Religion / Re: Couple Whose Wedding Was Cancelled Over Pregnancy Weds In Another Church In Aba by Ekpekus(m): 3:11pm On Nov 29, 2023
Depsui:

This is nonsense. How does traditional marriage supercede church marriage?
Have you wondered why traditional marriage is a must before the church wedding? Have you asked yourself why the preacher always ask for the man (father) giving out the bride during the church wedding? Do you know that the marriage is valid, according to law if done traditionally.
Traditional marriage supercede the church wedding. Take that to the bank.

But they ought to have followed the church's rules.
Thats why I love Catholic Church, your wife fit wear gown today, enter labour room tomorrow. cheesy

Although its not encouraged to get pregnant before marriage, but the Catholic Church will still wed you,so as to discourage a " change of plans" that might hurt the pregnant woman and child tomorrow.
If they are married traditionally, they are already husband and wife.
So the church joining is just a ceremonial exercise.

Travel / Re: UK To Close Temporary Visa Schemes As Over 143,000 Nigerian Doctors Migrates In by Ekpekus(m): 1:57pm On Nov 26, 2023
Namaster:
Misleading headline created by a junk news media for people who don't read.

The 143,000 people include immigrants from ALL OTHER COUNTRIES in the world. NOT just Nigeria. It includes Nigerians, Indians, Zimbabweans, Egyptians, etc.

Also, observe how the report only include percentage increases and not ACTUAL numbers of immigrants. For instance, the actual number of Nigerians in the whole 143,000 people could be less than 9,000.

Apart from being the collective number of people from all over the world, the 143,000 people are NOT all Doctors.

The number also includes nurses and carers, who are basically housegirls for sick people.

While the Brain Drain is real, useless online newspapers should not exaggerate the issue in order to cause panic.
May your wisdom never runs dry.

The Commissioner of Health should ensure she returns to that hospital ...and get treated ...
Just unfortunate that a patient cannot be forced against their wish...
But the money should have been kept for the purpose of the surgery (at least that is what the money was raised for) until the woman is ready

Even for abroad, you must go polling unit or you do advance voting, where you send in your ballot paper before election day.
Using solely smartphone is a recipe for unprecedented rigging.

The risks some people take ehn.
I dey tell.you... he stated they came for vacation, immigration officer is seeing a 38weeks pregnant woman with him... what do you expect her to think?
Meanwhile, no arrangements for delivery and postnatal care in Canada...
So, while this guy is beaming the light on his ordeal in Toronto, he didn't think it through that there are possibilities of his wife going into labour.

Why are some Nigerians always wanting to play smart or cut corners. The bill from the hospital will be nothing less than 70k Cad to 100k Cad. shocked
https://www.instagram.com/p/CzUA-Ytuxvi/?igshid=ZTdwdzNqeHpvZTh4

The story get as e be... who flies long distance at 38weeks GA?
Again, saying the baby MUST be delivered abroad or risk losing either baby or mother if delivery is done in Nigeria is fallacious.
Wondering how he got his wife fitness to fly at that gestation when that will further increase the risk of the mother and the baby.
The bills for delivery in Canada, especially surgery and then NICU (for baby, who i believe is now a Canadian by birth) is heavy...
Wishing the family all the best.

I am currently in dire need of #130k and I looked around but found no one to turn to, as my close friends & relatives also look up to me. Besides, I understand that most people in Nigeria are facing one or two financial challenges.

I've always found it so difficult to request for financial assistance from people, but I have no choice now than to seek, if I must save my mental health from breaking down completely. The only person I intend to turn to for assistance stays in Canada, but then I don't know how Nigerians there are faring at the moment. Hence the reason for bringing this to the travel section.

Thanks
Instead if you to ask the person concerning your need, you dey ask question.
So if you are told they are doing well in Canada, does that mean the person will lend you money?
Better ask him directly o... it is either a yes or no answer. Just manage your expectations.

Health / Re: Some Nigerian Doctors Forget Tools Inside Stomach After Surgery!!!! by Ekpekus(m): 7:57pm On Nov 07, 2023
dontrulee:
Infact, I agree with you that Doctors should be punished for negligence because they're dealing with human life.

In a normal intra-op setting, there's a board in which all the surgical materials in the theater are written on and as they're being used and discarded, it is ticked off. Infact even from the time of knife on skin, it's written on the board.

At the end of the surgery, all the materials are now crossed checked again to ensure no equipment or materials are forgotten inside the patient.

That's the normal protocol that I follow unfortunately many doctors don't follow these protocols and they end up making avoidable and careless mistakes.
Looks like you haven't worked in government hospitals... maybe na teaching hospital you dey..
Before you suture superficial layer, you can check for those materials, which is a routine and the standard of practice. However, some things can be missed (not intentionally) and this is what is bringing us this discussion.
Again, when you have 5 or more surgeries line up (aside emergencies), then you will understand the shortage of man power, which leads to burnout, fatigue and increased risk of this discussion.

No need throwing insult as it depict low emotional intelligence.

Comparatively I asked for the numbers of surgeries successful, you started hurling insults... can't you engage in a discussion?

it has happened to someone in my neighborhood, he died as a result of the negligence of the doctors who forgot a pair of scissors in his abdomen after a "successful appendicitis surgery".
So sorry to hear that.. what about the number of successful surgeries on individuals in your neighborhood that saved their lives? Abi dem nor dey do surgeries there?
Health / Re: Some Nigerian Doctors Forget Tools Inside Stomach After Surgery!!!! by Ekpekus(m): 1:50pm On Nov 07, 2023
zedegit:
I want to use this medium to raise awareness of how Nigerian Doctors always forget one instrument or the other inside a patient stomach and have the audacity to stitch up after surgery.

While this trend continues is because nothing serious is done to forestall this wickedness.
This act of negligence should come with serious punishment like life imprisonment and closure of that hospital to make others to get sense.

I have lost countless relatives and friends due to this wickedness of Nigerian Doctors. That's why people hardly go to hospital except for serious issues because danger increases anytime anyone visits a hospital.
The bolded needed to be scrutinized...
When you say "always" what exactly are you talking about?
How many friends and relatives do you have that are "countless "?
If this happened to your "countless" friends and relatives "always" ,then something is wrong somewhere.
