Won't a new Anioma state that is part of the SE result in the SE having territories on both sides of River Niger.

In the event of the region becoming an independent country, the new country will control both sides of that stretch of the river.

From a strategic economic and military consideration, I don't think Nigeria will allow an Anioma state to be part of the South East.


Besides, Northerners are unlikely to vote for an additional state for the SE. Their argument is that as the geographical area of the region is quite small, there is no justification for an additional state.

You people just talk from your bunbums most of the time! If state creation is by geographical size alone......Then Lagos should not be a state and Kano or Niger state should be a country of its own...........your logic is nonsensical!

This demand for Anioma State was there in 2006 when the Ohaneze you now call on adopted Njaba as the proposed 6th state for the SE. The Ohaneze knows that commensurate political representation of people from the SE zone is main driver for a 6th state in the SE zone. Proposed Njaba state in 2006 is the same thing as the now proposed Orlu state.

In 1967 Yakubu Gowon abolished the 4 Region's Nigeria had and created 12 states to replace them. In retaliation, Ojukwu declared Biafra.
It was not until the war ended that the states Gowon created became fully operational.

I have no doubt that those who fought war to remove Regionalism will fight again to see it never comes back.

State police is an easier low hanging fruit to pick than a revert to regionalism, in fact it may be more impactful on the long run than the regionalism thing sef!

In the last two decades the Nigeria military has been fighting internal wars on several fronts. The battle against kidnappings, banditry and militia groups got messier in the last few years.

The recent killings of our soldiers in Aba few days ago when the terrorists declared a sit-at-home to celebrate their Biafra Day or whatever was avoidable.

Prior to that day, the IPOB had warned students sitting for the ongoing WAEC exams to remain in their houses and the schools shut. They also sent a warning to a university VC. They were trying to avoid a bloodbath.

I had expected our military to immediately respond to this threat in a show of force with battalion of soldiers and armoured tanks parading all the streets in the south East. I had expected to see the Tucano fighter jets in combat ready mode to forestall any breakdown of law and order. I remember President Olusegun Obasanjo.

These IPOB miscreants enjoy the support of the locals who cheers them whenever they go rampaging on the street on a killing spree. These evil people do not reneg on their threats or warnings to perpetrate evil. Besides, this is not the first time they have been killing our soldiers. The rate at which these terrorists kill our soldiers in the south east should have put our military on red alert that there will be a confrontation. Our military has been demystified by these IPOB because they have been killing our soldiers without any collateral damage. If the Odi treatment had been applied this nonsense would have stopped.
In my own opinion as a civilian without any military training, it's high the military prioritize the safety of their personnel in any operations. Killers of our soldiers must not go unpunished. There must be consequences for such actions that will send a strong warning to the perpetrators that their action will invite unparalleled retaliation to their community. Killing our soldiers in an unprovoked manner like must stop.
May the souls of our departed gallant soldiers rest in peace.

Same army that has been using IPOB members for target practice for over 20 years......I condemn every killing but Nigeria has to learn to solve issues before they become festering sores........only a complete fool will think IPOB does not have significant support in Souteast.........like play we may find ourselves in a serious civil conflict!
