Minister of Education Adamu Adamu Olaleye Aluko The authorities of the Federal Ministry of Education have met with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria to fashion out modalities for the take-off of the nationwide school radio and television broadcast as a result of the closure of schools due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The ministry told our correspondent on Friday that the school teaching classes on air would follow a timetable which was already being worked on as well as the possibility of writing an examination after taking the lessons. Our correspondent learnt that the school broadcast classes could commence by May if the modalities for getting operational licences and the purchase of transmitters were tidied up by the education ministry, the FRCN, the Nigerian Television Authority and the National Broadcasting Commission in April. The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, had stated on Tuesday during the daily COVID-19 Presidential Task Force briefing in Abuja, that the Federal Government was going to commence the basic primary school classes on the national media to enable pupils learn during the COVID-19 pandemic break. Adamu had said the government planned to sustain the audio-visual classes, even after the coronavirus pandemic break. Our correspondent learnt on Friday that the minister had met with the FRCN authorities and the issuance of licence by the NBC was also underway. The Director of Press at the ministry, Mr Ben Goong, said in an exclusive interview that a timetable would be drafted as well as the possibility of writing an examination after the nationwide audio-visual classes. Goong said, “We are taking the next step between Friday and Tuesday. There will be a radio component and a television component. We plan to create a different network on the FRCN so that we don’t break into the established listening schedules. “The broadcast will run from morning to night, covering all subjects such as Mathematics and English. We will segment the programmes into classes. What we plan is to bring the best hands from our schools to take the subjects. We will use the best in specific subjects. The issue of inability to deliver well will not arise. “Two, the broadcast will be uniform. What is being taught in Jigawa, Sokoto will be watched in Lagos. There will be series of subjects in a day for different classes. There will be nothing like, our teachers didn’t come to school today. “When it is time for exams, you register in the centre nearest to you and you write your exams, class by class. It will be impossible with these broadcasts for children to still be regarded as out-of-school children. We are likely to bring the request letter formally from the ministry in the coming week to FRCN. Due process must be followed.” The ministry’s spokesman noted that the broadcasts would eradicate the problem of rising out-of-school children currently put at about 10.2million as well as bridge the gap that was created due to the closure of schools during the pandemic.

Liverpool defender, Van Dijk has come under severe criticism over a joke he made about Cristiano Ronaldo. Netherland and Liverpool defender, Van Dijk has been called out by Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister over a joke he made recently. Taking to her Instagram page, Ronaldo’s sister condemned Dijk. A reporter had asked Van Dijk, “Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be here tonight, so that’s already one less rival to care about.” And he answered, “Was Cristiano Ronaldo really a rival?” Katia, the sister of Ronaldo, responded, “I think there are people living completely frustrated !!! And unrealistic… Such humility!””It is well known that Ronaldo will not win the Ballon d’Or today despite having won important collective titles… but this is another conversation and that up ahead we will se where the truth about football will come!!!”Now, dear Virgil, Cristiano Ronaldo has done what you did and gone where yo went a thousand times. Ronaldo has won the EPL trophy 3 consecutive times, but you and your Liverpool are yet to touch it. “Cristiano Ronaldo was even the best player and best scorer in EPL, Virgil. By th way, I was even younger than you. Then, dear Virgil, Cristiano Ronaldo went to othe places and became the greatest player in the history of those clubs.“Tell you some more Virgil? Ronaldo has even beat you in the UCL Final. Ballon d’Or? Ronaldo’s already got 5. And then, Ronaldo and his Portugal crushed you “Oranje” this summer. Was it hard to take, Virgil? Sorry about that. And, dear Virgil, In one of the least successful times of his career, Cristiano Ronaldo has won even more title than you. Awesome, isn’t it?“Now Virgil, let’s talk when you win titles that really count. When you have a handful of them, the really important ones, you might be able to reach the same level as Cristiano. Or as the saying goes in Portugal, it grows and appears!“For me, Cristiano, you are and you will always be the best player in the world!!!”

OFFICIAL | Manchester
United vs . Chelsea on the
opening weekend of the
Premier League Season
|
fake news |
Liverpool's Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Pierre-
Emerick Aubameyang both scored twice on the
final Sunday to share the Premier League's
Golden Boot award for top scorer with last
season's winner Mohamed Salah.
- Usher: Mane an 8/10 after leading relentless
Liverpool to bittersweet win
- Ogden: Epic title race decided by millimetres
- When are next season's Premier League
fixtures revealed?
The achievement of the three African strikers
left Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp especially
proud as he has played such an important part in
the development of the trio's careers.
They all ended on 22 goals for the league
campaign after Senegalese forward Mane scored
twice in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Wolverhampton
Wanderers to join his Egyptian teammate Salah.
Arsenal's Gabonese forward Aubameyang
followed his midweek Europa League semifinal
hat trick in Valencia with a second-half double
that helped the Gunners to a 3-1 win at Burnley.
Though Mane and Salah's 44 goals proved in
vain for Klopp as his side lost out on the league
title to Manchester City, who won 4-1 at Brighton
& Hove Albion, he had reason to smile.
"Auba too?" Klopp said, on learning that
Aubameyang, his former signing at Borussia
Dortmund, shared the accolade.
"Do they have three boots? It is good. They are
all my players."
The 22-goal winning mark was the lowest since
the 2010-11 season when Manchester United's
Dimitar Berbatov and Manchester City's Carlos
Tevez shared the Golden Boot with 20 goals
apiece.
Aubameyang was delighted over the trio's
African connection, and said: "I share this trophy
with two other guys I like, great players and
African. We are representing Africa, that's cool."
- Ogden: Epic title race decided by millimetres
- When are next season's Premier League
fixtures revealed?
Salah, who had scored 32 goals last season, was
not as prolific this term as in his record-breaking
2017-18 campaign but both he and Mane
finished a goal ahead of champions Manchester
City's top marksman Sergio Aguero.
Of course, the Argentine, who matched Thierry
Henry in scoring 20 or more goals in five straight
seasons in the Premier League era, probably
netted the most crucial goal with his equaliser
at Brighton that set City on course for the title. |
The end of the Premier League season is upon
us, and barring something extraordinary with the
Champions League places, there is just one
meaningful thing left to decide. And boy, is it
meaningful: Manchester City go into their trip to
Brighton a point ahead of Liverpool, who face
Wolves at home, therefore knowing that a victory
will guarantee the retention of the title.
These two sides have more or less been playing
a different sport than the rest of the division this
season and will finish at least 20 points ahead of
their nearest challengers. So let's look at how
their campaigns compare going into the final
day.
Goals, goals, goals
Let's start with the basics: Manchester City have
91, Liverpool 87. Mohamed Salah is the biggest
proportionate contributor, his 22 strikes
representing around 25 percent of Liverpool's
league total, but Sergio Aguero and Raheem
Sterling are just behind him: they have 20 and
17, respectively, chipping in 41 percent of City's
tally between them.
City like to be on the front foot, too: They've
scored the first goal in a whopping 83 percent of
their games, with Liverpool trailing (just 68
percent) and the rest of the division in the dust.
However, Liverpool is your team if you want late
drama: 24 of their goals have come after the
75th minute of games, the most in the division
by a distance. (Chelsea are next with 19, while
City have 13.)
Both sides are fond of an old-fashioned
thumping, too: They've each won by four or
more goals on six occasions and have only failed
to score four times between them, two of which
are accounted for by the 0-0 draw at Anfield in
October.
If at first you don't succeed, shoot
again
It goes without saying that these two sides have
scored the most goals in the Premier League
this season, but it's also a lot to do with their
overall style of play. City have taken 662 shots
for those goals, but Liverpool's total is exactly
100 fewer, meaning they score once in roughly
every six attempts as opposed to City's once
every seven.
Analytic-phobes look away now, but City are
more or less matching their expected goals (xG)
projection, which is 91.5, while Liverpool are
outperforming it: Their xG is 77.8.
Stingy at the back
Both teams have conceded an impressively
miserly 22 goals; if both teams keep it tight on
Sunday, it'll put them level for third in the
Premier League's all-time best defences,
alongside Manchester United in 2007-08 and
Chelsea in 2005-06, and behind the 17 that
Arsenal conceded in 1999 (when they finished
second) and Jose Mourinho's first season at
Chelsea in 2005, which saw them let in a
remarkable 15.
Furthermore, both sides are outperforming their
xG against, which stands at 25.14 for City and
28.26 for Liverpool. It's not just for their kicking
and play out from the back that Ederson and
Allison are considered two of the best
goalkeepers in the world.
Of course, money talks
It's a slight curiosity that both teams spent north
of £50 million on players last summer who have
been relatively peripheral, with Naby Keita and
Riyad Mahrez combining for just 29 league starts
between them.
The two teams' most frequently used first XIs
cost plenty, but it's no surprise that City's cost
more. With the caveat that reported transfer
fees are often tough to be 100 percent accurate,
City assembled theirs for a total of £422.4
million, while Liverpool's set them back £289.8
million, nearly half of which -- £141.8 million --
went on Alisson and Virgil van Dijk, also featuring
two free transfers (Joel Matip and James
Milner), an academy product (Trent Alexander-
Arnold) and two players purchased from
relegated sides (Andrew Robertson and
Georginio Wijnaldum).
Second place is the first loser?
With the clubs on 95 and 94 points, respectively,
whoever finishes second will have the biggest
points total for any runner-up in English top-flight
history. The Manchester United side that got 89
points but lost the title on goal difference to City
in 2011-12 currently holds the Premier League
record, just ahead of the 86 Liverpool and
Tottenham got when finishing second in 2009
and 2017. To delve into the archives, the only
real comparable figures -- when adjusted for a
38-game season with three points for a win --
are Middlesbrough, with 83 in 1902, and Leeds
United, with 82 in 1971.
Real Madrid still hold the record for the top five
leagues in Europe, when Manuel Pellegrini's side
finished on 96 points but still finished behind
Barcelona (99) in 2009. Another current Premier
League manager, Maurizio Sarri, guided Napoli to
91 points last season but trailed Juventus.
Is there still some drama ahead?
It sounds wild, but there could be a twist ahead.
The two sides could finish level if City lose to
Brighton and Liverpool draw with Wolves. Even
then, City would probably still win the title on
goal difference, but consider this: If it's a 4-4
draw at Anfield and City lose 4-0, the teams
would finish on the same points, the same goal
difference, the same goals scored and the same
goals conceded. Thus, a single game playoff
would be required to decide the champions.
It's unlikely, to say the least -- the odds on both
of those happening are 63,000-1 -- but what a
thing it would be... |
Ander Herrera has confirmed he will leave
Manchester United at the end of the season
when his contract expires.
Sources have told ESPN FC that Paris Saint-
Germain, Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan and
Barcelona are among the clubs interested in
signing the midfielder as a free agent in the
summer, with Ligue 1 club PSG the most
strongly linked.
Spain international Herrera, 29, spent five years
at Old Trafford after signing from Athletic Bilbao
in 2014. He helped the club win the Europa
League, FA Cup and League Cup and claimed
the club's Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year
award in the 2016-17 season.
"There is red in my heart, I knew it from the first
time I played here and in the moment I started to
wear it," Herrera said in the video message
posted on United's Twitter account. He made
189 appearances for United in all competitions
and scored 20 goals.
- Mitten: Valencia exit reminds United fans of

Europe?
"A club with thousands of fans who respect and
remember all the players who give everything. I
felt special when I heard my name chanted. I felt
proud when the fans decided I was part of this
incredible history.
"Every time I represented this club, in every
game, in wins and losses, even when I couldn't
help from the grass, I understood what this club
means.
"I am going to remember each of the almost 200
matches that I have played with this jersey.
Because playing for the greatest club in England,
has been a true honour. Thanks for these five
amazing years."
Herrera's fellow Spanish midfielder Juan Mata is
also out of contract at Manchester United at the
end of the season, and talks are ongoing with
the 30-year-old over a new deal.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed
last month that Antonio Valencia will also leave
the club this summer. |
LUIS SUAREZ could be facing months on the
sidelines after Barcelona confirmed he is to have
surgery on his right knee.
The 32-year-old has chipped in with 25 goals and
13 assists in 39 games this season, but he will
now undergo the knife as he looks to be fit for
the start of next term.
Barca said in an official statement: "Luis Suarez
has an medial meniscus injury in his right knee
and surgeon Dr.Cugat will perform arthroscopic
surgery on the Uruguayan under the supervision
of the club's medical staff.
"The outcome of the process and an estimate of
how long the striker will be out will be
announced following the surgery."
It's unclear whether Suarez picked up the injury
during the 4-0 loss against Liverpool on Tuesday
as the Blaugrana crashed out of the Champions
League.
The former Reds fan favourite played the whole
match at Anfield, but was booed on his return to
Merseyside as he collided with Andy Robertson -
forcing the Scotsman to go off at half-time.
With Barca having already wrapped up the La
Liga title, Ernesto Valverde's side may have been
delaying Suarez to have surgery in the event of if
they made the final on June 1. |
LONDON -- Eden Hazard was shot, knackered,
spent. The Europa League is not his stage, not
really; everybody knows that and it is one reason
why, as Chelsea plugged along through their
previous 15 outings in the competition, he had
only been wheeled out for 228 minutes in total.
Here he had dragged himself through an entire
two hours, those whirring legs slowing up to
eventually resemble paddles sludging their way
through mud. The juice had run out; the ideas
had really too. Eintracht Frankfurt had brought
this tie to a knife edge and, with it, had put
Hazard's grand finale on the line.
Stamford Bridge is Hazard's stage. It has been
for seven years now, no matter what the
competition. Hazard's fire has raged during that
time, ever so occasionally dying down to merely
a flicker. He has slalomed his way to titles;
bewitched his way to individual awards; carried
dying teams on his shoulders; jinked into the
club's pantheon of greats to such an extent that
the drawn-out, opaque departure process he has
undergone this season has drawn barely a
murmur of disapproval from the stands.
But Hazard had never faced a situation like this.
He had watched Cesar Azpilicueta miss in the
shootout and give Eintracht one foot on the
final. He had then seen Kepa Arrizabalaga, wise
to Martin Hinteregger's attempt to drill the ball
down the middle, stand firm and wedge it
between his legs. He knew his time was coming
when Goncalo Paciencia, his stuttering run-up
postage stamped with inevitability, let Kepa save
again. Now, he had his chance: one last shot for
one last final; one last shot in front of the crowd
that he adores and who have, with no need for
encouragement, reciprocated that in bundles;
one last moment of high drama to bookend the
lightning bolts of sheer magic.
- Player ratings: Kepa's shootout saves make
him Chelsea's UEL hero
Hazard did not miss. Nobody seriously thought
he would; that he would score was probably the
nearest thing to a certainty on a wild, snarling
night that swung this way and that. He sent
Kevin Trapp the wrong way, perhaps grateful for
the 10 minutes he had been given to clear his
mind since the end of extra time. It was a crisp,
lucid finish; they usually are, and as most of his
teammates flocked to mob Kepa, Hazard ran
slightly behind, eyes trained on the Shed End's
mass of part-relieved, part-delirious limbs.
"I always take my responsibility," Hazard said
afterward. His responsibility was to score,
whether or not this was his last kick of a ball at
Stamford Bridge; but if he is indeed to leave
Chelsea this summer, there is something else at
play too. He has helped them to hold their nerve
domestically -- to a sounder degree than their
rivals, in any case -- and quality for next season's
Champions League. If he can send himself off
with a second Europa League title, beating
Arsenal in Baku and adding to the trophy won in
2012-13, then perhaps he can leave in the
knowledge that a fractured club is finally
beginning to heal.
Because, make no mistake, Chelsea's home is a
complex, troubled place.
Five minutes before the end of normal time,
Maurizio Sarri replaced Ruben Loftus-Cheek --
the scorer of their first-half opener but a
diminishing influence as Eintracht clawed their
way back into the tie -- with the fresher legs of
Ross Barkley. Ordinarily, it should not have been
a controversial move, but the disdain for Sarri,
palpable since the winter, needed little excuse to
rear its head even on what was, whether they
liked it or not, Chelsea's biggest game of the
season. The boos rang out from all four sides; it
was far removed from the expectant, supportive
environment that might be expected when things
were going to the wire against excellent
opponents, but nothing about this season in west
London has fitted preconceived notions.
Everything feels on thin ice here. Sarri has
steered them to a respectable finish and might
well top that with a European trophy, but his
philosophy, his preference for method over
indignant, us-against-the-world belligerence,
simply does not seem to fit. When Eintracht's
brilliant young striker Luka Jovic equalised after
half-time, the tension was that of a crowd
waiting to turn.
"Over the 120 minutes, we were the better team
and had the better chances," the Eintracht
coach Adi Hutter claimed. He was probably
right: The substitute Sebastien Haller saw two
extra-time efforts cleared off the line; and from
beginning to end, it was only the visiting
supporters -- surely the loudest, most inventive
bunch heard at any top-level match in England
this year -- who seemed energised to offer
unconditional support.
They and their vibrant team, which faces a
breakup comparable to that of Champions
League heroes Ajax, deserved more. But Chelsea
themselves might lose a huge part of their
modern identity come August. The chances of
seeing anyone capable of such sustained
brilliance as Hazard -- whose name was greeted
with bellows of approval before kickoff as a flag
bearing his image was passed along the
Matthew Harding Stand -- gracing this turf in the
foreseeable future are remote.
At least they could wring out every last drop
here. It was Hazard who set up Loftus-Cheek's
goal before, by his exacting standards, failing to
match perspiration with end product. That was
before he settled the issue, threw his shirt to the
crowd and disappeared down the tunnel for what
was surely the final time.
"In my mind, I don't know yet," he said,
inscrutable as ever, when asked about his future.
"If it is my last game [against Arsenal], I will try
to do everything."
One last flourish could yet fix Chelsea and Sarri.
But after delivering so poetically here, you
wonder what more he could possibly do. |
Abfinest007:yes we are all happy although am a United fan ooo but am happy for Liverpool |
Georginio Wijnaldum and Divock Origi each
scored twice as Liverpool overcame a three-goal
deficit to defeat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in
the second leg of the Champions League
semifinals.
The remarkable win ensured Liverpool's second
straight trip to the final on their quest for their
sixth trophy in Europe's premier club competition
-- the first English club to do so since
Manchester United in 2008-09.
Barcelona exit the Champions League semis in
the same heartbreaking fashion as last year's
quarterfinal loss to Roma -- blowing a three-goal
advantage after an initial home victory.
With Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah
sidelined with injuries, Origi made the most of
his start as the Belgian tucked in a goal in the
seventh minute after Marc-Andre ter Stegen
initally saved Jordan Henderson's effort.
Barcelona quickly settled in and had several
chances to equalise the match, if not for clutch
saves by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson. The
Brazilian made diving stops on Philippe
Coutinho's attempt and two shots by Lionel
Messi.
Alisson was called back into action in the waning
seconds of the first half when he thwarted Jordi
Alba's throughball from Messi on a counter
attack.
Liverpool then roared out the gate as half-time
substitute Wijnaldum scored successive goals in
the 54th and 56th minute to level the aggregate.
Liverpool then grabbed an extraordinary fourth
goal with a quickly-taken corner from Trent
Alexander-Arnold, catching the Barca defence
asleep with a low ball that was turned in at the
near post by Origi.
Liverpool will play the winner of Wednesday's
other semifinal between Ajax Amsterdam and
Tottenham Hotspur with the Dutch side leading
1-0 from the first-leg in London.
