Israel5: Please (even though I know my appeal with fall on deaf ears too numerous to count in this forum), approach this issue with logic and without prejudice to the people involved.
My wife and I are duly blessed with a son who is in his basic 5 now. Also, we decided to get the daughter of one of my cousin to stay with us. She is one of 7 children. So I wanted to help raise a CHIMAMANDA.
As my rule, every child of same age under my room attends the same school and calls us Dad & Mum. The school part didn't quite seat well with my wife, who had a different opinion, but I prevailed anyway. Because na me dey pay school fees.
The girl is a year older than my son, but due to the level of education at the village before she came over, we made her be in the same class as my son. She met my son in primary 2. Now they are both in basic 5.
A shocker happened: This girl keeps coming up in the class, while my son keeps running away from the top. We've tried extra lessons, even tried changing schools. Now it looks as if the girl is better suited for school than my boy. She reads, spells and memorizes things too marvellous. I bought a dictionary cos of that.
I even buy gifts for her (for coming top) more than I do for my boy, to make him sit up, but my pikin nor send me o. Guy use cry & Woman power make me buy am bicycle. 😁
I would think he's being a spoilt boy, who believes daddy & mommy is there, I don't really know. But I am hopeful.
Now, my major issue is my heavily pregnant wife. She wants the girl to be changed/enrolled at a different school. In her defence, she wants her to be available to help her take care of things. The kid's school close by 3pm. She suggest government school that close earlier. I see sense in what she said but I feel like I'll be unfair to this young girl.
When I tried to have a healthy debate on the idea. Na so madam start to dey talk plenty tins wey I nor fit type. I have accepted to do her wish from September for peace.
Please, do you see another way I could avoid problems?
Is she right to have asked that I change the girl's school just because she needs help around the house & her business? Oga if you know you, want to change the child's school because of your wife, please oh return the Child, we don't want to hear justice later, I can foresee wickedness ahead |
Car Talk › Re: Police Took 80,000 From Me Yesterday, Because Of Absent This Paper. by duncan511: 6:19pm On Jul 04, 2025 |
Iceking1: Good afternoon Nairalanders,
I was driving yesterday afternoon, when I was stopped by the police, they inspected my papers and noticed that I bought my car at a car stand "used" so they asked me for a document named "authority to sell" I was surprised because I haven't ever had of that before, even though this Is my 4th car. They then proceeded to ask me for agreement paper between the first owner and the previous owner that sold to me. Which I don't have, but I have every other documents from the immediate owner, and have none from the very first owner, except the motor receipt, that they used to buy the motor from car stand.
They took my car to the station, and demanded 400k, I pleaded with them for almost an hour until they accepted 80,000. They told me they need cash, I withdrew the money and gave them the cash.
When I got out of the station I confided with a friend and narrated everything to him as it happened and asked him for help In other to avoid such a scenario from happening again.
He told me that, the paper that I wrote and signed on the car stand before leaving with the car, on the day I bought the car "aggremenr paper" was what led them asking for the "authority to sell" paper. He told me that nevertheless, they have no business asking me for the agreement paper between the old, and immediate seller that sold to me and the other previous owner.
He then advised me to go and re_do another agreement paper, the ones they normally type with old type writer, and take it to who sold the car to me to sign, so that when next they see me they won't ask me for authority to sell, as my agreement papers won't indicate that I bought the car from a car stand "used" but it would seem like I bought the car directly from a regular user.
I did as he told me but I'm still worried, as they would still stop me to take more money from me in the future because I don't have the agreement paper between the immediate previous owner and the former owner that sold to him. They're always fond of asking for such, all my previous cars I have the aggrement papers of previous owners to current owners that sold to me, please I need advice on how to go about this agreement papers, I have gone to the car stand severely and they gave me the contact of whom they bought the vehicle from before selling to me, I called and he told me that he had traveled out, I need help please, help me.
Would an affidavit of "loss of agreement paper from who sold to me directly and the first user solve this issue? Please help I'm so worried.
Below is the 80,000 I withdrew and used in settling the police yest afternoon, I paid 2800 as charges to the POS girl. go licence office, they know more about paper, they will advise you what to do, if is paper they will assist once you pay them. |

Politics › Re: Jail Politicians Who Break Electoral Promises; Not Citizens Who Don’t Vote by duncan511: 11:56am On May 20, 2025 |
kfasian: OPINION:
By PastorKay
Politicians Who Break Election Promises should Be Jailed; Not Citizens Who Don’t Vote:
The recent proposal by the National Assembly to mandate compulsory voting in Nigeria is not only tone-deaf but dangerously misguided. While high voter turnout is a desirable feature of any democracy, attempting to achieve it through coercion rather than trust is counterproductive. Instead of punishing citizens for their apathy, lawmakers should be asking: why are people refusing to vote? And more importantly, what can be done to restore faith in the political process?
Voting is a democratic right—not a state-imposed obligation. The right to vote includes the right not to vote, especially in protest of a political system that has repeatedly failed its people. For decades, Nigerians have cast their votes in the hope of change, only to be met with the same pattern of empty promises, corruption, and neglect. The problem is not voter laziness; the problem is broken trust. Nigerians are not refusing to vote because they are unpatriotic—they are refusing because they are tired of being deceived.
If the National Assembly is truly interested in rescuing Nigeria’s democratic integrity, the real legislative priority should be holding elected officials accountable. Instead of introducing a bill that criminalizes citizens for not voting, they should be debating a law that mandates prison sentences for politicians who fail to fulfill their campaign promises. That would be a bill rooted in justice, not political deflection.
A politician’s manifesto is not a poetic wish list—it is a binding social contract. When candidates stand on podiums and pledge jobs, security, infrastructure, and reforms, they are not entertaining the public—they are making commitments that should carry consequences if willfully abandoned. Introducing legal penalties for deliberate and consistent failure to deliver on campaign promises would revolutionize Nigerian politics. It would separate the serious leaders from the opportunists and elevate public service above mere political ambition.
Such a law would also dramatically reduce voter apathy, not by force, but by restoring hope. People are more likely to participate in a system they believe in. If Nigerians knew that elected officials would face real consequences for betraying public trust, they would have a renewed reason to engage. Compulsory voting, on the other hand, addresses none of these underlying issues. It merely disguises the symptoms while ignoring the disease.
It is not the Nigerian voter who is failing democracy—it is the political elite who promise transformation but deliver excuses. Until we reverse this trend, no amount of forced participation will bring legitimacy to our elections. A system that demands accountability from its citizens must first demand accountability from its leaders.
Let us stop punishing the victims of bad governance and start punishing those who exploit public trust for personal gain. Let us focus our legislative energy not on coercing votes, but on building a system where votes truly count—and where broken promises carry a price.
Only then will we begin to rebuild the kind of democracy Nigerians deserve.

This is why Nigeria will forever be where it is. Kangaroo committee that was set up on Monday, finished it's investigation on Thursday morning, dished out suspension that Thursday evening. Is four days enough for any reasonable investigation or findings not to talk of an incriminating matter of such magnitude.
No wonder sensible people are leaving Nigeria everyday. My friend too left to UK on Wednesday. My brother is like you don't understand why they suspended her. They suspended her not because of her sexual harassment allegation against the Senate President but for disobeying and breaking Senate rules and also not accepting her summons to the Senate committee. There is condition for the suspension to be lifted, if only she will come out openly and apology to the Senate. Is left for her to apologize or go to court and challenge her suspension. |

You can't break rule of the house, then rush to TV station for sexual harassment allegation, then come back to the house to lay complain about sexual harassment allegation after breaking the rules and you want to go free. After suspension or tender officially apologies to the house then you can now officially bring your sexual harassment allegation to the Senate to handle. |

Afodot0022: Top of the day to my nairalanders fam. Majority of people here have idea about my story and if you don't, you can go through my previous post to get a glimpse.
This month made it one year and seven months have been Separated and living apart from my ex wife due to infidelity and cheating from my ex wife part. Since then, my two daughter aged 8 and 7 had been living with her and I do take responsibility of them until this January 2024 when my wife took my kids to her father and step mom place because there was this course she was order to go for 6months officially outside lagos state. I was so angry because she never seek my permission or approval before taking them there and because of this, I stop sending money or paying their fees till now. I saw it as a act of disrespect if I the father can't be informed of where my kids are been taking to for a long period of time. She already took them there before informing me.
She was supposed to finish her course outside the state by June and since then, she never called me to inform me she is back until yesterday when I put a call to her and she told me she got back since June. I asked about the kids and to my shock, she told me the kids are still there with her father and step mom. How can you leave the kids at your parents place while the father and mother are available, I got so upset and the discussion resulted to insult and curse on phone. She told me she had a serious issue at work and she couldn't combine the kids stress to what she is going through presently. To be honest, I was even thinking to reconcile with her cos of the kids despite she cheated but the way she behave and talks on phone shows she is not remorse or even care if the family is back together or ready for any reconciliation despite the fact she was at fault. Now my kids are my focus but I don't know how to go about this.
The information I got from her dad was that he will not release the kids to either me or her on less the money he had spent on them is refunded back to him. This is already looking like a kidnap and abduction case which I told her that if she doesn't pick those kids before weekend, I will file a case of child kidnap and abduction against her and her father. Pls I need advice on how to go about this and those that have first class experience with such should assist with advice. Thank you all Take your family to meet them then discuss the matter, but if wife parent wants payment of the expenses they have spend so far then, let them call the amount they think they have spend so far, if is what you can afford then as you there give them the money then carry your children. If you did not stop giving them money for the children upkeep before they would not see anything to hold you back. When you are giving the money mention witness are there and also you there present to carry the children immediately. Don't leave children with them after giving them the money but if they insist you must leave the children after the payment ask for refund immediately or file lawsuits against them for children custody and kidnapping, because you have pay for their release and they refuse to release the children. That my own opinion. |

Believe it or reject it!
If they swap American police with Nigerian police, especially those white racist police, many Nigerians will end up dead in one week You people just compare things the way you want, in your own country security personnel who suppose protect you, will be treating you like animal and you will still compare them to Americans police who are racist to emigrant. Will you ever see American police threatening or treating Americans citizen in their own country like animals? If Nigerians are treated like animals in other countries, can't them be treated like humans in their own country. Is it good to suffer same thing home and away? Let stop comparing Nigeria with racism then stand and condem every evil you see within our soil against our people for betterment of our country. |

Those in Oman helping you get visa, both Omanis and the Nigerians there are just hustlers,, using you to cash out. The agents collect 400omr (1.6Million) while the Nigerians bill you 2.8 Million. THE GUYS THERE ARE JOBLESS…PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON VISA TO OMAN.
Ladies there are into prostitution.. they are in rented flats waiting for the Indians and Bangladeshi clients …. Migrant workers! It’s a hopeless life over there in Oman. Don’t waste your funds chasing joblessness… or sleeping in abandoned houses.

The funniest part was that I registered the SIM card by myself at their mini outlet before we begin linking of NIN. I request to see the face linked to my SIM card but alas my face shown clearly but all the 3 names was not mine which means the agent that registers the SIM card used someone else name to register my SIM card but my face & fingerprint is correct. , they need to arrest all this agent registering people with fake identity but were you able to retrieve the sim later |

State conducting local government election is a waste of time, how a whole local government, Udu perspective become unopposed, until INEC start conducting local government election, that local government autonomy has no effect on the local government because state conducting local government election is like appointment or caretaker appointee inform of appointed election while state control the financial as usual without oppose from the local government. When INEC start conducting local government election then you will know the real truth of local government autonomy, the state governor will fight back because they believe it will be like governorship election when different party when win different local government, for the state Governor to control opposition party local government chairman financial it will be hard, because news will carry it. And that the FULL WEIGHT of the Nigerian Constitution would be visited upon such people and their properties.

I give my wife 700k every month, and this includes general upkeep and maintenace and fuelling of our car (Lexus 330). I don't drive the car (I dey leg, while she uses it to run around, which includes school runs and her business).
I no dey chuk eye for her business. Bu I am getting frustrated as she still makes me believe that the money is not enough. I pay electricity bill (band A) and house rent (3m pa) yet every now and then she puts bills on my head. It is driving me crazy.
When I tell her to list out her expenses so I plan with her, she picks offence. I am really tired of the whole thing and don't know how else to approach the issue without causing too much problem. I know some men whose salaries are 250k-300k in PH, yet they are surviving. No amount of money you give to woman this period is enough due to cost of things. But the issues is you, you should be reducing some expenses. Management is the key this period, discuss with her that you can't afford such amount this period that you are reducing the money and also drop some expenses like putting on gen every time, go for water dispenser or satchet water, reduce some cost of living, then be giving her money weekly, mentioned your budget don't pass 500,000 a month then save 200,000, divide the 500,000 into 4 weeks then been sending to her weekly. If she is not comfortable with it then let her add the rest, because if your sources of income is gone, you might likely suffer, if you don't plan it well now. As a father or mother you will decide what your children will eat, if you set a standard that you can not afford with time when you don't have your family will look some where to get it, that will make you a failure as father before your children. Mother knows how to control emotions of children, forgetting all the good things you have been doing since. So seat your wife down and discuss with her, she will adjust, because if you give her 1million naira, it would not still be a enough. |
