Education / Re: Appointment Of Governing Boards Of Universities, Polytechnics by Ekititrends(f): 6:48am On May 21
Appointment of Governing Boards of Universities, Polytechnics and other high Institutions

The appointment of Governing Boards for Universities, Polytechnics, Federal Colleges of Education and others did not come as a surprise to Nigerians

lt should be recalled that the Federal Government of Tinubu dissolved the boards sometimes ago.

Thanks to the Academic Staff Unions of Universities, ASUU for giving the government an ultimatum, the list wouldn't have been released.

NNPP Ekiiti State Chairman, Chief Ade Ayeni said it is not the release of the list that gives the party concern, but rather the fact that Ekiti State was abysmally short changed.

There were 555 appointments into the institutions shared among 36 states of the Federation.

On equal sharing formula, a state is supposed to have at least 15 slots. Alas, Ekiti was allotted only 6 slots while Osun State for instance has about 21 or 22.

The following questions demand answers from the APC in Ekiti State.

1. Is Ekiti still an APC state?
2. What is the Minister,Dele Alake doing in Abuja if it is true that he is very close to Mr President.
3. Is it true that our Governor BAO slept off when the list was being compiled.
4. What were the members of House of Representatives and Senators, doing in Abuja then?
5. Could it be true that Ekiti slots were traded in Abuja as in the past?
The NNPP views the non cognisance given to Ekiti with just six names out of 555 as a slap on Ekiti people.

lt is our hope that the government will raise a high powered delegation to meet Mr President for a redress of this matter.

Posterity will not forgive the APC, President Bola Tinubu, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, House of Representatives members, Senators for the treatment meted to Ekiti State.

Ekiti has never had it this bad, not even when President Goodluck Jonathan of PDP was the President and Fayemi of APC was Governor.
Senator Ayo Arise of the PDP came home with Federal University - FUOYE out of Six established at the time.

NNPP therefore urge all well meaning and patriotic Ekiti Elders and Leaders to rise to the occasion, the injustice is too much to bear..

ln our opinion, our present members of House of Representatives, Senators, Minister and of course the Governor have demonstrated incompetence, non challance and can at best be described as sleeping Leaders who are only interested in their self serving ambitions and aggrandizement.

The State Chairman of the party therefore assures Ekiti people of New Nigeria People's Party readiness to take over governance from the ruling Party come 2026 to right these wrong amongst many that's already documented.

Much moreso that the PDP have sold out to the Apc in the State.

Fayose's endorsement is of no consequence.

Fayose is as irrelevant as the P in psychology and the K in knife.

Are you sure? If I may ask...who is the leader of the PDP in Ekiti state today?

Education / 50% Of Pupils In Enugu Cannot Read – SSG Onyia by Ekititrends(f): 10:42am On Jan 05
In a surprising disclosure, the incumbent Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, has revealed shocking facts that 50% of pupils in the state can neither read in English nor solve simple mathematics questions.

Prof. Chidiebere Onyia made this known while delivering a keynote address titled, “Smart Basic Education and the Future of Africa” at the quadrennial convention of the Old Boys Association of Union Secondary School, Awkunanaw, on Thursday in Enugu.

In his word;

“Our findings were shocking. After six years of primary school, 50 per cent of our children cannot read a single word in English and those who can read struggle with comprehension.

“50% of our children cannot solve simple subtraction challenges. What we found out in Enugu State is written large across our nation”.

“The World Bank, UNICEF, and UNESCO have defined this as ‘the Nigerian Learning Crisis’.

“On top of this, our children suffer a “Skills Gap” because existing modes of teaching do not equip children with scientific, technological, productive, and digital competences.”
