Several reasons I can think of:

-They were not using American phones, laptops and gadgets that can be intercepted by Mossad intelligence.

- Israel politics is divided and tumultuous for some months past. They were busy trying to remove Netanyahu and not focusing on the enemy strategies

-They got solid Intel from Iran or similar enemy nations of Israel. I don't think Hamas can pull this off without first-class intelligence agency from a developed nation like Iran.

- Qatar and Iran and other Arab enemy of Israel has been pumping money to Hamas to prepare for this invasion while all eyes were being distracted with Ukraine war.

the big question is WHAT WAS THE PLAN? .
Even is iran provided intelligence, what do they want to get out of this? Hamas knows Israel will hit back harder so why do it anyway?

Imagine spending 100 dollars each to neutralise attack rockets that costs 20 dollars to make. It's a matter of time before the defense becomes economically unsustainable. If this attack is scaled up as was done yesterday with thousands of rockets fired, the attacker will only spend 20% of what the defense would have lost to defend themselves.

That's why I fear China, they could make the same weapons that cost millions of dollars at a very cheap price with almost the same capacity. Their F-16 copycat is way cheaper than American own. They would be a tough enemy for USA/West, based on economics of scale.

quantity on its own is a good quality.. No matter what the west says.. We saw it in Ukraine, we saw it in Israel, we will see it in Taiwan too.

Iron Dome did made some interceptions but the system was simply overwhelmed. Truth be told, no system can handle that huge number of rockets no matter how sophisticated it was. Not to mention the EW that Hamas deployed, which confirmed my fears that a great foreign power is behind these operations on the Hamas side. They simply do not have such capability on their own. Moreover, it could also be an inside job or either way. It's just too complicated right now. This is a lesson to Israel that no one is untouchable no matter how big you may be.

you are very correct all AD can be overwhelmed , and the worst this is that you can use several cheap rockets to do these.. I think AD should be redesign to make interceptions very cheap
