I hear you. No matter how much you live in grace, you cant make heaven on your own power or goodness or lack of sin but the mercy and grace of GOD. Also we are human, we are not perfect even though we grow in perfection. We still sin by virtue of our flesh.

If the repentance is true, yes. GOD is merciful. Without mercy we would be subject to justice i.e., death.

Sin is disobedience of GOD. I can tell you the first occurrence i.e., Eve but what was the cause of it? I am not sure.

We are but human and yes it is good to ask for forgiveness. Remember Jesus asked his disciple about how many times one should forgive. You remember the answer.

And yes we should not abide in sin but should truly repent. However we can fall no matter how much we strive to walk in the light. It happens to the best and worst of us. It is not by our grace or our goodness or our power that heaven is open to us. It is only by GOD's grace and the way he has created via Jesus Christ his son.

Another thing that befalls a Christian is the memory of one's sins. It does happen especially when one sees reminders. Always remember that GOD has forgiven you especially if your repentance was true. He has wiped your past sins away. Do not abide in sin ...
