The North ably led by PMB instigated violence and anarchy to grab power from GEJ. They succeeded but the monster they collectively created could not be killed. I have no pity for what has befallen them. It's self-inflicted. Karma is a bad ass bitch.

Boko Haram jihadists have seized a military base in northeast Nigeria, days after an attack left five troops dead and 30 missings, security sources and residents said Saturday. A column of fighters from the IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province in trucks and on motorcycles stormed into the base in the town of Magumeri, 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the Borno state capital Maiduguri late Friday. The militants overran the base for several hours, hauling away weapons before they were forced out. “The terrorists dislodged troops from the base after an intense fight,” a military officer told AFP. “We lost weapons and equipment to the terrorists but it is not clear if there was any human loss,” said the officer, who asked not to be named. The jihadists arrived in the town around 5:00 pm (1600 GMT) and engaged troops in an hour-long fight before they “gained the upper hand and chased the troops away,” militia leader Gremah Kaka told AFP. “The insurgents overpowered the soldiers and forced them to flee into the bush,” he said. Kaka said the jihadists stayed in the base for “more than four hours” before they were dislodged by reinforcements from another base in Gubio, 46 kilometres away. Last week, the jihadists raided a military base in Mararrabar Kimba, 135 kilometres from Maiduguri, killing five troops and stealing weapons, while some 30 troops are listed as missing. ISWAP has since July last year targeted dozens of military bases in attacks that saw the jihadists kill scores of soldiers. The military authorities have always denied any casualties. Boko Haram’s decade-long campaign of violence has killed 27,000 people and displaced around two million in Nigeria. The conflict has also spilt over into neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon. https://punchng.com/boko-haram-seizes-military-base-in-borno/?fbclid=IwAR3FFiTBVlgPD-L-zAwq3Oqz7xsJC5yQahWQNvXWfJ-ys8EXvrkKO79UQ-Q |
Shehu Sani, the Nigerian lawmaker representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, has lauded former President Goodluck Jonathan for the peaceful conduct of the 2015 elections. In an interview with The Guardian, Sani said the violence that followed the 2019 elections vindicated the former President. He noted that during the 2019 elections, various political players made inflammatory utterances that prepared the ground for the violence that was witnessed during the election. He said: “One singular statement made by former President Jonathan that no blood of any Nigerian was worth his own ambition set the tone for non-violent elections at that material time. “The bodybags comments made by the Governor of Kaduna State and other bloody comments, inciting statements and hate speeches, with the desperate use of violence on people and against people by those in position of power have seriously stained and tainted the credibility and transparency of the 2019 elections. “We have never in history seen how public resources were shared to voters to vote for public office holders and for candidates. When a nation descends to the very point that leaders have to pay to be elected into offices, then the soul of that nation has been buried along with dishonour. We have created a new form of politics and electioneering process where people buy themselves into public office or use violence for them to assume the position of power. “One of the foremost cardinal of democracy is the ability, opportunity and the rights of people to elect their leaders into office. But when that process is destroyed, undermined and decimated, then the legitimacy of the people who are going to be in office will be seriously questioned. This is where we find ourselves today. “You can’t use violence and public resources to get yourself into office and then claim any form of credibility. And I am saying it very clearly that as as long as leaders would perpetrate injustice, undermine the basic principles of credible elections and rig themselves into power, they have lost the moral right to call for statesmanship or sportsmanship. “You cannot rig election, destroy the foundation of democracy and demand peace, unity and order among the people. If the foreign observers were categorical in their condemnation of the gross destruction of the electoral process as it was done in the presidential and National Assembly elections, there could not have been the violence that we have seen. They were mild and modest in their reportage, assessment and conclusion on what has happened. “I can say that President Buhari cannot claim that what he has experienced today is a legacy of what he wants to leave for Nigerians. And I will also point out that if there is going to be seriousness in tackling electoral malpractices in Nigeria, then there must be sanction on those perpetrating it.” http://saharareporters.com/2019/05/04/unlike-jonathan-buharis-administration-witnessed-gross-destruction-nigerias-electoral?fbclid=IwAR0alURE8EDcxXUlN7ujFXSv38jSS5Zc7GpMEhPH-v0MygKe9h_mDz-jdYg |
Many people are believed to have lost their lives on Friday evening when suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State, security sources have told SaharaReporters. The terrorists arrived at Magumeri town at exactly 5:40pm in a large convoy, forcing the villagers to flee into bushes. According to one of the sources, the attack lasted for about three hours, with the insurgents moving freely in Magumeri town till about 9:15pm. “Both soldiers and civilian JTF members were overpowered as the attack went on hidden,” said the source. “The situation in Magumeri is worrisome; many were killed and an unverified number wounded.” SaharaReporters later confirmed that troops lsubsequently regrouped to face the terrorists after getting reinforcement from Gubio town. http://saharareporters.com/2019/05/04/%E2%80%98many-killed%E2%80%99-boko-haram-raids-borno-town-magumeri-without-opposition-four-hours?fbclid=IwAR0lpVhs8ABLRqzL5a_LnmcwZZ9I4REG2KDiu77zbLYG5LCRsbtK9S7U_7w |
GOVERNMENT ministers have held meetings with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (Macban) in Kebbi State where they were offered N100bn ($276m) over two years to call off the ongoing murderous rampage of Fulani cattle herdsmen. Over recent years, Fulani herdsmen have mounted a murderous campaign against rural farming villages, allowing the livestock to run riot and destroy farmlands. When villagers complain about it, they are attacked by heavily-armed gangs of herdsmen who ransack their villages with AK47s, sometimes leaving hundreds dead after such raids. President Muhammadu Buhari has come under intense criticism for failing to address the issue and being an ethnic Fulani himself who owns cattle, he is seen as sympathetic to Macban. However, with the insecurity growing by the day, the government has decided to meet with Macban officials where it offered them a cash payment to call their members off. Interior minister Lt General Abdulrahman Dambazau led the federal government delegation to the talks in Birnin-Kebbi, which lasted for over five hours. Apparently, Macban asked for N160bn but after intense negotiations, both sides settled for N100bn. General Dambazau said: “The gathering is part of steps we have taken to tackle insecurity and clashes between herdsmen and farmers. You should not forget the fact that we have extended the meeting as a regional one when the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) hosted a conference on this. “These issues were discussed and part of the dialogue was to provide a national action plan on security challenges and solutions by all members of the Ecowas commission and to present it to the commission for consideration. That is the main reason we have come to Kebbi State, to dialogue with leaders of herdsmen as part of the process.” Over recent weeks, the orgy of kidnapping by Fulani herdsmen has made major national roads especially in the northwest impassable, especially, the Abuja to Kaduna Highway. Over the last month alone, herdsmen have attacked and killed many people in villages and farms in Benue, Zamfara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kaduna, Enugu, Imo, Cross River, Edo, Delta, Abia, Kwara, Taraba, Osun, Ondo and Sokoto states. These killings associated with the Fulani herdsmen led to them being designated as the fourth most dangerous and deadly terrorist group on earth by the World Terrorist Index. At the meeting, the inspector-general of general Muhammad Adamu, gave a grim picture of the havoc being wrecked on Nigerians by the herdsmen. He added: “The criminals have infiltrated the crisis and we should cooperate and deal decisively with the culprits, hence we called for this interaction. Those criminals that are beyond redemption, will be dealt with and brought to book.” Kebbi State governor, Atiku Bagudu, said hosting the meeting in his state shows the seriousness of President Buhari’s administration in tackling the security challenges in the country. Macban president Alhaji Muhammad Kiruwa, said the meeting was productive and should bring about peace. Alhaji Kiruwa added: “This is the first of its kind in the history of this country, for the president to direct his security aides to interact with an aggrieved party to air its views. This meeting will serve as a foundation for peace between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers and among the Fulanis themselves.” http://www.nigerianwatch.com/government-and-macban-reach-agreement-to-pay-fulani-herdsmen-n100bn-to-stop-killings/?fbclid=IwAR2guXKYeATp4dPuXMpOHFoYqEjogFJfxxo-ol7q0Jvp47FlUHBv1pGNLP4 |
