The Imo State Government has denied owing workers salaries as claimed by a group, Ndi-Igbo Unity Forum and dismissed the ultimatum issued to Governor Rochas Okoroacha to pay. Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sam Onwuemeodo in a statement on Sunday said "the truth, and the whole truth is that, Governor Okorocha or the Imo State Government has paid workers in the state upto February, 2016, and that of March is about to begin." " Anybody or any group that worths being called a group that has any contrary claim to make based on facts and figures should come up with it. In Imo, the government of Governor Okorocha does not tell lies. " We tell our audience the truth at all times, to the glory of God. We sympathize with these enemies of good works and ask God to have mercy on them," Onwuemeodo stated. While stating that the group that issued the statement was as fictitious , the Chief Press Secretary said it was not able to convince their audience on their genuiness by stating their stake and the particulars of the salary arrears and allowances they had talked about. He said it was ironical that the group made its allegations after the State Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) , Comrade Austin Chilakpu while making his speech during the Workers' May Day Celebration commended Governor Okorocha for not owing workers in the state salary arrears like it is the case in some other states. " Those scratching Governor Okorocha have always ended up displaying their weakness both mentally and spiritually. They are always petty because they have no valid claim to make against Governor Okorocha and the Rescue Mission Government he superintend source: http://www.imsuvila..com/2016/05/imo-not-owing-workers-salaries-govt.html

Contrary to reports that authorities at the University of Lagos have
suspended the institution's student union body, the union on Friday
dismissed its purported suspension as untrue.
"We are still intact and we are still in the struggle," the union said
in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Emmanuel Afolabi.
He said few days after the university management posted a statement on
the institution's website, announcing the suspension, the union
executives are yet to receive any official document on the
development.
He added that instead of the management to give a letter announcing
the union's suspension, it only locked up its offices.
"On this note, we are stating categorically that ULSU is still ULSU.
No ULSU executive or principal officer was elected via the school
website and we can never accept a suspension via that means," the
statement added.
The union, however, described the purported suspension as illegal,
insisting that the management has no right to suspend the union.

Akwa Ibom governor builds mansion within few months According to the online medium, the governor started building the edifice about four months after emerging as winner of the last gubernatorial election in the state. Sahara Reporters stated further that in an exclusive report on September 30, 2015, it had revealed that contract for the building project was awarded by the governor to VKS Construction Limited, a construction firm owned by one Onur Kumral, a Turkish national. The Turkish national was also alleged to have aided the former governor, Godswill Akpabio in siphoning public funds and a source close to him reportedly told Sahara Reporters that, “Oliver Ebong and his company Olkem Nigeria Limited are fronts that was used by Godswill Akpabio, his brother Emem Akpabio and Mr. Don Etim to loot billions of naira of Akwa Ibom funds. “What happened was that the former governor gave almost all the consultancy job for roads and other infrastructural projects and contracts of his government to Olkem Nigeria Limited which ran into several billions of naira. “The cost of the consultancy contracts were usually inflated and returns were made to the former governor, his brother and Don Etim. This fact was common knowledge within government circles.”
