lilsmart: You speak of "common sense" and "educated wisdom" as if they appeared from the sky, fully formed. You stand on this ground and call it your own, but you forget who tilled the soil.
what is the foundation of this development if not the very history you seem to dismiss as "human wickedness"?
The wisdom you seek to use was developed by other people. So what Wisdom have you developed for the coming generation that they can seek? Instead, you rather sit down and wait for other people to build the world for you, then you simply move in and call it "common sense"
Your "common sense" is the harvested fruit from a tree you did not plant.
note. every point of technological development was all from history. Newton's law, all the other laws that guide our very understanding of the universe, were written by old people who dared to observe, innovate, and build upon the questions of those who came before them. They tapped from their roots to deliver a new truth. Any day you see a woman accept fault or accountability, check the birth certificate, e fit be man. What is stopping the girl from taking back everything she bought for the boyfriend during relationship? Aunty dey quote chatgpt for us. |

See the audacity of these boys! They literally showed up in broad daylight to rob this woman's house, and expect us to believe they were doing some sort of good service. That woman should use this as evidence to have all of them charged and arrested, abeg. The girl should take back the things she bought for him during the relationship. jrobbins: All my kids are not in Nigeria but still, the discipline is there because their initial upbringing was here In Nigeria. My children will never look at their teacher's face not to even talk of pushing them. You guys can continue breeding cultists, shooters and psychopaths thinking you're woke.
After their school, my children are coming back to Nigeria to manage some things as that's the legacy I had too. My wife will remain there to manage some things there too.
Continue thinking the way you do, but in Africa, the community trains the child. ..if not for wokeness, we know nothing like depression here. No need to pretend In the school your children are attending today, do their teachers beat/slap the kids when they misbehave? ASK YOUR CHILDREN IF THEIR TEACHERS BEAT THEM OR THEIR FRIENDS IN SCHOOL WHEN THEY MISBEHAVE. I know the answer you will get so let me continue. Will you now say the teachers in your children's school are breeding cultists, shooters and psychopaths? I don't blame you. As no be Nigerian school dey pamper your children, you will call it good training, best of the best, but if a Nigerian teacher does not beat up other people's children to your satisfaction, you will say they are breeding cultists, shooters and psychopaths. One more thing, your children will not come back to manage any legacy. They will sell it off after you are gone. Seen this happen so many times and you are not special. |

Not parental love but violent instinct can drive a couple "both husband and wife" to jointly abuse a teacher who dared to help them train their "untrained" child. Chai if na me dead body go surplus I swear. so you are in support of the teacher slapping the child? Is physical violence the only way to teach? if you wanted your child to be beaten up, why not send your child to a boxing ring for training? Is the teacher a gladiator? Are there no superiors the teacher can report the child to? jrobbins: Definitely written by a poor lawyer too. These parents are just breeding future nuisance to the world. HacheNoire: Your rhetoric is wack!
A police man has every legal right to shoot at you if you approach with violence, so what are you saying?
If the teacher was a police man, he would have been justified to shoot the child. well done toboizilla: You never thought before, so you wont understand. I dont know the principles of the school, If the school allowed me as a teacher to discipline the child, I certainly will else i will report to the school disciplinary team.
Would you take your child to a school where there is no discipline ? I have taught in the past so I know what it's like to deal with difficult kids in school. If you give me an example of a school without discipline, then i can give you a more definite answer. HacheNoire: Your rhetoric is wack!
A police man has every legal right to shoot at you if you approach with violence, so what are you saying?
If the teacher was a police man, he would have been justified to shoot the child. not surprised. the typical Nigerian has no regard for human life so it is perfectly ok to say you will support a police officer who shoots someone that is violent. |

nedekid: Also slapping the child is assault. Most private schools have their policies for disciplining students. It will be foolhardy for any teacher to slap a child. Oga the day my daughter was slapped in school, I personally landed 2 punches on him the following day. Imagine a child that has never experience slap from home by choice of the parents then having to get it from some teacher at school, a private school for that matter. As a teacher if you have issues with a student, report to the management to handle the discipline aspect. You own is to teach. A student in a school I am associated with hit his head while paying with his mates. The parents were informed that the child will be taken to the hospital just to check as there was little swelling. Doctor directed the child should be taken for CT scan just as a precaution. The school took the child for CT scan, Omo in the scan there was a growth in the boys head! The doctor said it cannot be from the fall, that it has been there for a while. Luckily when the parents came they confirmed that they already knew their child had a growth in his skull and were making long term arrangements to fly him abroad for surgery. Now imagine a child like that the parents are managing, saving money to get him proper care, one teacher than hits the child in the head claiming punishment. What if the child slumps? Don't mind these animals on nairaland supporting the teacher who slapped the student. It is like supporting a police officer who shot at someone over a disagreement. |

toboizilla: Person wey don push you for chest twice, do you think he hasn't already disobeyed a previous order that was given to him ? secondly, if you have to continue going to the principal for every case, doesn't it mean you are incompetent ?
I have been a teacher before, training children is not easy, sometimes you will loose your temper So to prove your competence, you will strike a child? Are you a gladiator or a teacher? Yes, training children is a hard job, but strike them is not acceptable. You probably grew up in an era where hitting children was seen as normal and a way to prove you were a competent teacher. Times have changed. Report the erring child to the school authorities. They will have means of dealing with insubordination. |

themanderon: Those illiterate and irresponsible parents should be put behind bars with that monster they are raising as a child. I get angry when I see stupid parents going to confront teachers for disciplining their child. If you don't want you child disciplined keep him at home and raise him how you want. We we punished and even flogged whenever we acted up during our time. We never even informed our parents because most of the time we may be in the wrong and if you tell them and they come to school your punishment will increase as they will add to the Flogging by the teachers. Unfortunately, the kind of parents we have these days are just mollying their kids pampering them for every wrong doing. In our time whenever a student is suspended you will find it hard to get a new school because the school wants to know the reason for the transfer but today if a child is suspended the parents simply find a new school. As a result private schools just accept anything without asking questions. That's why we a breeding a generation of mindless, morally bankrupt and godless youths. It's sad. I am only against teachers injuring the child while disciplining the child. Everything should be in moderation. so the teacher had no other means to discipline the student than to slap the child? I support the parent slapping the hell out of the teacher. this nonsense physical abuse must stop. If the teacher is a champion of slapping people that disrespect him in his own house, they should leave that behaviour at the gate when the step into the school. |

pdppower: An alleged incident at *Starville School in Jahi, Abuja🙆🏼♂️*
.A teacher claimed he slapped a student for reportedly pushing him twice. Later, during a meeting with the principal and the parents, the situation escalated when the parents began slapp!ng the teacher back too 😭💔.
Video cannot be uploaded because it is heavy.
Peoples Comments :
• That's what poverty has reduced the teaching profession to.
*The uncouth and untrained child becomes more arrogant in class; at the effrontery of rudely pushing the teacher again in the nearest future.*
• So terribly pathetic and the ministry of education will see this and will not doing anything about it
What are your views ?? why should the teacher slap the student? Are there no other ways to discipline a student without resorting to physical contact? This barbaric way of hitting children is unacceptable in 2025. If you like hitting children ( or any other person you fell disrespected you), then you need to live in a bush. |
