With my own little knowledge, i think the death certificate from same NPC should suffice since it will show the name of your late uncle and possibly his parents. You could then put detail in your LOE (letter of explanation). Add any other thing that can prove the relationship. My opinion, goodluck.
Thanks walexlo78. The death certificate only shows his name and date of death. Putting up my letter and will attach all relevant pictures plus documents to buttress this claim. Fingers crossed!

Hello, well this may seem a bit off the topic but does anyone

1. Have experience on how to provide a proof of relationship to a canadian sponsor (my direct cousin) when the sponsors father (my uncle) is late?

2. Regarding the circumstance in 1, NPC is unable to provide an attestation for a Nigerian who is late. All that was made available is the NPC death certificate.

3. Does anyone know where in the birth and death compulsory registration act this situation is treated?

Appreciate your kind feedback

Aduke02:
You can prove your relationship first by using your birth certificates. Do you bear the same last name with your sponsor? Normally, your birth certificate should indicate your parents' names. So your next step is to establish the relationship between you two. You can draw up your family tree indicating you and your cousin n attach a letter of explanation to it. I don't think you need your uncles death certificate at all.
Thanks Aduke02. Yes i did draw up a family tree and can write up a little narration to follow it. I'm just concerned because the application was returned requesting for an NPC attestation of birth for both our fathers (yes i and my cousin bear same surname) showing their parents. NPC is unable to provide this because my uncle is late. So now a re-application has to come with a document proving this tie. Do you know anyone in the same circumstance that pulled through it?

Thanks again for the advice.

Thanks to everyone who added their bit to the thread. Every bit of it has been very informative and useful to me. However, I need some detailed info from Miri7b5N. I sent you an E-Mail message and would appreciate your response. It pertains to Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso. Thanks again!
