Politics / Mburubu Town Union Apologizes To LG Chairman & Igwe-elect, Chief Onukaibe, by Eagleeye101: 10:29pm On Jan 17
The Mburubu Town Union may have finally apologized to the Igwe-Elect, High Chief Ozo Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, over allegations of paying N100 million to the Nkanu East Local Government Chairman, Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, to secure the traditional rulership position.

The community town Union exonerated the council boss of any wrongdoing, saying the allegations were mere rumors being peddled around town by desperate individuals. The President General was quoted thus: "After due diligence investigation, the Mburubu Town Union says it has uncovered the truth about the alleged N100 million Naira kickback offered to the chairman of Nkanu East LGA, Hon Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, to endorse a traditional ruler for the community. While decrying the desperation of certain individuals just to tarnish the council chairman's good image, MTU President General, Chief Emmanuel Edeh urged him to remain steadfast in discharging his official duties, even as he assured that the election of the next traditional ruler of the community will follow due process, devoid of rancor and bickering."

Reacting, Igwe-Elect, High Chief Ozo Jerry Patrick Onukaibe said he thanks God that the truth has been told, adding that he has forgiven all those who accused him wrongly. He said the allegations were "unwarranted, unfounded, and childish." Chief Onukaibe expressed shock over what he described as "provocative, malicious, and unsubstantiated publication," adding that he has contributed immensely to the development of the community and has all it takes to merit an appointment into any office, including the Igweship stool as deemed fit by his community.

“The allegation of bribery against me is not only laughable and untrue but also quite baseless and unfounded. As a true son of the soil, and having worked assiduously to help the community, I have all it takes to serve my people at any capacity they deemed. I do not need to bribe anyone for the traditional stool. "I’ve seen many things on the internet but I don’t pay attention to those negative things,” he said. “Since 2023, a year and several months after our King, His Royal Highness Igwe Emmanuel Ezeh joined his ancestors, there has been pressure for me to contest for the Igweship of the community, but I told them I didn’t want to, but the pressure was too much so I told them I will think about it. Several months into time again, there was no one showing interest for the throne, and it would be senseless to leave the community without a King, I then made myself available to my people. I was officially presented to the local government chairman, as required by law, for onward notifications to the State Government. I never gave a bribe of N100m to the local government chairman, directly or in proxy. "You don't bribe yourself into kingship. The people of the community spoke to me at length before I accepted. I heard so many things that I paid my way back to the kingship; I just laughed. They tried to defame my character; I’m not the kind of person who likes problems. “Everyone has their opinion about me but I don’t care but not to the extent of saying I bribed my way,” he added. Let it be re-emphasized here again that I, High Chief Ozo Jerry Patrick Onukaibe, did not, will not, and will never need to bribe anyone for the Igweship stool of Mburubu.

Politics / Nkanu East Youth Stakeholders Pledges Total Support To H.e; Gov. Peter Ndubuisi by Eagleeye101: 12:04am On Jul 23, 2023
NKANU EAST YOUTH STAKEHOLDERS PLEDGES TOTAL SUPPORT TO H.E; GOV. PETER NDUBUISI MBAH LED ADMINISTRATION; PASSES VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE ON COMR. EDEANI MADUABUCHI EDEANI LED NKANU YOUTH ORGANIZATION (N.Y.O) LEADERSHIP

Nkanu East Youth Stakeholders meeting held on Saturday, 22nd July, 2023 at Press Center, Enugu by 4:15pm.

After an extensive and exhaustive deliberation on burning issues as it concerns the State, N.Y.O, the terms of reference of the caretaker committe led by Edeani M Edeani, and its forthcoming Congress, Nkanu East Youth Stakeholders resolved as follows;

1. That we throw our weight in solidarity to H.E; Gov. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah led administration in Enugu State and commend him on actions taken to check the security situation in the State.

2. We urge the citizens of our dear State to desist from playing antagonistic politics and join hands with our Governor to build a State we all will be proud of.

3. That we continue to assure our people that His Excellency will deliver on his campaign promises, not minding the topsy-turvy of our present economic reality.

4. That we will work assiduously to produce a President of N.Y.O that will galvanize support for the Governor in order to have a seamless actualization of his noble agenda for the State, especially in the Youth constituency.

5. That it wasn't explicitly spelt out in the Communique dated 13th November, 2022 which has since been the only legal tendered document N.Y.O referred to as a guide in taking decisions that Nkanu East can't vie for the position of the President N.Y.O and as such, Nkanu East have resolved to vie for the position of the President, Nkanu Youth Organization.

6. That Nkanu East having earlier considered ceding her rights on vying for the position of the President N.Y.O, owing to the fact that one of her sons is currently the Caretaker President thereby rescind their earlier decision with the following reasons;

6(i). That Nkanu East can't be disenfranchised from contesting the position of the President, N.Y.O and not allowed the privilege to produce the Electoral Chairman.

6(ii). That the portion of the draft Constitution Article 16(iv) to be used for the Congress gave the six (6) Local Government Areas LGA(s) in Enugu East Senatorial Zone equal stake of having one (1) nominee in the Electoral Committee and a representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has been truncated with the Electoral Committee Chairman, Nnamchi JP Egbo as nominated by the National Executive Committee President, Comr. Edeani M. Edeani, came from Enugu South that has earlier nominated Comr. Princewill Ugwu as their representative in the Committee, thereby giving them an undue advantage while also having one of the front-runners for the position of the President from Enugu South.

6(iii). That the purportedly appointed Electoral Committee Chairman Nnamchi JP Egbo as nominated by the President is an alien to the Organization. He is not known and hasn't participated in any activities of the Organization prior to his nomination as Chairman, Electoral Committee.

7. That the forthcoming Congress is a brotherly affair and as such, Nomination forms for the election should be free. Meaning, no candidate should pay to obtain nomination form!!

8. That when the incumbent Caretaker President and his Executive vied for their current positions, they didn't purchase any nomination form and hence we advocate for free nomination forms

9. That Nkanu East Youth Stakeholders will pay for all the printing materials needed for the Congress.

10. That interested individuals in any of the position should have a verifiable means of income; either in civil/public service or verified private sector.

11. That the Caretaker President failed woefully in the implementation of the mandate given to him and his Executive which includes;
i. Registration of the Organization.
ii. Creation of Local Government structures.
iii. Having the Constitution handy and ready for use on or before 13th May, 2023.
iv. In consultation with stakeholders, the Constitution of the Electoral Committee on or before 13th June, 2023. (So as to give aspirants 2 months to consult before the election)

It is in view of the above and other untoward behaviour of gross misconduct and abuse of office that Nkanu East Youth Stakeholders passes a vote of no confidence on Comr. Edeani Maduabuchi Edeani led Nkanu Youth Organization.

12. We call on the Board of Trustees (BoT) to probe the activities of the interim National Executive Committee of Nkanu Youth Organization led by Comr. Edeani M. Edeani and take appropriate actions accordingly.

13. That as written in the Communique dated 13th November, 2022, the BoT should intervene and make sure that the Communique would be strictly adhered to and the Congress holds on 13th of August, 2023.

Signed, for and on behalf of Nkanu East Youth Stakeholders:

1. Prince Arinze Arum.
2. Ogechukwu Nnamani.
3. Pharm. Nwafor Gideon.
4. Engr. Aga Chikezie.
5. Ubagu Anthony Chekwube.

To the first part of the Triad. Mr Obi has set the Igbo political trajectory 24/32 years back.He has become a twin Blight & Scourge on the Land. His devious Opium served to Christians within sections of Nigeria and to Igbo domiciled in different sections of Nigeria is severely

Coming to Enugu at long weekends to catch fun in the guise of “Mkpuke”These Igbo leaders including "Asoebi” Governors quite unlike my ’99 class. They delivered ZILCH.Roads zero!Water zero Health zero!Education zero."Dirty" everywhere! In their States and on their behalf 2 terms

Politics / Changing The Narrative Of Public Secondary Schools With Dr. Mrs Favour Ugwuanyi by Eagleeye101: 10:17pm On Apr 21, 2023
ENUGU PPSMB:
Changing The Narrative Of Public Secondary Schools With Dr. Mrs Favour Ugwuanyi

In history, countless inspiring stories about women‘s conquests and exploits span from science to commerce, leadership to politics, academia, and the corporate environment. These stories speak of personalities committed to changing history for the better, displaying courage, breakthroughs, resilience, and uncommon determination. In Nigeria, names such as Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, the late Prof. Dora Akunyili, Chimamanda Adichie, Folunsho Alakija, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Hajiya Gambo Sawaba, and Queen Amina Zazzau unlock a sense of endless possibilities and give assurances that women are not confined to traditional roles like cooking, caring for children, and taking care of the family.

Enugu, the coal city, is rising from the ashes of its industrial past to embrace a new dawn. Its hills and valleys bear witness to the resilience of a city that refuses to be subdued, just like Dr. Mrs. Favour Ugwuanyi, mni, who embodies the unwavering spirit of Enugu and has become a beacon of hope for its people. Its streets breathe life into the stories of its people, who sing of triumph, struggle, and hope, weaving together a tapestry of a city that wears its scars with pride. Dr. Mrs. Favour Ugwuanyi‘s success story in the administration of public secondary schools in Enugu state adds to the vibrant fabric of Enugu‘s history.

Although Dr. Favour is a woman who is rewriting history, making her generation proud, and giving different dimensions to what womanhood represents, her name holds various meanings for different people. Her radical approach to managing public secondary schools stands tall among her litany of accomplishments. Public secondary schools in Enugu state have always enjoyed the tremendous support of the current Governor of Enugu, and Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi’s appointment as Chairman of the Post Primary Secondary Schools Management Board (PPSMB) in 2022 has further reaffirmed the government’s commitment to quality education.Dr. Favour, the embodiment of hard work, resilience, and courage, commences her day at 8:00 am and concludes at 11:30 am, dedicating herself to the needs of secondary school teachers, principals, and students drawn from over 300 public secondary schools in Enugu state. Since her assumption as the Chairman, she has restored discipline to public secondary schools through constant monitoring, supervision, and stringent policies that have uprooted indolence, indiscipline, cultism, examination malpractices, among other malfeasances that characterize public secondary schools in Nigeria. Today, public secondary schools in Enugu state still occupy a vantage and strategic position in the education of children in Enugu state, which is lacking in many states of the federation.

Success, as we know it, does not usually come by accident; it is a product of hard work, resilience, a commitment to doing what is right, and abhorring what is wrong. Under the leadership of Dr. Favour, Enugu State emerged as the first position in the South-East and second in the entire nation in the results of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) in 2022. This rare feat was made possible through her effective policies, reward and punishment mechanisms, and massive infrastructural investments across the three senatorial districts of the state. In less than two years since becoming the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Favour has successfully repositioned public secondary schools in Enugu state, as they can now comfortably and favorably compete with their private counterparts.

As a woman of class and quality, Dr. Favour creates world-class opportunities for the secondary schools she supervises. As of today, the public secondary schools across the state recruit and retain the best teachers. She encourages hard work and professionalism through constant training and retraining of teachers. For her, if it is not the best, then it is not worth her attention. No wonder the principals of all the public secondary schools in Enugu state enjoyed world-class training from well-experienced, versatile, and renowned resource persons and policy-makers drawn from the nation‘s apex institute, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos in April 2022. The training covered different spectrums, including resource management, stress management, educational management, planning, stakeholder engagement, and work ethics, which has bolstered the capacity of the principals to perform wonders in their various schools.

The success stories of the Enugu state Post-Primary Schools Management Board cannot be complete without mentioning Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State. As a man of honour and integrity, he is known for putting the right person in the right place, and the appointment of Dr. Favour is a testimony to that rare virtue. After the appointment, the Governor has been providing the necessary support in terms of finance, political will, and moral support, ensuring that the children get the best education.

Let it be stated that when the history of public secondary education is written, it will be said that a godly, competent, fair, and firm woman was appointed as the Chairman of the Post-Primary School Management Board (PPSMB), and her tenure brought about significant improvements in public schools. No doubt, with Dr. Favour at the helm, the future of public secondary education in Enugu is secure. At the moment, knowing that education is too important to be left in the hands of the government alone, the Board is open to collaboration and partnerships with philanthropic, governmental, and non-governmental organizations to enhance the government‘s efforts and achieve even more. For public secondary schools, the best is not enough, but through constant investment and reinvestment, public secondary schools in the state will remain the best.

We heartily commend the youths of Enugu State for Coordinating ourselves on a high plane of dignity and discipline even in the face of heightened tensions as a result of the 3-day suspension of collation by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Throughout the process, we remained law abiding while creatively insisting that INEC does her job without favouring any particular political party. Alas, the process has produced for us a leader who is most manifestly atuned to the lofty growth concerns and aspirations of Ndi Enugu.

As the Apex youth organization, we have not failed to note that your manifesto maintains a strong focus on youth development as the bedrock from which the latent potentials of the state can be unleashed. We are creatively fascinated by your vision for a smart and digitally compliant Enugu State that would open alleyways to creative inventions and innovations among young persons. We constantly imagine and reimagine an Enugu with constant water supply not just in the metropolis but in our different communities and villages. These are the hopes and assurances that births our excitement over your victory. Realise that by this celebration, we are calling your attention to the towering heights of our expectations and the expectations of the entire Ndi Enugu.

Politics / Edeani M Edeani Arrest Has Nothing To Do With Lucky Chukwu by Eagleeye101: 7:11pm On Feb 04, 2023
Re: DSS invites, detains Nkanu Youth president( Edeani M Edeani) Over statement by Nkanu youths to caution Lucky Chukwu- setting the records straight. --BOT Chairman.

The attention of the Board of Trustees of Nkanu Youths Organization has been drawn to a misleading report by Fountain care reporters on the reason behind the invitation of Comrade Edeani M. Edeani by the DSS where they inferred that their letter to Hon Lucky Chukwu is the reason for the invitation. We wish to state categorically clear that our Elder brother Hon Lucky Chukwu has no hand in the invitation but he was invited in response to a petition written against him by Enugu State University of science and technology over a letter he had written to them.

The general public should disregard such fake, unverified news and place it in trash bin.

I wish to call on fountain care reporters and other bloggers that innocently carried this fake news to pull it down and set the records straight.

I also on behalf of the organization, apologize to Hon Lucky Chukwu for being unnecessarily dragged into this matter.

Politics / Enugu Youth Leaders Reaffirm Gov. Ugwuanyi's Youth-friendliness by Eagleeye101: 10:21pm On Oct 25, 2022
BEING A PRESS TEXT BY THE ENUGU YOUTH LEADERS HELD ON THE 24TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 2022.

Gentlemen of the press:

1. We, the Enugu Youth leaders and representatives drawn from different organizations, regions and LGA have come together to agree on a United Youths front in order to pursue the collective best interest of young people in Enugu State. We understand that the past few years in Enugu State have witnessed discordant pursuits of personal interests cloaked as collective youth agenda. This disposition have had dire consequences we did not fathom. We have therefore examined our journey so far and have unanimously agreed that to move forward and to exert our capacities maximally, a United Enugu Youths front is necessary. We therefore cease this medium to call on every individual or youth organisations to identify and align with this collective position and shun every urge to pursue interests that endanger our new found unity. Every State actor and authority is also by this press conference called to the realization that the activities of any individual or group outside the designation of this front does not represent the general interest of the youths.

2. This press conference offers us the opportunity to publicly re-echo our unceasing gratitude to His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Enugu State for his fatherly disposition and the countless achievements of his administration which has significantly advanced the collective destiny of the Wawa people. Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will forever live and enjoy a soft spot in the hearts of young persons in Enugu for the opportunity he gave to youths to flourish and become their best selves. Never in history have Youths had this level of access and inclusion. It can not be argued that Enugu State remains the number one state in the implementation of the not too young to run bill, We therefore unanimously reaffirm the assertion that Gov. Ugwuanyi remains the most youth friendly Governor in Nigeria. Let this press conference convey our emotions and sentiment to the good people of Enugu North Senatorial zone and call them to the realization that Gov. Ugwuanyi is one man that has the largeness of heart and the capacity to redefine senatorial representation in the zone.

3. As the campaign for 2023 election garners momentum and the choice of who to vote preoccupies the minds of young people, the leadership of Enugu Youths is working to galvanize youths interests, Expectations and concerns across the state into a youth development policy document that would represent a pact between the Youths and the incoming administration. The content of this pact would be culled from position papers drawn from different youths organization and from youth representatives across the 260 wards in Enugu State. The *Enugu Youth Development pact* would represent the documented overall interest of Enugu Youths and any Governorship candidate that adopts it would enjoy the unanimous support and endorsement of the Youths constituency. Subsequently, The Enugu Youth support group will swing into action in total support of our signee Governorship Candidate.

4. Conclusively, this press conference would be incomplete without addressing the entirety of Enugu Youths who are and will remain the major actors in the 2023 election theatrics. We enjoin young people to get ready with their PVC as it is the only truly effective weapon in the coming election. Those who are yet to collect their PVC from INEC should as a matter of necessity do so as soon as possible. Young people must realize their value and their role as it concerns electioneering. We must resist every urge to be used as agents of any form of destabilisation. The social dominance of the youth population in Nigeria is by implication a major variable for establishing, driving and sustaining social order or disorder. There is then no doubt that the atmosphere of the 2023 elections is highly dependent on the character and disposition of young people in the state. Electoral violence in any guise must be shunnned at all cost. The desire for a free, fair and credible elections must be backed by deliberate and concerted efforts from every well meaning Youth in the state.

Signed:

Politics / Of Enugu Primary Election Losers And The Cost Healing by Eagleeye101: 10:26am On Jul 10, 2022
OF ENUGU PRIMARY ELECTION LOSERS AND THE COST HEALING

By Ugwuagbo Emmanuel Chizoba

2022 Primary Election Results in Enugu State is arguably the most shocking one in the State since the return to democracy in 1999.

This is not necessarily because anything different happened during the Primaries that didn't happen in previous election years, it was rather because some groups of people have given false hopes to different political newbies that they have the capacity to hijack the system and overturn it for their own benefits.

These groups of people who obviously overestimated their capacities began in 2020 to indoctrinate and incite unsuspecting political newbies in the state, first to attack the State Governor in various vicious ways using any means possible.

They sold to their new mob, the dumb idea that the Governor of the State is too weak and would be armtwisted into doing their bidding. Hence they birthed the slogan; "Ike is Coming", a move that tended to portray that the Governor had lost his status as the political leader of the State, and as such, couldn't direct his people on whom to take over from him in the appropriate Senatorial Zone.

With time, these individuals began to believe and internalize their own lies, and gradually began to feel like they truly had the powers that they lied to the newbies that they had. So, they became bold and launched a vicious campaign of calumny against the governor and his loyalists.

In all, the Governor remained quiet and treated everyone will love and gentility. An act which sealed their beliefs that the governor doesn't have the capacity to do the needful.

As the campaign continued, people from the Governor's zone decided to launch a counter attack by coming up with their own movement, such that if the Ike is Coming group insists on destroying the existing zoning formula, then they too would insist on holding onto power, especially when they have the needed population. This birthed the "Ka Isi-Uzo Jee" movement.

At the helm of both movements are Sen. Ike Ekweremadu and Rt. Hon. Barr. Chijioke Edeoga. And so the struggle continued for 2 years, with both groups totally underestimating the Governor's capacity.

It got to a point where the group loyal to Ka Isi-Uzo Jee movement started threatening that if they didn't carry the day, they would join forces with Ike Ekweremadu to defeat the Governor.

On the other hand, the Ekweremadu group boasted that if the governor doesn't choose their principal, they would join forces with Nkanu to dislodge Edeoga. Yet Gov. Ugwuanyi remained silent.

Like a people surviving on opium, the events of the Ward delegate congresses didn't make either of the groups to accept that they were predestined to fail.

This was why when the results of the Primaries started trickling in and it became obvious that Gov. Ugwuanyi is completely incharge and has a watertight system that can't be penetrated.

This was what sent shocks to everyone in the state as the Primaries election results shattered all they have been injected with consistently for two years, and they suddenly woke up to the reality.

This reality hurts them to the bone marrow. The reality that a man they spent 2 years maligning, attacking, criticizing, insulting and bastardizing his good name and office has come out tops with a resounding victory, while those they believed in more than they believe in God did not just fail but chickened out cowardly.

It's this hurt that has been difficult to heal from, for almost 2 months. For Everytime they see the smiling pictures and videos of the governor which are pretty much everywhere, it pricks their hearts and they wish they can turn back the hands of time.

To heal from this hurts, these various groups must realize that the genesis of their problem is that they started hating a man that has done them no known wrong, they started taking his meekness for weakness and they looked upon him with scorn. An innocent man that has done you no wrong.

The antidote, the cost of healing is to simply accept the truth that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi has not hurt a soul in Enugu and has continued to do his very best to deliver good governance to his people. It is to realize that you have been on the wrong lane, and then make U-turn and reciprocate Ugwuanyi's love for you and the state in appropriate measure.

However, instead of healing, these groups of people thinks it's best to form an alliance against the governor through Rt. Hon. Chijioke Edeoga in the Labour Party. An act that would leave them with further heartbreak.

They said that he whom the gods want to kill, they will first of all make mad. Good luck to those who have chosen to labour for the Lion Building in vain.

Politics / Nigeria's Un Permanent Representative Receives Npa President In Geneva by Eagleeye101: 7:00am On Jun 30, 2022
Assent To New Copyright Bill Will Address Challenges In The Publishing Industry – Nigeria’s UN Rep Assures Dr. Anioke, President, NPA

By poopola Adeniyi

Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nation’s Office at Geneva, Switzerland, H.E Ambassador Abiodun Richards Adejola has expressed the hope that President Muhammadu Buhari’s assent to the new Copyright bill will address several issues, including piracy, associated with Intellectual property (IP) in the country.

The UN Permanent Representative gave the assurance recently, when he received in audience, the President of the Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA), Dr. Uchenna Cyril Anioke, and the Secretary General of International Publishers Association (IPA), José Borghino, at the Nigeria’s Mission in Geneva, Switzerland.

Ambassador Adejola further stated that the domestication of any ratified International Treaty will involve procedures that will consider national peculiarities, as well as take into cognizance views and opinions of civil societies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and Pressure groups.

He also gave the assurance that the Permanent Mission would continue to make wide consultations before taking decisions on matters of national concern.

The UN Permanent Representative appreciated the International Publishers Association (IPA) and Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA) for their resilience, despite the hurdles of piracy and absence of a clearly stated regulations to drive both the administration of creative industry and monitor saboteurs.

He said that Nigeria’s intervention in the Limitations and Exceptions (L&Es) Agenda Item 8 of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Standing Committee on Copyright and related Rights (SCCR) forty-second session was only an obligation as member of the African bloc.

Introducing Dr. Anioke to the Permanent Representative , the IPA Secretary General, José Borghino, apart from appreciating Ambassador Adejola for the audience granted to IPA and NPA, informed him that there will be unintended consequences if the Exceptions and Limitations are pursued as a way to access protected content for free.

According to Mr Borghino, creative industries in Africa and in many other countries around the world which are struggling to survive due to the devastating effects of piracy will further be hardy hit.
In his words, “adding overbroad exceptions will take away what is left of the market, already devastated by piracy.”
In addition, Mr Borghino maintained, “if national Publishers can’t recoup their investments, they won’t be able to continue to produce and distribute national works by local authors or local textbooks to respond to children and students’ needs.”
This he said, will be “to the detriment of cultural diversity, education, preservation of national cultures and freedom of expression.”

Addressing the Permanent Representative, the NPA President, Dr. Uchenna Cyril Anioke, thanked the Ambassador for granting him audience within a short notice, describing Ambassador Adejola as a quintessential diplomat and worthy representative of Nigeria.

Dr. Anioke further informed Mr. Adejola that he was in Geneva, as a member of the IPA team to WIPO SCCR 42.

He used the opportunity to inform the Permanent Representative that he had on Tuesday, 10th May, 2022 addressed WIPO African Group on the need not to expand and broaden exceptions and limitations in the education sector of the publishing ecosystem in Nigeria.

The NPA President then appealed to Ambassador Adejola to use his good offices to lobby members of the African Group not to broaden the exceptions and limitations in the education sector.
Dr Anioke equally informed the Permanent Representative that the proposal by the WIPO African Group for overbroad exceptions and limitations will not be in tandem with the contents and spirit of the Amendment Copyright Bill before the National Assembly.

According to Dr Anioke, “What Nigerians and indeed African publishers need now is for the African Group to facilitate international book exchanges, encourage collaborations with the global publishing and tech giants; intervene in whichever way possible for foreign investors to invest in paper mills and above all, help African publishers to develop up-to-date capacities needed for sustainable publishing environment.”

“Conversely, what we do not need now and in the nearest future, is broadening exceptions and limitations in the education sector that would be damaging to the business model for educational publishers in Nigeria and Africa in general,” Anioke further stated.
Firmly, Dr Anioke concluded;
“For certain, broadening exceptions and limitations would therefore leave our students, teachers and educational system impoverished of local content, written by local authors and produced by local publishers.”

Politics / Constant Comparison Between Enugu And Other States; Fallacy Taken Too Far. by Eagleeye101: 7:22pm On Jun 27, 2022
CONSTANT COMPARISON BETWEEN ENUGU AND OTHER STATES; FALLACY TAKEN TOO FAR.

✍️ By Ogbodo Miracle Chinenye.

Each day of our lives, we live up to choices, which ranges from what to eat, what to wear, where to go, etc. Chances are that one made a choice after considering alternatives and choosing the one that best suits them for whatever reason that pleases them.

This decision making process has to do with a lot of comparison, which alternatively states that most of us compare all the time which makes comparison part of our every day life.

Comparative politics is the systematic study and comparison of the diverse political systems in the world. It is comparative in searching to explain why different political systems have similarities or differences and how developmental changes came to be between them. It is systematic in that it looks for trends, patterns, and regularities among these political systems.

According to James Bill, comparative politics is fundamentally the study of political forms and processes in two or more than two political contexts or environments.

When embarking on comparative studies of state governments in Nigeria, we need to acknowledge two things; the individuality of each of the states (talking out its distinct peculiarities like political history, political problems, and it’s cultural heritage), and the commonality of a number of political structures and processes in both states ( these are those things that are peculiar to the both states like, political structures and a sitting government, the power and responsibility of making decision for the state).

Undertaking a comparative examination of Nigerian states, one has to keep the lines above in mind. That is to say that for one to undertake a comparative analysis of Nigerian States, the first level of comparative analysis would be geared essentially towards explaining the differences in the physiognomy and dynamics of Nigerian states and could inform theory building on such issues as why different Nigerian state have different political needs and different levels of economic development, why they choose a particular models of distributing power and other political resources, etc.

On the second level of comparison, one can attempt to appreciate the different degrees to which identical political phenomena occur or function in Nigerian states. At this point, some identical phenomena exists like the existence of political structures, the workings of political parties, Problems of Urbanization, and problems of local government.

It is instructive to note that the constant comparison of Enugu State with other states in Nigeria is a fallacy taken too far because in the commonality of these states, there is little or zero identical political phenomena. There is no uniformity in the monthly revenue of the federal government to each state, there is the presence of federal character principles, no state in Nigeria has same number of local government which breeds unequal representation in federal constituencies the only thing left in this part is the senatorial zone structure which every state in Nigeria produces three(3) Senators each.

Comparing Enugu State and other Nigerian States will require for the comparative researcher to answer the question of having access to data from each of the states Enugu is being compared to; is the data measurable? How was it generated? Have you taken note of the cultural diversity of each states and it’s effect on political and economic development before comparing these states to Enugu.

Lately, few unprofessional, politically induced comparative researchers rose in Enugu political atmosphere to unjustifiably compare the state with other states in Nigeria, while showing blind sight to the principles of comparative studies and this calls for the concern of the Noble Citizens of Enugu.

In conclusion, comparative politics is about serious issues: war and peace, democracy and authoritarianism, market-based and state-based economies, prosperity and poverty, health-care coverage, and so on.

Given the tremendous diversity that exists in our country, and the fact that no one state is “better” than all the others on every count, there is always room for improvement. The job of the comparativist researcher is to make comparisons less subliminal and random, and more deliberate and systematic, especially in the things that are critical to national peace and development.

Furthermore, the good people of Enugu will always be grateful to God for a Leader like His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Lawerence Ugwuanyi.

BARR UGOCHUKWU AGBALLA'S STATEMENT IS A SIGN OF CONCEDING DEFEAT BEFORE ELECTION SAYS APC ELDERS

Azubike Egwu

The National Publicity Secretary of APC Elders Forum Enugu State Chapter , a support group under of the Ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Dr charles Ogbu has described statement accredited to Barr Ugochukwu Agballa as an act of cowardice and show of acceptance of defeat, 6 months to the General Election.

Barr Ugochukwu Agballa had on Sunday during a World press conference accused Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of bringing back thuggery to the state by giving his political God father, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani an opportunity to rise again after 8 years of political oblivion orchestrated by Sullivan Chime.

Barr Ugo Agballa in the said audio from the world press conference, allayed fears of a return to political banditry in Enugu state over what he called a heavy political mistake by a peace loving Governor of Enugu State; who he also described as his blossom friend.

In his reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of APC Leaders Forum, Dr Charles Ogbu, called Barr Agballa's statements as an act of pusilanmity and faintheartedness.

He stated that, Barr Agballa lack the necessary leadership prowess to move Apc because, his heart is always in PDP and imagined what concerns Apc that he claims to lead with activities of their rivals, PDP.

"Barr Ugochukwu Agballa has shown that, he is so much interested in PDP than Apc"

"How can a so called Apc Chairman cry foul over what happened in another political party to an extent of organising a world press conference to allay his fears"

"From his dictions, it is crystal clear that, it is of a defeatism and he has to be cautioned"

"Ebeano Political family has no business with APC because, APC is a different entity"

He also stated that, Barr Ugochukwu AGBALLA'S time as the chairman of Apc is up having done more harm than good to the party and trying to make the party an object of mockery to the citizens of the state; as with an expected victory from the court over the leadership tussle of Enugu APC as well as the coming of Senator Ike Ekweremmadu into APC under chairmanship of a progressive charismatic leader, comrade Ac Ude, that electoral victory is assured.

"Barr Ugochukwu Agballa should know that his time is up in APC Enugu State '

" His gimmicks wouldn't work again as all his plans against the progress of APC in Enugu state has been unveiled "

" We are optimistic that, the court will soon send him parking and usher in a new leadership under comrade Ac Ude"

"A leader that would be boosted with the coming of Senator Ike Ekweremmadu which would in turn, signal the end of PDP over bearing in Enugu State"

"It would happen very soon"

BARR UGO AGBALLA, ACCUSED ON WORKING WITH PDP TO KILL APC IN ENUGU STATE

AS GROUP SAYS : HIS TIME IS UP AS APC CANNOT BE MORTGAGED TO PDP IN ENUGU STATE.

There seems to be series of revelation about the activities of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress APC in Enugu state as the embattled chairman, Barr Ugochukwu Agballa, has been accused of collecting money from Enugu state Government to distabilise the party and make PDP stronger.

Recall that Barr Ugochukwu Agballa had received series of attacks since he dubiously took the position which was seen by many as a grand plot by Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Enugu State to make the party weaker, with an aim of taking all the available political positions in the state .

The APC leaders Forum has come out to accuse the state chairman of collecting a whooping sum of ₦500,000,000(Five Hundred Million Naira) as well as road contracts and houses and lands in 3 estates owned by the state government, as a thank you package to kill Apc in Enugu state.

In a statement made by the National Publicity of the Group , Dr Charles Ogbu and sent to newsmen in Accra Ghana on sunday , he stated that, they have incontrovertible evidence that, Barr Ugochukwu Agballa has been doing the bidding of the peoples democratic party PDP in Enugu State.

He stated that, Barr Agballa was sent as a 3rd force in PDP to ensure that, APC ENUGU, that has grown her membership to over 180,000 is left in amaranthine, ageless and interminable crisis which would premise till after 2023 elections, before he would defect back to PDP.

He posited that, The state chairman is doing this with another stooge of PDP, from Nkanụ East local Government, whose itinerants has been catered for by the state government after being rewarded with an Igweship position that was given to his elder brother in Nara , for her job well done in APC, during the 2019 elections, where she took the party to court to nullify our Senatorial primaries.

According to him
"we are still wondering why the national leadership of Apc has refused to see that, Barr Ugochukwu Agballa has been killing our party"

"He was recently awarded a contract, to construct a street road in Enugu North Local Government Area outside promises of a plot of land in Himalayan Estate, a house in Coal city Estate and 2 other lands at Independence layout phase 2"

"This same Barr Ugochukwu Agballa was used in 2019 to bribe some Apc local Government party chairmen, with a sum of ₦1 million naira each , to ensure that they collect the results of Gubernatorial elections and submit to him;an election which the party decided not to contest"

"His mission in APC is simple, to block a former Senator, whose downfall in PDP, were already arranged and ensure, that his entrance in APC, is made useless because, he is the only person, that can challenge PDP in Enugu state and win"

"Barr Ugochukwu AGBALLA'S other mission is to make sure that, APC fields feeble candidates in 2023 so as to be able to get less than 10%votes during the presidential election"

The Group stated that, from all indications, that Barr Ugbochukwu Agballa has been doing well in his duty as agreed with PDP and wonders why Apc leaders have refused to sanction him.

They warned that, APC may not have any candidate come 2023 in Enugu state of nothing is done as his membership of the party is still being challenged in the Federal High Court Abuja.

They however, called on the leadership of the party, to act fast while there is little time or risk the party being made a PDP, extension in Enugu state.

"We are still asking our party leaders in Enugu state the reason behind their silence"

"Apc is being Raped daily and her electoral values diminishes, all because, we were imposed with a clueless and asinine chairman, whose only interest is to kill the party"

"The party is losing her members on a daily basis and we have not fielded any serious candidate, because, someone wants his agreement with PDP, to be fulfilled"

"WE call on the National leadership of the party, to come to our rescue else the party would be doomed"

Jubilation in the South East as as Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi commission 5.4km road project funded by the entrepreneur

An outstanding entrepreneur and illustrious son of Ishienu Amagunze Community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Capt. Evarest Nnaji, popularly known as “Odengene”, has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his passion and special interest in developing the long neglected rural areas in the state.

Capt. Nnaji, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Odengene Airshuttle Services (OAS), described Gov. Ugwuanyi as “a good man” who has demonstrated enormous commitment to the wellbeing of the rural dwellers through his administration’s rural development policy.

Speaking when the governor inaugurated the 5.4km Amagunze asphaltic concrete road he (Nnaji) constructed, the OAS boss pointed out that “elsewhere governors will build roads and other development projects where people will clap hands and take pictures, but our governor (Ugwuanyi) goes to the rural areas, where people who ordinarily will never be remembered live and fix their roads without unnecessary publicity”.

Capt. Nnaji maintained that Gov. Ugwuanyi has connected the hinterlands, “where ordinarily nobody will think of tarred road”, with development projects, disclosing that it was because of the governor’s steadfastness and passion for the rural dwellers that he was spurred to construct the road to support his administration’s grassroots development programmes.

He stressed that “government cannot provide road every place at the same time”, adding that the project was part of his Corporate Social Responsibility to his community and the state.

Capt. Nnaji who appreciated Gov. Ugwuanyi for coming to inaugurate the road project after he flagged it off nine months ago, explained that the 5.4km road connects four autonomous communities and would assist the rural dwellers in so many ways.

“Your Excellency, you are doing wonderful things in Enugu State. The other day, I went to Nsukka Township Stadium to see for myself a 5,000 capacity stadium built and completed by your administration. We know of the ongoing ESUT Teaching Hospital and College of Medicine project at Igbo-Eno. We know what that project will do for Enugu State and the healthcare of people and beyond, among other numerous infrastructural projects.

“What I want to tell our people is let’s support our government; we have a very sincere governor; somebody who is God’s man, who will not take you for granted.

“Your Excellency, thank you for your prayers and moral support. We will not take it for granted. We will continue to appreciate you sir”, he said.

Inaugurating the road, Gov. Ugwuanyi expressed delight at the landmark event and joined the people of Amagunze and environs in celebrating “this community-spirited gentleman for the delivery of this high utility road”.

The governor urged all users of the road to own and protect the key infrastructural asset and observe road traffic safety protocol.

Gov. Ugwuanyi, who noted that the road was the second privately funded project in the council area within the life of his administration, stated that the trend is most worthy of commendation as well as emulation by persons with the wherewithal.

He added that the continuing partnership between his administration and public-spirited individuals in infrastructure provisioning is a welcome development, saying: “Odengene, you evidently made a tough choice; a choice to improve the lives, living and livelihood of your people in preference to other competing personal needs.

“You have made indelible footprints on the sands of time. The verdict of history will be kind to you. Please accept our sincere commendations. I pray the almighty God to bless you, give you peace, good health, longevity and outstanding prosperity in Jesus Name. Amen”.

Earlier in their separate goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Gender Affairs and Social Development, Rt. Hon. Princess Peace Nnaji, the immediate past Chief Judge of Enugu State, Hon. Justice Priscilla Ngozi Emehelu (Rtd), the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Engr. Michael Ogbuekwe, the Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, Hon. Okechukwu Edeh and HRH Igwe .O. Nwatu commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for peace and good governance in Enugu State.

They equally applauded the governor for providing the enabling environment which made it possible for Capt. Nnaji and other good-spirited indigenes of the state to contribute to infrastructural development.

On a special note, Hon. Justice Emehelu paid glowing tribute to Gov. Ugwuanyi for his administration’s unprecedented infrastructural interventions in the State Judiciary.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ferotex Construction Company Limited, the firm that constructed the road, Chief Festus Onu, expressed gratitude to Gov. Ugwuanyi for giving the company the opportunity to work in the state.

Chief Onu thanked Capt. Nnaji for awarding the job to the company and went further to thank the people of the community for their cooperation during the construction of the road, assuring that the road was delivered to standard according to the specification.

Dignitaries at the event include the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi; the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo; Bishop Emeritus of Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Most Rev. Yes, Nkanu East is great but we can make it greater and realise our dream local government. We can make her the best among the local governments in Enugu State.

Quality, efficient and effective representation is the answer. My representation will go beyond making laws and policies as I will do my best to always engage the executive and negotiate to ensure that all that is due for NKANU EAST is delivered as and when due.

It is my earnest expectation that all the 14 political wards of Nkanu East will witness the impact of my legislative representation both in terms of accruable benefits of competent law making and also in terms of leveraging on the position to impact positively on the Local Government. It follows by extension that Enugu State in general will be better as a result.

Thanks for your love and kind support.

I remain,

Your Loyal Servant

A clarion call for Ndi Enugu Delegate to option for Odengene

By Nkanu Ebuka youth.

In the field of leadership there are lot of things to be considered but the fundamentals are "Humility and Intellectuality".

Politics / Those fueling amber of war in our federal Constutiency should Stop. by Eagleeye101: 10:29pm On Apr 30, 2022
Who is Afraid of Rt Hon Dr Pat Asadu

As Concerned Nsukka/ Igbo- Eze South Youths warn those fueling apparent crises to thread with caution

While following the activities as concerned Nsukka / Igbo - Eze South Rescue or Destroy Mission, it is on record that the majority of the peace loving people of Nsukka are laughing. Laughing at the foolery of asking Rt Hon Dr Pat Asadu to abdicate his post and not vie for election despite the constitution and the electoral granting him endless rights to run and there being no record of any meetings between the sister local governments on any zoning or rotation.
Laughing that the chief proponent of asking the Governor to pick candidates for us to vote for has now abandoned such a gesture by going to contest for the House of Reps.

We need to re emphasize that the business of legislation has no tenure , not withstanding the fact that a gentle man agreement can solve all this problem. But in this case there is absolutely no agreement; either gentle manly or not.

Same gentle man agreement paved way fo Udenu seems to vie for the Senate seat when we all know that it is the turn of Igboeze South.

Those fueling crises in our Constituency should stop as we will no longer fold our hands and allow people ridicule out brother and able Rep ; the Rt Hon Pat Asadu anymore.
Hon.Pat Asadu is a renowned legislative leader who understands the assignment of leadership and representation.

Hon.Pat Asadu may be facing a lot of challenges as other aspirants who know not what the journey is all about are trying to pull him down.

And Rt Hon Pat Asadu has never been found wanting in the business of legislation.

It is very saddening that some group of people, mainly from Nsukka Local Government who collected millions of naira from some seasoned politicians and money bags- aspirants for the House of representatives have decided to to witch - hunt Dr Pat Asadu instead of them to lobby the delegates.

It is high time these people fueling amber of war in our federal Constutiency stop dragging our brother leader to the mud as we the concerned Nsukka/Igboeze South Youths will no longer tolerate such.

We are aware of the conspiracy and gang up against Dr Pat Asadu but let's meet @ the poll for the delegates to decide.

We here by call on the Council chairman of Nsukka Local Government, the PDP party Chairman of Nsukka Local Government, the State Chairman of PDP and the people's Governor of Enugu State to warn these miscreants as body of youths has the monopoly of protest. The meager numbers that gathered and the story that even the N2k promised each protester could not be paid is a signal that God’s hand is with Dr Pat Asadu and when God says yes; nobody can say no.

We will not tolerate any other attempt to dent the image of Dr Asadu or any other aspirants by some seasoned political thugs and money bags aspirants in the upcoming house of Rep primary elections.
A stitch should be enough for the wise.

Signed
Concerned Nsukka/Igboeze South Youths,

Politics / More Troubles For Apc by Eagleeye101: 7:36am On Apr 07, 2022
STOP CREATING MORE PROBLEMS FOR APC, SOUTH EAST GROUP WARNS CHAIRMAN.

By Sadiya Gberogi

There are signs of another riotous scenario in the South East chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC following a letter written by the zone's National Vice Chairman of the party, Dr Ijoma Arodiogbu.

Dr Arodiogbu had in a dateless letter entitled, "Notice of Warning to Splinter Groups in the Zone" which he signed and sent to newsmen, threatened wearing members of the party, who are still fighting for justice, over injustices meted out on them by Buni led Caretaker Committee during the Congresses, of being expelled from the party should they fail to follow, support and pledge their unalloyed loyalty the recognised party structure within the next 72 hours.

The letter, despite having no date on it, Went viral to the exasperation of the party members and interest Group within and outside the party.

One of the groups who got embarrassed by the said letter, is the South East foremost socio Political group, South East Political watchdog.

The Group sees the statement as an affront and emotional blackmail to the members of the party, who were treated with disdain, dispisal and prejudice.

South East Political watchdog in a statement issued by her National Publicity Secretary, Engr Paul Eche and sent to newsmen in Enugu, he stated that, Dr Arodiogbu erred woefully in the statement attributed to him as such is a lampoonery of the reality of what is going on in the party.

He stated that, the National Vice Chairman should have been very conservative with his speech instead of displaying gross superciliousness and hubris, because the effect of the negative impact would be adverse and cataclysmic on the party.

According to him "Dr Arodiogbu has through his First statement shown that he lacks deportment and urbanity"

"His dictions aside the grammatical structure of that statement is a ridicule to the party and he has to be cautioned"

"How can he address his party members in such a profane manner?"

"For Someone who is part of the problem facing the party in the zone, whose position is also not in contention to utter such a vituperative comment calls for questions over his mission in the party."

He stated that, Dr Ijoma Arodiogbu should tighten his belt, to embrace the challenges facing his office and abstain from making lewd and interbred Comments, tantamount to burying the party in the zone.

He suggested that, the New National Vice Chairman if confused on what it takes to pilot the affairs of the party at a zonal level, should go and learn from his predecessor and Current Deputy National Chairman South, Hon Emma Eneukwu, who he said, made a lot of progress in galvanizing supports for the party .

"Dr Arodiogbu should go and learn from our Current Deputy National Chairman South, Hon Emma Eneukwu on how to run the party at the zonal level :instead of destroying the legacies that he built"

"He should know that the party is still not loved or liked by the people of the zone and i wonder what he intends to achieve by threatening the party members who have right to seek for justice and associate peacefully with others"

"I wonder why the National Chairman would be busy working on how to resolve all the problems facing the party by implementing his reconciliation reports, as well as organising a credible party primaries and Dr Arodiogbu is more interested in creating more problems for the party in his zone "

"Dr Arodiogbu and his Boss, Governor Hope Uzodinma cannot use this pattern to deliver any vote for the party in South East"

"Except They are working for PDP as some people have been saying"

"Threats of expulsion to party members that he met when he joined the party cannot win any election in the zone"

"We want an alternative to PDP in South East Zone and with what is going on in APC, they are being positioned to fail"

Politics / Who Is Afraid Of The Rt. Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu By Kelvin Ugwuanyi by Eagleeye101: 2:11pm On Apr 05, 2022
Who is afraid of the Rt. Hon. Dr. Pat Asadu
Ohamadike should sell himself to the delegates
ASADU has the inalienable right under the Nigerian constitution to vie for any seat he is qualified for.
He is a great Medical Dr and a first class Lawyer; the parliamentarians parliamentarian
Ohamadike knows and Enugu knows his business as a born liar and international scammer
He wasted the proceeds of his crime, running for Governor, Senate and House of Reps and losing serially.
He knows he will lose his Ward, Development Center and Local Government in any primaries against Dr Asadu.
Nsukka and Igbo - Eze South know what he did against the Governor of Enugu State in choosing Ideke and announcing same for the people to vote for against the same Governor he now grovels before to feed his family.
We have records of his massive land stealing and his infamous public building as Commissioner for Housing which the Governor has been managing.
He is lucky that Dr Asadu does not worry about lies from people with his reputation.
He should settle his debts to the state government and apologize to the Governor for his embarrassment of the state government.
His selling his last property in Lagos to do a swan fight will end in monumental failure.
We know that Dr Asadu would not waste his precious time meeting with an Ohamadike who takes pleasure in talking about fairness, equity and justice while his aspirations stand against all of these key ingredients of Presidential Democracy both within his Nsukka LGA and the Federal Constituency .

It’s only within his scammer driven madness that his Nsukka Urban should take the PDP Chairmanship, the Local Government Council and he will be pushing the other 16 Wards of Nsukka Local government to nothingness.

Worse for a so called Lawyer to be pushing that a sitting member of the Nigerian Parliament cannot run for an office he is qualified for based on Peter Okonkwo’s lies and blackmails and not on the members own free will.

We hope the Rt.Hon Dr Pat Asadu will drag this clown before the court to face S .24 of the Cyber Crime Act 2015.

Being a so- called Lawyer, Ohamadike will be able to prove his perfidious lies or go to jail for which he has since been qualified. Dr Asadu can also wait for a later date as crimes have no time limit.
