I love radio too but fact is radio takes a lot of real estate in smartphones, that could be used for better tech advancement. The radio receptors in masts alone require maintenance that basically can be replaced by a more better tech advancement. Look at what USB C has brought to tech as compared to USB B and A, that's the idea.

It's not like these old tech never worked but humans have increased in population and their needs has to be taken care of or there will be a problem of demand-supply, that is why cars today have less strong body but more internal features as compared to before.

The problem with old tech is resources, the raw materials needed for manual engines could make 2 automatic, resources for a radio can make 5 smartphones, we could get 20 digital clock off a single analogue so why go back. That's the idea behind these techs, though there's greed behind them too but just like slavery every good has its own evil.
