kaydee007: **A Very Sad Tale and Commentary on Our Present Reality 🤦🏽♂🤦🏽♂🤦🏽♂**
"Many Nigerian families will never be together again. Not because they don’t want to be, but because they simply can never be together again.
In a world that seems to have become increasingly interconnected, the reality for many Nigerian families tells a different story. The firstborn has found a new life in Canada, pursuing opportunities that were unattainable at home. The second sibling has established roots in Dubai, where the vibrant cityscape promises a future filled with potential. The third sibling is thousands of miles away in Australia, drawn by the allure of stability and security. The fourth sibling has made a home in New York, embracing the hustle of a city that never sleeps. Meanwhile, the youngest is navigating life in the UK, carving out their own path amidst the cultural richness.
Back in Nigeria, their parents are left with memories of a once-unified family, now scattered across continents. They manage to visit occasionally, but these trips are never enough to bridge the emotional distance. Each reunion is bittersweet, filled with laughter and nostalgia, yet tinged with the painful reality of separation.
As they all embark on their individual journeys, they are also starting families of their own. Children are being born into this diaspora—children who will never truly know their cousins, aunts, or uncles. The connections that once seemed strong are now weakened by distance. Video calls, once a lifeline, have become sporadic and often inconvenient, overshadowed by the complexity of global time zones. What could have been regular family gatherings are reduced to rare moments of virtual connection, lacking the warmth of physical presence.
The reasons for this fragmentation are deeply rooted in a systemic failure. Many have felt compelled to leave Nigeria due to a lack of opportunities, safety, and a stable future. The heartbreaking truth is that Nigeria, in many ways, has failed its people, driving them to seek refuge in other countries where they can provide a better life for their children—one free from the struggles and hardships they themselves endured.
This is the high price of 'japa'—the term that has come to symbolize the exodus of Nigerians in search of greener pastures. It’s a phenomenon that carries a weight that cannot be quantified financially. It’s the silent devastation of families, the tearing apart of siblings who once shared dreams and experiences.
The negligence and incompetence of a government that has long abandoned its citizens is the underlying cause of this tragedy. For over a decade, the impact of poor leadership has reverberated through countless homes, eroding the very fabric of family life. This is the hidden cost of migration—a cost that, unfortunately, many are forced to bear in silence.
As we reflect on this reality, it’s crucial to acknowledge the emotional toll it takes on families. We must confront the truth that behind every story of migration is a tale of loss, resilience, and the search for belonging. The consequences of these decisions will ripple through generations, shaping the identity of a new diaspora that may never fully feel at home, neither in their native land nor in their new environments." See The author of this post below. Let him come back first 😂

Travel › Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by ednut1(m): 2:55pm On Oct 16, 2024 |
travelinfo: Hello, I have a few questions regarding the visitor visa process. I have relatives and friends in Canada who are willing to send me an invitation letter upon my request. However, I’m unsure about the best way to receive this letter. I have found examples of the letter format online, but I would like to know if they need to send me a physical (hard copy) letter, or if it's acceptable for them to type, print, and scan the letter, then send it to me via email so that i just download the scanned copy in my email then upload it to my application on the IRCC portal.
Additionally, do they need to send a copy of the invitation letter to the Canadian embassy in Nigeria? If so, should this be a hard copy or a soft copy? Thank you very much for your assistance
cc ednut1 you are submitting the documents online so no need for printing or rescanning. They prepare it on word document attach their digital signature and send to you via email. The embassy in Nigeria does not process the applications and dont require any documents sent to them. You upload everything in the online portal. The way you are focusing on invitation letter ehn. Hope you know it doesn’t carry weight for visitors visa unless its for a parents. You will be assessed based on your home ties and probability of returning back home. |

Shueld06: So a friend is in a dilemma. She was nominated for express entry (provincial) in Canada 🇨🇦 and her visa was also approved today to begin a fully funded PhD program in the United States 🇺🇸 in January. Note that, for Canada, she’ll need to get there before shes able to secure jobs with her PR. If you were in her shoes what would u advise? She can go for both. Once she gets her PR she goes into Canada and does soft landing. Find a friend’s address to use for PR card that will be sent via post. Then return to USA To maintain your Canadian PR status you need to live in Canada cumulatively for 2 years in the next 5 years. She doesn’t have to drop any of them. You also dont need to be in Canada to apply for jobs, some people got jobs with their PR before landing |

advanceDNA: Well let's say it as it is in reality...not the worst case scenario.... I know it makes things easier if u have all ur tuition and have all ur proof of funds ready . But let's be realistic...nobody does that shiit except politicians and drug dealers
How many pple living abroad has 25k dollars sitting in their account.... study visa doesn’t make sense again to me. Its a big gamble with no guaranted stay. Many in canada are stranded, the 2 years post graduate work permit of many in Uk is expiring soon with not hope of job sponsorship. My friend studied in Belgium and said many are doing 2-3 different masters just to stay. The best is to upskill yourself in Nigeria, target countries with permanent residency/ job offer even tho that is hard too. |

There are other Countries in Europe that don't use block account and u can run proof of funds with garbage in garbage out personal account.....tuition is not even up to 5000£ .... University of Luxembourg has tuition as low as 300€ for life science courses..and 1800€ for management sciences
Do u know Belgium has option of using third-party that has a good account statement amd income to stand in for u as proof of funds .....and the person doesn't have to be family....
Guy make una nor dey discourage person oooo... Pple dey jappa with 15 milion....let alone 26Million No one that has made up his mind to japa can be discouraged tho. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: There's Nothing Wrong If A Region Says They Want To Leave Nigeria by ednut1(m): 1:54am On Oct 15, 2024 |
lastkingsman: There's no nation on earth with both religious and ethnic fault lines that's currently making progress. South Sudan is not a great example because that separation happened after the bloodiest conflict had already happened. Blood was already spilled and following and arms & ammunitions were everywhere so the infighting in South Sudan wasn't surprising. That's why I am vexed with Nnamdi Kanu and that efulefu called Ekpa because they are already arming charlatans to fight this cause. I want ohaneze Ndi Igbo to lead the struggle through a political negotiation and solution.
Dividing Nigerian will reduce these fault lines. I won't speak on how other ethnic nations will turn out but I know Igbo nation will have internal tribal squabbles but it depends on who emerges as leader to unite or further divide us.
There's a reason Nnamdi Azikiwe citied UNN in Nsukka, Enugu rather than Anambra where's he is from. I strongly believe a leader like PO/Oti/Ngozi will get it done.
Several former countries have separated and are now doing well:
1. Czechoslovakia: Split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993. Both are economically stable and EU members.
2. Yugoslavia: Split into multiple nations, including Slovenia and Croatia, which have become prosperous and stable.
3. USSR: Baltic states like Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have thrived since independence, with robust economies and EU membership.
4. Malaysia and Singapore: Separated in 1965. Singapore has since become a global financial hub with a highly developed economy. All the countries listed look nothing like us, dont think like us, dont have same situation. I prefer African examples |

The Northerners have their reasons- - they cant compete when merit is used ( we can see it in the jamb scores, common entrance scores etc) - they dont like the west, many are in middle east , sudan etc. south is more influenced by the west. -some northerners are satisfied with bare minimum, many southerners want better for themselves and children. |
