Since the coming on board of Donald Trump as the United States President, America’s immigration policy has been undergoing review. Against the backdrop of concerns over the U.S. reviewed immigration policies, U.S. based immigration attorney, Chioma Azi is set to organise a one day informational seminar tagged: "US Immigration Policy Under Trump." The epoch-making seminar is billed for Saturday, December 16, 2017, by 2.00pm at Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. According to Azi, the seminar will focus on critical information on how to visit and study in America, including an update on Trump's administration's immigration policies and its impact. Meanwhile, other side attractions for the event include a 30 minutes free consultation with the United States immigration attorney. According to Azi, "Nigerians are some of the most well-travelled people on the planet. The Edo State Government has officially kicked off the “Talk to Governor Godwin Obaseki (Talk to GGO) program. As one of the most discussed recommendations from the recently concluded Edo State Investment Summit (Alaghodaro 2017), the government has opened direct communication lines between itself and its residents. To this end, the Talk to Governor Godwin Obaseki (TalkToGGO) initiative has employed and trained over 450 people who will collate information from Edo State residents and pass same directly to the Governor. Feedback from the Talk To GGO program as well as recommendations from the Alaghodaro 2017 summit triggered the recently commenced Agriculture Empowerment Initiative, the revamping of the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, as well as the $150 Billion Shobe Farm project, which is expected to create more than 85,000 jobs. Speaking to reporters, the Honourable. Commissioner for Information - Rt. Hon. Paul Ohombamu, noted that the state government is attentive to the needs of its people, and has urged the general public to “speak up and let the Governor know what they are thinking”. He also urged the general public to actively participate in the project, adding that they can participate in whatever way they feel comfortable either by speaking to the Talk to GGO representatives or through the www.talktoggo.com website. The project has kicked off in Oredo, Ikphobha Okha, and Egor Local Government Areas, and the “Talk to GGO” representatives are collating data relating to the state of social and economic infrastructure across the state, number of households and their needs as well as educational and health needs of residents and stakeholder of the state.

In a bid to actualize the outcomes from its just concluded Economic Summit tagged “Alaghodaro 2017”, the Edo State government has established a direct communications platform that will assist the government connect with the people and update government records on the socio-economic and infrastructure needs of the state. This initiative tagged “Talk to Governor Godwin Obaseki” or “Talk to GGO” in short form, is the first step in enhancing the infrastructure databank of the state. Residents, citizens and stakeholders are being given the opportunity to help the government prioritize for next year by providing information on the gaps that currently exist in Edo state. More than 450 young people have been recruited, trained and equipped to visit every street across the state to collect information and report on such issues as the condition of the roads, drainage problems, the state of health and educational facilities, as well as areas that require critical government intervention. According to the states Commissioner for information Rt. Honourable Paul Ohombamu “we are planning big for residents and stakeholders of the state and to enable us plan effectively, we need true information on problems that exist in each community within the state. This information will help the government formulate and create lasting solutions to these problems within the next few budget cycles.” He noted that the exercise commenced in Oredo LGA late in November and will be replicated in every single Local Government area and community across the state. “This way, we are able to assess where the priorities are and involve the citizens in our decision making processes”, he concluded.
