this life has been complicated because people live their lives and that of others. Dude should be proud of himself for figuring out his problem and finding a way out of it and not hide the fact and let it eat him up. Some men will go out keeping girlfriends and that costs more money so it's better to bring them home and carry the cross from home. In the event he gets tired of the second let him marry the third and so on. Experience they say is the best teacher so he will realize why people marry just one wife and some not marrying at all.

All you can do is to find a way to soften it. Break the news to her in pieces.

Don't go straight and tell her that, you have found a second wife and you want to marry her. First tell her something in the line of...."I don't know what is wrong with me these days, I keep thinking of get a second wife to increase the wife, provide companion for you....." throw any none sense in there on how she might benefit. Better you say this after taking her for a romantic dinner or buying her that one in lifetime gift. Show her you still love her and that, she is not the reason you are doing this.

Allow that to sink for one or two weeks before moving to the next stage about "you finding a second wife".

Allow that stage to sink in, then move to the stage of "I have found someone and I think you are going to like her".

If all these are too much, just cut the crap and tell her straight and deal with the repercussions in once.

Lol, basically bid'ah is something done as an act of worship which was not prescribed by the prophet. For instance if you stand under the sun, we will ask you to leave the sun that its dangerous for your health, if you don't listen fine, but if you have the intention that standing under that sun is an act of worship, then we will ask you for your proof, if you cant provide a valid proof, then its bid'ah.
