You’ve just partied all night to celebrate your graduation. The following day, you wake feeling so good about yourself. You felt your head throbbing as you got up from the floor. It must have been the hangover. The garage was filled with liquor bottles scattered all over the floor. There were lots of people still lying down. You could even hear your best friend Gabby snoring. Party streamers were still hanging from the ceiling. You can still hear the sound system playing your favorite song. You were already halfway out of the garage when it hit you: “what now?” It’s all over. You’re a University graduate now. In other words, you’ve managed to work your way to being a professional. But there’s still one thing missing: your first job. You decided that you’ll start to write your resume right after all your friends leave the house. You peeked at the garage yet again just to see that everyone is still asleep. It’s already 8 in the morning. Luckily, they’ll all be wide awake by 10 am. By 10 am, they’re all out of your house, leaving you all alone as you walk towards your bedroom. You had the strong urge to hit the sheets, but you ignored it. The feeling of being fresh out of University is both thrilling and frightening at the same time. You’re ecstatic about showing the world what you’re made of, but you know fantasizing about it won’t get you anywhere. You have to get started. You have to hunt down companies and look for your first job. Everything starts now. It starts when I write my resume. With that in mind, you opened your laptop. A few hours later, you were done with the resume. You immediately stepped out of your room and ran into the neighborhood. Golly! It’s even harder than you thought. You found yourself lost in the middle of tall buildings. You don’t know where to look for job posts. You suddenly found yourself exhausted. Luckily, there was a couple of benches near the fountain. You then decided to lie down. You recalled all the things you’ve ever heard about job hunting. But there were just too many. You don’t know how to tell which ones were myths and which ones were real. You think it’s too dramatic? Well, it could happen. Probably, not in the fashion that I described, but you’ll still find yourself confused when it’s your first time looking for a job. People make it look so easy when in fact, it’s the opposite. They’ll say all things bravado just to get people to believe how awesome they are with job hunting. It could be a good thing for them, but not for you. You have no idea how your first job hunting will be like. With all the things they’ve said, how are you supposed to tell which ones are real and which ones are made up? Well, you’re in luck, in this article, I’m going to tell you some of the job hunting myths that will likely get you in trouble the first time you go out looking for a job: 1. All jobs are advertised Fresh graduates are usually looking for work that’s completely related to their field. That’s a good thing. What’s bad about it is that they rely too much on advertisements. If they don’t find a job on the ads then they assume right away that there’s a freeze hiring, or they’re just not looking to hire someone at the moment. Wrong! When managers advertise job post, they make the hiring process more difficult for them. They become exposed to hundreds, even thousands of applicants. How are they supposed to know which one has the right potential? It’s not like they have the luxury of time to review all their resumes. No, they can only look at resumes for a few seconds before they decide whether to shortlist him or not. Nobody wants to get through that trouble. To make things easier, they spread job posts through word of mouth. That way, they’ll only have to answer to applicants who are referred by people they know. With that, they’ll be sure that the people they’re entertaining are with potential. 2. Take the first offer that comes to you Fresh graduates can be obsessed with having a first job. It could be the most important thing on the planet for someone who just got out of the university. I mean, come one. We all know how hard it is to look for a job when you have job experience, what more if you’re completely new, right? But the thing is your first job is the most important aspect of your entire career. It’s the time when you should learn all you can from your job. How you do in your first job will have a say on how you’re going to get other companies to hire you in the future. That being said, don’t settle for the first offer you get. Take the job that will be the best for you and your career. 3. You need to know people to get a job If you know someone from the company, it’s going to give you a bigger chance of getting hired, that’s for sure. But if you don’t, it really won’t have any effect on your chance of getting hired. They won’t decide to brush you off just because you don’t know anyone. 4. Lower salary expectations to get hired Though having low salary expectations might get you hired, you’re only going to find yourself frustrated for being underpaid. Just imagine graduating from a really good university, and earning #40,000 per month. It’s tragic, right? You should know you worth. Look for companies that can pay you based on what you deserve. 5. Following up will irritate the interviewer Following up with your interviewer is a sign that you are interested in getting hired. There are two reasons why you should always follow up. First: They’ll appreciate knowing that one of their applicants is truly excited about getting the part. Second: The hiring manager might forget you if you fail to follow up. Know that people from the HR department get tons of resumes each day. They won’t be able to keep track of them all. So, what do you do then? Keep in touch. Even if the HR thought it would be nice to hire you, you might still end up in the “no” pile if he somehow forgets about you. To the ladies out there, you have to understand that not every guy who makes a romantic approach towards you in the university has good intentions. In fact, a larger percentage just need a side chick, that's all. In order for you to identify a guy who only wants you for sex early on, I have decided to compile a list of 10 clear signs that all he needs you for is sex. Read below. 1. He only texts you at night A campus guy who wants you only for sex will most probably text you only at night when he is feeling Hot after ignoring you all day. And all he does at that moment is to sext you. 2. He's always asking for your nudes A campus guy who wants only your body will always try to make you send nudes to him at all times. Those are probably the only true pictures he has of you on his phone. 3. He brings up sex in every conversation No matter how far your conversation might be away from sex, somehow he tries to maneuver the conversation in this direction. Then, it's a sure bet this guy wants you for nothing else other than sex. 4. He doesn't like being seen with you If a guy has supposedly professed his undying love for you, why then should he have a problem with being seen with you in the public. He does this only because he probably has a girlfriend or just several other clueless side chicks and intends to make you one also. 5. Always invites you over A guy with the intentions of having you only as a sex partner will always find a way to invite you over to maybe see a movie, do an assignment together or some other shady excuse. 6. Doesn't say much about himself He tries to keep information about himself as far away from you as possible because the lesser the amount of information you have about him the easier it is for him to disappear when he's done with you. 7. He's never there for you During the times when you are in distress and need someone to comfort you, he's never around. This is because he's not a boyfriend but just a sex partner. 8. Never lets you meet his friends Remember that old saying, 'show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are'. Well, he doesn't want you to know who he is, neither his intents so he keeps away from his friends at all costs. 9. Never buys you an actual gift If he indeed eventually gets you a gift, he'll probably get you a set of lingerie or vibrator cock rings. If these are the only set of gifts he gets, then run, My dear, he's not a potential boyfriend. 10. Makes you feel bad about yourself On countless occasions, he would always make you feel at fault and not good enough. He only does this to cloud your thinking and remain trapped with him until he is bored of you. That's that on 10 Clear Signs that Campus Guy only Wants your Body SOURCE : http://eduregard.com.ng/10-clear-signs-campus-guy-wants-body/ WARNING : DO NOT COPY THIS POST WITHOUT INCLUDING SOURCE LINKS WHERE DUE, FAILURE TO DO SO MIGHT ATTRACT DMCA INTERVENTIONS. After searching for a job for so long, it would take a certain measure of self-control to resist the urge to agree to take the job without even considering what it may cost you. Some jobs have been known to cost employees more than the job is giving back to them. This usually happens as a result of poor negotiation on the part of the employees before taking the job. Here are a few ideas on things you should consider negotiating with your employer before you accept the job. 1. Salary This, of course, is the principal thing on any job seeker’s mind. Though it’s not every time one gets to negotiate the amount of salary he/she wants to be paid per month, but whenever you do get the chance, be sure to make a good bargain. There are situations where employees at the same level within the same company have been known to collect different salaries owing to different bargaining power. 2. Transportation If this isn’t already listed amongst the staff welfare benefits, you may decide to ask. Transportation chops up a lot of one’s income especially if you have to take public transport, so you might want to take the distance from your house to the work-place into account while negotiating. 3. More vacation time / Leave Vacations are usually great times to take a break from all that stress at work and get a clear head. Most employer’s are you usually more willing to extend vacation time than to have employees troubling them for a raise. So you might want to negotiate that with your employer before accepting the job. 4. Flexible work hours You might consider asking your employer for more flexible hours, depending on the kind of work you do. For example, if you only worked with computers as a customer care agent, you may request for one day in a week where you’d be allowed to work from home. 5. Sponsoring further education You can always ask that your further education be sponsored by your company, especially if you have signed a long term contract to continue to work for that company or have shown intents that you won’t be leaving anytime soon In conclusion, nothing brings progress than having to work under the most suitable conditions, therefore, endeavor to consider the five points above and others before saying Yes to any job invitation. "Hey fam! Graduation is in two weeks oooo....." "Guy! Go and collect your gown oo" "#ADayToGo "Are we really graduating "All this might not sound real to you until the "Main day". The day you look at yourself and at your friends in the same type of gown. You smile, then you feel the urge to cry. Cry, because you might never see them again. Four years, or more, spent together. All the crazy, fun things you did together. The fights, the break-ups, the make ups... Everything. Then you realise you ain't little anymore, you realise you have a lot to do, you realize its time to face the outsideworld alonee, without your parents or anyone... Just you. Now don't you panic because it will all work out well. But for it to all work out well, you have a lot to do. 1. SET GOALS, BUT BE FLEXIBLE: This might sound contrasting because you think that once you set a goal you have to pursue it relentlessly. Yes, you will have to pursue your goal but you also have to keep your mind open to new ideas. While setting your goals, remember to allow room for changes. Supposing you set a goal to buy a car in 6 months and at the end of the day your means is not enough. Here is where flexibility comes in. You can move your time frame to a year and that solves it. Sometimes you will fall, especially in the aspect of reaching your goals. The key is not giving up on yourself and your goal. Things dont work out somethings because you didnt do them well enough. Also, you have to learn how to persevere. Not everything you do will work out well at first. The spirit of perseverance keeps you going. 2. LOVE YOUR WORK/WHAT YOU DO: If you love what you do, you won't give up on it easily. Your love for it will keep you on your toes. For instance, your love for cakes would make you memorize the recipe and you'll keep trying to make urs. Even if you keep failing, you make some changes to the recipe so as to get it right. This is the same way you work on yourself to get it right. Also learn an extra skill. This should y something you love apart from your job. Probably you've always had a thing for photography or sewing, learn how to do this things. Not only will it make you extra productive, it will make you happier. 3. NEVER STOP READING and keep your eyes open: knowledge, they say, is never wasted. Dont think that because you are done with college, you will forget all about college especially the library. As a lady, a football conversation with your boss or even a co-worker, will definitely portray you as an intelligent lady. Step out of your study limit today. Because you are a science student doesn't mean that you should not know anything about William Golding or even wole soyinka. Remember, a reader is a leader. PS: this helps to improve your conversations 4. DON'T EVER ABANDON YOUR COLLEGE FRIENDS: This is very important because they are the same set of people you meet in your future. That college mate you dislike so much might be the CEO you have to interview in the future(as an OAP). even will always need your old friends no matter what. Some might even be a stepping stone to help achieve your goal. 5. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO VOLUNTEER: Now you are out of college, you need a job. I know right. But you have no work experience. What do you do?? You can always volunteer. Let me use radio broadcasting as a case study. To be employed in a top class radio station, you have to have work experience. This work experience of a thing can be gotten easily(not that easily tho). You can volunteer at different radio stations like that of a college close to where you live. Funny thing is that most organizations need(and likes) volunteers. If you are good enough, I bet 80% that you will be retained. 6. LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS: When you know you have just $5, don't make a budget of $10. Where do you want to get the extra $5?? (except you are living on faith tho). When you are earning $100 per month, I don't expect you to go rent a flat of $500 per annum when you have other pressing needs to attend to. You don't have to live outside your means just because you want to please others. Remember, they won't be the ones to suffer the consequences. 7. DISCIPLINE IS KEY: Discipline yourself in every way. While waiting to be employed, you can strive to wake up at the time you would when you resume work. This would help your body get used to the routine. Financially, you need to discipline yourself to buy (and spend on) what you need not what you want. Also, discipline yourself at work to meet up with deadlines. 8. BE DILIGENT IN ALL YOU DO: Whether you are volunteering or you are working or learning a skill, diligence pays. You might think no one is watching but really, people are watching you. To round this up, let me share a story. In a popular pentecostal church in Ibadan, Nigeria, a cameraman was always working diligently. If the man of God talks about a section of the church, for instance, the choir, he is always quick to move there and cover the section. This went on for long. Obviously, people didn't see it as anything, am sure some didn't notice at all. But there came a Sunday... That particular Sunday, the man of God was praising the choir for singing well. As usual the cameraman went to cover the choir. The man of God called the cameraman and told him to hand over the camera to his assistant and he should come forward. There and then, in front of the church and the online worshippers, the man of God commended his hard work and said he has always seen him working really hard. The man of God then 'compensated' him by saying that everywhere he(the man of God) goes, around the globe, the cameraman would be part of the media crew to follow him. He promised to organize his visa, his passport, everything. Just when no one expected, the diligent man was rewarded above his expectations. Be DILIGENT!! Crushing over someone is like loving the impossible or imagining for something almost impossible to be possible. Crushing is like an emotional prison where you are arrested by love. Some people Infatuate but misconstrue it as crush. Either of the two, I'll give you some steps to get over with your crush. These steps, though they are for the girls, guys can also use them for their own good. 1. Realization: The hardest part about getting over your crush is realizing that he doesn't like you the same way that you like him. The realization might be the first step, but it's the hardest step to take. While you may like the guy, while you may even love him, if he doesn't feel the same, you can't force it – no matter how much you try to. 2. Admit you have a crush: Once you've come to the realization that he might not have the same feelings you have for him, you've got to admit that you have a crush. I know it can be hard girls, but even if you just stand in front of your mirror and admit to yourself that you have a crush. State your feelings out loud. You don't have to tell anyone else how you feel, but verbalizing your problem out loud — even if you're the only person in the room — can help it seem real and approachable. 3. Accept the situation: You've admitted that you have a crush and even though it's far from the ideal situation, try to make steps towards accepting the situation. Try not to be stubborn about it or be in denial of what's really going on. Perhaps the two of you aren't as compatible as you first thought. You might even find later on that it was a good thing that your crush never turned into more. This is not failure. There are times, though, when perseverance morphs into desperation and stupidity. Chasing an impossible crush is one of those times. Let it go. 4. Don't take it personal: Just because he doesn't have feelings for you, it is not something that you can take personal. Learning to get over your crush might not be easy, but it isn't a personal indictment. A guy can't control his feelings just like you can't control your feelings. Imagine if a guy likes you, but you have absolutely no feelings for him – don't take it personally. 5. Avoid anger Taking personal and being angry are somewhat similar but differ. Don't turn your crush into anger - you'll still be thinking about him and obsessing about him, just in a different way. It may feel good to bash him to your friends and to tear him apart for everything he's ever done wrong, but in the end it's not a great solution. Some people just aren't meant to be together and getting angry about it isn't going to change anything. 6. Do a reflection When you are trying to get over your crush, why not take the time to reflect? Did you act differently around him? Did you scare him off? Was there something that you did? You want to reflect on everything and all of the interaction that you've had – just for a little while, don't dwell because you don't want to dwell on something that will never happen for days and days, but just reflect. 7. Be honest with yourself: Getting over your crush is never easy, but you have to be honest with yourself. You've got to be upfront with yourself about your feelings and how you are affected by your crush not returning to them. Once you are honest with yourself about how hurt you are, it's easier to process and simpler to heal. 8. Avoid thinking about him: One of the best ways to get over your crush is to stop thinking about it. I know it might be difficult, but when you are thinking about him, you've got to dwell on something else. Avoid thinking about him at all costs. Engage yourself in a hobby that you've never done before, talk to your friends, get into a support group with your family. Keep yourself busy and you'll be able to get over your crush more quickly. 9. Seek support from reliable family members and trustworthy friends: One of the best ways to try and get over any difficult situation is to seek support. Do you have a friend who has gone through a similar situation and you want her advice? Or maybe you just need someone to listen. Either way, talk to your friends and family members. They can help you sort through your feelings and even offer some sound advice. 10. Keep a good distance from your crush: It's also a good idea to keep your distance and avoid contact while you're trying to get over your crush. You might not be able to completely avoid seeing or running into your crush if you're friends, work at the same place or go to the same school. But, you can try to make yourself less available and focus on yourself. If he/she doesn't understand, explain that you need some time on your own right now. I hope these steps help guys and girls in getting over their crush. SOURCE : 10 Smart Steps To Help You Get Over Your Campus Crush |
