But now....I am becoming a Barrister.

Supporters of former Senate Majority leader Mohammed Ali Ndume have stormed the National Assembly to protest his suspension by the upper house of legislature last week.
It was gathered that the supporters are presently blocking the main entrance of the Assembly complex.

They are carrying placards and banners and are calling for a change to the decision to suspend the Borno South representative.

Award winning Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson Okojie was sworn in as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on entertainment, arts and culture to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state on Monday, April 3.

Mercy Johnson Okojie who was appointed as the senior special assistant on entertainment, arts and culture to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state , has been sworn-in today.
She was sworn alongside 53 other people. Speaking during the inauguration of the 54 senior and special assistants, Governor Bello warned the appointees
not to see their appointments as an opportunity to enrich themselves.

He said his administration was determined to go after those who stole from the nation’s treasury in past years and recover such loot.
“ We must go after them to recover the looted fund for use of the common people in the state ,” Bello stated.

A “shrapnel filled-device’ has exploded on a train in the Metro Network in the city of St Petersburg, Russia leading to the death of 10 people while 50 others have been confirmed injured. According to reports on New Telegraph, the incident happened today, Monday, April 3 when President Vladimir Putin was supposed to be visiting the city.

The Punch is reporting that there was tension in Ile Ife on Sunday, April 2 after a policeman reportedly shot at youths protesting the arrests of some of their
colleagues and killed one.

According to the report, while there were various accounts of the incident, the victim identified as Bashiru Ayedun was said to be one of the youths that
resisted what they called unlawful arrests by the police.

Taye, a resident of the town, said trouble began a day earlier on Saturday, April 1 when a youth, who was alleged to be involved in Internet fraud successfully duped an unsuspecting victim of N8m and
decided to gather his friends to celebrate it.

Some policemen got wind of the development and went to meet the youths to allegedly collect their share of the loot. They however rejected N100,000
reportedly given to them as too small in the huge haul the fraudster made off 'his client’.
Taye said: “ The policemen rejected the N100,000 and wanted to arrest the boys but they resisted and this led to a fight. One of the youths was shot dead by a
policeman in the process and this led to a protest.”
Moho, another resident, giving a different report, said that the yahoo boy was dating a girl who jilted him for a policeman.
The policeman, with his colleagues, tried to arrest the ex-boyfriend but he resisted arrest and a clash resulted and the victim was said to have been shot
dead during the fracas.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Osun state Afolabi Babawale confirmed that one Basiru was shot dead and this resulted into a protest.

I never claimed to be a lawyer or law student and it would be preposterous for me to claim the wealth of knowledge a trained lawyer toiled to accumulate.

Nonetheless the courts and lawyers play the role of applying the laws made by the legislature who are representatives of the general public. These representatives have the duty to create and fashion laws to suit the needs and ends of the public that elected them. Legal training is neither a prerequisite for law making but common sense and a sense of responsibility.

That is why when I argued with you about wills, the legislature had in mind the effect of satisfying the wishes of a dying man and not create a legal web of forms and hurdles which could truncate the purpose the legislature had having regards to wills.

Lawyers draft the statutes/laws that a passed at national Assembly, in short, it is not ordinary lawyers, lawyers that have done masters and PhD in legal drafting... those law makers just debate it and pass it.

again, most Wills are not that of a "dying man" as u keep on saying. Will is made mostly when one is healthy and given to the lawyer to keep. if one makes a will while dying, it may not be invalid but most likely to be invalid due to state of his health and the likelihood that he is vulnerable to deception and pressure at that point in time.

Give that dime to a lawyer and it will save you a lot.

I like your example with doctors. Doctors need to be licensed because creates an authority to authenticates the professional and competent doctors which is a form of service to the general public. However for lawyers, of what use of the legal requirements of a will other than giving the true desires and wishes of the dying man. That's the true validity of a will everything else is secondary.

Except lawyers use the law to their ends to make business for themselves at the expense of the general public

Also why should laws particularly designate lawyers as the lawful drafters of an agreement? What is the benefit of such a weird law to the general public?

I am not talking about reflecting the testator's intentions, I am talking about meeting the legal requirements for such a will to be valid. not even all lawyers engage in succession practice talk more of ordinary men to know nity gritty of all they need to do to draft a valid will....who will he even give the Will to keep?
