I have taught in the past so I know what it's like to deal with difficult kids in school. If you give me an example of a school without discipline, then i can give you a more definite answer.

Oga the day my daughter was slapped in school, I personally landed 2 punches on him the following day. Imagine a child that has never experience slap from home by choice of the parents then having to get it from some teacher at school, a private school for that matter.
As a teacher if you have issues with a student, report to the management to handle the discipline aspect. You own is to teach.
A student in a school I am associated with hit his head while paying with his mates. The parents were informed that the child will be taken to the hospital just to check as there was little swelling. Doctor directed the child should be taken for CT scan just as a precaution. The school took the child for CT scan, Omo in the scan there was a growth in the boys head! The doctor said it cannot be from the fall, that it has been there for a while. Luckily when the parents came they confirmed that they already knew their child had a growth in his skull and were making long term arrangements to fly him abroad for surgery.
Now imagine a child like that the parents are managing, saving money to get him proper care, one teacher than hits the child in the head claiming punishment. What if the child slumps?

Don't mind these animals on nairaland supporting the teacher who slapped the student. It is like supporting a police officer who shot at someone over a disagreement.

Yes, training children is a hard job, but strike them is not acceptable. You probably grew up in an era where hitting children was seen as normal and a way to prove you were a competent teacher. Times have changed.

Report the erring child to the school authorities. They will have means of dealing with insubordination.

If you don't want you child disciplined keep him at home and raise him how you want.
We we punished and even flogged whenever we acted up during our time. We never even informed our parents because most of the time we may be in the wrong and if you tell them and they come to school your punishment will increase as they will add to the Flogging by the teachers.
Unfortunately, the kind of parents we have these days are just mollying their kids pampering them for every wrong doing.
In our time whenever a student is suspended you will find it hard to get a new school because the school wants to know the reason for the transfer but today if a child is suspended the parents simply find a new school. As a result private schools just accept anything without asking questions.
That's why we a breeding a generation of mindless, morally bankrupt and godless youths. It's sad.
I am only against teachers injuring the child while disciplining the child. Everything should be in moderation.
