TonySpike: I don't know how true this tariff comparison is. In South Africa where I resided for sometime, we payed about 1.5 Rands per KWh of Electricity, which is roughly about 27 Naira per KWh. My monthly electricity bill was roughly about 6300 Naira per month. I can't say of Egypt because I have never lived there... and the light dey dey steady, which I know, but here no light, my bill is 18000+. THunder. |

Politics › Re: Governor Ortom Unable To Pay Salaries After Borrowing N60 Billion In 7 Months by EasternLion: 4:46am On Jan 26, 2016 |
painment https://www.blogaboutpelvicpain.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Cover-3rd-Edition-PAIN-SOLUTIONS-e1429932577855.jpgomenka: I've always been very critical of Ortom's style of government even though he's an APC governor. I've talked about his owing salaries, complaining of paucity of funds while the fool went ahead to purchase cars for officials worth N1.5billion!!
The man so far is a huge failure, just like the governor before him, G. T. Suswam. If he continues on his current trajectory, the people of Benue would give him the boots in 2019, that I'm very sure of.
I've also criticised Akume and D-Mark several times here and insist they are not the kind of leaders we need. (Though Akume did quite a lot of good in his 8year leadership, he's now become some sort of demigod in the state installing whoever wherever).
Now, unlike me who could think things through dispassionately and criticise my own people when they do wrong and commend those different from me (like Muslims or the Hausas and Fulanis or even Igbos) you people are religious and tribal bigots and would see nothing wrong with whatever one does as long as he's a PDP member or an Igbo man.
Yall hate Okorocha and Ngige simply because they mingle with Northerners and belong to APC- what sense is there in that?? You hate ALL Muslims and hate ALL South Westerners except the blabbermouth cvnts FFK and Fayose simply because they are who they are and not because they did you wrong in any particular way- what sense is there in that??
Lastly, I will keep commenting on whatever topics and threads I wanna comment on as long as Nairaland remains a public forum and I'm not breaking the Rules- I'm afraid there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it.
Thanks. www.nairaland.com/attachments/1836641_jere_jpeg4bd759bbded4f8a4018ae12dfbd5248d |
Politics › Re: Why We Can’t Hand Over Tompolo To JTF, EFCC —ijaw Elders, Youths by EasternLion: 4:42am On Jan 26, 2016 |
kaypound: This is aiding and abetting criminality. If Tomopolo is wise. He shouldn't allow his people to suffer for his sins. Odi Remember some people are filing human right case against Buhari at ICC on 29th, do Odi again and let them get more evidence, even with all the human right abuse hanging on Buhari's head, you want him to do another one on a volatile area, do you people love that man Buhari at all, I have never seen wicked people like una. WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR BUHARI TO BE CHARGED AT THE ICC?How does the ICC operate?
The ICC is a permanent international court established to investigate, prosecute and try individuals accused of committing the most serious crimes of concern to the international community.
A case is usually brought by state or referred by the UN Security Council to a prosecutor, however, the prosecutions have to be approved by a judge before launching investigations.
The ICC only prosecutes individuals and it does not take into account the official position that may be held by these individuals.
What does this mean for Buhari?
If Buhari is found guilty of the charges brought against him at the ICC, he will not be exempt from facing the consequences if his actions. Lucas Koyejo, a Human Rights law practitioner noted that the president is not immune to ICC prosecution. He said, “If the President is charged with crimes against humanity, then his position does not make him insusceptible to a trial by the ICC.”
According to the rules of the court, “no one is exempt from prosecution because of his or her current functions or because of the position he or she held at the time the crimes concerned were committed. Acting as a Head of State or Government, minister or parliamentarian does not exempt anyone from criminal responsibility before the ICC. In some circumstances, a person in a position of authority may even be held responsible for crimes committed by those acting under his or her command or orders. Likewise, amnesty cannot be used as a defense before the ICC. As such, it cannot bar the Court from exercising its jurisdiction.”
Other presidents that have been indicted by the ICC
Laurent Gbagbo Gbagbo was the President of Cote d’ivoire from 2000 till 2011. Charged on four counts of crimes against humanity, he is case in trial and he’s being held at the ICC detention centre.
Omar Al-Bashir Al-Bashir is the first sitting head of state ever indicted by the ICC for crimes against humanity and genocide. However, since the warrant for his arrest has been issued, Al Bashir has refused to honour it. He has been declared a fugitive by the ICC.
The former Libyan President who ruled from 1969 till 2011. Before he was killed in October, he was indicted by the ICC in June 2011 on crimes against humanity based on the civil war in the country at the time. http://venturesafrica.com/what-does-it-mean-for-buhari-to-be-charged-to-icc/ |

Tompolo my man You dey pepper dem! "From the streets to the creeks, you too Tompolo" - Erigga (Wild Wild west, with a waff-town verse) Chief Etolor told Vanguard: “It is unfortunate that the Presidency wants to handle the matter from this angle. Which of the Northern elders did they tell to produce the Boko Haram leaders that are bombing in their areas. So, why are they telling us to handover people who bombed pipelines here? May your days be long Chief Etolor....you and your household and your inheritance... “The people of Niger Delta and the ljaw in particular are not at war with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. However, the ljaw will never sacrifice their bravest to satisfy the quest for neo-colonialism. When the moment comes, we shall stand with Tompolo. That line says it all, unlike what some vagabonds online will make you believe. Good one...My question is, why are some people crying "crucify him, he is a criminal, get him, kill him", while they can go any length to defend theirs. Please has anyone issued bench warrant for Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, with 1trn Naira fraud cases hanging on his head. The issue is that some people think others are still their mumu who they can command anyhow. If you want Tompolo, go and arrest him, stop threatening innocent elders, nonsense “I am not supporting criminality. In fact, anybody among us, the Ijaw elders, can be a victim anytime. It is difficult for us to produce Tompolo. If they cannot see him with all their intelligence, where do they expect us to see him? I have not even seen Tompolo myself for ages.”
On his part, Chief Gbenekame said, “How can you say we should hand over Tompolo to the EFCC, are we security agents? If he had dealings with EFCC, they should arrest him. Why are they calling Gbaramatu elders? Nna nawa oh, I don close book, matter don end. Elders wey get sense! Army, Police, DSS, Civil Defence, Navy, Customs, Airforce, Man O'war, yellow fever no know where Tompolo dey, na Elders thinking how to make ends meet una wan give intelligence job of trafficking Tompolo down. Wonders shall not seize in my time. |
