In an effort to crack down on tax evasion and pull the nation out of a recession, Romania has decided to tax its witches. Romanian witches are not pleased and said they will respond by doing what they do best: casting a spell on the president and government.

The government's new tax law came into effect on Jan. 1 and will target witches as well as astrologers and fortune tellers. They will now be included in the labor code, treated like any self-employed person and expected to pay 16 percent income tax and contribute to state health and pension programs, the AP reports.

Witches in Romania said they will go to the southern plains and Danube River Thursday and cast spells to cause evil to befall government officials.

"This law is foolish. What is there to tax, when we hardly earn anything?" a witch named Alisia told the AP. "The lawmakers don't look at themselves, at how much they make, their tricks; they steal and they come to us asking us to put spells on their enemies."

Witches typically earn between $7 and $10 a consultation.

Superstition has been part of Romanian culture for centuries and still holds power over many in the country. Politicians have recently blamed witches for their losses. Former President Mircea Geoana claimed that a bearded mystic's spell cost him the election a year ago.

Romania remains a "fertile breeding ground" for superstitions, psychologist Aurora Liiceanu told the Daily Telegraph.

"This society is inclined to the irrational – it is a culture of superstitious people," she said. "Luck has a great role here, it is a force. Luck and destiny."

Later, he clarified, "Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn't mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all."

This will be the third marriage for Hefner. In 2009 he filed for divorce from his second wife, former Playmate Kimberly Conrad, after the two separated in 1998. He was previously married to Mildred Williams; their marriage ended in divorced in 1959.

'Million Dollar Money Drop' Contestants Get Penalized for a 'Wrong' Answer That Turned out to Be Right

"Think 'Deal Or No Deal' Is Too Brainy?" read Linda Holmes's headline Monday at NPR.org's Monkey See blog. "Try Fox's 'Million Dollar Money Drop.'" Now it seems the show's contestants might be quite a bit brainier than its producers.

In the "Drop" premiere episode Monday night, contestants Gabe Okoye and Brittany May decided to try their luck in the category "Inventions." Host Kevin Pollak asked them which product was first sold: the Macintosh computer, the Sony Walkman, or 3M's Post-It Notes. Okoye was confident that the answer was Post-Its. But was it?




According to the answer supplied to Pollak, Okoye was wrong (as, by extension, was the much more hesitant May). But late yesterday afternoon, Richard Lawson of Gawker.com expressed his doubts. Post-Its first started trickling into the marketplace as early as 1977 — so, earlier than the Sony Walkman, which debuted in 1979 (and not, as Okoye guesses on the show, in "the '90s".

Lawson has updated his original post with comment from personnel attached to the show: An unnamed rep for Fox says that producers contacted 3M to fact-check the question, and were told that Post-Its date from 1980, when they were first sold nationally. The phrasing of the question did not make the distinction of how widely available the products were, and it's reasonable for the show's producers to write their questions based on information supplied by the Post-It manufacturer.

With regard to the controversy, Jeff Apploff, the executive producer of "Million Dollar Money Drop," is standing firm, issuing this statement to Gawker today: "The integrity of the questions and answers on our show are our No. 1 priority. In this case, our research team spoke directly with 3M, and they confirmed that although they had given out free samples in test markets in 1977 and 1978, it wasn't until 1980 that Post-Its were sold in stores. Million Dollar Money Drop stands behind the answer that was revealed on the show." Unfortunate news for Okoye and May — but, given the product in question, it's fitting that the show should stick to its original answer.

It shows that our society is still very biased towards women. 

If this is being done to encourage abstinence due to HIV awareness, then what about HIV positive virgins?  What about the virgins performing MouthAction? 
There is nothing wrong with virginity and virgins are not ugly.  But virginity and the choice of not being virgins should be kept private and shouldn't be geared towards girls only.
