11-Year-Old Ekiti Table Tennis Player Set For Morocco Championship

An 11-year-old Ekiti born table tennis player, Denis Adeleye, is set to represent Nigeria at the African Junior Championship that will hold in Morocco in October 2016.

Adeleye, who is passionately preparing for the competition, visited the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Thursday. Denis Adeleye says he is hopeful of returning victorious.

Governor Fayose promised to support Adeleye within the limited resources of the State government.
In a press conference at the Government House after the meeting with young Adeleye, the young star said he would do anything possible to make Nigeria proud.

dismissed the allegation that he is
the sponsor of Boko Haram terrorist
organisation as “rubbish” saying tha
he is one of the biggest victims of
the organization.
Attorney-General and Commissioner of
Justice, Borno state, Hon Kaka Shehu
Lawan accused Alhaji Ali Modu Sherif
of being responsible for the growth
of the dreaded Islamic terrorist
group, Boko Haram, saying he should
be arrested and prosecuted.
He spoke Yesterday Tuesday at one of
the sessions at the ongoing annual
conference of the Nigerian Bar
Association, NBA, in Port Harcourt,
adding that Sheriff’s over his
alleged role in the emergence of
Boko Haram will assuage the feelings
of millions that have been
dislocated by the terrorist actions
of the dreaded Islamic group in one
way or the other.
But in an exclusive interview with
Vanguard, Spokesman of Sheriff, Inuw
Bwala said rather than being the
sponsor of the group, Senator Sherif
is a victim of the sect having list
three of his brothers to the
terrorist group.
According to Bwala, Senator Sheriff
has instructed his lawyers to take
appropriate measures against the
Attorney General for the unfounded
allegations.
He said officials of the present
Borno state government are “more
likely people to be suspected given
the fact that at the time he left
government, no public official has
been accused of being linked to the
sect”
“We need to state without any fear
of contradiction that the the
Attorney General is both mischievous
and being economical with the truth.
He is trying to cover up the fact
that the agents of Borno Government
are more likely to be sponsors of
the Boko Haram Sect.
Sheriff is more vulnerable to Boko
haram because he has his three
brothers killed by the sect. Inuwa
Bwala said it is illogical for
somebody who had lost three of his
brothers to the sect to be their
sponsor. ”
We advice him to go and read the
history of the emergence of Boko
Haram so that he will be saved from
going before his fellow lawyers and
engaging in this macabre dance” he
said.

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Osun state chapter, on Wednesday described the job centre recently inaugurated by the state governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, as a “fraud and another misstep from a straying administration”.

Aregbesola had recently commissioned for use a centre in Osogbo to assist unemployed youths search for jobs in the labour market. But the opposition party, in a statement signed by Prince Diran Odeyemi, its spokesperson, said it was bizarre that the Aregbesola administration that could not pay salaries and pensions of workers and retirees would embark on another round of wasteful spendings through a multi-million naira centre to assist unemployed youths get jobs that are not created or available.

The PDP said Aregbesola’s administration that first introduced “half salary” before other states started copying the idea had tried its hands on many other initiatives to engage the youth without success. It therefore asked the administration to explain what gains O’yes and other programmes had brought to the state.

The statement reads: “Mr. Aregbesola from our findings must have been seeing job centres in advanced countries of the world and thought introducing such would halt his falling popularity among the people of the state” “Imagine if monies expended on the project are spent on clearing the backlog of arrears of salaries owed youth engaged through O’yes scheme and other failed initiatives, the beneficiaries would not have been plunged into deeper economic crisis as they are experiencing now, after accepting to sweep streets even with their degrees.”
