Papi85:He is a natural goal scorer; give him playing time, and he will find the back of the net. If injury allows him to participate in enough matches for Coventry this season, I believe he will score in double digits in the Premier League. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he reaches 15 or more goals this season. Unfortunately, injuries have not been kind to him. |
BascoVanVeli:Talent has never been an issue with him. I have said it: in the current generation of the Super Eagles, we have 5 players that talent-wise are the caliber of players that should be powering Nigeria to major victories. When I say "levels," I am talking of players with the ability to play and start on Champions League-contending-caliber teams. They are Victor Oshimhen, Ademola Lookman, Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze, and Victor Boniface. Victor Oshimhen, Calvin Bassey, and Ademola Lookman are very dedicated to their craft and are very professional. Another solid season for Calvin Bassey for Fulham, and he will be on his way to a big club. Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze need to be more professional. They are solely relying on their natural god-given talent. I could be wrong, but from what I have seen from both of these players, they always come off as immature and unprofessional. It just seems to me that they are simply in it for the money. As a Super Eagles fan, I play and really hope that both of these extremely talented players have turned the corner and are ready to take their careers to a new height. We need Victor Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze at their best. These are the quality of players that we need to be able to compete against any team in the world. |
SymphonyRad:I really don't want to be disrespectful but the way you sound is exactly why black africa is 300 years behind the rest of the world. What do you mean by curse? You got somebody dumb and unqualified to a critical position. This Olodo that you hired can not see beyond his nose so, he went ahead and hired an unqualified coach and the olodo coach he hired stunk up the joint with his decision and tactics and you are here blaming the gods your ancestors claimed to have worshipped 200 years ago. |
No worldcup for the female team too. The country is going backward in everything. You have created society where competency, qualifications are no longer a requirement for critical positions in a society. Your president have no classmate or authentic university qualification. Your FA boss qualification for his current position is that he was the sports commissioner in Zamfara. I have never heard of anybody from Zamfara achieving any success in sport both in Nigeria or oversee. The comedians here are people surprised that both the Nigerian economy and sports have been destroyed beyond recognition. You guys should continue fooling yourself in that country. You put people in critical positions you would not hire as your secretary and you expect miracles to happen. Make una continue deceiving yourself in that country. |
[quote author=TheSuperNerd post=140297063]Culled from Sogndal site... Young Nigerian striker Kparobo Arierhi (19) comes on loan from Lillestrøm until the end of the season. – I feel like this will be a good place for me. After looking around here, Sogndal seems to be a good place to develop, play and thrive, says "KP". He arrived in Sogndal on Sunday and watched the match against Bryne. On Monday he joined the team and completed his first training session. – People are very nice here. This is going to be very good, said Arierhi on his way out to the session. The Nigerian came to Norway and Lillestrøm in 2024. He has 11 appearances (two starts) and one goal in the Eliteserien. The goal came in the derby against Vålerenga earlier this season. Now he comes to Sogndal in search of more playing time and good development opportunities. – Kparobo is a young and exciting player. He is a fast back-up striker and will complement the others we have in the squad. Now we are looking forward to starting the autumn season together, says Håvard Flo, responsible for player logistics. After selling both Oliver Hintsa (Dinamo București) and Sebastian Pedersen (Orlando Pirates) in this transfer window, Flo is satisfied with having strengthened the width at the top. – After the sale, the need arose to bring in a replacement who can add speed and a different type of skills than what we have before. We are very grateful that we were able to come to this solution with Lillestrøm, as the interest in Arierhi was great, says Flo. Arierhi was loaned to Mjøndalen last year, where he scored four goals. He also played in the U20 World Cup for Nigeria that same year. He also helped them win bronze in the U20 Africa Championship – and scored a goal in the tournament. We would like to thank Lillestrøm for the good process. Welcome to Sogndal, Kparobo! I have seen this kid play and am not really sold on him. He is very fast and quite technical but his finishing as a striker is very atrocious. He is still very young and can definitely make huge jump in that aspect of his game. I wish the lad all the best. |
TheSuperNerd:Great news. |
Sugarboyy:Obasanjo, Yaradua, Jonathan were not angels but they were nationalist in their thinking. Nigeria since 2015 have been ran from a regional tribalistic point of view and the result are showing up in every aspect of the society from economic to sports. PDP despite it shortcomings was a party founded by nationalist. APC is combination of regional southwest party ACN and Northern regional Party CPC. Since they came to power in 2015 anyone with a brain cell can see that they are not nationalist in governance This country need a total reset. |
They are ruining our football. I just got off the phone with a very good friend of mine who used to be very passionate about Nigerian football, and he could not care about Nigerian football anymore; he is now a fully USMNT and USWNT fan. He said he gave up on Nigerian football when Salisu Yusuf was caught on camera collecting bribes, and the NFF shrugged off the public outcry and still rapidly reinstated him to the top national coaching position. He is still amazed at why I am still wasting my time supporting a team that NFF uses as a marketing tool. His point was they will never hire a coach that will do the right thing or be competent; they will only hire business partners that they will parade as coaches. Before the contract is even signed, player allocations are established. Mavlon FC is an academy secretly owned by the NFF officials, and this academy is now the main supplier of youth players to our youth national teams. |
Sugarboyy:Once again you are going tribal towards your unimageable enemies. The 70 per cent you are quoting tells me you have not even done your research before making those statements. I was born and currently reside in America, and I am pan-African because I am fully aware of how the world sees us. Once you leave the shore of Nigeria, everybody sees you as a Nigerian. Once you leave the shores of Africa, everybody sees you as black, and this is why una tribalism is really a confirmation of lack of exposure and lack of travelling. I don't give a Bleep if the best players in the country are from Maduigury as long as they are truly the best legs that we have. The world is run on data points and statistics. Every statistical analysis done will tell you the regions or places where the best talented Nigerian players historically come from. If you go and run your statistical analysis of Nigerian youth teams that have done very well at global competitions, you will tend to see data points pointing you towards the enclaves these players come from. Statistical analysis will tell you there is a greater probability of you finding quality players in Owerri, Enugu, Benin, Asaba, Kaduna or Jos than Madugiri, Yola or Damaturu. This is not tribalism; it is just data points. When I see a Nigerian youth team without players from that enclave dominating the names on the list, you can see why when they don't perform, it raises the question of how they were selected. |
Amedino99:Stop hiring these Nigerian coaches. They are usually very tribalistic and regional. I would rather the NFF go and hire a Black African coach than a local Nigerian coach. Go and hire a foreign coach and let him scout for talents all over the country. Nigerians, especially those born in Nigeria, are the most tribalistic set of people you will find anywhere on earth. Once I see the lists of players on any youth Nigerian team, I can tell you the region the coach came from. |
This country is very sick, and anybody that actually really cares about this country needs to get ready to save this country. Nigeria has been hijacked by the highest level of criminals. Olodo rising has taken over. Corruption, nepotism, tribalism, and criminality are now the order of the day. I have never seen every aspect of Nigerian institutions be this bad in my lifetime. Our youth teams can no longer qualify for the World Cups. Our men's team can no longer qualify for the World Cup, and now our women's team will not be at the World Cup. This country cannot continue in its current state. Everything about this country is becoming unrecognizable by the day. People of goodwill need to go and save this country. Unqualified people have taken over every sector in the country, and they are running it to the ground. I have never been political all my life, but Nigeria needs a total reset. Nigeria has always been governed badly, but there was at least some limit to some of the madness in the past. What we are currently seeing is a complete criminality enterprise running affairs, appointing their fellow criminals in important positions, and these criminals are completely wrecking the country to a level never seen before. I have heard people here talking about the election in September like anything is going to change if the people don't take this fight to the street. The NFF needs a total overhaul. Nigeria needs a total overhaul. Every aspect of Nigerian institutions needs a total overhaul. |
Nnadozie look overweight and she has been terrible in this wfcon. I am very disappointed in her performances this wfcon. The next superfalcon coach need to find a real competition for her going forward. |
The gulf in quality that i saw between Nigeria and Ivory Coast had me wondering if these boys are really the best we have in country. Ivory Coast players looked a couple of levels better than our players. We got lucky in that game. Burkina Faso looks like they are going to win this game easily. I refuse to believe this boys are the best we have in the country. |
I hearing that Victor Boniface is doing well in training and the new Bayer Coach really like him. I still believe that Victor Boniface is by far the second most talented forward we currently have and it is too early to give up on him. |
Yira Sor is on his way to Turkey. He already in the country as i write to sign for a useless Turkish club. To be honest with you guys I don't really rate him highly but at the same time it demonstrates the things I have been saying regarding how this league is a grave danger to Nigerian football. I don't really get this obsession with Nigerian players. They have their eyes on every motherfucking Nigerian player. I don't really think alot of guys here really understand how devastating this is for Nigerian football. |
They are about to be dumped out just as I predicted. Nigerians especially those 50 and up born and grew up in Nigeria are just too close minded and tribalistic to be able do anything right. If I have my way stop giving this jobs to local nigerian coaches. Go get a competent foreign coach and give him the U17 and U20 job. These older Nigerian coaches are not different than the politicians who everything about them centers on corruption, tribalism and religion. Immediately i saw the squad i counted them out. The majority of the best players in Nigeria can be found in the SE (Enugu and Owerri precisely) SS (Delta and Edo precisely) Middlebeit ( Benue) SW ( Lagos/Ogun axis) and finally Kaduna. Any Nigerian youth teams i don't see majority of the players coming from SE, SS and Benue i usually don't waste my time watching them. This is the gospel truth. |
TheSuperNerd:He is a promising player. I liked him and taught he was one of the better ones among the mediocre group in the last U20 world cup. There is something there that if he put his head down and work hard he is definitely a supereargles in waiting. He is raw but he has talent and that is the most important thing. |
Odunayaw:Continue deceiving yourself. Deep down your heart you know where the best football players from Nigeria usually comes from. Go to France they will tell you the demographics that produces their best players. Go to America they will tell you the demographics that produces their best NFL and NBA players. We love lying and deceiving ourselves in Nigeria. No wonder the whole country is a train wreck. Make una Continue to deceive unaself for that country. |
The day we start telling ourselves the truth in this country will be the day we start making real progress in Nigeria. I just don't like these local Nigerian coaches because they are mostly corrupt and have a preference for picking players from their region. If the coach is from a particular region of the country, most of the players in the team will be from that region. I said it last week: every time I see a Nigerian youth team handled by a local coach and I don't see SE, SS, and Benue names on that team, I automatically lower my expectation because I know the best youth team players in the country are definitely not on that team. It has nothing to do with tribalism but just the gospel truth. Go and get any foreign coach, give him the youth team coach job, and allow him to pick his players. I will bet my mortgage that 90 percent of the players will come from the SS, SE, SW, and Benue. Go back and look at the youth Nigerian teams that performed on the world stage and see where the players came from. We like deceiving ourselves in Nigeria, and this is the big problem with this country. My old man used to say a man cannot give you what he does not have. You cannot compete at the international level without your best legs. You can get away with it against inferior opponents, but once you meet a decent side, you will be exposed. |
TheSuperNerd:I have seen this kid play as recently as last preseason games for AC Milan. He is way better than Italian division 3. This kid need to find his way out of Italy and go to a good developmental league like any team in Holland, Belguim, Austria, Switzerland even Czech Republic and start building his career. In the name of God please find your way out of Italy. |
typicalgamer:omo nothing do me. I dey fine. Body dey chill and i am peace buddy. If you understand football development you will understand that the turkish league is aiming to be a stage 5 cancer to the Nigerian national team. It is not a developmental league that grows or nature talent neither is it a top quality league. If you don't understand the threat that this league is to the Nigerian national team omo I don't know what to say to you. |
Papi85:I have deep seated hate for these turkish clubs. They are out to ruin our football. They are after every fucking Nigerian player. Fucking hate that league and clubs with passion. I am just in the process of buying Tolu Ajax and supereargles jersey for giving trabzonspor middle finger when they came for him. For that single act alone I have become a massive Tolu Arokodare fan. |
TheSuperNerd:Baller. Complete baller. I can't wait to see him in the SE. I went bank watching the 94 supereargles games at the worldcup and I was amazed at how technically gifted every single one them was. The decline of the supereargles started when players like Ndidi started showing up as opposed to players like Mikel. We need technically gifted players comfortably on the ball to start putting all these minor african teams that whenever they see Nigeria they play like thier lives depends on that game to thier place. I am not trying to disrespect Ndidi. I like Ndidi but he is more of a destroyer than initiator. That skillet is needed when you play against teams you are on par with or inferior but against teams sitting in low blocks is not as beneficial. |
BankyGee:I have seen this scenario with this boy for a very long time, and to be honest with you, I am almost done with this boy. When he is in the mood, he will be the best player on the pitch against any team in the world, and then he will go through weeks playing like a player that still needs football developmental lessons. I saw Chukwueze against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu playing for Villarreal, and he looked a level above every player that was on that pitch that day, including Vinícius Jr. Chukwueze's matter don tire me out completely. Talent is never his issue; the problem is I don't really know if this boy really wants to be remembered as a great player or if he is just satisfied making millions of dollars yearly playing football. Talent-wise, he is among the top 3 to 5 of this generation of supereagles, but his work ethic and drive to be great are just not there. I heard that he recently hired a personal trainer. By doing that, I am now starting to believe that there are some realisations coming from his end that pure god-gifted talent can only take him to a certain level. The disappointment in Fulham failing to make the loan move permanent and the lack of interest from other Premier League teams and the coming of right wingers in the national team like femi azeez, Zadok Yohanna and Nathan Tella looking to dispose of him out of the Super Eagles, I believe, could be the catalyst that can finally make this boy be more consistent in his play. I like Chukwueze because on his day he is that 100 million pounds player who can win a big game for Nigeria. |
lordofstrings:Kelechi Ihenacho should be preparing for life after football and he made the right choice here. His best days as a footballer is behind him so I wish the lad the best. Bang in goals there and see if you can closeout the journey with a move to Saudi Arabia where you go chop money clean mouth ighalo style. |
solonnachi:Eric Chelle is cooking. He is trying to build a formidable Supereargles. The days of players not giving 100 percent in the national team will soon be a thing of the past. He is trying to create a fierce competition in every position. This is what we used to have in the 90s. If you don't work hard for the team there will be another person just as good ready to take your spot. |
Sugarboyy:Continue deceiving yourself. Go and look at Nigerian youth teams that actually performed at the world stage and tell me where the vast majority of the players came from. They were mostly from the SS and SE. Whenever i see a nigerian youth teams with edo sounding names. Delta sounding names and igbo sounding names i usually feel good abouth that team. Before you accuse me of coming from the southeast I am from Akwa Ibom state. We need to start telling ourselves the truth in Nigetia. |
Amedino99:We like to lie to ourselves in Nigeria. I just mentioned parts of the country that best Nigerian players come from. I am pan African to the core and if the best Nigerians players comes from Borno it will not mean a darm it to me as long as they are the best players. If an American coach present a basketball team filled up with white players most logical people will question if they are really the best players in the country because data suggests that the best basketball players in the country tend to come from black urban neighborhoods. |
I am not trying to be tribal here but the truth must be told. The best Nigerian football players are usually from the South South Southeast and to lesser extent SW. Delta State, Edo State, Lagos State Enugu and Imo State tend to produce alot of talent. Whenever I see a Nigerian team list filled up with Northern sounding names I tend to lower my expectations. |
Argentina is a slightly better version of Uruguay, with the greatest player to ever walk the surface of the earth. The only reason this team made it this far was simply because of Messi. Egypt had them on the ropes but stupidly gave the game away. Switzerland played them off the field and was on their way to dispatching them out of the tournament before the red card incident. England simply threw the game away after going ahead. I was never sold on this Argentine team; it was a team running on luck and with a little magician. Spain, Portugal, and France were levels above any other team in this tournament. World Cup contenders for me going into the tournament France Spain Portugal (I taught Martinez had two balls between his legs to bench Ronaldo, and his inability to make that decision ended Portugal hopes). Dangerous teams I had in mind that with luck and rub of the green can win it, but I still had them a level below France, Spain & Portugal. England Brazil Germany My dark horses were Colombia Argentina (I never really rated Argentina; I had them as a dark horse simply because of that little magician wearing number 10.) Netherlands Norway Japan Surprise Team (teams I felt could reach the quarter finals with a bit of luck) Ivory Coast Senegal Turkey USA Mexico |
I have been hearing about this Akpe Victory, and I never really commented on him because I had never seen him play before. I just finished watching the preseason friendly between FC Basel and Juventus, and this boy is good. To be that good and commanding at 19 is scary. I know it is only a preseason friendly, but this boy has caught my attention, and I will definitely be closely monitoring him this season. I am highly impressed with what I saw. The boy that I saw today will not be at FC Basel next season. His physique and playing style remind me so much of Edmond Tapsoba the Burkinabe Bayer Leverkusen gem. Super-eagle centerback positions in the coming years will be a thing of beauty to witness the mouthwatering competition that will take place. Until the recent emergence of proper centerbacks we never really had a proper centerback since the retirement of Joseph Yobo. Eric Chelle in the coming years will have sleepless nights trying to pick the starting centerbacks in the SE. The other Nigerian lad K. Olaigbe did not impress me at all. It is only one friendly game, so I will not totally write him off, but based on what I saw, he is nowhere near Super Eagles quality. Wish the lad good luck in his career. |
Papi85:There are still some controversies surrounding his nationality, but when he was in great form with Gent The NFF invited him to play for Nigeria. His dad is Nigerian, and his mom is Togolese, but he was born in Nigeria. Going by FIFA rules, he has not been cap-tied in a senior official match for both nations. The Togolese football federation wanted to complicate the issue, but he made it absolutely clear to them that he was not interested in playing for Togo and that he only wanted to play for Nigeria. |
