A lot of guys here have raised the idea that design in nature supports the existence of god or at least a "higher intelligent being".

Ok. Let's test this arguement. Suppose design in nature is proof enough of a higher being, who is to say if this being is a "he" as most have been saying? Can this being be a "she"? Or an "it"? Then perhaps we are actually dealing with a set of beings? As someone suggested that automobile production is analogous to natural design, can we then suppose that the universe was designed by a mega factory of gods? If we accept that design in nature is proof of god, which of the existing gods win the bet? Allah (with no son), Jehovah (with 1 son) or Zeus (with many sons & daughters)?

Then let's introduce Satan which is the arch enemy of the Abrahamic gods (Jehovah/Allah/Yahweh), since he was "cast unto Earth" according to the bible, are we safe from his operations if we move to, say, Saturn or Mars? If human biosphere spread to the next galaxy, will god grant satan a charter there too or will he find another satan for that realm so he can send his son to die there too?

Finally, is there really a difference between the god theory & the big bang theory of the origin of the Universe? Religionists have always attacked the big bang with one main challenge which is "what started the bang & where did the bang materials come from?" We can ask the same of the god theory, what started god & where was god before he/she/it/they started??

Wow....... I never knew this has been your line of thought. Howdy baba

To be honest with you, the society has a right to rebuke in the strongest term when a known and notorious cultist decide to call it quits. They can't just in a whiff forgive and forget especially if they have suffered directly or indirectly from their activities.

Experience have shown that after the initial rebuke, if the renouncer is genuinely a changed person, most people will come to terms that he/she should be forgiven and be accepted as a worthy member of the society, though a number of souls will continually taunt them by making them a negative reference point at any given instance. The best thing such people can do is to accept the societal backlash as their penance in good faith, then strive and be focused in continuing their new found part to peaceful existence. With time, the societal ill feelings towards them heals.

I agree completely with you that proper guidance and counseling for such ones won't be a bad idea as it would help them develop their sense of self worth , which will be beneficial to the society in the long run. While we seek to reintegrate them back into the folks of sane citizenship, the initial backlash against them shouldn't be watered down cos it sends a strong message that their cult membership is not only detrimental to them but it is an anomaly to societal norms.

Time heals everyone . . . . . .

I agree with you.

She simply gave you a glimpse of her past and informed all of her present in the most civil fashion, yet her civility was countered with unmerited brashness

To be sincere with you, the unmerited brashness and bashing that our society at large give to these 'Frat' guys makes it difficult for a lot of them who might have a change of heart come out openly to say so.

Agreed, their action/inactions are antisocial. However imagine one who has come out to say I'm no more interested and the world outside starts to condemn him. On the inside, some are pissed of at him for leaving them. It then becomes double trouble, caught between the devil and the deep sea.

In my opinion, it would be a good thing to re-integrate such ones back into society. Proper guidance and counselling for such ones won't be a bad idea as it would help them develop their sense of self worth. It could also give their lives a proper and defined direction.

The government is doing little, NGOs are already overwhelmed, religious bodies are not effective to dissuade prospective recruits, we come online to condemn ourselves. How then do we find a solution to this menace? If some comments on this thread are true, cultism has swallowed many states. Other States are half swallowed.

WHAT CAN WE ALL DO TO STOP THIS TREND?

I only read a few of her posts, so I don't know about her present.

When you come chanting some funny dirges claiming to honor fallen soldiers without who were fighting for no sensible stuff, you get bashed..

Whatever makes her happy though.

I did not HONOR anyone. I only said RIP in my own way.

i get you quite alright, and i applaud you for speaking out, seeking for solution is also a good idea, i hope other potential thugs/cultist take a leave from your experience its been facsinating having this conversation i ve learnt a lot from it which is the most important life is all about experience and working towards getting it right were one got it wrong, incase you are wondering my curiosity i was a thug/gang member, some thing one thought was ok at that time, having grown up one realises that it was irrelevant, yes there are also reasons why some one might join a gang/cultist be it due to low self esteem, bullying or otherwise the most important is been able to recognise ones mistakes and to put it right, i would say Good luck. If i may, having been through all this, what are your plans for the future?

Thanks a lot.

I'm working hard at drawing closer to God. That's my main focus.

from my understanding you seem ready to make amends, but without admission of guilt or taking responsibility again i repeat partly!, which i believe is also human, one would assume that you are not ready to move on, earlier you asserted that it seems like fun initially, now am not trying to be the judge here, am just trying to comprehend what goes on in the minds of folks like you, in your previous post you were not neccerssarily applauding but making excuses for this thugs.

You might be getting me wrong.

My admission of any wrong doing in my life course should be to my creator because He is the ultimate judge. Yes I said it seems like fun INITIALLY. This evidently means at a point in time, it became disgusting.

My use of the example of Saul who later became Paul evidently points to coming out of ignorance to thread the right path. When Saul went to the Caiaphas the chief priest to get legal authorisation to persecute Christ's followers, he felt he was on the right path. He was also there watching over the clothes of those who stoned Stephen to death.

Along the line, he came across the truth and made a complete U-turn. He became the persecuted one, he suffered ship wreck, he was flogged yet he clung to his new found faith right to the end.

If my statement about them fighting for an ideology is what you mean by making excuse for them, you didnt get me quite well. I would still refer to Saul/Paul. The ideology that Christ's followers were to be killed was what he initially had and later in life, the ideology changed and his personality changed.

You see, many of the 'Frat' boys are DISILLUSIONED. Some are desirous of being AMONG. There are others who are only looking for a cover to carry out their bad activities that are inherent in them. These 2 groups will foment trouble at the slightest instance. Many were just intimidated to join and felt they had no choice, these are the ones who run away at the slightest smell of trouble. In all, a basic ideology is in each person. So long as he believes in that ideology, he's bound to engage in antisocial activities.

The questions i would like to ask however is 'what can the society at large do to stop this menace'?
After identifying WHAT to do, WHEN will we take action?

Until then these boys/babes/dudes/chicks will continue in their lines of action and the menace keeps growing.

Really? Have you really moved on? By some of your comments on here, it would appear to one that you! Still applaud the murderous atrocities meted out by this thugs, and i put it to you! That you! Was, Perhaps still partly responsible be it knowing or unknowingly for some of this atrocities.would you agree?

None of my words thus far applauds any of their violent and irresponsible actions. No! As for being RESPONSIBLE for any actions they take/took, I also say no.

If you can, please mention my words that you think applaud their actions.

Also remember that I'm a human being with blood and water flowing through me, as such, I caanot claim to be a perfect and sinless person.

When one is ignorant, his/her actions are the best but with more understanding, one knows those actions of his/hers that are wrong. In one of my previous posts, I used the example of Saul who later became Paul.

But do you know what? They all died mysteriously and some even ran mad. Pray your boyfriend don't run to your house naked one day.

God is the ultimate judge.

Saul who later became Paul was a front line antagonist of early followers of Christ. Eventually, he was pardoned of his sins and wrote most of the Greek Scriptures of the bible.

Who am I to judge anyone?

i appreciate your sense of reasoning, and i hate to be very robust, you were aware of the murderous atrocities that went on yet you! Did not go to the authorities or get away sooner, it appears to me that the whole activities be it murderous or otherwise were enjoyed by you, again my two cent

Well, I might not dispute what you say. As I said earlier, I was already attached to him b4 he got attached to 'Frat life' so it wasn't that easy for me to call it quits at the initial stage. It also seemed to be fun at the time but just as life is in phases, I outgrew that life and moved on.
