Christianity EtcRe: Is It A Sin To Bet? by Ebychi(f): 10:19am On Mar 22, 2015
eleojo23:
Some things are not spelt out as sin in the Bible but from the effect those things have on your life spiritually or physically, you can know whether it would be pleasing to God or not.
It looks harmless and even enticing to go into betting (which is a form of gambling), but the problem is that you get addicted to it with time and it can take the place of God in your life because it will become your top priority.

Here is a case posted on this forum by someone last year. He says:
"My friend is very addicted to football betting. He spends most of his income on sports betting and he does not win. He is so addicted to it that he can spend his last penny on it. Many times he has confided in me that he will stop it but he still goes on to try it again and lose all his money. He is always broke and does not feed well. The sports betting is destroying his life. He wishes to stop and cut his losses. But he does not know how to overcome the urge. His family and loved ones don't know he is passing through it. How can I help him stop the sports betting because it's ruining his life."

From this story, you can ask yourself: Would God be pleased with this kind of life? Would He want you to waste your resources/money like that? Would it bring glory to His name? The answer to these questions is in the negative.

Therefore, as someone who wants to have a pleasing life before God, you should not go into it. Don't say 'I will do it just once" because that once will lead to another one until you are deep in it and your case will become like that of the man in the example above who I'm sure also started with the mind that he will do it just a few times.

NB: I'm specifically answering the OP's question on betting. The title on the front page has made the topic broader by using the word gambling.
. you just nailed it. This betting of a thing is seriously eating deep into the lives of many young guys and very soon they will start to develop BP. As for the OP,don't start.

After so many attempts to find true love, i can conclude that ladies in this part of the world are thieves. i have been scammed, used and dumped by series of girl pretending they love me. They see relationship as a JOB and expect to get paid. I have been brutally scammed before i realized. Now I'm looking for a lady from Ghana or South Africa. Any non-Nigerian lady in the house? your attention is needed. undecided

That Chioma that has a very poor dress sense.".....I was not surprised when she didn't disappoint me with her poor dress sense again. What makes it worse? I'm a guy & yet I notice how terrible her dress sense is.
