European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Champions League To Resume On 7 August by Edopesin(op): 3:25pm On Jun 17, 2020 |
UEFA has given guidelines and the dates for the resumption of the champions leaguehttps://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/025e-0f9a3f8c5c4d-3323c8a96a4d-1000--when-will-the-champions-league-start-again/The 2019/20 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played as a straight knockout tournament in Lisbon, Portugal in August. All these ties will be single-leg fixtures.
A decision is pending on whether the four remaining round of 16 second legs will take place at the home team's stadium or in Portugal.
The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be split between Benfica's Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Sporting CP's Estádio José Alvalade. The Estádio do Dragão in Porto and the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques in Guimarães will host the four outstanding round of 16 second legs if required.
The 2019/20 UEFA Champions League has been on hold since Wednesday 11 March due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The revised schedule to conclude this season's competition was confirmed following Wednesday's UEFA Executive Committee meeting.
2019/20 UEFA Champions League schedule
7-8 August: Round of 16 second legs (venues to be confirmed) 12-15 August: Quarter-finals (Lisbon) 18-19 August: Semi-finals (Lisbon) 23 August: Final (Lisbon)
All fixtures will kick off at 21:00 CET. The date for the quarter-final and semi-final draws will be communicated in due course; the exact match schedule will then follow.
Upcoming UEFA Champions League finals
The 2019/20 final was due to be held at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul which will now instead stage the 2020/21 showpiece. The three subsequent final venues have also agreed to host a year later than originally planned.
2020: Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica or Estádio José Alvalade, Lisbon, Portugal 2021: Atatürk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey 2022: Saint Petersburg Stadium, Saint Petersburg, Russia 2023: Football Arena Munich, Munich, Germany 2024: Wembley Stadium, London, England
UEFA medical protocol and matches behind closed doors
The key principles of the UEFA medical protocol were also approved on Wednesday, and detailed guidelines will now be finalised over the next few weeks to ensure that a thorough sanitary plan be put in place to protect the health of all participants to UEFA matches when the competitions resume.
UEFA will be regularly assessing the situation across the continent and will liaise with local authorities to see when spectators could gradually return.
Key amendments to the 2019/20 club competitions' regulations
Teams will be allowed to register three new players on their List A for the remainder of the 2019/20 season, provided such players were already registered and eligible for the club since the last registration deadline (3 February 2020 for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League). List A will still only be able to contain a maximum of 25 players. It will not be possible for clubs to register newly-transferred players.
Five substitutions will be allowed in all the remaining matches in season 2019/20, in accordance with the temporary change to the Laws of the Game, whereas the number of substitutions for season 2020/21 will remain at three.
Next season
The access list for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League has not been affected by the new calendar.
The deadline for national associations to enter teams to the competitions will be 3 August for the UEFA Champions League.
The UEFA Executive Committee also approved a revised calendar for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League.
State of play
Half of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League round of 16 ties have already concluded, with Paris, Atlético, Leipzig and Atalanta through to the quarter-finals. The following round of 16 second legs are yet to be played:
Juventus vs Lyon (0-1) Manchester City vs Real Madrid (2-1) Bayern vs Chelsea (3-0) Barcelona vs Napoli (1-1) https://img.bleacherreport.net/img/images/photos/003/726/578/hi-res-47323a8a39f1d3504c5e3bd0a3674c96_crop_north.jpg? |

Fearlez: I understand there are likely two groups if people proposing immediate reopening of schools: lecturers due to income cut and students finding home boring and freedom clipped.
Even if your classes are only 75 people you're in a single geographical space with over 75,000 people. A situation where one person can actually infect a hundred people in seconds.
And young people are vulnerable too.... even though not as susceptible as older people. They suffer and may have eternal damage to lungs or kidney.
They are exposed at home, sure but minimally and run the risk of infecting many people.
There's a very cheap drug in the UK that is already mass produced and shown to have good potency. A couple more months and we'll be in the better shape. Can you give the name of the drug already being mass produced in the UK |

BillionaireTalk: the pouvoir 3 plus rather, it comes with a 6000 mah battery Pouvier 3 plus is a much better device and much more expensive than the Air, the Air is cheaper with also good battery but it's other functionality is mediocre when compared with the Plus but it depends on your budget |

mvem: hostels where everyone is doing things close to each other...rooms, bathroom, kitchen...how will you social distance in a hostel or class setting...will they fumigate bathrooms after everyone goes in or what ? nobody said anything about social distancing If they fumigate the hallways, Hostel entrances regularly and ensure that students use sanitizer stands that are placed at the different entrances of the hostels and class rooms are we not good to go? Unless you want us to wait for a cure that might not be available for the next 6 months |

Vinicius is fraud to me but i will be sincere okay lols I will only agree that vinicius is better if he can manage to score 5 league goals before the end of the season La liga or not the guy is overrated and has not done anything worthy of note in the la liga to say that he is better than Ejuke asides that he scored in El classico of how many months ago |

Fearlez: students have stayed longer due to strikes. What use is a degree to a dead student by the way.
I suggest the federal government tarry til there's a drug or the virus strain weakens.
There's been reported good progress on drugs which will be out shortly. Series of tests have will be made on potential drugs, these tests will take months before the drugs finally get to the mass production stage which is another hurdle on its own A readily available drug is not feasible this year |

fujirice: I see a lot of people re-stating the obvious problems we already have at hand, the real question is, “what is the way forward? What solutions are there to these problems already acknowledged?”. For me, keeping the schools closed down till God knows when is a no no for me. I hear a lot of people saying don’t open till September. What guarantee do you have that the pandemic would have disappeared in September or even if there’s a cure by September, that it would be enough. Like someone said earlier, Corona virus is here to stay, let’s find ways to live with it. Locking down our society is not the solution as we can see that the virus is still spreading. HIV/AIDS still doesn’t have a cure and you don’t see nations shutting down because of it, we learned to live with it as we manage it. Same should be our posture towards Covid-19. exactly, we don't know when there will be a cure available to the public and we cannot wait until God knows when |

Fearlez: let's put the scenario this way.
Schools are opened nation wide. All these students alight from different places of the state in different transportation services. One or two picks up the virus. Comes to school washes hand at school gate, washes hand at department gate, wahses hand at lecture hall.
Then sits in a crowded hall with no space, goes to cafeteria to eat lunch. They talk , laugh play in a class seating a hundred people. How long are they going to keep up before we see a rise of covid-19 cases?
The schools will even become lax within days of opening.
The truth is that the very nature of Nigerian schools cannot cope with covid-19 no matter if they put a stream of sanitisers there.
Too overcrowded, too disorganised. But then again students can't be left at home with six months remaining of the year and some schools haven't even started the first semester The truth of these matter is that Covid19 is not going anytime soon and all we can try to do is manage it until drugs are available for public use and until then the world cannot forever be on a stand still Places where gatherings are imminent should be taken into consideration not only in the schools but outside in public area like the interstate transportation parks |

Fearlez: Are you a Nigerian?
Do you know the actual population by in the average Nigerian class room or lecture hall?
It is over crowded. That's why the government emphasised at sanitizing different areas and putting up sanitizer stands |

Abeg, let's be real here!!! I'm being real and I'm also in Uniben so I know that if these guidelines are enforced we can resume |

frozen70: Easy said than done
Have you sat down to calculate how this things will work
Is like expecting social distance in Balogun market Social Distancing cannot work W know the places students are going to, if Uniben can enforce the sanitizing rules at those places I don't know why we shouldn't resume |
Education › Re: Guidelines For Reopening Of Schools By Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba by Edopesin: 10:46am On Jun 17, 2020 |
StillWiz: For example, numbers of student in UNIBEN was estimated to be around 75,000. So tell me how will this guidelines work? How many hand sanitizers will be available for 75,000 students and I've never include the new freshman that would be admitted after resumption. I'm just wondering tho Uniben can implement these guidelines, Classes and other public gathering areas will be sanitized with sanitizer stands in different places Uniben can control these things |

This can be enforced in schools no doubt, if the right authorities use their head StillWiz: For institutions that has over or less than 50,000 students how do you expect this guidelines to work Over or less than 50,000? I'm lost, are you saying it will work for precisely only 50,000 students |
