30 billion and 18 months for a 6.8km road.

Well, I have seen the road when it was in disrepair, I have passed inside the gutter because it is better that the actual road so I can't help but be happy for the residents that will use the road.

Congratulations to Aba people, the cost nonetheless, that road deserves to be done.

Civil service is now a scammed organization.
They are now the poorest employee, especially government workers. It's too bad that they can't level their peers in other countries.

ProgrammingRe: Why I Won't Use AI To Code Or Code Completion Tools by EasternActivist: 10:56pm On May 03, 2025
Kaczynski:
When I code, I don't use AI and I don't even use code completion, this post is about why not.Let's begin with AI. The reason why I don't use AI, besides from what I will explain in a moment about code completion, is because I have yet to see useful results beyond what is comparable to ripping of code snippets from Stack Overflow. Yes, AI can certainly produce much code, more that snippets, but what it produces is ripped off snippets of code from here and there. Often the code doesn't work or it contains security problems.

AI is hyped up to be something it isn't and it's "stupidity" (you can't really call it stupid, because it cannot be smart to begin with) is concealed behind what appears to be solid and authoritative answers. Still it knows absolutely crap about what it is doing.I am not saying that it's not useful at all. If what you're doing to begin with is copy/pasting code from Stack Overflow or elsewhere, then sure, because Google and other search engines have become so bad, AI can often provide you with relevant answers much faster than you shifting through page after page of useless Google Junk. But then you will reap what you sow.

Whenever you get a code snippet from an AI, try to search the Internet for that piece of code, you will fairly quickly discover where it was ripped off from and why it's generally a bad idea to use such code. But even if AI truly did produce really good code, I would not use it for the same reason that I don't use code completion.

Back in the days, before the mobile phone was widely used, and even a short while after that, we used to have personal phone books. This could be a small notebook, or even a simple piece of paper. On that we would put all the important phone numbers of family, friends, co-workers, etc. When we needed to call someone, and they had a new phone number, we looked it up in the book, then punched in the numbers and called the person. When we had done that a couple of times, the number stuck and we no longer needed to look.

Now, with modern phones and their build in phone books, it's so easy to call people without typing in their phone number that we just don't bother anymore. The result is that we cannot even remember the numbers of our parents or children.Code completion works the same way. It's convenient and it saves you time, just like the build in phone book, but it makes you less proficient at coding.

When you code without AI and without code completion you eventually remember much by heart and you become good at looking things up directly in the relevant documentation, and this is really important.

don't assume that I am saying that you should never use tools that will help you get the job done, that's not what I am saying. Using a calculator to do math is often easier and faster than doing the all the calculations manually, and that can be really helpful. But simply punching in the numbers without understanding the math will never make you a good mathematician.
Grow up please

Even from your last statement, tell me one good mathematician that doesn't make use of calculator.

Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital(NAUTH) in Nnewi Anambra State Now The Biggest Hospital In Nigeria And West Africa With 2000 Bed Capacity

Since Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi moved from their temporary site to their permanent site in Umudim Nnewi two years ago,it has been all blessings for the health sector of Anambra and Nigeria.

The permanent site started functioning with just one building built by some individuals under the umbrella of Anambra Progressives with Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah convened.
For the first time, the teaching hospital went digital as everything done inside the building was automated.

The biggest blessing happened when Prof. Joseph Ugboaja was appointed as the Chief Medical Director(CMD) of the hospital. He came with so many big dreams. He promised to make Nnewi a hub for medical tourism by making Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital the biggest hospital in Nigeria.

Nobody took his big vision so serious,as everyone thought he would be like other CMDs that have come before him.

Few months down the line as a CMD and many more buildings have been set up,equipped and functional.

How did the magic happen?

Even as Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital belongs to the Federal government ,Dr Ugboaja never waited for federal budget to build projects in the hospital. He understands the power of public private partnership and he's been making optimal use of it.

As Anambra especially Nnewi is a place blessed with so many well to do individuals,Dr Ugboaja has been strategic enough to be reaching out to the rich and wealthy people in Nnewi and Anambra, selling his dreams of making Nnewi a city of medical tourism with NAUTH to them. That was how the permanent site of the teaching hospital took a new turn.

Almost every week now, a new foundation for a new project is laid.Money is no longer the problem as funding is now coming from both private and public sectors.

Few days ago was the second anniversay of the permanent site and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital has surpassed University College Hospital in Ibadan which is 1200 bed capacity to become the biggest in Nigeria with 2000 bed capacity.
It has also become the biggest hospital in West Africa alongside Korle Blu hospital in Ghana which also has 2000 bed capacity.

This is capacity.This is excellence.
Beautiful, just that the service is eluding the poor

It's just not possible anymore for me to believe totally what I've studied and taught about the globe earth. There are lots of unanswered questions.

1. Why do pilots not adjust the airplane for the sake of the earths curvature? They don't and they do not fly away to space.

2. On the sea shore, why do we see ships with a binoculars after they disappear from our eyes, and after they disappear from a binoculars we can see them with a telescope?

3. Why does the earth look totally flat in videos of individuals who have sent balloons high up as against the curvature we see when NASA posts their videos.

4. If the sun is 93 million miles away from the earth, how is Nigeria so hot and at same time the USA 3,000-4,000 miles away is in winter?

5. Why have all individual experiments (since the Bedford experiment in the 1800's) to measure the curvature of the earth all shown that there is no curvature?
I have one question for you, if the earth is flat why haven't human being fallen off like a cliff to oblivion, or a ship fallen off too?

Obi1kenobi:
Because, like any serious democracy in the world where accountability matters, there should be serious questions about the cost and viability of such a project and how it would be funded - not simply applauding any white elephant, pie in the sky proposal that a governor makes regardless of the cost to the taxpayer. Rail projects are very expensive capital projects. The one that Lagos state started since the days of my childhood when Tinubu was governor (about 20 years ago) is still barely half-way completed with both the blue and red line. Basically only Lagos and maybe Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom (if they don't loot all their oil derivation funds) are capable of funding a serious rail project. It also remains to be seen whether Lagos that has an operating line can run it profitably. Ordinary BRT is failing and decaying. Abuja's light rail is an epic failure and grotesque waste of taxpayer money (plus the debt that the FG are still servicing). Kaduna-Abuja rail is another grotesque waste that will soon be rotting away. Amaechi squandered N40billion of Rivers state money on a rotting monorail project (which is several hundreds of billions in today's money accounting for naira depreciation and inflation). Just because something sounds good because it's working in Europe or Japan or Dubai or wherever doesn't mean it will work here.

There is a lot of basic infrastructure lacking in many areas of Anambra that can be more immediately remedied (expanded rural and urban road networks, water supply, electricity etc). Or extending gas pipelines to Anambra industrial parks (which massively boosted Ogun state as Nigeria's industrial capital). I can absolutely guarantee you a rail project (which will extend far beyond Soludo's government and his successors) will be money flushed down the toilet on a white elephant project, after the contractors and state government officials have collected their share while saddling the state in unnecessary debt. The debt part is especially important. Anytime governors come up with these proposals, they must be asked how they intend to fund it, and if they intend to borrow and incur massive debt, tell them to fuukk off and go and find another way to steal money.
I read more worse comment than this in the airport project. I wasn't expecting any different this time too. But we know what the outcome will look like. You all must learn that Anambra state is a commercial hotbed. Quite different from other state and shouldn't be resting on her oars. To shock you, Anambra state are in the culture of utilizing it's scarce resources in providing infrastructures that are always utilized for the good of her people. Anambra state is a model on its own and with the image of God which many may not understand.

any project a governor attaches his name to has had a 100% failure rate after than administration. Why would the next person bolster something that has the name of another governor?

That practice has to be illegalized on the federal level because our governors are too animalistic to think about the future or care for something that promotes another rival
Anambra state governor's name is soludo and not solution.

Besides any other governor in future can decide to change the name if he wish to or it's a problem.

Soludo found the need for that infrastructure, he engineered and followed it through so he deserves to have whatever name he wants on it, for posterity.

Let's criticise constructively this one no follow
