to your school portal to see things for yourself. A friend of mine just checked hers and discovered she has been changed to an unknown institution. This is no longer a rumour. Thousands of students who passed their UTME examination & applied for these universities will be denied admission. This is a move against the poor who cannot afford expensive private universities. How can someone opt for his/her preferred choice then you deny him the chance to write the exam? Non~indigenes are the most at risk. This is illegal. SAY NO TO CORRUPTION! SAVE NIGERIAN STUDENTS!
For unilag students, you can check your eligibility status by following these steps: 1): Go to Unilag website www.unilag.edu.ng 2) Go to Prospective Students 3) Click on Full Time Undergraduate Admission 4) Click on POST-UTME APPLICATION 5) Insert your utme registration number, telephone number and email address.
Cc lalasticlala (Please help move this to front page) hw can one check if one has been posted to another university |
