Hey Davidylan.

I know this is a very old thread but caught my eye. Have a friend who is in the same situation in Nigeria. If they overstayed (its been 6 weeks) and they are trying to get a flight out. Immigration will no longer deal with them and said accept your fate.

So I am asking when he goes to airport to leave what will happen? Do you still get to leave without a exit visa. Immigration just said you better go. So we advise him to try and get a flight out ASAP.

Just when I say all the choices for the UK mum they seem to really ant to help and not criminalize the person. My friend has a finance' here and wants to be able to come back. Now immigration did send him a letter of a pardon of expired Visa, and to extend VIsa they said 24 days of which was already expired and they expected him gone within 24 hours. But it was impossible for him to leave and he notified them.

Thank,
Concerned

He's jst scared to go to airport and get stuck with more fines (already has paid N100,000 to immigration). BUt if he shows at airport they will not deport him right?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Important: Notice to Jobseekers by dwheels76: 11:20am On Apr 19, 2011
Thanks for the heads up on Job seeking since I am new to the Nigerian Market. But it seems so much personal info is asked and I want to know why.

I see Nigerian companies practice ageism and sexism and just plain discrimination. Wouldn't have expected that from an all black population. But tell me why do Nigerians tolerate ageism. I realize most of who is on these postings are young, but damn by what I have seen in job posting after 35 you are not even desired or wanted but they want you to have the experience of a 5o year old.

Never have I seen so many postings of can not be more than 31 or 35 or once I saw 45. I have seen only pretty girls need to apply for banking teller positions. How in the world is this tolerated. I mean they pay shit here unless you are foreign so what do older , not so pretty people do.

I guess I need to know where the postings are for white foreign people. I am not white but they don't know that.

I have way to much experience to be passed up and over. If only the 9ja market could get their head out their ass and look for the most qualified. Sorry this is very frustrating to me.

Okay I just moved here to Port Harcourt Got married to my Nigerian husband (I am an american) and I am truly trying to get this apartment market.

Don't laugh but I have gathered that rent is paid all upfront whether it be 1 year 1 and half or 2 years. There is no month to month rent pay like in the US correct?

Also I hear there is mass problems with fake agents and leases so how do you know you and 3 other people didn't rent the same place.

We are looking for a modest 1 bedroom in a safe area in Port Harcourt if there is such a thing. I pray with maybe power 1/2 the time and well clean if thats not too much. Was really surprised how slummy PH looks and feels. Very disappointed.

So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Travel / Re: Does The Us Embassy Visa Policy In Nigeria Discriminate? by dwheels76: 5:02pm On Oct 16, 2010
Okay I read all these poss some very old going back to 2006. But My fiance' s going through this VISA process and we had been scammed by so called agents there to the tine of $3700 we lost for a VISA we picked up that was already expired.
Now we are dealing directly with Counselor General In Lagos.

My question is why is the price so VISA so different.? It's like you can line up 100 Nigerians and all paid a different price. We paid $5000 yes $50000. But I have Nigerian friends this year alone who have paid as much as $20000 to embassy and to this places that will "HELP" and guarantee a VISA.

What have you all paid or heard people been paying? We have already paid $3500 on the $5000 and when we pay the last $1500 this week he gets his VISA.

And it only seems like its a US VISA that's like this. am naive I guess when I look online and see VISA application $25 I figure that's it. Not all these thousands.

Tell me people prices charges. And also anyone know any cheap airfares from Lagos to Dallas, Texas. need to buy in a moments notice.

Thank you,

Debbie
