What you mean could be that you would have made more than 100% elsewhere. The only time you lose 100% of your money market investment is if the issuer refuses to pay coupons and principals. In other investment markets, however, it's different.

They are most likely talking about value. People who had a very high percentage of their investment in naira assets except some assets that are resistant to devaluation - lost serious value. Their advice is on point - always consider keeping some investments in non naira denomination.
