STEP10.PLAN TWO TIME-TABLES.A PERSONAL STUDY TIMETABLE AND AN EXAM REVISION TIME TABLE.DETAILS AVAILABLE IN THE 55-PARAGRAPH WRITE-UP |
step9.stop associating with students academically at par or below your level.seek to discuss studies and exams techniques with students who are academically sound.by the way the so-called students u regard as academically superior are only better than u at study and exam techniques.they are not necessarily smarter in life than you |
step8.expo has ruined the lives of many students and it may ruin yours too.nothing good in life comes easy.contact with an 'expo' carrying students a few hours before the exam can contaminate all your hours of prayers, study and exam techniques.shun such students cause u can pass without any expo! |
step7.use prayer ,study and exam techniques to build up your confidence.lack of it leads to loss of the little u know |
step6.often u hear students say 'i just need c6'.avoid such low aims. |
step5.if u find yourself in an emergency situation prepare an odu table from past questions and perm expected ones |
step4.read for understanding |
step3.cover the given syllabus strategically |
step2.get relevant textbooks and materials |
step 1.know the waec/neco syllabuses |
PREAMBLE Most students adopt a failure strategy by choice. They disregard all suggestions about study and exam techniques and only start thinking about the task on hand just a few weeks or days to the exams. For the short period they have left they adopt the usual routine-either looking for 'odu/expo' or staying up late cramming a few intangibles and irrelevancies for the exam. They then catch a few hours of fitful sleep getting up at the last minute to rush to their schools or exam centres many times arriving with little or nothing in their heads. They then race through the question papers or become giraffes or camels with neck pains in the hall while trying to copy other students they regard as good or better. In the exam hall,it is usually a battle of hide and seek with non-conniving invigilators for the usual dose of expo. What many students fail to understand is that the mountain they see in preparing for exams are actually mole hills. They forget that taking an exam is like putting up a show on a stage!.To a stage performerthe appropriate response is to get out on the stage and despite stomach butterflies let his or her fear mobilize a good performance. There is nothing wrong in being apprehensive about an exam cos grades to some extent get to determine his future path. The goal should therefore be to direct their energies towards exam-taking responses or a series of steps that can make them see exams as molehills or stepping stones. These steps as listed by CYRIL GBEME with a few modifications here and there made bu EDUPEDIA shall be presented below under 24 summarised steps Anyone who requires more detail in 55 paragraphs can either state his or her e-mail on this thread or send it to edupedianigeria@yahoo.com to be included on its mailing list.It is free! |
