SportsRuben Amorim Oversees First Man United Training Session As The New Boss. by DUCEDAVEE(op): 9:20am On Nov 19, 2024
Ruben Amorim took charge of his first training session as Manchester United manager on Monday.
Amorim was confirmed as the man to succeed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford back on November 1 but he did not start his new job until November 11 as he served a notice period at former club Sporting Lisbon.

The 39-year-old is widely regarded as one of Europe's top coaches and he finally got to work at United's Carrington training ground this week.

Amorim did not have a full squad of first-team players to work with because many of his top stars were on international duty.
However, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro all took part in Monday's session.

Amorim put his players through a series of drills and also set up a practice match.
Amorim used a 3-4-3 formation during the majority of his 231 games in charge of Sporting and it appears as though he is keen to stick with that system.

Footage from Monday's training session was shared via United's social media channels and it left eagle-eyed fans intrigued by what they saw.

One fan, an X (formerly Twitter) user with the handle '@utdrobbo', was adamant that he had worked out the exact line-up of Amorim's apparent 'Team A' on Monday.
After studying various clips, he deemed that Amorim had gone with Yoro, Jonny Evans and Shaw as his back three.
The midfield four was seemingly Antony, Casemiro, Mainoo and Tyrell Malacia, with Amad Diallo, Rashford and Mason Mount as the three most attacking players.
Many United fans responded to @utdrobbo, commanding him on his research, while multiple comments welcomed the idea of Rashford playing centrally as a No 9.

It is highly unlikely that the 10 outfield players who teamed up in training will all start against Ipswich on Sunday in Amorim's first game in charge.

SportsJadon Sancho Returns To Chelsea First-team Training After Nearly Three Weeks. by DUCEDAVEE(op): 8:45am On Nov 19, 2024
Jadon Sancho was spotted back at Chelsea's first-team training on Monday.
The winger has been out of action with an illness in the last three weeks, which was confirmed by Blues boss Enzo Maresca prior to their clash with Man United.
There were question marks over whether Maresca had potentially fallen out with Sancho, similarly to how former United boss Erik ten Hag did.

However, that has been put to bed after Sancho was spotted back in first-team training on Monday afternoon.
The winger was spotted with a snood on as he gave up to a thumbs up to the camera man at Cobham.
It will come as a welcome boost to Maresca side ahead of their clash with Leicester on Saturday afternoon - with Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill also back in training.

The 25-year-old was handed his debut as a second-half substitute against Bournemouth and immediately repaid his manager's faith by assisting Christopher Nkunku's late winner.
Since then he has only continued to flourish for the Blues, adding further assists in comfortable Premier League victories over West Ham and Brighton.
Though, prior to his absence through illness, there were suggestions that Sancho had lost his place to fellow summer signing Pedro Neto.
It also emerged recently that United reportedly asked high-profile pundits to stop praising Sancho during the winger's loan stint at Borussia Dortmund.
The 24-year-old fell out with Ten Hag after the then-Red Devils boss left him out of the squad that suffered a 3-1 defeat against Arsenal last September, due to his 'performance in training'.

Christianity EtcProtest Over The Brazen Injustice In St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Nkpogwu, Ph by DUCEDAVEE(op): 10:25am On Jan 19, 2023
Official Statement:

PROTEST OVER THE BRAZEN INJUSTICE IN
ST MATTHEWS ANGLICAN CHURCH, NKPOGWU, PORT HARCOURT.

We the undersigned, write on behalf of over 1,000 members of St Matthews Anglican Church, Nkpogwu, (SMAC) Port Harcourt to protest;

(a) The unconstitutional, autocratic, and repressive suspension of 16 registered members and communicants of the Church, broadcast on October 29th 2022 in a Zoom meeting on International Media, the Advent Cable Network Nigeria TV (ACNNTV), by the Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), His Grace the Most Reverend Dr. Henry C. Ndukuba, without the right to fair hearing accorded these members as provided for in the Constitution and Canons of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion),

B) the dissolution of the elected Parish Church Council (PCC) and subsequent inauguration of a Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the Church. The PCC is a constituent of duly elected members of the Church.
The tenure of the PCC expired in February 2022, The Vicar Ven Onyinye Matthias Okpala, as the Chairman of the Electoral committee called for nominations and the seconding of candidates for fresh elections. This nomination/seconding process was conducted and concluded, but the Vicar has continued to stall in the conduct of election of candidates into the PCC.

We have resorted to this open newspaper publication to air our views and here with state our position, due to the refusal of the authorities of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) to follow the provisions of the Constitution, and adjudicate fairly on the issues that have led to the crisis in the Church since the posting of Ven Onyinye Matthias Okpala as the Vicar of the Church in March 2021, and inform the reading/listening public, and correct the misinformation and inaccuracies contained in the letter signed by the General Secretary of the Church of Nigeria (The Venerable Gershinen Paul Dajur) and issued to the Press on 29th October 2022.

Having failed to obtain fair hearing from the authorities of our Church organization, we are compelled to make our case known in the court of public opinion in the hope that this will galvanize them to take appropriate action to redress the situation.

In conclusion, let it be noted that the restraint that has made us to hold on till this material time before coming out with a press release has been because of the reverence we have for the office and the person of the Primate of All Nigeria who also happens to be our supervising Bishop. However, it appears to us that there is an agenda by some persons to tarnish the image of the Primate of All Nigeria, with issues of what is happening in SMAC Nkpogwu being mirrored at Sapele and even far away North America.
For how else could it be explained that the same authorities that frown at taking Church matters out of the ambit of the conflict resolution mechanism of the Church is the same one dragging its members to the Police at the highest level? As it is not too late to do the right things, we thus prevail on the Church of Nigeria to, as a matter of urgency; do the right things as is expected of the Church whom Christ died for.

SportsEx-chelsea Star Michael Ballack’s Son Emilio, 18, Dies... by DUCEDAVEE(op): 2:34pm On Aug 05, 2021
Emilio Ballack, the teenage son of former Germany and Chelsea footballer Michael Ballack, has died after being crushed by a quad-bike near the family's holiday home in Portugal.

The 18-year-old was involved in the accident around 2am Thursday at the family's Villas do Mar estate, near the town of Troia which is just south of the capital, Lisbon.

Police said the teenager had been riding on an uneven piece of land when the bike rolled backwards and fell on top of him. Firefighters had to pull him free of the wreck before medics tried to revive him, but their efforts proved in vain and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

'The accident happened at the family home. The quad rider wasn't on a public road and his was the only vehicle involved,' an officer told Portuguese media.

The teenager’s body has been taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in the city of Santiago de Cacem for a post-mortem. Ballack has yet to make any official comment.

Emilio is the middle of Ballack's three sons - born in 2002 to then-girlfriend Simone Lambe, who Ballack would marry in 2008 but divorce in 2012. Eldest son Louis was born in 2001, and youngest Jordi was born in 2005.

Emilio recently posted pictures of his time in Portugal at the weekend, showing pictures of his time at the beach with his family.

The teenager had been spending time at Sublime Beach Club in Alentejo a few days ago – a trendy hangout area near the scene of Thursday morning's crash.

Details of his accident have not yet been disclosed.

Ballack is widely regarded as one of the best German players of all time and is a Premier League and FA Cup winner with Chelsea.

Chelsea tweeted on Thursday afternoon: 'Everybody associated with Chelsea Football Club is shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Emilio Ballack at the terribly young age of 18.

'All our thoughts are with his father Michael and his family at this sad time.'

Ballack joined the Blues in 2006 after making his name at Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich before spending four years at Stamford Bridge.

Ballack made 98 appearances for Germany, scoring 42 goals in the process.

After joining Chelsea for £18million in 2006, Ballack went on to make 167 appearances for the club, scoring 25 goals and registering 24 assists. It was the longest he had spent at a club.

During his time in Germany, Ballack won the Bundesliga three times, along with the DFB-Pokal all in the same year.

During an interview with the Independent in 2009, Ballack revealed how he saw similarities with his own schooling in what was then East Germany.

He said: 'You had to stand up in school and say some things and stand still, and wear some uniform.

'Now I come to England and again my kids are in uniform, in a different way but they have to wear uniform. In West Germany you go to school everybody wears their own stuff.'

Ballack picked Portugal to rest and recover after having a tumour removed from near his spinal cord last year.

The former Chelsea and Germany midfielder had a growth discovered on his body during an MRI examination by doctor, according to Bild.

The early detection proved fortunate for the 44-year-old and the tumour was removed before lab examinations cleared Ballack of any fears the growth was cancerous.

SportsHarry Redknapp Insists Harry Kane Is Going Nowhere...... by DUCEDAVEE(op): 2:17pm On Aug 03, 2021
Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes that Harry Kane will not be sold unless chairman Daniel Levy gets exactly what he wants for him, despite the striker missing training for the second day in a row.

Kane believes that he has a 'gentleman's agreement' with Levy to leave the club this summer, but Levy is doing everything in his power to keep Kane at the club, and won't let him leave unless he gets the exact fee that he wants.

The 28-year-old's absence is likely to cost him a fine, but he's planning to reiterate his desire to leave the club in a meeting this week.

Levy is understood to accept a fee in excess of £150million but Manchester City are reluctant to spend much more than £100m they already attempted to buy him for.

Harry Redknapp, who managed Tottenham between 2008-12, believes Levy is not going to move on his stance.

'At the end of the day, unless Daniel gets the money that he wants, it isn't going to happen,' said Redknapp.

If he wants £150million and someone is offering £130million-£140million, it's not going to get him. Daniel won't budge.'

Redknapp was surprised at Kane's decision to skip training yesterday - which has now moved into a second day - and believes it could ruin his legacy at the club.

'You wouldn't have expected that. You'd have just thought he'd have turned up and had a meeting with Daniel (Levy) again,' Redknapp said.

'I'm sure his advisers are meeting with Daniel [Levy] anyway and got it sorted out.

'I was a bit surprised. I'm sure he'll come into training today (Tuesday) when the training starts but not the best way to go about it really. He's so loved at Tottenham, it'd be a shame if that got spoilt. It shouldn't do because of what he's done and how much he loves the club.'

amie Carragher weighed in on Kane's actions yesterday and shared Redknapp's sentiment that Kane is wrong not to turn up to training - this after Rio Ferdinand suggested that Kane was within his rights to take a stand.

'Harry wants trophies and he isn't getting any younger,' Carragher said on Twitter.

'We all know he wants to go and can totally understand why. But Harry should not ruin his name or relationship with the supporters who idolise him just to get the move.

'Spurs will always be HIS club.'

PoliticsSouthern Governors Set August 14 Deadline For Passing Anti-open Grazing Law. by DUCEDAVEE(op): 7:22pm On Jul 05, 2021
The Southern Governors Forum on Thursday said all its members’ states must promulgate the anti-open grazing law by August 4.

The forum made the resolutions at a meeting in Lagos State on Monday.

The governors had in May announced a ban on open grazing in all the 17 Southern states.

They recommended that the Federal Government should support willing states to develop alternative and modern livestock management systems.

The forum explained rationale for the ban on open grazing, stressing that, “development and population growth has put pressure on available land and increased the prospects of conflict between migrating herders and local populations in the South. Given this scenario, it becomes imperative to enforce the ban on open grazing in the South, including cattle movement to the South by foot.”

They collectively identified the incursion of armed herders, criminals and bandits into the Southern part of the country as being at the root of the “severe security challenge such that citizens are not able to live their normal lives in the region.

But the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, opposed the southern governors’ decision to ban open grazing in their states.

Malami said such an ‘unconstitutional’ resolution was dangerous for the country.

“It is a dangerous provision for any governor in Nigeria to think he can bring any compromise on the freedom and liberty of individuals to move around,” Malami said during an interview on Channels Television‘s Politics Today.

“It is about constitutionality within the context of the freedoms expressed in our constitution. Can you deny the rights of a Nigerian?

“For example, it is as good as saying, perhaps, maybe, the northern governors coming together to say they prohibit spare parts trading in the north.”

TV/MoviesDwayne Johnson Reveals ‘black Adam’ 2022 Release Date by DUCEDAVEE(op): 11:40am On Mar 30, 2021
Dwayne Johnson, who is starring as Black Adam in the film ‘Black Adam’ has shared on his Instagram Sunday that the DC superhero film will be released on July 29, 2022.

In the post, he wrote:

A disruptive and unstoppable force of a message from the man in black himself. The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change.

The short spot with the release date was also aired during Sunday’s NCAA game.

The news comes after it was recently announced that Pierce Brosnan has nabbed the role of classic hero Dr. Fate. Rounding out the cast are Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

Black Adam marks the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s hit Shazam!, with the two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, known as archrivals in the DC Universe. Production on the film is slated to begin in April in Atlanta.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who also directed Johnson opposite Emily Blunt in Disney’s upcoming Jungle Cruise, is directing Black Adam.

Revealing the project in 2019, Johnson said the role of Black Adam was “unlike any other I’ve ever played in my career.”

In an Instagram post, he wrote:

As a kid, Superman was the hero I always wanted to be. But, a few years into my fantasy, I realized that Superman was the hero, I could never be. I was too rebellious. Too rambunctious. Too resistant to convention and authority.

Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. FlynnPictureCo’s Scott Sheldon is serving as executive producer. Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the latest draft, with Adam Sztykiel writing the previous draft.

“Black Adam” was previously slated for December of this year but was taken off the Warner Bros. release schedule back in October 2020. Warner Bros., like CNN, is owned by WarnerMedia.

The new release date means the antihero movie will arrive the same weekend as Disney’s fifth “Indiana Jones” film.

PoliticsNigeria Competing With Bandits To Recruit Jobless Youths, Says Tinubu by DUCEDAVEE(op): 11:25am On Mar 30, 2021
The annual Tinubu Colloquium, 12th in its series, to mark the 69th birthday of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), lived up to its reputation yesterday to make some inquest into national conversation and evoke frank discourse on the state of the nation.

The colloquium held in Kano, was themed: ‘‘Our Common Bond, Our Common Wealth: The Imperative of National Cohesion for Growth and Prosperity.’’ The event was virtually attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, who chaired the occasion and restated the essence of a one Nigeria.

The colloquium was also virtually attended by the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; amongst others, whose itineraries were disrupted by poor weather from the Abuja airport to the Kano airport. The colloquium was conceived by Prof. Osinbajo as a platform to celebrate the former Lagos State governor popularly called Jagaban and has held every year since 2009, except last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic

After missing out last year due to the lockdown on major cities in the country, yesterday’s colloquium was another moment of soul-searching for the ruling party as its bigwigs rendered torrents of accolades for its convener.

Amidst the din of tributes, Tinubu cautioned the Federal Government against inflicting stiffer economic policies on Nigerians, stating that citizens were already going through devastating pressure occasioned by the administration’s economic management.

Tinubu said: “What Nigerians need is economic stimulus and not austerity measures capable of driving Nigerians deeper into poverty.”

Asiwaju, who lamented the country’s unemployment rate, which stood at 33 per cent, said the country is competing with bandits to recruit unemployed youths, while he proposed immediate recruitment of 50 million youth to fill the acute shortage in the military and police.

The former governor of Lagos State said: “Nigeria is under-policed. We are competing with armed robbers and bandits to recruit from the youths who are unemployed. Nigeria’s unemployment rate recently hit a new record high at 33.3 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2020.

“With the high unemployment rate, some have feared that many youths who are out of jobs might turn to social vices and ills including banditry in northern parts of the country. It is time for the Buhari administration to address the situation so as to improve the standard of living of the citizens. Something must be urgently done to salvage the country.

I can also relate personally to the ideals of one Nigeria. As a military officer, I have served with great comrades from all the nooks and crannies of our country. I have seen over and over again that their goodness or failings did not depend on ethnicity or religion.

“More importantly, I fought for the unity of Nigeria during the civil war of 1967 to 1970, and I saw first-hand the unspeakable horrors of war, not just on fellow soldiers on both sides, but on the civilians: innocent children, women and elderly citizens that they left behind. As we all know, the peace-building, recovery and reconstruction that followed could also not have succeeded under an atmosphere of inter-ethnic animosity.”

HealthNAFDAC Destroys N613m Counterfeit Goods In Kano. by DUCEDAVEE(op): 11:04am On Mar 05, 2021
The National Agency for Drug, Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed counterfeit drugs, cosmetics and food items worth over N613 million in Kano State.
The NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, stated this at the North-West zonal destruction of fake, counterfeit and unwholesome products, on Thursday in Dambatta, Kano state.

Represented by Mr Kingsly Ejiofor, the Director Investigation and Enforcement in the agency, Mojisola said that the fake products were seized by operatives of the agency during various operations in the state.

She listed the products to include substandard, fake, falsely labelled medicines, unwholesome processed food products and cosmetics seized from manufacturers, distributors and importers.

The director general noted that expired drugs were also handed over voluntarily by complaint companies, Non Governmental Organisations, Trade Unions, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and National Association of Proprietary and Patent Medicines Dealers (NAPPMED).
“The estimated value of the products being destroyed today is N613,300,290.00.

“The products include drugs such as antibiotics, antihypertensive, antimalarial, herbal remedies, psychoactive and controlled substances.
“Foods such as spaghetti, vegetable oil, non-alcoholic beverages, sachet water, etc, were also destroyed.

“As well as cosmetics such as creams, pomade and insecticides,” she said.
The destruction, she said, would eliminate the risk of their reintroduction into the market, noting that drug counterfeit is an act of economic sabotage and pose serious threat to public health.

According to her, the agency is adopting proactive approach by engaging political, traditional and religious leaders in sensitising their wards on the dangers of drug abuse.

The NAFDAC boss warned Nigerians to be wary of possible infiltration of fake COVID-19 vaccines into the country.
“The public must be on the look-out for these spurious and counterfeit vaccines and other regulated products.

“NAFDAC on its part will ensure continuous surveillance on these products and enforce the regulations governing these products in Nigeria,” Mojisola said.

While commending security agencies and other stakeholders for their support, she reiterated commitment to a sustained collaboration with relevant regulatory agencies.

PoliticsOkorocha Scores Uzodimma Low On One Year In Office.. by DUCEDAVEE(op): 8:45am On Jan 24, 2021
Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has appealed to the incumbent, Hope Uzodimma, to desist from alleging his abysmal low performance in one year was due to assessment performance within the period under review.
In a statement issued by Okorocha’s Special Adviser, Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, the former governor said Uzodimma took over from Chief Emeka Ihedioha on a clean slate, after Supreme Court’s judgment, and wondered why his case was different.

Onwuemeodo’s statement read: “The media reports, with referenced caption, had come following events to mark Hope Uzodimma’s one year in office, as Imo State governor. The referenced caption only summarised Imo people’s honest verdict on the government for the year under scrutiny.

“But reacting to the low score given to Uzodimma by well-meaning people of Imo State, one of his Special Assistant on Print Media (local), Mr. Modestus Nwankpa said: “The governor has been busy correcting anomalies meted to the state by Rochas Okorocha…

“The truth is that, if after one year, the governor’s handlers still brandish Okorocha’s name as their only defence for the government’s failure or ineptitude, then, something fundamental is obviously wrong with the administration.

Hope Uzodinma and his media apostles should stop the blame game, which should have been over after the celebration of his 100 days in office. But, it has continued, even after one year, indicating that there is no light at the end of the tunnel.”

Okorocha insisted the “governor and his foot soldiers should go back to the drawing board. They should tell themselves the home truth and face realities on ground…”

In defence, Nwankpa said: “In eight years, Okorocha wasted Imo money to build city gates that ended up a mirage. He celebrated his birthday in over 10 different states. He converted Imo lands and property to himself. What a bracing show of wickedness and executive rascality?…”

PoliticsBuhari Canvasses Restructuring Of ECOWAS, Orders Release Of $20m To Kill Terror by DUCEDAVEE(op): 8:34am On Jan 24, 2021
President Muhammadu Buhari has advocated for the restructuring of ECOWAS, saying that the organization needed to streamline its management to adjust to current realities.
”A situation where ECOWAS has 23 statutory appointees, of which 13 are Commissioners for this Commission is totally unsustainable”, the president said in his presentation to the virtual 58th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, in Abuja, on Saturday.

He stressed that there was need for a lean and compact leadership in ECOWAS, to enhance the efficiency and performance of the organization, adding that the restructuring would eliminate overlap and the tussle between the large statutory appointees, as well as reduce personnel and overhead costs that could be channeled to the execution of projects.

”The African Union, our larger continental organization of 55 members, has pruned down its commissioners to only six, hence, there’s no basis whatsoever, for ECOWAS, with only 15 members, to maintain 13 commissioners and 10 other statutory appointees.

”Accordingly, Nigeria recommends the immediate appointment of a ministerial ad hoc committee to review the proposal of the Maxwells Temp Report and submit a recommendation, at the mid-year summit for our consideration and adoption.

”If, however, some countries are not in favour of this, then each country must sponsor its own statutory appointee as is practiced by other organizations, such as the European Union and other regional organizations”, President Buhari told the meeting.

He added: ”Going by the recommendation of the Maxwells Temp Report, it is envisaged that even with the lean number of statutory appointees, each member country will still have a representative on the management of ECOWAS.

”We believe that this should satisfy our desire to have a sense of belonging in the community’s institutions and also to enhance our spirit of solidarity”.

The Nigerian leader drew attention of the meeting to the fact that at 45, ECOWAS was expected to be an accomplished regional organization, and for that reason, the right and bold decisions to enhance its performance must be taken.

CrimeNorthern Elders Threaten To Mobilise Against APC Over Insecurity. by DUCEDAVEE(op): 11:01am On Jan 20, 2021
Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development (CNEPD) has cried out in alarm that the northern part of the country is under siege by Boko Haram, bandits and kidnappers, whose criminal activities have grounded educational, economic and socio-political activities in the region.

The elders, who claimed the ugly situation is being underreported by media, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to device new approach to restoring peace in the troubled area. They reiterated their call on Buhari to urgently sack the service chiefs and totally restructure the nation’s security architecture.

According to the elders, it would take the region over 100 years to recover from destruction, killings and trauma associated with the insecurity in the region if the development is not brought under total control now.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by National Coordinator CNEPD, Zana Goni, the coalition said the situation in the region was not getting any better. They threatened to mobilise Nigerians from other parts of the country against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections if their demands for the administration to stop the killings in their region through adoption of new approach is ignored.

They, however, hailed the appointment of former Military Administrator of Lagos State, Gen. Buba Marwa as Chairman of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Noting that drug abuse is one of the major causes of insecurity in the north, CNEPD urged the new NDLEA boss to be more decisive with drugs peddlers, with a view to ending the menace not only in the region but also in other parts of the country.

“We confirm that the entire North is still under siege from Boko Haram terrorism, banditry, kidnaping and other forms of criminality. This ugly security situation, we noticed, has been underreported. We are concerned over this poor media coverage.

The inability of the service chiefs to change the game against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers threatening the continued existence of the region despite the heavy investment made by Federal Government so far to ensure restoration of peace, is no doubt worrisome to us. We believe wholeheartedly too, that this development is a source of great concern to all patriotic Nigerians out there.”

CNEPD lamented: “As we write this to present our plight to the public, there is no school opened to academic activities in the region, except perhaps in Maiduguri metropolis of Borno State. Farmers can’t go to farms anymore, especially in the North East, fueling our concerns of severe famine if the situation is not immediately addressed.

“Also, buying and selling, besides other economic activities, have been brought to a total halt by activities of terrorists, bandits and kidnappers. There is equally no social activities anymore in the region as people preferably stay in their various houses now to avert being prowled on by the adversaries.”

On the plan to move against APC should their demand not heeded, the elders said:
“We remind Mr. president that for you to be successful and an accomplished president, your party should succeed you when you take a bow.
“Nigerians should be happy to vote for your party, but your continued refusal to listen to Nigerians on the restructuring of the security architecture is rapidly threatening the chances of APC in 2023. Urgent steps need to be taken to restore public confidence in the party.

“We in the North are the backbone of your party and if nothing is done soonest to address the issue of insecurity in our land, we will have no choice than to begin to mobilise against APC come 2023.”

Foreign AffairsAmericans Bid Farewell To Trump, As They Welcome Biden by DUCEDAVEE(op): 10:54am On Jan 20, 2021
It is the end of the road for the United States President, Donald Trump, who fought unsuccessfully to remain in office by approaching court to upturn his defeat by Joe Biden, who will be inaugurated today.

Although he had consistently insisted the election was flawed and stolen from him, it appeared the odds were simply against him. As a result, he reluctantly surrendered power but refused to concede, including participating in today’s inauguration.

Following the violence that trailed Biden’s validation sitting at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 25,000 National Guard troops are now in Washington DC for the inauguration of Biden as the next President of the United States.

Security was intensified after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), alerted other law enforcement agencies that QAnon (a far-right conspiracy theory) adherents discussed acting as National Guard soldiers in Washington to try and infiltrate President-elect, Joe Biden’s inauguration.

The FBI, in an intelligence report it said was obtained by Washington Post, revealed that some persons downloaded maps of sensitive areas around Washington and talked about how those locations could be utilised to penetrate security.

The intelligence report warned that QAnon members and “lone wolves” indicated they planned to travel to Washington for Biden’s swearing-in ceremony today”, the Post said.
Sources have also noted that while departing the White House as President and first lady, Donald Trump and Melania Trump would not invite their incoming counterparts, Joe and Jill Biden, inside before they go.

Instead of a president and first lady, the White House chief usher, Timothy Harleth, according to a source familiar with the day’s events and planning, will greet the Bidens. Harleth, a 2017 Trump hire from the Trump International Hotel in Washington, will likely not stay on in the Biden administration, the source said, noting the role of chief usher in all probability will be filled by someone more familiar with the incoming President and first lady.

In the afternoon today, President Biden will participate in a ceremonial wreath-aying at Arlington National Cemetery, joined by former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. It is during these hours the bulk of the Bidens’ personal effects will be moved into the White House and unpacked, according to another source with knowledge of executive residence practices.

Meanwhile, Biden plans to sign dozens of executive orders and send wide-ranging bills to Congress in his first days in office, aiming to roll back some of Donald Trump’s signature policies on immigration and climate change, while taking action to ramp up the government’s response to the coronavirus crisis.

According to a recent memo by his incoming Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, interviews with several of Biden’s advisers and a review of campaign promises, Biden would seek a $1.9 trillion spending proposal aimed at accelerating the distribution of coronavirus vaccines, while providing economic relief to millions of Americans hurt by the pandemic.

He will also impose a mask-wearing requirement on all federal property, planes and buses, extend relief on federal student loan payments and extend an eviction moratorium.
Biden will as well sign an executive order that will help schools and businesses reopen safely, expand coronavirus testing and establish clearer public health standards.

U.S President-elect Joe Biden has named Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine to be his assistant secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), in a move that is set to make her the first openly transgender federal official to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

“Dr. Rachel Levine will bring the steady leadership and essential expertise we need to get people through this pandemic — no matter their zip code, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability — and meet the public health needs of our country in this critical moment and beyond,” Biden said in a statement.

“She is a historic and deeply qualified choice to help lead our administration’s health efforts.”

Dr. Levine is a physician and professor of paediatrics and psychology at the Penn State College of Medicine. A graduate of Harvard and of Tulane Medical School, Levine is also the president of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

Additionally, she is a public speaker and author on several issues, including the opioid crisis, medical marijuana, adolescent medicine, eating disorders and LGBTQ medicine, The Hill reported.

Joe Biden’s administration is set to become the most inclusive administration in U.S history, as as he has tapped LGBTQ appointees for several key roles.

SportsManchester United Seems Close To Agreement With Borussia Dortmund Star ⭐️ by DUCEDAVEE(op): 12:38pm On Jul 18, 2020
Manchester United are close to agreeing a £100million deal to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wants the Englishman to join his attacking ranks and line up alongside his youthful compatriots of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

And according to The Sun, United are ready to agree on Dortmund's valuation of the player with a deal looming.

The Red Devils have made Sancho one of their principal targets when the summer transfer window opens on July 27.

United chief executive Ed Woodward stated in April that the club 'were not immune' from the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic.

Sancho's current £190,000-a-week contract runs until 2022, which Dortmund reportedly believe puts them in a position of strength with regards to any transfer away from the Signal Iduna Park.

Any negotiations at this stage are also likely to be further complicated by the uncertainty of United's status as a Champions League or Europa League side next season.

Sancho, who signed for Dortmund in 2017 for a measly £8m from Manchester City, is believed to be keen on a return to Manchester.

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is keen to pursue Sancho this summer, but needs the financial assurance qualifying for Europe's premier club competition would bring.

SportsManchester City Chief Executive Ferran Soriano Spoke Out On Financial Fair Play by DUCEDAVEE(op): 3:10pm On Feb 19, 2020
Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano SLAMS UEFA's two-year Champions League ban as 'more about politics than justice', calls FFP rule break claims 'FALSE' and vows to clear the club's name

Manchester City came out swinging after being dealt a two-year Champions League ban, with chief executive maintaining that allegations of financial wrongdoing are baseless.

Soriano, speaking for the first time since Friday night's ruling, confirmed that City are appealing the decision and refuted UEFA's findings that City did not cooperate with the investigation.

City hope the appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) concludes before the summer and that the punishment will be thrown out.

The two-year Champions League expulsion also came with a £25million fine after accusations of 'serious breaches' of UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations between 2012-16.

'The fans can be sure of two things,' Soriano told the club's website. 'The first one is that the allegations are false. And the second is that we will do everything that can be done to prove so.

'The most important thing I have to say today is that the allegations are not true. They are simply not true.

SportsManchester City star B. Silva Admits He Feels An 'emptiness' After Leaving Benfi by DUCEDAVEE(op): 11:38pm On Feb 16, 2020
Manchester City star Bernardo Silva admits he feels an 'emptiness' after leaving Benfica 'a little early' and has hinted he wants to play for the Portuguese club later in his career.
.
.
The 25-year-old midfielder left the Estadio da Luz after just three first-team appearances to sign for Monaco in August 2014.

After impressing in France, Portugal international Silva moved to Manchester City for £43.5million in the summer of 2017.

He has since become a key part of Pep Guardiola's side, winning back-to-back Premier League titles as well as the FA Cup and two League Cups.

But Silva says he has a yearning to return to Benfica, where he emerged from the academy ranks, later in his career.

Silva has contributed seven goals and seven assists in 34 matches for City this season but turbulent times await the club.

UEFA's Club Financial Control Body announced on Friday that City will be banned from the Champions League for two seasons after breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

The club plan to appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport but the verdict has raised question marks over the future of key players including Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, as well as manager Pep Guardiola.
