This man does not even look like a pastor. I expect his church, nay, his brothel rather, to have been closed down by now, for even confessing he slept with six of them. |
What has 19th Batalion turned to? 19th Batallion under Lt. Col. Nwokike, my father's junior colleague in the Army, in Ikeja cantonment , in early 2000s, was a constructive force before they were moved to Bakassi in the wake of Nigeria -Cameroun feud over the oil-rich region. |
tigermanneed:I remember as a young girl in JSS1 then. I was really very smart academically, and so I was noticed by one parent in my neighborhood whose son was also in my class. The parent made arrangement with my parents on how we could be studying together. So, the parent would bring him to our house every 7:30pm and pick him home by 9:30pm. We became friends in the process, and he had some improvement in his academic performance. But something happened. In a particular night, as we prepared for exam, I noticed this my friend was writing some stuffs in some tiny pieces of paper, and I asked what was that for. He said he was taking the paper to exam hall. Meaning, "expo". I warned him never to try that, and the implication of being caught. But he insisted he would go in with the "micro chips". I told him point blank that if he tried that, I would personally report him. Funny enough, his seat was not far from mine in the class. So, when the exam started, I occasionally looked at his direction. Lo and behold, this boy brought out the paper and started copying. I just called the attention of the invigilator, and told him to search the boy. And they found the "expo" on him. He was severely punished! He nearly put his parent into trouble , being a member of staff of the same school. I was brought up to eschew or hate evil. I know it's not easy to fight crime, but with wisdom, with discretion we can track down or give information that could lead to arrest of the criminals in our neighborhood. |
ehikwe22:Well, every man to his own thought. As a man thinks in his heart, so he is. If you think you're nothing but a pawn in the hands of these criminals, so be it! I have done this for years, and I can say it pays to be on the right side of the law. And this is what I will do for the rest of my long life, by God's grace! In community policing, everybody must be an informant. I pity the cowards in our society, they would live in bondage and fear of the criminals forever. If you see something, say something! |
greggng:I understand your pain. And, sorry for that. Like I said earlier, there are also bad eggs in all the security agencies, police inclusive. And, honestly , you had every right to petition them. And if you had done that, I'm sure the higher authority would have taken it up. But, your case was an exception. Police, especially could be funny. But, then people should not give up. There are ways to keep them on their toes. I remember back then, 2013 or so, a guy reported a particular case to one of the agencies, and the the "oga at the top" of the security agency wanted to sweep it under carpet, for reason best known to him. I told the guy to put the story on Nairaland. And somehow, it found its way to the front page. Other media houses got it from Nairaland, and it went viral. By that time the "oga at the top" heard of the story on TV, radio, everywhere, he had no choice than to do the right. We should not be discouraged by the bad eggs! |
chymevicks:I disagree with you. Only the fearful , the cowards would give it such title. Get rid of such mentality. To some great extent, you can give information to the security agents, even the police, without endangering your life. There are bad elements in these agencies, agreed. All you need do is being pro-active. Go to the police station or DSS office close to you, get what we call "CONTROL ROOM NUMBERS". Don't wait till there's a crime before asking for numbers. You can hide your number, and call these lines if there's any crime in your area, or if you suspect any movement around you. |
henryobinna:As a teenager, a young girl of 15 years old, there was a guy living in my neighborhood. This man stayed at home all day playing loud music, and put on generator when there's power failure. He used to go out every night and come with at least a girl in the morning. Everybody was talking about him, but none dare asked what his job was. Because he usually beat his girlfriends blue black. So, to the neighbors he was very brutal. But I did something. I went to Shomolu police station, then. Not even the Station close to Pedro where we lived. I reported my observation. The DPO was curious. Because, I specifically demanded I wanted to see the DPO one-on-one, not the subordinates. Few days later, police came to raid the house. They recovered pistols, charm, and other stuff from the guy. It was then we knew we had been living with a criminal. That's the power of information. That singular step made the police discovered my potentials, that also informed my becoming a lawyer to complement my newly-found ambition, and I thank God for where he's taken me today . And about your warning, I'm not wired to be a coward. I'm safe, ok! |
cornel994:That's the language of a coward. That's the lie they have sold to you. And that's why some rape victims never report the rapists, because they have have threatened them they would die, or would be dealt with if they do. But in reality, the day the victim summons couRage to report the criminal, that day would mark the beginning of the end for the rapist. |
Fhowe:You sound so illogical, and empty. I cannot even be classified as a low-income earner. For your information, I'm not wired to be fearful! That's not my upbringing. You may live in fear forever. But I can assure you, the day any criminal crosses my way, his days would be numbered. You won't understand! |
bartho77:And security, intelligence gathering is our collective business. So, mind them! |
masterP042:Go to the nearest police station, or DSS office, if any, in your area, ask for their control room numbers. I'm sure they would gladly give you. And if the over zealous ones bother to ask why you need them, tell them you might need them for security reasons, because that's what the numbers are meant for. |

Preshy3509:Intelligence gathering is a cheaper, faster, quicker and simpler way to fight crime. You nip crime in the bud. |
EazyMoh:Go to the nearest police station, or DSS office, if any, in your area, ask for their control room numbers. I'm sure they would gladly give you. And if the over zealous ones bother to ask why you need them, tell them you might need them for security reasons, because that's what the numbers are meant for. Anytime the hoodlums gather to smoke weed, call the numbers. |
Kesmakveli:Their strongest charm/juju is the fear they have put in the mind of the people that they are very powerful. They are not as powerful as some people think. As powerful as Anini & his notorious team thought they were, with intelligence gathering, they were arrested, demystified and executed by firing squad. The strength of their charm lies in people not reporting their movements. |

To stem down the high rate of killing, raping, kidnapping, cult activities, armed robberies, fraud (419, yahoo plus), ritual killings, insurgency, etc, in the country we need to police our immediate environment. We must do the following: 1. Live on the right side of the law. Don't do crime. 2. Don't abet crime. Don't aid crime. Don't join hands with criminals. 3. Expose the criminal elements and their activities in your neighborhood. Criminals are not ghost. They are human beings. They live among people. Get official security lines from police, DSS, and other law enforcement agents in your locality. Report to them. Such reports are anonymous. They don't reveal your identity. Their phone lines have being formatted to hide your identity. You don't even have to tell them your name. Just ensure you give genuine information. Work like a voluntary under-cover. For instance, a young man is living large in your neighborhood, without any obvious job, and you keep quiet. Hmmmn. You're playing with fire. 4. If you see something, say something! Be security conscious! 5. If you keep quiet, they would continue to rob you, kill you, rape the women, defile the minors, kidnap for rituals and ransom, and foment troubles as cultists. 6. Forget about their empty threats of reprisal attacks or revenge attacks. They only use that to intimidate people. Once they are caught, and sent to where they belong, they can't do nothing! Moreso, your identity is hidden. 7. When you don't stand against evil, there can't be peace in the land. Morals: if you fail to do your part as a good citizen, never blame the government or the authority for whatever horrors the criminals in your areas are subjecting you to. Life is choice. |
If there must be peace in our domain, we must report criminal activities and criminal elements in our neighborhood to the authority. If you see something, say something. |
sixtus3606:The truth is that such heinous acts, and crimes would continue to occur as long as we continue to protect the criminals who live around us. These criminals live with us, and instead of exposing them, people, out of fear choose to cover them. As long as people continue to be coward, rather than being brave enough to report criminals to the authority, crimes would continue in the land. Rapists are not spirits. They are human beings. They live around us. Ditto for armed robbers, yahoo boys, fraudsters, ritualists, etc. they are not invincible. People know them, but would not expose them. If we want them arrested, we all have a duty to play. That's the essence of community policing. The society sees something wrong, and reports to the authority. Imagine what happened last week. A criminal who once lived in my neighborhood was put up in crime section, and for telling the world I knew him, see how many criminals who were ready to eat me raw. Unfortunately for them, I'm on the good side of the law. I have the authority here. I'm trained and better equipped! When you see something, say something! That's the rule. That's how Nigeria can get better. |
femi4:Don't mind my friends, back then. They nicknamed me EKSU gal because they could not see why I could finished a degree in a popular school like UNILAG, and decided to pursue another degree in a school like EKSU. So, anytime they beeped me, they would say, EKSU gal, what's up! It was a huge fun for me. And somehow, I like the nickname. Funny enough, I reasoned I needed a change of environment having lived in Lagos all my life. And it paid off. |
I remember what we were taught in basic science, in junior secondary school, before switching to arts class finally. The functions of Vernier Callipers and Micrometer Screw Gauge. Lols. |
donbenedict:Laughing like seriously. ![]() So take your time means delay, wait for some time, or feet-dragging in this context? Half education is worse than illiteracy! Go back to school, chief! Well for the sake of others like you, Take your time, in this context means, Take caution, Be alert, take cautionary measures, etc. |
This is to awaken our security consciousness!!!. A true life story is told of how armed robbers now snatch vehicles from unsuspecting people nowadays. In a party or public gathering, they will meet the MC to make an announcement of a particular car with registration number so so and so blocking them, while you go out to move your car, some guys are waiting outside for you with a gun, you are then ordered to ride the car out of the compound with them inside already with you. Please endeavor to Do the following when your vehicle registration number is being called out at a social function : 1) Take ur time before going out. 2) Don't go out alone, at least in company of two or more people, or inform the security personnels at the function. (3) Don't go directly to where the car is parked, at least to confirm from a distance if you are blocking another car truly. And make sure there is a driver in the blocked car already before you go. 4) Watch your surroundings carefully before approaching the vehicle. Somebody who witnessed how one of such innocent persons was shown a pistol and the car eventually snatched decided to share this. Pls copy and share even if u don't own a car and save a lot of people. |
sainttwist1:Good advice. But This is strictly official. I'm doing my job. |
Great song! Great message! Great revelation! For great minds! Kudos to these great Legends! |
sainttwist1:I don't get your point. What exactly do you mean? |
shegra58:You're right! His presence would suffice for interrogation. It's been established that the father in question has lost control over this boy since he was in secondary school. Investigation revealed that many times this guy would collect money from his father, even duped him, and ran away from home. Somebody in RCCG youth church revealed the boy had scammed his father several times, claiming he was going into music. But the fact that he's an adult, would make him, and not his father, pay for his crime. |
shegra58:Both. If you get the father, you would get the son! That's why parents need to train up their children properly. Otherwise, they would pay dearly for it later in life. |
ehikwe22:No matter your reason for going into crime, if you're caught you would be treated like common criminals. There's no valid excuse for going into crime. |
1stCitizen:Can you imagine their mindset? Criminal elements everywhere! I can't believe how people support crimes and criminality. By the time the same criminals come as armed robbers and kill their family, they would be blaming the government. Meanwhile, these criminals live among them. They know them. They even protect them. Cowards they're! Criminals are not invincible. It's people shielding them from the arm of the law. |
ehikwe22:You leave that. Just stay away from crime. That's all I have for you, and for all. |
