Sholape’s mum sells roasted plantain by the road side, and a times it might be roasted corn or yam depending on what season it is. She tries so hard to make hands meet but having Sholape and her younger sister to cope with makes it all to no avail as they could only feed from hand to mouth. Sholape could manage to only attain a secondary school level certification because it was free to every indigene of the town.


Sholape: Mummy, its going to rain today. And that’s not a good sign; you know we need to sell all this plantain or else they will get spoilt.

Sholape’s mum: Yes, I know my dear… I only hope these dark clouds are just mere threats. Oh! Look at me, I have forgotten my big umbrella at home, its better you go get it for me as soon as we get to our sales spot.

Sholape: Yes ma, let me hurry; since I’m still going back home. Sholape hurrily took the big bowl of plantain and potatoes on her head to their sales spot and headed back for home. As she walked for some minutes, the dark bags of the sky began to leak; it was drizzling and she hasn’t gotten the umbrella yet likewise was there a hut to hide; “Oh God.. This is not good” Sholape said to herself as she practically walked under the rain. The rain threatens with thunder and lightning dignifying even more heavy down-pour ahead.

Desmond drove pass with a cute ride; wow its a KIA series.. Sholape pondered for a second within her; and said aloud “how I wish” snapping out of her thought to notice the car actually stopped and even taking a reverse towards her. Who can this be, I don’t know anyone; she said to herself. Desmond whining down; stares at Sholape and wow this guy isn’t looking bad either:

Desmond: Hello dear, I could not help but to notice an angel walk wet in the rain; what happened to her wings? (Smiles). She should have been far gone before the rain even began?
Sholape blushingly said thank you for the compliment.

Sholape: Well, let’s say this angel wouldn’t mind been soaked in the nature of existence as today’s rain.

Desmond: Hmmmm… That sounds interesting, so angels too take time to be adventurous. I like your kind of angel.. I must confess. But please let the adventure pause for now, I would love to drop you off; its unfair to make you walk under the rain.

But I’m wet already.. Sholape said, Desmond insisted and off they drove.

Desmond: So, what is this angel’s name?

Sholape: You can call me ‘Sholape’

Desmond: I am Desmond, the son of late Senator Enoch. I came in into the country some days ago for my holiday, I’m a student actually.. Studying mechanical engineering in Germany. And you?

Remember Adeniyi Okubanjo and Lara Akinyemi who were classmates in primary school, lost contact and later reconnected on Facebook in 2009? Niyi had his eyes on her since primary school.

Some residents in Lagos state today staged a protest at the Custom’s office on Moboloaji Bank Anthony way, Ikeja, over the death of a motorcyclist, Omotosho Zaheed who was allegedly killed by some customs officers at Mosalasi bus stop, Alagbado, Lagos State last week Thursday.

According to the protesters, the custom officers had on the day of the incident, intercepted a trailer load of bags of rice believed to have been smuggled into the country. Hoodlums in the area tried to stopped the officers from going away with the bags of rice.

In the process, the officers called for reinforcement who came in and started shooting sporadically. One of the bullets ripped through Zaheed’s back, killing him on the spot.

IMF says economy is now worth £11 trillion as America falls into second place for the first time since 1872. China has toppled America to become the biggest economy in the world, according to figures from the International Monetary Fund.

The US has been the global leader since it overtook Britain in 1872, but has now lost its status as top dog.

The latest IMF figures show the Chinese economy is worth £11trillion compared with £10.8trillion for the US.

China – whose wealth has accelerated in recent decades amid rapid industrialisation – is expected to extend its lead, with the IMF estimating its economy will be worth £16.7trillion in 2019. That would be 20 per cent bigger than the US economy, which is forecast to be worth £13.8trillion by then.

The numbers are based on ‘purchasing power parity’ (PPP) which makes adjustments for the fact that goods are cheaper in countries such as China relative to the US.

Without these adjustments for living costs, the Chinese economy is still smaller than that of the US, at £6.4trillion.

China enjoyed three decades of double-digit growth before the global downturn, as industrialisation and sweeping economic reforms created a new power house in the East.

Republican and Democratic party officials, on Sunday reacted to claims by Donald J. Trump that the election process is being rigged.

“The election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary — but also at many polling places — SAD,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Mr. Trump’s claim was considered a vivid illustration of how he plans to shatter American political norms through conspiracy between the news media and the Democratic Party since he had no evidence to support his claim.

According to reports, Mr. Trump’s words, appear to be having an effect on his supporters and is setting off deep concern among civil rights groups.
According to an Associated Press poll last month, only one-third of Republicans said they had a great deal of confidence their votes would be counted fairly. Meanwhile, election officials are worried that Mr. Trump’s continued pressing of the issue during rallies could dampen or cause his supporters to deny the legitimacy of the results if he loses.

Jon A. Husted, the secretary of state of Ohio, while reacting to this also said:

“We have made it easy to vote and hard to cheat,” we are going to run a good, clean election in Ohio, like we always do. He further noted that American elections are, unlike like those in many democracies, largely decentralized, rendering the possibility of large-scale fraud extremely unlikely since the balloting in many of the hardest-fought states will be overseen by Republican officials who would be highly unlikely to consent to helping Mrs. Clinton rig the vote.

Chris Ashby, a Republican election lawyer, who said Mr. Trump’s attacks on the electoral process were unprecedented and risked causing a fiasco also, said that Mr. Trump was “destabilizing” the election by encouraging his supporters to deputize themselves as amateur poll monitors, outside the bounds of the law, adding that this is going to create a disturbance in polling places across the country, which is very, very dangerous.

Despite the warnings of the Governor of Lagos state Gov. Ambode who took up to his twitter handle yesterday to announce and sensitize people about the irrelevance of halting the normal business operation of the state, some areas of Lagos is presently experiencing some form of violence towards submission to the NLC strike.

Rumor has it that Ipaja, some part of Ikeja and other unverified areas of Lagos are experiencing unrest, this is causing some kind of confusion as not every now feel safe to move in this areas, and to go about their normal day activity.

The Governor of Lagos state yesterday said he will make sure forces are made available to ensure smooth running of business activities of the day in all parts of Lagos. With this, fear and panic setting out for work this morning was ruled out. Hopefully something will be done before evening, forces will be put in place for safe arrival of workers back to their various homes. But before the security take full charge, Lagosians should be careful with their movement, as safety is the best.

Bana Fanaye also known as Mahamat Moustapha, said to be the mastermind and recruiter of Boko Haram sect operations in Chad and northern Cameroon, he has been arrested by authorities in Chad.

Assorted weapons, as well as cell phone SIM cards for various countries, including Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger were recovered from his residence; as reported by CameroonJournal. Bana Fanaye is said to be the brain behind most Boko Harma operations including arms purchases in Chad and northern Cameroon. He was arrested on Friday afternoon.

Remember the 9 convicts meant to be executed for drug offense in Indonesia? Indonesia authority has executed 8 of the 9 people convicted for drug offenses. The men all pictured below are now died from their pronouned death by firing squared.

They were taken to a jungle clearing on the island Nusakambangan according to local media reports and were executed at midnight Indonesia time by 12 police privates (that would be about 6pm Nigerian local time). The only woman amongst them, Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso, was spared last minute after new information emerged about her case.

Strangely, It has produced a strange form of pareidolia that appears to be a humanoid form with blazzing eye. Locals has called the strange occurrence an angel of death! This is really creepy! I am still pondering on how one will feel, not just knowing the very DAY he is going to die but also WHERE and HOW, it's realy a sorry case.

Come this Wednesday, April 29th, four (4) Nigerians going by the names: Martin Anderson, 50, Okwudili Oyatanze, 41, Jamiu Owolabi Abashin, 50, and Silvester Obiekwe Nwolise, 47, will be executed in Indonesia just after the stroke of midnight. They were found guilty of drug trafficking and will be shot to death by a firing squad. Sad, chilling photos of their coffins have been released.



DailyMail reports that a local funeral director in Cilacap, the nearest port to Nusakambangan, or Death Island where these Nigerians are presently held was instructed to engrave their names and the date of their deaths on the coffins.

Last Saturday, the Nigerians and other death row inmates were given 72 hours notice ahead of their deaths, when prosecutors were called to the Death Island to finalise the execution papers. See Some photos below:
