A day that was suppose to be a celebration day where all Muslims celebrate life by sacrificing rams to commemorate and remember the day Prophet Ibrahim {A.S.W} fufilled his promise to sacrifice his son to Allah but was presented with a ram for the sacrifice, the day, christened Eil-Adha or Eid-il-Kabir was turned to a bloody day where human being rather than rams were killed and others injured as two royal families in Kwara state clashed, the after-match which resulted in the death of a policeman was while 15 civilians were injured.

The clash happened at the Ganmo Muslim praying ground in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to report, crisis began at the praying ground during a disagreement over who should lead the Eid prayers, atleast 10 cars were damaged and the palace of the Olu of Ganmo, Atanda Kolawole, was burnt down by suspected hoodlums during the clash.

There has been a long-standing chieftaincy tussle between Kolawole and the Okunoye family from Idi-Ape. The Okunoye lineage is allegedly opposed to the leadership of the Kolawole family, a matter which is said to be currently before the Supreme Court.

Some of the people injured at the praying ground were rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital and some private hospitals in the state capital.

Report also says,one of the feuding royal families allegedly recruited eight soldiers for the clash, a situation which resulted in a free-for-all.

Riot policemen sent to area to quell the crisis were allegedly resisted by the soldiers.

The spokesman of the state police command, Mr. Ezekiel Dabo, told newsmen that the policeman was killed when a soldier tried to disarm him. enownow news

The Police in Lagos foiled a plots by three armed men who attempted stealing 3 rams at the ram market in Gbagada area of Lagos, Nigeria.

Early on Tuesday [the day of the Eid-Kabir celebration} at about 2am, three armed men stormed the ram market in a Mazda car shot sporadically into the air as they entered the market.

Some of the ram sellers who slept in the market took to their heels.

The Punch newspaper quoted an unnamed police officer, who declined identification because he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the police, that the men quickly selected three fat rams and put them inside the boot of their get-away car.

But the gun they shot into the air when they were entering the market, attracted policemen on patrol duty and the policemen went there.

"On sighting the robbers, the policemen told them to give themselves up. But, instead of complying, they shot at the policemen.

At the end of the day, two of them were shot dead, while the third one ran away. We recovered the rams and the car,"he said, enownow news
