HMm... Congrats bro... Although this is just the beginning of your woes. The life of an employee Is hell.. Get ready to start knotting that tie everyday.. Get ready to wake up early and rush to work as if your life depends on it.. Get ready for 'not having time'. Get ready for depression and job insecurities.

As you climb the ladder of promotion, you'll discover that's it's not getting easier, it's getting tougher. More responsibilities, more taxes, more woes.. That's what we call modern slavery.

Once again, congratulations. Welcome to the world of modern slavery.

how do u blame director for faults u have with movie plot, this is funny, coming from a supposed movie blogger.
and apparently, let's blame directors for movie BO performance if it underperforms, all hail Perkins then for WW BO performance right? cos ur here claiming WW performance was due to feminism or whatever but never gave credit to the director but blame Snyder for MOS & BVS performances.
Dude, rest with the Snyder hate abeg.

and no, I'm not new here, I've been following this thread since forever.
In case you don't know, the director of any film has influence over the plot. He may decide to make changes to it if he deems fit. And yes, directors are to a large extent responsible for the box performance of their films looking at it from the perspective of track record. It's also the same reason why a Chris Nolan will always be successful at the box office.

But let's look at Zack Snyder's record (financially) coming into the DCEU. Watchmen, Sucker Punch, Legend of the Guardians. Tell me, how many of these films were successful at the box office. They weren't even critical darlings They all under-performed.

You might think I hate Snyder, but his track record is there for all to see.

We DC fans keep saying that critics hate Zack Snyder. That might be true, but go look at the RT scores of all his movies pre the DCEU. It's only Dawn of the Dead that stands out. Even the so so acclaimed Watchmen (which did poor at the box office) only boasts of 65% on RT.

The only positives with the guy I'll say are his visuals and that is not enough for 21st century cbms. To me, I'll advise the guy to stick to smaller,
moderately sized budget movies just like Dawn of the dead. Those are his strengths, not block busters.

A very good example is M night shyalaman. That guy is responsible for two of the most memorable box office flops in history: The last air bender and After Earth: both of which were supposed to be blockbusters and featured heavy CGI. But look at his record with moderate budget/smaller scale films like Split, The Sixth Sense and The Visit. Look at how successful he is with those kind of films. That I think is what Snyder should be doing. He's good with small budget films.

And if you dare say MOS and BvS were successful at the BO to an extent. Why won't they. It's Batman and Superman we're talking about. people will always see their movies. Even the atrocious Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin still made a decent amount of income.

I'll still say it again, to a large extent, I blame Snyder for the under performance of BvS and MOS

Once again, I don't hate Snyder, but before you quote, analyze his track record and you'll see what I'm talking about

I can relate to that.

Office politics and eye service are conjoined twins.

I had thought work place is like school where brilliance and hard work is all you need to excel, it was a very wrong assumption that I found out the hard way.

You must mix in a good quantity of eye service to excel.

I was always accused of not "being loyal", when I had not flouted any company rules and my key performance index was above average.

Notwithstanding the fact that I bought drinks for "the boys" When the need arose, which was more often than not.
SMH.

Sometimes I wonder which is more difficult, finding a job or keeping a job, with all the office politics and eye services.
You hit the nail on the head. Eye service is a menace in most Nigerian organizations.

WW doing perfectly ok doesn't make it a very good movie to me. You predicted such because it's feminist-centric and critics would definitely want to go soft on it. we all saw that coming too.
Zack remains the only director that can easily uplift page to pages from comic books and present them in a live CBM accurately no other. No wonder James Cameron (if not the best director of all time) praised Zack's work and also said he likes the Virtual Guru movies because he learns things from his style.. That alone shows majority of CBM fans/nerds we have (presently) are people of mid 90s and early 2000s who don't know much of comics.
Comic books I grew up with, in mid 80s till 2000s are perfect interpretation of what Zack is putting on screen for us to see. Especially their fights pattern.....
Well, that's your take on it.
Personally, I feel Snyder style of filming is not cut out for CBM's

Bro, calm down with this your Zack Snyder this, Zack Snyder that ok. Your hatred towards Zack is probably over clouding your judgement.
When guys go full out to praise WW and try to massacre Zack's early DCEU works shows how shortsighted we are.
We forget so early that the great casts we are seeing today were mostly cast by Zack himself. Even Jenkins Patty (or whatever) said it herself that "if it were to be her, she wouldn't have hired Gal Gadot to play the role of Wonder Woman". So I think we should keep on appreciating Zack every day for helping us to assemble these great casts.
Why blaming Zack for Superman's death? was it him who wrote or co-wrote BvS script... However, to me, BvS: DoJ UE is by far a more coherent and superior movie to almost every movies MCU have out there.
For the record, WW is the second most weakest movies DCEU have out there (based on my take). WW really showed me the kind of movies we appreciate lol! Am a core DCEU fan, but when I see a weak one I can really tell. WW is weak, just like SS and by extension, AoU and their likes. But guys like you tend to praise them, why - because critics said they are good lol.
Read my comment very well, I said I predicted that WW would do well. I did not praise it for once. Read through!

@ Posman
It's like you are new to this thread, but please do me a favor. Go to the first 70 pages on this thread and read every comment from the moniker raazaghul. But you might be busy and I'll assume you are. So I'll clarify myself for you.
I don't hate Snyder, I hate his style of shooting a la everything-must-be-dark-and-symbolic and at the same time ignoring the core story/plot of the film. Tonyspike said something earlier in this thread. Something along the lines of audiences wanting everything spelt out for them. Saying he prefers Snyder's style of cloaking everything in symbols. That's his take! But if most people want directors to tell them everything, then the director should probably do so. After, it's "most people" that'll buy the tickets.
I don't hate Snyder for everything, but I'll tell you what I blame him for.
1. MOS under-performance at the box office
2. BVS under-performance at the box office.
3. And because MOS under-performed, Warner and Co are still figuring out what to do with the character hence the omission of MOS 2 in their recently released schedule. No surprises though, Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad will get a sequel first.
4. He squandered a good plot opportunity for MOS2 by killing Superman at the end, that concept alone could be used to fill in a sequel to MOS.
5. And now, he's directed over 85% of Justice League. Truth be told, I feel Justice League is BvS happening again. Darkness, too much CGI and a plot that might not make sense.
The Snyder's formula in the DCEU= Dark palette + CGI + Symbolism + a nonsensical plot

I pray Justice League makes a billion dollars no matter how bad it turns out. And if you want to know why I fear for Justice League. Zack Snyder's track record.

All this while folks are happy that Wonder Woman did well at the box office and critically also, a lot of people predicted that. I did, tonyspike did. We knew the feminist movement will propel it to success.

The real test now of the DCEU is Justice League. If that film makes less than a billion dollars at the box office (even 985 million dollars), Warner Bros might begin second guessing their universe. They might not stop because of films like WW and SS, but there might be changes which you and I may not like.

Again, why am I being pessimistic with Justice League, because Zack Snyder is in the director's chair. It was the same pessimism I had for BVS. Look at how that turned out.

Peace Brother!

Naah, I don't support Patty Jenkins for JL 2. She pulled off WW mainly because of Synder and John Geoff. Even WW was a little off in terms of the strong mythos of earlier DCEU movies. Patty should rather be assigned to WW2. Whoever is handling JL 2 must be able to see the bigger picture like Snyder and understand the entire template of the DCEU.
Though I support when you say Patty shouldn't be assigned to JL, I don't understand what you mean by this statement.

CareerRe: God Is Good Motors Gave Me Hell: A Story By A Former Employee by efilimu(m): 9:14am On Jul 29, 2017
Sapiosexuality:
This past Wednesday, I was contacted by a reader of my blog who goes by the name Olohuntoyin. He used to work for God Is Good Motors – one of Nigeria’s leading transport company. He asked that I feature his story on my blog to help put an end to the menace he withstood while working there and inform the owner of the company and the public. Below are the details of the stories he told me.

My name is Olohuntoyin. On the 18th July 2016, I was employed to work for the famous God Is Good Motors(GIGM) as an Innovative and Marketing Partner, Customer Service Representative and a Ticketer. I was a living willing tool and did everything to the best of my ability and the company’s operational standard. The experience I had left me mentally broken, physically broken and my health deteriorated. My salaries came late, my contract was not respected, my body was used for insult practise as I was stretched beyond the limits of human adaptation. I strongly believe the owner of the organisation wants the good and progress of his staff and organization but the persons in whose hands he placed the company are only interested in their pockets and ruining the company. The sooner he realises that, the better. GIGM is a legacy and if he continues to be in slumber, that legacy might crumble. This oppression is still going on and if not checked will ruin his company on the long run.

On the appointment letter we were given, it was stated that we will work for 6 months after which we would be confirmed and I believed that after confirmation our salary would increase. Salary for a start was forty-five thousand Naira per month. Some persons employed within the same period in the same role were paid fifty thousand Naira. While the junior staff collect between 45-50 thousand Naira, the backend staff receive about 150, 000-700,000 Naira depending on the post. I was a junior staff. Work resumes by 5am in all terminals except mine, 6am. There is normally a shift. All groups in a terminal resumes by 5am but group A closes by 1pm while group group A closes by 1pm while group B stays till 5pm. The next day, it will be the turn of group B to close by 1pm. No one would have complained if they had not treated us like slaves. There were threats from every angle. Drivers were extorted. The six(6) months probation is specific to my branch, though, there are others like us too that are not confirmed till now.

We agreed to the salary with hope that after our probationary period, we would be confirmed and the salary increased. But they didn’t fulfill it. I worked for 10 months before getting sacked. Some of my colleagues still work there and the story has not changed. They’ve clocked a year and 10 days and yet to be confirmed. The basic salary at GIGM is 6,750 Naira according to what I have on my employment letter. Salaries have no definite date. For an instance, if the first day (1st) of a new month falls on a Saturday and it happens that we didn’t get our salary before the end of the previous month, the salary won’t come till Monday (3rd)of the new month. You work for 6 days a week with 1 day off. And during any public holiday, no staff working at a terminal is allowed a holiday. During Christmas, the Christians must go to work. During Sallah, the Muslims must go to work except the backend staff. They enjoy all forms of holidays, they have their weekends too. Yet you are always threatened over any small mistake. They even boast that there is no work out there and often threaten us with words “You are gone “. Like Politics, everyone seek out to know a superior that is higher than the others to help them battle conspiracies from staff in the same company. The thing is, once your colleagues hate you, they will do anything to make you go.

GIGM is packaged outside but inside, it’s very disorganised and unhealthy. Staff are always against each other. Once they see you as a threat, they try to make you go. When we started, it was a little bit difficult for us to come to work and get things going. So the HR begged two of us (I and one of my colleague who was sacked before I got sacked too) to be sleeping at the office. So, before our other colleagues come to work the next day, we would have prepared everything for them. Trust me, we slept at the office for 7 months. Seven months on iron chairs in a room with just a fan and lightbulb. We fell sick on so many occasions and our body ached during work hours. We constantly received greetings from different platoons of mosquitoes and had restless sleepless nights. The Two Thousand Naira(2000)/week agreed as condition for sleeping over was paid only once. If we fall ill, we are given a maximum of seven(7) days after which our meager salaries are deducted for each day’s absence. No matter the severity of your illness, once your work there, 7 days is the maximum you’d be given. Though pregnant women do get three months before putting to bed. Besides that, no care was shown to our welfare. No empathy was shown us for the pains and sicknesses our sacrifices got us. The 2000 Naira weekly allowance we were promised for sleeping over was only paid just once in 7 months. The general weekly allowance entitled to all staff irrespective of whether they sleep at the terminal/office or not was respected though.

Before I was sacked, a lot of things happened. The head office normally have someone in each terminal that serves as their eyes. That person always tells them whatever is going on. I was accused of doing something bad but I knew I never did anything wrong. The case wasn’t investigated, I wasn’t sent a query but the HR (who was also suspended indefinitely recently – Karma) said I attested to the case that I was guilty. Asked him to show me a screenshot of where I did, till date, nothing. The head office sent a souvenir to be distributed to customers. The souvenirs were in the custody of the Customer Service Representative and she locked it up somewhere. She alone had the key. But the manager discovered that she didn’t distribute them the way she was supposed to, so he asked her to come for audit. During the audit, she said she’s finished distributing all. I don’t know what happened, one day, she said all the remaining souvenirs got missing and that she’s going to take it up. She sent a mail to the head office and accused me and the guy that normally make their work easy for them of stealing it. Why? Because we were the ones that always sleep at the office. That was where the travails started. Imagine! After she said she have finished distributing all souvenirs. How can something you finished distributing get stolen again? This was an office where things worth more than 15 million Naira were kept and none has ever gone missing. Talk more a souvenir. A Notepad. The HR sent a query and in the query he accused us directly of stealing it. What the HR said afterwards shocked us. He said: “don’t think because you are sleeping in the office, you are doing the company a favour”. Meanwhile, he begged us when we started sleeping there for which we were to be paid the 2000 Naira weekly allowance. Though he gave a directive for us to be paid for sleeping every week, it was flaunted by the powers in control. We complained but he did nothing about it. Still, we weren’t deterred. We continued sleeping.

After the souvenir saga, we were stopped from sleeping at the office. A week after that happened, my colleague that we do sleep together at the office got sacked over allegations of fraud. He had explanations for everything but all the queries that were sent to him were hijacked. He was accused of fraud. He had explanations for everything. And a query was sent for him to respond but the manager and his third in command replied the query instead of leaving it for the accused to reply himself. How do you respond to a query that wasn’t meant for you? Same thing happened to me. I was accused too and my query was hijacked. In fact, the HR wasn’t sure if I was the one that replied the query or not. But I didn’t see any query nor replied to any. Someone else saw a query meant for me and replied it and I was sacked. There was only one suspect. The third in command. We have the manager (first in command), operations 1 (second in command and at the same time, the colleague of mine that got sacked before me) and operations support (third in command). The painful thing was that, this third in command was there when the accusations were made but he didn’t say anything. This third in command always collects tips from drivers (we call them captain) anytime their bus are announced. When these captains complained to the manager and other superiors, they accused the wrong person. They accused the second in command, my colleague, who was eventually sacked for fraud.

I was sacked for something I knew nothing about. A query I didn’t respond to. The six(6) months probation and confirmation they promised us never happened. They gave me hell. I slept on metal chairs that broke my back each night and made my torturous morning more devastating. I was denied a weekly 2000 Naira allowance for the seven months I slept on metal chairs. I was infested with malaria and other illnesses from the Mosquito bites, restlessness and stress my body passed through. I was insulted to a level that striped my identity as a human being. I was threatened at the slightest mistake and reminded of graduates who are jobless on every occasion. What I wrote here is just an appetizer. My colleagues are still there passing through different degrees of torture. Afraid of what quitting the Job will bring. I want the world to know the bad practice in such organisations. There are many others but this is just one of them. These organisations are fond of preaching the gospel that there is no job out there just so you could be tied down to them. I want the CEO/MD to look into this if he doesn’t want the crash of his company. I am not asking to be paid the allowances denied me. I am simply asking that this be looked into.

hmm thats the question bro. Where will marvel's storyline go fr0m phase 4 upwards? I feel like they should just end avengers after part 4. Focus on the defenders. Infinity war would be box office smashing if marvel is ready to go past their formula. Kill off thor, loki, cripple black widow, kill off ir0n man, paralyse captain rogers, kill hawkeye, gamora, rocket racoon, and many others. Make the film have an impact on the Mcu. End the avengers story for once. You'd be shocked if the film doesn't win multiple academy awards if they do this. But Disney wouldn't do that. You'd be surprised if at the end of infinity war the only character they'd end up killing off is 'Uncle Ben'.

TV/MoviesOther Time Period TV Series Similar To Game Of Thrones by efilimu(op): 5:59pm On Jul 24, 2017
HBO fantasy drama Game of Thrones debuted last Sunday to a record-breaking 16.1 million viewers in its

first episode “Dragonstone”. Arguably, judging by the viewership, online interest and media coverage,

Game of Thrones is the biggest thing on television right now. Currently in its penultimate season, ratings

are waxing strong and audiences eager to see who’ll finally sit on the iron throne. Winter has never been

this strong than now.

But I did use the word penultimate season (second before the last), meaning that the series will

finally end after one more season and t.v aficionados will need something to turn their attention to.

But before I continue, I’d like to say, Game of Thrones is a unique series blending drama, politics,

magic, fantasy into a whole full package. It is unique. There is nothing like it right now in terms of

its genre-blending property.

Notwithstanding, I’m going to recommend other series on t.v right now that are similar to Game of Thrones in terms

of the time period. That is, if you’re into swords, sandals, royalty and all that medieval stuff.

Then, you should start checking out these series once GOT is done. Who knows what might pick up your

interest.

TV/MoviesRe: FG Vs Nigerian Artistes Saga; My Opinion - By Pediakauthor by efilimu(m): 12:43pm On Jul 20, 2017
PediakAuthor:
I support FG for banning the production of music videos and movies abroad for so many reasons, though Nigeria is not yet prepared and matured to take such a very huge decision right now, considering the several pros and cons of the policy.

Advantageously, the implementation of this policy will conserve the much needed foreign exchange in Nigeria in an attempt to strengthen the presently devalued Naira.

Furthermore, employment opportunities will be generated for local media producers in Nigeria, and all the cadres of labour, be it skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled will benefit.

Thirdly, promotion of Nigeria's culture, tourism and arts will be facilitated in an attempt to showcase the hidden treasure of Nigeria to the outside world.

Ultimately, the policy will advantageously pave way for upcoming artistes to secure a competitive edge in the Nigeria's entertainment industry. As it is now, I mean in Nigeria of today, it is very difficult for any upcoming artiste to "blow" without an outlandish/exotic music video. Days of MP3/Radio promo and marketing, or local music video is gone. That's the fact!

Socially, the Nigerian Government will be able to control some explicit (18+) video contents if they are produced in Nigeria. The Nigerian Kids shouldn't be exposed to certain media contents. As it is right now, the Nigerian government doesn't have the control over most of all the explicit videos since they were produced abroad and will also later be aired on the Nigerian TV. Does it make sensehuh We all witnessed some non-Nigerian contents being produced on live TV in the just-concluded Big Brother Naija; of which those contents were later streamed for Nigerians' consumption with the FG having no power to bring them down. It was an ugly experience in Nigeria, most especially the coco factor!!! If such contents were produced in Nigeria, believe me, the FG will stop it by all means!

For fun; In my own understanding, the inception of this saga surfaced during the just-concluded Big Brother Naija TV show that took place in South Africa. In my own perspective; that show was not real, whyhuh How will Multichoice camp Nigerians for several months without power outagehuh Abeg! "Up Nepa" is part of our logo in Naija here. Make the reality show real with naija seasonings. Lolzz. Just for fun tho!

Nevertheless, we all understand the rate at which the world is developing in terms of entertainment, people need consume quality contents these days, nothing less and nothing more. Nigerian artistes now have the competitive edge in the international market due to their outlandish exposures in media productions. Infact, some Naija artistes are now endorsed as brand ambassadors for some multinational companies, and so many other advantages being gained by Nigerian artistes due to their outlandish exposures via their classy and quality music videos being produced abroad.
All these foreign shows, and international endorsements have recently increased Nigeria's GNP - Gross National Product and have also contributed to international relation, economic and social development.

Also, most Disc Jockeys seldom play foreign musics in parties as it was in the previous decades of plantation boyz. These days, na Naija jamz 95%; this is due to the fact that Nigeria artistes have already secured the competitive edge over most of all the foreign artistes with respect to the quality and outlandish music videos and musica contents.

On the other way around, the FG should make Nigeria conducive for quality production of the various media contents. There is also an urgent need for good infrastructure and social amenities; good roads, security, modern health facilities and others should be provided in order to make the Nigerian environment conducive for such business. Let the FG put these things in place.

Most importantly; FG should lead by example by patronizing Nigeria's local content products in all facets. I might not be going into details right now. It's better to drop the pen here.

Conclusively, after considering the pros and cons of this proposed policy, its implementation is for Nigerians' advantage, the FG only needs to put certain things in place for its full-flowering.

Thanks.

TV/MoviesFilm And Music Production Should Be Done Locally, Here's Why! by efilimu(op): 9:40am On Jul 20, 2017
Irate reactions have been flying left, right and center following the Minister of Information Lai Mohammed's visit to the copyright society of

Nigeria (COSON) last Saturday. There, he confirmed that pretty soon music/movie production will be banned from going abroad and must be

produced locally.

However, this hasn't gone down well with Nigerians judging by the comments on news outlets and websites one of which includes back and forth

banter with a popular Nigerian singer. Many are citing that even in advanced countries, movie/music production are taken outside the country, so

why should ours be different.

After all, the cost of production overseas is significantly higher than here at home. Producers already know this and are sure of the profit margin

before taking any film/music production outside. How is it the government's business? Have they provided an enabling environment for film/music

stakeholders to thrive?  Understandably so, this a line of thought going on in the mind of some Nigerians.

To be quite candid, there are many arguments that can be made for taking a movie/music production out of the country.

Some of which are:
1. Scenic attraction of international locations
2. The need to reach international audiences
3. Tax breaks from the foreign government
4. Access to top notch shooting equipment/crew
5. More control over filming locations
6. And so many more

Nonetheless, I'm going to take sides with the honorable minister and give reasons of why I support him on this one.

1. It improves the local economy:

Think about it, taking movies/music production improves the economy of the foreign country where it is put together, then imagine what it'll do to

improve the finances of the local business people. The food used to feed the cast, the hotels used for actors accommodation and the

houses/villages/shops that will be used as locations are few examples of how local production of entertainment will improve our economy.

2. Provision of jobs for local talent:

Producing entertainment locally means there'll be provision of more jobs for the indigenous people and given the unemployment situation in

Nigeria, this will go a long way in curbing youth joblessness: especially in the casting of extras and upcoming actors.

3. Leads to creation of more film/music settings:

This is a major reason why film/music producers go abroad: to be able to shoot in beautiful locales worldwide and increase the quality of content

output. Notwithstanding, a ban on overseas production will result in ingenuity of our producers who will try as much as possible to create those

scenic locations found abroad.

4. Production of Nigerian centric content:

Admittedly, one syndrome Nollywood has been suffering over the past few years is trying to copy ideas that have been overused in Hollywood

and Bollywood. Examples: film titles, plot, story lines etc. Film/Music assembled, packaged and sold to Nigerian audiences will force us to go back

to our roots and come up with stuff that is more original.  More Nigerian!

5. In turn Nigeria becomes the go to place for film/music production:

Yes, that is provided we are able to develop our own first by implementing the steps above. Patronizing our resources and creating our own

unique content. That way, we become the top destination for entertainers abroad to come produce their own content. We form our own brand!

It doesn't go without saying that stakeholders have voiced their opinions known with respect to the minister's words (and in most cases not in

support), but I'm trying to tackle the issue from a different perspective and I hope you see it just the way I do.
