Melagros: Even you is doubting this theory, I am a bit disappointed with your input i resemble aviation expert That you are disappointed. Planes crash in different ways. Some nose dive suddenly, some lose their engines, explosions happen in some. If a plane nose dives suddenly the cabin wont extract na. If an explosion happens and it affects the cabin ejection system. How will it deploy? 🥴 |

babasolution: They just told you the fun part, they didn't tell you the impunity in which the oyos lived under, study about the specific rules of oyo kings, you'll cringe in disgust thats what humans do regardless of the system of government. Has DSS not been picking up opponents/ journalists in Nigeria The USA that is the role model of democracy has been bombing innocent children and also running using CIA to perpetuate evil world wild . The subjects under oyo empire were safer than when Dahomey and Fulani slave raiders were picking them up for shipment to the new world. |

babasolution: You don't know that 1857 was at the last peak of the slave raids, the people of Onitsha were devastated by slave raids, the whole Nigerian area was in turmoil in the 1800s including the SW.the Spanish, British, Portuguese brought nothing but slavery the food you eat today like - cassava, corn, rice, tomatoes, bell pepper, sweet / irish potatoes who brought them The clothes you use today including the isi agu, wrapper, red cap who brought them The later abolition of slavery by the British nko ( the African kings rejected it till a blockade was done by the British) . The abolition of many primitive practices like human sacrifice, osu caste system nko. The white man is not a saint neither were our own people. Stop trying to rewrite history to suit your narratives. |

babasolution: What were the lives of the people like comparatively?
The people under emperors ,going by most studies didn't live better lives, infact may have fared worst, also the empires were just to the glory of the monarchy essentially, the common people had little to no gains from the empires the globalization you enjoy today is a product of British, Spanish and Portuguese monarchy for the most part. People in oyo empire for example were able to trade with people as far as Mali and Sudan, before the fall of the empire the people there enjoyed protection which they paid tributaries for. The tributaries also made people productive as if you no pay kasala go burst. There was exchange of ideas and writing system ( ajami script). This is ajayi crowther’s observation when he got to onitsha. 😏

babasolution: You are quite wrong, the Hausa's were mostly victims of slavery from early in their history, the Hausa's were sold by the jukuns or kwararafas ( it's recorded in Kano chronicles), not until the 19th century did the Fulani gain power and started taking slaves from the middlebelt through the Nupe, the Nupe themselves at various times enslaved the Yorubas and vice versa, oyo power did not reach towards the eastern axis around igala area, the Ibadan's were the ones that stretched East due to gun supply from europeans you are missing the point. People took slaves from other tribes and not theirs , until they can no longer access it and may turn on their own people. System of government didn’t matter. |

babasolution: No one wasn't easy pickings for SLAVERY, the Hausa's even far from the coast were sold by their own LORDS to slavery first to Arabs and later to the coast,Yorubas also fell to SLAVERY by their own hands with constant instability and wars in their polity.only BENIN were somewhat shielded from slavery ,only due to their monarchs disposition to SLAVERY otherwise they too would have been victims,so in all emperor system was no BETTER the major tribes were taking slaves from other places. The Fulani /hausas were taking from the middle belt and areas close to the kanuris. The Yorubas were taking from nupe, igala , dahomey and nearby tribes including Yoruba speaking that were not under oyo. But when wars happened the strong major tribes became weak and fell victims to slavery themselves. When the oyo empire fell former victims of oyo slavery like the Dahomey began to take slaves from oyo empire. Benin didn’t fall to slavery because they they had a wall to protect them and were defeated by any of their neighbours. Form of government then was irrelevant. |

Dj4all: Hello my beloved Nairalanders!
Pls I have 2 questions to ask about my application.
1. I submitted my application for visit visa this week and by the news that came up yesterday that the visit visa to work policy has been cancelled on 28th August but they will continue to process application received before that date.
2. I did biometric 9 years ago but the application was refused and I payed for biometric few days ago to increase my biometric validity after submitting another application but yet to receive BIL letter for the biometric till today. It seems they don't require it again since the old one is still valid,
My fear is that hope it won't affect the duration of my visa? Does it mean
Does it also means we that those that has filed their application before the cancellation can still convert visit to work visa?
I will really appreciate your response since the influx of Nigerians coming to Canada in the hopes of converting started. I still haven’t seen anyone who successfully did it. They all filled for asylum or paid big money for arrangee LMIA. The ones that were making mouth on Nairaland all disappeared. Converting to work visa has always been a pipe dream. |

Something that ur slave masters can not condone from you is what u re saying its not a big deal here, as if Canada or Germany can alter their law for a citizen not to talk of a foreigners last time i am responding to you. Nigerians are all over Africa, Asia, and Europe using visitors visa for to work illegally, do business etc. in most cases they are left alone till they commit crime( fraud, drugs, robbery etc).
