PoliticsAnambra Election: DA Candidate Concedes, Congratulates Obiano by Ebisco01(op): 10:31pm On Nov 21, 2017
Following the victory of candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Willie Obiano in the just concluded governorship election in Anambra State, another candidate has conceded.

The candidate of the Democratic Alternative (DA), Mr Ugo-Akpe Onwuka, in a press briefing in Awka told journalists that Obiano’s victory was well deserved, saying that neither he, nor his party would contest the outcome of the election in court.

Onwuka said he is rather worried by the level of voter apathy the state has been witnessing in recent years.

He said, “We had only about 400,000 votes in an election where INEC registered over two million voters, and I think that is apathy, and should worry us.

“It was the same in 2010 where we had only about 200,000 voters, and also in 2013, we had just about the same 400,000. This should worry us because 2019 is around the corner, and we will need all the votes we can have to be able to make impact.

“I do not think that the IPOB threat had anything to do with the apathy, because our state has always been so. That is why in congratulating the governor, I am saying that we should form a think tank that will galvanize voters for the state towards 2019.”

Onwuka also urged other candidates who were yet to congratulate the governor to do so and also think more of the state rather than their interest.

Recall that Mr. Oseloka Obaze; candidate of the PDP, Dr Tony Nwoye; candidate of the APC, Godwin Ezeemo; candidate of the PPA and Chief Osita Chidoka; candidate of the UPP had all conceded victory to Obiano.

PoliticsNdigbo Has Sold Itself To Buhari Cheaply – Eya by Ebisco01(op): 9:56am On Nov 18, 2017
A former Secretary-General of Ohaneze, Chief Nduka Eya, has warned Igbos over their romance with President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress.

Eya said Igbo sold themselves cheaply with the recent conferment of titles on Buhari.

The Ohanaeze chieftain told newsmen on Friday that, despite its unholy romance with Igbo, the region would not be tricked to vote APC ,in 2019 or today’s governorship election in Anambra.

He said, “Let them stop deceiving the Igbo. I want the Igbo to know that the APC can’t give us 2023 presidency. The Igbo can only get it with a two-third majority, not through the promises being made by the APC.

“The party thinks that Buhari’s presence in the Southeast will make the Igbo vote for the APC in 2019. That is not possible, except they rig the election. The Igbo are wiser now. Those people talking about supporting the APC so that we can have Igbo presidency in 2023 should forget about it.

‘’APC cannot be trusted. We are not even interested in it now, what the Igbo need is to put their house in order. We have the Deputy Senate President and Ohaneze leadership, who are expected to use their positions to rightly put our house in order.

“They should stop deceiving themselves. My message for Ndigbo is that they should not take that bait. When the party was campaigning for election, they promised to revive the coal corporation in Enugu. But we have not seen anything except a visit by some officials. We have terrible roads and they are not interested in any meaningful project in Igbo land. They can’t destroy the Igbo. They tried it for three years and it did not work.

“The former Eastern region was split by (Yakubu) Gowon to break the solidarity that existed in the region but we are still in tandem with the Efik, Ibibio and other tribes that made up the former Eastern region.

“The Igbo should not take that bait from a party that promised so many things and did nothing. What is the assurance that they will be committed to the promise when they are re-elected? That is even the time Buhari will tell the Igbo to go to hell because he will not be seeking re-election.

Eya added that traditional rulers in the region erred by giving Ochiloha title to Buhari

“I am also critical of the traditional rulers that gave him the title of Ochilioha of Ndigbo. They cheapened themselves with that action because the Igbo don’t even have a common title. For instance, if the Obi of Onitsha decides to give him a title, such title is for Onitsha and not for the entire Igbo. Even though Ebonyi State governor has endorsed him for a second term, Buhari cannot win in the Southeast.

“When the President visited the Southeast, I made a statement on Urban Radio where I hailed him for coming. I told him that we love him but are being careful of the Greek Gift he brought. APC promised change but they have spent three years blaming Jonathan and PDP.

Buhari said he belongs to nobody but we have seen where he belongs to by the virtue of the appointments he has made. The APC thinks we have forgotten the promises they made. They cannot be trusted. They talked about restructuring in their manifesto but turned around to search for the meaning of restructuring.”

PoliticsTinubu Reveals Why Buhari Must Increase Salaries Of Workers by Ebisco01(op): 9:02pm On Nov 16, 2017
Bola Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to review salaries of public servants upwards.

Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said the review of public servants salaries will help to reduce temptation.

He said this at the Old Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja at the presentation of a book titled “Making Steady, Sustainable Progress” written by the Presidential Media Team on Thursday.

Tinubu also noted that Buhari’s fight against corruption is far from won.

He said, “I would be lying if I say the war against large-scale corruption has been won. It has not. It will take time and countless swings of the axe to fall such a deeply rooted tree. But try we must. This is what the president is doing.

“Gone are the times when a minister can pilfer billions of dollars as easy as plucking a piece of candy from the table.”

He added that the president must “review the salaries of public servants and create universal credits for our people to reduce temptation.”

PoliticsEmeka Ojukwu, Bianca Are Betrayers – Biafra Youth League by Ebisco01(op): 12:26pm On Nov 16, 2017
Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has declared Emeka jnr and Bianca, son and widow of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, respectively, as “betrayers”

This is contained in a statement on Thursday by BNYL leader, Princewill Obuka.

Reacting to the defection of Emeka Ojukwu to the APC, Obuka stated that,”there is no sense in panicking”.

“Politics and independence movement are political activities but in two different categories, it doesn’t affect the struggle. Emeka jnr does not command respect among Igbos, neither do we look up to him.

”Ojukwu had many children; in all there must be bad egg for sure.

“But I think Debe Ojukwu the eldest among Ojukwu’s children has exhibited more maturity in identifying with the Biafran cause being on the legal side of the struggle as the lead counsel of Bilie Human Rights Initiative, and member of the Ikedife led IPOB Council of Elders.

”Even though he has his own political affiliation, we see him as someone who still respect what his father fought and lived for before he died”.

Continuing, the BNYL leader said the wife of Ojukwu, Bianca, also betrayed her husband immediately after his death by accepting appointment from Nigerian government as ambassador to Spain.

“In Igbo culture, when your husband dies, the respect you owe him is ‘Igba Mkpe’ (mourning mood) for couple of months, in that period you will avoid certain things, but she hurriedly accepted Jonathan’s appointment”.

Obuka, however, urged pro Biafra agitators to emulate the late literary icon, Chinua Achebe, who rejected appointment and awards from Nigerian government.

He said even in death, Achebe deserves commendation for “documenting his grievances in a novel titled ,’There was a country”.

SportsWhy Brian Idowu Could Be In Trouble At Russian Club For Playing For Nigeria by Ebisco01(op): 8:01am On Nov 16, 2017
Newly invited Amkar Perm defender, Brian Idowu could lose his place in the Russia league side for choosing to represent Nigeria.

Idowu came in as a substitute for the senior national team of Nigeria in their 4-2 win over Argentina on Tuesday, scoring the third goal.

The player could lose his nationality status as a Russian for playing in a competitive game for Nigeria.

Laws in Russia are against dual nationality for citizens meaning that he will need to give up his Russian citizenship.

Idowu, who had vowed to play for Nigeria in the World Cup, will first renounce his Russian citizenship before he will be able to obtain a Nigerian passport.

If that happens, his club Amkar Perm will lose a Russian citizen and it could prove costly judging by rules in the country which means only six foreign players and at least five Russian players are allowed to be on the pitch at the same time in a league game.

The 25-year-old had earlier admitted after the friendly against Argentina that his club is a bit uncomfortable with his decision to switch allegiance to Nigeria.

In the same vein, Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles coach, also said the foreign players’ limit in the Russian Premier League delayed Idowu’s debut for Nigeria.

PoliticsFayose Laments Buhari’s Refusal To Wish Him Happy 57th Birthday by Ebisco01(op): 9:36pm On Nov 15, 2017
Governor of Ekiti State and chairman of the Governorship Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ayodele Fayose has lamented ‎President Mohammadu Buhari’s refusal to wish him happy birthday.

Fayose on Wednesday marked his 57thbirthday in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Speaking with newsmen, Fayose said he wondered why Buhari did not deem it fit to send him goodwill message through any of his media aides.

He said, ”My wishes on my 57th birthday as Ayo Fayose are many but one of them which will interest you is that I wish ‎President Buhari’s congratulatory call would have woken me up today as one of the governors in the country, as a father of the nation and as a leading ‎opposition figures in the country. A fearless youngman who believes that things should be done rightly, to show himself as a father of all, preaching that we must extend love to everybody not only. Those in his political party.

“The president would have made a difference if he had extended such gesture to others beyond his political party. Such a congratulatory message should have been conveyed through his minister of information. I would have loved to either wake up receiving a congratulatory call from him or read it in the papers. But since it is not coming, it is not a big deal to me and I take no offence on it.

“I am not Buhari’s enemy. Opposition is the strength of democracy, it ensures that the electorates get value for their votes. Those who criticise your government are not. Your enemies, they are catalysts to your growth as a government.

“My birthday will be celebrated with the common man on the streets. All the gifts I have received from family, friends and associates will be shared to men and women on the streets of my state. This was what I did last year.

“I remain a factor no one can ignore in this country. Apart from the fact that I am a leading opposition, Nigerians respect my voice, they believe that I don’t compromise the truth no matter whose ox is gored.”

PoliticsEl-rufai Reacts To Fayose’s Comment On Sack Of Kaduna Teachers by Ebisco01(op): 12:27pm On Nov 15, 2017
Governor of Kaduna state , Nasir El-Rufai has reacted to Gov. Ayodele Fayose’s mockery of plan by the Kaduna governor to sack 22,000 teachers who purportedly failed competency test.

Fayose on Monday mocked El-Rufai’s plan to sack teachers, saying it is APC policy to retrench workers after promising to create jobs for Nigerians.

El-Rufai in defence of his planned action said the government is replacing unqualified people not sacking teachers. According to him, the aim is to save the future of the next generation.

El-Rufai said on twitter @GovKaduna, “Your excellency sir, we are not sacking teachers in kaduna, rather we are replacing unqualified people who are unfit to be called teachers to save the future of next generation.”

PoliticsAnambra Guber: Why We Withdrew Obiano’s ADC – IGP by Ebisco01(op): 10:47pm On Nov 14, 2017
Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has confirmed that he authorized the withdrawal of the Aide Camp (ADC) to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra.

Idris spoke during Election Stakeholders’ Forum organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday in Awka.

The IG explained that the development was based on the previous experience the police recorded whereby the military caught an ADC to “a governor” escorting a vehicle loaded with arms on Election Day.

“We do not mean anything bad to Anambra governor on this action; his ADC will be returned to him early Sunday morning after the governorship election on Saturday November 18.

“We have equally withdrawn all the policemen attached to political appointees, Local Government Chairmen and others in Anambra till after the election,” he said.

Idris said that the Police Force had deployed 26,000 personnel, 300 vehicles, three helicopters and 15 gunboats for the poll.

The deployment of policemen and other security personnel, he said, was not to cause panic, but to give the people the needed protection.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu assured that everything had been put in place for the conduct of credible, free and fair election.

Mahmood said that distribution of non-sensitive materials would commence on Thursday, while the sensitive materials would arrive the state via Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, same day.

“I will like to use this opportunity to declare as untrue the earlier claim by some people that sensitive materials for this election were uncovered in a hotel in Awka.

“The sensitive materials will arrive through the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and will be escorted like money to Awka by the Central Bank escort team on Thursday”.

PoliticsIkoyi Cash: We Refused To Pay Whistleblower Because He Would Go Mad – Presidency by Ebisco01(op): 9:51am On Nov 14, 2017
The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has stated that the Federal Government does not want the whistle-blower who informed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of the N13bn in an Ikoyi apartment to run mad.

According to him, the FG deliberately delayed the payment because he needed to be adequately counselled before such amount would be handed over to him.

Sagay said if the commission, which the whistle-blower claims is N860m, was given to him immediately, he probably would have squandered it within a month or two.

The presidential adviser told Punch that, “What I gathered from my inquiry is that the man is not sufficiently stable to receive such a huge sum of money. He is like someone who will almost run mental when he gets the money and will use it in an irresponsible manner, attracting not only undesirable people but even danger to himself.

“I think what they wanted to do for him was to provide counsellors. Not just counsellors for character and mental situation but counsellors who would be like consultants that would help him to really invest the money and plan in such a way that he doesn’t throw it away in five minutes.

“They are trying to help him. Nobody is denying him anything. They are trying to help him but he just misunderstands the intention and like everyone that has been deprived for a long time, he is so desperate to have it, but from what I can see, if they just give him everything, it won’t last more than a month or two because so many people will start finding ways to get to him and taking their portions from him. So, they were just trying to help him but he became hysterical.”

Sagay told Punch that the has decided to Federal Government to pay the whistle-blower in tranches, adding that such a method of payment would deter him from spending it all at once.

He added, “It is better to pay him in tranches. I agree with the government because if not, he will throw it away. This is valuable money that government could have used for millions of unemployed and wretchedly poor people.

“One man is getting it and he just wants it so that he can blow it all in five minutes? No, the government has a responsibility to see that his excitement does not end in seeing the money being thrown away irresponsibly. So, I agree with the government.”

PoliticsYour Job Isn’t To Complain About Pdp–buhari’s Ally, Lawal Blasts Customs CG, Ali by Ebisco01(op): 1:13pm On Nov 11, 2017
Former Deputy Director of Buhari Presidential Campaign Council, Mohammed Lawal, has criticised Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Hameed Ali over a recent controversial comment.

Hameed Ali had declared that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was derailing because half of appointees had their root in the PDP.

The Customs boss spoke at the official opening ceremony of Buhari Support Organisation’s (BSO) national headquarters in Abuja.

Reacting in an interview with Sun, Lawal advised Ali to face his work, make suggestions to the president rather than complaining about the opposition.

He said: ”Hameed Ali’s BSO meeting came earlier than the APC NEC meeting. But during the NEC meeting the president apologised for such (the comment). What is important is, there are people placed in positions, and the president has finished his own.

”For example, if the president made me the chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, it is now left for me to go and continue to do what I’m supposed to do to others to give back the goodwill the president gave to the people who are lower than me.

”There are people who are supposed to carry on with the mandate, by giving back to the electorate; giving back to the people, but they didn’t do that. They shouldn’t come and complain, blaming the president. The president cannot go and begin to give appointments at local governments, in ministries etc.

”Once he gives at a level like our own, NNPC as board member, I thank him so much for that, I didn’t expect it, but it is not for me to go and tell the president to put these people in NNPC refinery or any of the NNPC parastatals, it is me that should do that.

”I shouldn’t go and complain or blame the president for not doing that, I should do that. As far as NNPC is concerned I represent him there, and I should do what I’m supposed to do so that the goodwill will go back to the president.

”People shouldn’t be complaining, they know what to do and they have been given all the encouragement to do that. That notwithstanding, the president tendered his unreserved apology during the NEC meeting. He gave reason and that reason is tenable.

”Everybody knows that the economy is in a bad shape, and we are working to bring it back to life. Even the World Bank is giving thumb up on the management of the economy by the Buhari government. As it is picking up, the benefits will get to everybody.

”The key issue is, work for the president, and defend the programmes and policies and work towards actualizing the mandate. Like I said earlier, the president is not a magician or an angel, he can’t be 100 percent perfect. If mistakes are made, they shall be corrected.”

PoliticsAnambra Guber: Obaze Reveals What Will Happen To Obiano by Ebisco01(op): 10:26am On Nov 08, 2017
The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Oseloka Obaze, has said Governor Willie Obiano’s continued expenditure of the state’s resources on media hype and propaganda will not save him from the imminent loss on November 18.

Obaze said Obiano will be left out in the cold as the people will cast massive protest votes against him.

He insisted that the only thing capable of securing the incumbent another mandate in a state like Anambra is visible dividends of democracy, not hype.

Speaking to Oraezue non-natives, a group of non-indigenes resident in Nkpor, Idemmili North Local Government Area of the state, Obaze said Obiano’s reelection bid has continued to suffer immense deficits, despite the enormous resources expended on media and publicity, because his government performed poorly.

He expressed dismay that there are no projects on ground to justify the amount of money that accrued to the state both in savings, internally generated revenue, federal allocations, Local Government allocations, ecological funds, budget support, Paris Club refund and other accruals.

Giving a hint as to how he plans to govern the state, Obaze said his government, if elected, will dedicate 26% of the state’s budget to education as against the 3% it currently recieves. According to him, the increased funding of the education sector will allow the state offer free and qualitative education to students from kindergarten to JSS 3.

He also said the increased education funds will provide for qualified and properly remunerated teachers, teacher training and retraining, access to computer and Internet facilities, teaching and learning aids, appropriately sized classrooms, as well as well furnished laboratories.

Obaze said his government will prioritise development at the grassroots and pledged to conduct transparent Local Government elections within the first six months of his administration. This he said he will do, in addition to granting Local Government administrations full autonomy, because he believes that governance is best felt at the grassroots.

He chided the practice were hospitals require initial deposits, and sometimes police documents, before responding to emergencies.

Obaze assured that he will, as a governor, send an executive bill to the State House of Assembly to enact a law that will mandate hospitals to “respond to emergency situations first and ask questions later.” if elected. He promised to back up the law by floating a charity care fund that will ensure hospitals do not incur losses in the process.

Politics2018 Budget: Dogara Reveals Why Buhari’s Proposal May Suffer Delay by Ebisco01(op): 10:05pm On Nov 07, 2017
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara has revealed some of the challenges confronting the 2018 budget.

Speaking during the presentation of the 2018 budget proposals by President Muhammadu Buhari, Dogara stated that those challenges might result into delay in consideration and passage of the budget.

He revealed that the issues include inadequate consultations between the MDAS and various over- sight Committees of the National Assembly.

His full speech below.

Your Excellencies, my job at this ceremony is clearly defined and that is to deliver the vote of thanks. Therefore, permit me, on behalf of the National Assembly, to formally and specifically thank Mr. President, Commander in Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces, for competently and graciously fulfilling his constitutional obligation of presenting the estimates of receipts and expenditure proposed for the next financial year for the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the National Assembly.

I recognize that the Constitution in Section 5 vests the executive authority of the Federation in Mr. President but with an admonition to carry out this function in consultation with the Vice President and his cabinet. It is as a result that I must also thank the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, and all the Ministers, particularly, the Hon. Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma O. Udoma and the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.

Your Excellencies, permit me to single out the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the federation, Bar. Boss Mustapha who only yesterday, in an unprecedented move, visited the Leadership of both Houses of the National Assembly to canvass support for Government policies and to strengthen the often strained Executive – Legislative relations. Let me also extend our special thanks to all Heads of MDAS here present, Service Chiefs, leaders of political parties most especially Chief John Oyegun, Chairman of the ruling Party, APC, captains of industry, and distinguished elder statesmen and personalities that have all gathered here to witness this epoch making event.

It is important to note that if this ceremony is smooth and efficient, the credit must go to the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr. Ataba Sani-Omolori, and the entire bureaucracy of the National Assembly and all those that provided support services including the Media, Security agencies and other unseen hands. We thank you all.

To our colleagues, members of the Senate and House of Representatives, I salute your patriotism and sense of national purpose in providing the peaceful enabling environment for Mr. President to deliver his Budget Address. The success of this event separates us as true Leaders who in the midst of a hazy Executive – Legislative relationship elected not to turn on ourselves but to turn to each other in the very interest of our constituents and national progress. This is the way we must go as our Constitutional Order is organized in a way that deliberately denies any of the three Arms the strength to go at it alone on any national issue. Where that has happened, it’s progress that suffers. That reminds us of the adage that says, “If you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go together”. Examples abound on how fast but not far, the Executive have gone on some national issues where they have decided to go alone. There is no national challenge we cannot overcome if we work together.

I crave your indulgence to allow me congratulate Mr. President for honouring the provisions of the 2016 Appropriation Act which required the budget to last for 12 months in line with the provisions of S. 318 of the Constitution, from May 2016 when it was assented to, to May 2017. This enabled the Executive to report an accomplishment of over N5 Trillion expenditure out of the N7.4 Trillion budgeted for 2016, an unprecedented record by all standards, made possible only because the execution of the budget was allowed to last for 12 months. That is what the National Assembly has always called for inline with the original intent of the framers of our constitution.

Mr. President, as legislators, what agitates us is the prospects of totally abandoning the 2017 Budget and the dire consequences of doing so. The questions that must be answered include whether we have effectively enforced 2017 fiscal targets and whether managers have complied with the budget as authorized by the legislature. Our experience with the implementation of the 2016 Budget amply demonstrates that obeying our Appropriation Laws maximizes the release of our potentials while violating the Appropriation Laws caps the release of our national potentials. This means that we have to redouble our efforts in implementing the 2017 Budget, if we must retire it in January or at the very least roll over most of the projects in 2017 budget to 2018. No need to remind us that fiscal indiscipline is as grievous a problem as corruption which this Government is busy eliminating.

Once again, let me place it on record that the 2018 Budget preparations suffer from inadequate consultations between the MDAS and various over- sighting Committees of the National Assembly. Consequently, one can only hope and pray that it does not lead to delay in consideration and passage of the Budget.

May I also use this opportunity to congratulate Mr. President for leading Nigeria out of recession. Although recession has technically ended, most Nigerian families are still struggling. As a Government, we must do all within our powers to hasten their long night of panic and fear into a glorious morning. We must never allow this nation to slide into recession, not now, not ever again. We cannot therefore discountenance policy consistency and synergy between all stakeholders, if we must sustain economic growth and development, going forward. Mr. President, I urge that you take no prisoners in the implementation of your well crafted and thought-out Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, which you launched in January 2017.

May I conclude, Your Excellencies, Distinguished Colleagues, Ladies and Gentlemen, by once again, thanking everybody for the various roles played in making this joint Session a huge success. We look forward to a cooperative, consultative and inclusive consideration of the 2018 Budget proposals so ably presented by Mr. President.

PoliticsSaraki Reacts To Report Of Foreign Assets by Ebisco01(op): 8:58pm On Nov 06, 2017
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has reacted to reports that he has foreign assets.

This is contained in a statement by Yusuph Olaniyonu, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

It reads: @Once again, the issue of offshore company registration which was first raised in 2016 is being revived and thrown to the public space.

“As a responsible public officer, Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, will continue to explain his position. We know this is the period of politics when mudslinging is a common trick in the game.

“However, we will like to make it known that Dr. Saraki violated no law and did nothing illegal in the course of registering the company under reference, Tenia Limited, and afterwards.

“As we had earlier explained when the issue was first brought into public view, the company in question, Tenia Limited, was incorporated in 2001, long before Dr. Saraki ventured into politics and was elected into public office.

@The company from incorporation to date had never been used for any transaction. It held no asset. It had no bank account to the best of the knowledge of Dr. Saraki. Even if it did, the Senate President was not a signatory to such account. This is just a paper company and therefore could not have been used to hide any asset.

“The company, unlike the other ones investigated by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), had been a dormant entity from creation such that when in late 2015, its existence was raised with the Senate President, he could not readily recollect that there was such a company linked to him. He then immediately directed that the company be struck off.

“For the umpteenth time, we will reiterate the fact that the Senate President has fully complied with the law on assets declaration, even as it concerns the company under reference.

“We call on all members of the public to disregard the claims and insinuations suggesting that the company in question was incorporated to perpetrate any illegality or that its existence violates any law.”

PoliticsMisau Vs Idris: IGP Drags Senator To Court, Demands N5 Billion by Ebisco01(op): 9:06am On Nov 06, 2017
The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, has filed a libel suit against the Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Hamman Misau.

Idris is demanding N5 billion as compensation for alleged defamation.

The Federal Government, through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, had earlier preferred criminal charges against Misau.

The criminal case instituted by the AGF office and the civil case by the IGP himself are stemmed from allegations of corruption and unethical practices leveled by Misau against the IGP in the electronic and print media.

The civil case has been assigned to Justice Jude Okeke of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja while the criminal case is before the Chief Judge of the court, Justice Ishaq Bello.

Justice Okeke has fixed for November 13, 2017 for hearing in the case.

The IGP’s lawyer, Marcel Oru, in the suit prayed the court to award cumulative aggravated and exemplary damages of N5 billion to his client against the Senator.

PoliticsBuhari’s List Of Appointees Inaccurate [see List Of Omitted Names] by Ebisco01(op): 9:53pm On Nov 05, 2017
Indications have emerged showing that the ‘full list’ of all the appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari since he assumed office on May 29, 2015 as released by the Presidency is inaccurate.

The 159-member list contains several errors and omissions as no fewer than 29 names of heads of agencies or parastatals were missing on the list while data provided for another five were incorrect.

The presidency had been challenged by a publication by BusinessDay which indicated that 81 of Buhari’s appointments are either from the North-east, North-west or North Central.

In apparent response to that report as well as several similar ones, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, released the list of 159 appointees on Saturday.

Below are several omitted names and some wrongly described titles in a list some political observers in the country have described as “a desperate bid to cover Buhari’s lopsided appointments.”

1. FRCN, NTA DGs missing

The Director-General FRCN, Mansur Liman, who is from Mr. Buhari’s hometown of Daura is omitted from the list.

2. Yakubu Ibn Muhammed, from Bauchi State, who was appointed as the Director General of the NTA, missing from the list.

3. Ismael Ahmed SSA to the President on Social Investment Programmes, is also missing on the list. Mr. Ahmed is from Kano, North-west.

4. Other SAs, SSAs missing
Ibrahim Bapetel Hassan, SSA Policy Research and Monitoring from Adamawa State.

5. Tolu Ogunlesi, SA; Lauretta Onochie, PA; & Shaban Sharada, PA on Broadcast Media (Radio) are all missing on the presidency’s ‘full list.

6. Nasir Saidu Adhama, SA ; Abdulrahman Bappa Yola, SA ; and Bashir Ahmed, PA on New Media, all from Kano. All missing from the list.

7. Missing are; Joseph Ari, DG; Simbi Wabote, Executive Sec; Aboloma Anthony, DG;

8. Mamman Amadu, DG,; Ahmed Bobboi, Executive Sec, and Sa’adiya Faruq, Federal Commissioner.

9. Abubakar Bello, NEXIM, CEO missing
the new Managing Director of Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).

10. Heads of health agencies missing

11. Not mentioned in the Presidency list are Babatunde Salako, the DG; & Chikwe Ihekweazu, the coordinator of NCDC appointed in August 2016.

12. Also omitted are: Echezona Ezeanolue the Executive Director, Usman Yusuf, the DG; and Sani Aliyu, DG.

13. MD, FERMA, Nurudeen Rafindadi from Katsina; Chairman, Board of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Abdullahi Attah;

14. Apart from the missing names, however, some of those listed were wrongly described.
Babandede not from NC.

The presidency list claimed that the Comptroller-General of NIS, is from the NC, wrong. The Immigration boss hails from Jigawa.

15. Roli Bode George not NDLEA Chairman
The presidency list identified the wife of PDP chieftain, Bode George, Roli as the CEO of NDLEA.

In Nov 2015, she was appointed acting chairman of the agency, a position she occupied for 54 days.

Muhammad Abdullah, a native of Adamawa State, was appointed as substantive chairman on January 19, 2016.

The presidency list claimed that the Comptroller-General of NIS, is from the NC, wrong. The Immigration boss hails from Jigawa.

PoliticsBiafra: President Buhari Hates Igbos Deeply – Amaechi by Ebisco01(op): 9:52am On Nov 05, 2017
A First Republic Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amaechi has faulted the manner with which President Muhammadu Buhari handled Nnamdi Kanu and his Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, secessionist group.

The 88-year-old and the only surviving member of the pre-independence Zikist Movement spoke with Punch.

He said President Buhari handled the Nnamdi Kanu’s issue with his deep hatred for Igbo people, insisting that the President has personal hatred for Igbos.

He said, “That was why he took over the government in 1983. That hatred for Ndigbo has not been aborted.

“Nnamdi Kanu was erratic in many respects but that wasn’t the best way to handle him. The young man was making his demands.

“He has followers and why not listen to him and enter into a dialogue with him. What crime has Nnamdi Kanu committed to be compared with the crimes of his (Buhari) own brothers, the Fulanis, in Nigeria today?

“During the tenures of former presidents – Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan , and Musa Yar ’adua – did you ever hear of Fulani herdsmen killing people?

“No! It is only in the Buhari era that they kill people. Nobody is being arrested and nobody is questioning them.

“This was what happened in Jos. They (herdsmen) would just invade a community at night with sophisticated weapons and wipe out women and children.

“Today, they will go to Kanu’s place, knock down the wall, loot the king’s palace, kill young men and carry away their dead bodies.

“Kanu and his organisation were never violent . If one group says something in Delta State, he would send people to negotiate and dialogue with them.

“But in Igboland, if anybody says something for good, he must be killed. Only God will fight for us.”

PoliticsOkorocha Set To Spend N850m On Christmas Tree – Group Alleges by Ebisco01(op): 5:53am On Nov 05, 2017
A socio-political group, G42 Imo Liberation Forum, has warned the Okorocha government to desist from “waste of tax payers’ money”.

The group said it received information that the administration is set to spend N850m on erecting a tree ahead of Christmas celebration.

Okorocha was recently criticised by Nigerians for erecting a statue of South Africa president Jacob Zuma, in Owerri.

In a statement on Saturday by G42 Director of Communications, Dr. Walter Duru, the forum described the alleged plan as misplaced priority and a sign of government’s insensitivity.

It read: “The attention of G-42 Imo Liberation Forum has been drawn to an alleged plan by the Imo State Government under the leadership of Chief Rochas Okorocha to spend about Eight Hundred and Fifty Million Naira on a meaningless tree ahead of the 2017 Christmas celebration.”

“This is coming at a time Civil Servants and Pensioners in the state are being owed several months arrears of salary and other entitlements; while poverty is at its highest level in the history of the state.

“The situation is made worst by the fact that the dust raised by the over Five Hundred Million Naira allegedly spent in the building of a Statue for the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma is yet to settle.

“We refuse to treat this as mere speculation as history has shown that this is not far from the style of the present administration in the state; a government that is not accountable to anyone and is run in utmost secrecy.

“The government must tell Imo people how much it actually spent on erecting the ridiculous Jacob Zuma Statue and others there-in, as well as the said Christmas tree.

“The G-42 Imo Liberation Forum, a Socio-political group in the state sees this as the highest level of insensitivity, misplaced priority and share waste of the people’s resources and hereby condemn it.”

“The present APC-led government must realize that it is holding the people’s resources on thrust and therefore accountable to the people. This administration has treated Imo people with so much disrespect and disdain that we can no longer fold our arms to allow this anomaly to continue.”

“We therefore call on the state government to discontinue the wanton waste of the peoples’ resources and invest in areas that are beneficial to majority of the citizens.”

PoliticsAnambra Guber: Ifeanyi Ubah Dumps PDP For APGA, Gives Reasons by Ebisco01(op): 3:33pm On Nov 04, 2017
Oil magnate and Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Dr. Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah has formally dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

Ubah also declared his support for Governor of Anambra state and candidate of APGA in the November 18 governorship election, Willie Obiano.

Recall that the National Working committee of the PDP had in September suspended Ubah for anti-party activities.

Ubah, in a statement issued on Saturday, explained that his decision to join APGA was due to the “unfair and callous treatment meted out on me.”

Full text below…

“To my steadfast supporters and umu nnem,

Today marks a turning point in my political life as I take a giant leap into that which will spur the advancement of my dream for an ideal and prosperous Anambra State. It has been a bumpy ride considering where I started from, the rough roads I have been through and challenges I have faced in search for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Having done so much politically over the years by virtue of my avid belief in adding value to the people of Anambra State and in appreciation to God for his mercies on my life bearing in mind my modest background being the Son of a Teacher, it has become imperative to take stock of my contributions, assess my strengths/weaknesses and take advantage of the opportunities available to me which would be in tandem with my drive to further the course of the Ndi Igbo.

As part of my vision and passion to advance the cause of my people, I have spent the last 5 years of my life making concerted efforts through human capital development and the rechanneling of my investments in oil and gas, media, sports, construction amongst others to my home state in a bid to empower the youths and contribute my quota to building a robust state economy.

During this period, I have had laughs and good times with my people while also suffering betrayals and deceit from friends and allies alike. Be that as it may, there is a limit to what I can achieve in my private capacity as it is my staunch belief that the number of lives one can touch while occupying the seat of power far outweighs the number that can be touched in one’s private capacity.

I have been immensely blessed by God and as such, I do not consider politics as beneficial except that it provides me with the channel to which I can achieve my ultimate aim of sincere service to Ndi Anambra.

Incidentally and regrettably, despite several efforts to expand the horizon of lives one can touch using the seat of power, I have not been lucky enough to achieve my goal. Bearing in mind the number of politicians that have ended up worse off having encountered not even up to half of what I have suffered in politics, I will continue to thank God immensely for affording me the wherewithal to continually put food on my table as well as that of others.

I strongly believe that the route I have journeyed through up until now was ordained by God to avail me the requisite experience which as we all know, is the best teacher. My next steps are hinged on His divine direction and I am happy and contented to follow as he leads.

I will continue to champion people-oriented programmes and the cause of Ndi Igbo with the fullest assurance that God will answer our prayers soon.

For those who believe I should quit politics in my best interest owing to all that I have suffered in the hands of politicians, I must say thank you for your care and kind advice. I have taken note of your sincere counsel. However, I believe that the end will justify the means as I am bold, strong, courageous and determined to take Anambra State to the next level.

Unfortunately, having spent most of my political life working assiduously for the PDP and in consideration of the unfair and callous treatment meted out on me despite my several pleas to the party hierarchy, I have decided to call it a day with the PDP.

The political backstabbing has left a sour taste in my mouth and I have come to the conclusion that my service to the PDP is the price I have to pay if I am to succeed in my quest to serve my people. At this juncture, I have left the battle for the Lord.

In view of the above, I wish to state unequivocally that I have taken a position to fight for the sustenance and continued relevance of my state and the Igbo tribe. I am a very strong and proud Igbo man who is passionate about the protection of the Igbo name and the pride attached to it. I have dedicated myself to ensure that “Afa Igbo ama efu”.

Being an indigene of Nnewi, home to notable Nigerians like General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (Ikemba Nnewi), HRH Prince Nwafor Orizu, Dr. Chuchu Okongwu, Chief Cletus Ibeto, Dr. Ikem Okeke, HRH Igwe Kenneth Orizu amongst a host of others and one of the biggest industrial cities in Nigeria, I have taken a position to champion the cause of the Igbo race by striving to ensure the growth and sustenance of the only party bequeathed to us by the Great Ikemba Nnewi, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). I have decided to join the struggle to ensure that our legacy lives on as we must uphold the identity of the Igbos as handed down to us by Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu.

While APGA might be seen as a regional party, there is no doubt in my mind that we can make it a force to reckon with nationally in the mould of Alliance for Democracy (AD) that metamorphosed into Action Congress (AC), then later transformed to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now the All Progressives Congress (APC) which currently leads at the centre.

Based on this and my conscience, in truth, before God and man, I have made up my mind and resolved to join and support the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). My political journey which started from APGA has taken me to two other political parties, Labour Party and then PDP. I am extremely glad to be back to where I belong. Nke a bu nke anyi! I want to assure party faithfuls that I have returned to add immense value to the party and grow the party with the experience I have gathered over the years in politics.

To mark my new political sojourn, I will be committing myself to APGA during this election and subsequent elections by organising a rally tagged AFA IGBO EFUNA which would underscore my entrance into the party.

This rally is scheduled to take place on the 13th of November 2017 at the Ifeanyi Ubah Games Village, Ozubulu/Nnewi. Furthermore, I will commence the sensitization of my friends, foes, allies and all Anambrarians from Sunday, 5th of November, 2017 by 8PM through Authority 91.9FM radio and live stream youtube channel on the factors that informed my resolution and the need for Ndi Anambra, especially those from Anambra South to key into the vision and support APGA. This process will last throughout the campaign period as allowed by INEC.

I wish to thank all my supporters who have stood by me patiently and persistently throughout my political travails. Your prayers and perseverance are the reasons we are where we are today. To those who feel aggrieved and disappointed as a result of my choice, I wish to tender an unreserved apology to you all as I reassure you that my decision is a product of a well-thought-out assessment of the political landscape as well as fervent prayers.

May I also use this medium to specifically express my sincere gratitude to my precious wife and lovely children for their ceaseless prayers, support and encouragement so far irrespective of the trials and tribulations. You all have been an endless source of strength and inspiration. I love you all.

To my spiritual fathers, elders and true friends who have also been praying for me while rendering their informed advice, I am very thankful for everything you have done for me. May God reward you all in his infinite mercies.

For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to state that while I would gladly render my sincere advice to the party on the line it should tow nationally, I will be lending my full support to whichever party they deem fit nationally in a bid to achieve equity in the event that my party declines to produce a candidate for national elections.

This election is not a do or die affair and as such, I wish to call on the Federal Government, State Government, INEC, relevant security agencies, political parties and my fellow Anambrarians to join hands in ensuring that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner, devoid of violence and rancour.

APGA bu nke anyi. Afa Igbo ama efu na-aka anyi!”

PoliticsHow Buhari Rejected Motion To Endorse Him For Second Term At APC NEC –presidency by Ebisco01(op): 7:04am On Nov 04, 2017
Femi Adesina, media adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari has claimed that his principal personally rejected the motion to endorse him for 2019 during the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is contained in an article he release on Friday titled, ‘PMB: Just like the mills of the gods’.

Adesina lamented how the media made it look as though Buhari was embarrassed at the meeting.

He insisted that it was Buhari himself who signalled to those in attendance that the meeting should not talk about his 2019 ambition.

Adesina wrote: “I was there (APC NEC meeting). The atmosphere was friendly, almost convivial. At a point, someone moved a motion of confidence in the Buhari administration.

“The seconder, a former state governor, added to the motion, seeking an endorsement of the President as candidate for second term in 2019. As he raised the motion, I saw the President gesturing, with his two palms downwards.

“The gesture meant, please, cool down, not now. This is premature. And the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, weighed in, accepting the motion of confidence, and deferring the one on automatic candidacy. Everyone was satisfied.

“You can imagine my consternation the next day, when I saw the newspaper headlines. It was as if some of them were reporting a meeting held in outer space.

“They said a bid by governors to get automatic ticket for the President had failed. One newspaper exulted: “Govs’ bid to get automatic 2019 ticket for Buhari fails.’ Pure fiction. Concocted story. It never happened the way the newspaper had conjured.

“And it was the President himself who had dissuaded those who made the move, by his gesture. Hate news seems to have crept into the polity, and otherwise credible newspapers have eaten the forbidden apple.

“Under President Buhari, for Nigeria, the storm will pass (and is, indeed, passing), and the spring will come. The mills of the gods grind slowly, but exceedingly finely. I believe. What about you?”

PoliticsMaina: PDP Finally Reacts, Blasts Buhari by Ebisco01(op): 8:47am On Oct 24, 2017
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the controversy trailing the reinstatement and sacking of controversial Abdulrasheed Maina by the Federal Government.

It said the action was a confirmation of the classic novel by a British author, Jeffery Archer titled “Honour among thieves”, where he postulated that criminals do not compromise the actions of other criminals”.

A statement by the party’s Spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, in Abuja on Monday, said Nigerians had expected Maina to be arrested instead of being reinstated.

He said, “It is in the light of this that the PDP wishes to state that we are not too shocked at the steps taken by the administration of the All Progressives Congress in reinstating a supposed criminal and fugitive, Abdulrasheed Maina to office instead of getting him arrested

“Birds of a feather flock together. All people of good conscience will not forget in a hurry that Maina, who was given an assignment by the last administration of the PDP to superintend the now defunct Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, dipped his hands into the jar and helped himself to N100 billion of what he was supposed to safeguard.

“With good conscience at fighting corruption, the PDP government then mandated the anti-corruption agencies to perform their constitutional duty. Maina fled, only to resurface in the http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2017/10/maina-pdp-finally-reacts-blasts-buhari.html
