According to Punch Newspapers, the following are some of the reasons 115 DSS officers were sacked.

Some of the dismissed DSS officers were said to have travelled abroad in search of greener pastures without proper resignation from the service.

An insider said, “About 15 to 20 per cent of them are no longer in the country. They were dismissed for improper resignation. The DG wants to instil a stronger sense of discipline and discourage attitudes that were previously overlooked.”

Similarly, some of the dismissed officers were said to have been found guilty of certificate forgery.

A senior official said some of the dismissed officers were employed with Arabic institute certificates.

“These are bad eggs. They used forged birth certificates for employment.

Some also attended schools in Benin Republic for only four months and presented the certificates as degrees. Others even used mosque certificates as equivalents of a degree.

“It is not possible for people who are not truthful about themselves to work in this service. They are complicit in many things; that is why their names and photos were published.

They are trained personnel, and the government is watching them to ensure they don’t use the agency’s name to perpetrate illicit acts. That is why their photos were released—so that people will not have dealings with them.”

Everything about this DSS recruitment has been step down or suspended. This is not as a result of what u saw on the website but from a good source.

This is to ensure that a thorough vetting is carried out as a result of what happened during the last recruitment by Bichi.

They want to prevent the recruitment of undisciplined and mannerless officers that would spoil the image of the agency.

So plus or minus, the recruitment or training which was supposed to start this November might be starting December or probably next year January or February.

Note: DSS has a separate and classified budget. They don't follow the national budget based on what I observed. So I strongly doubt if the delay in training or any other thing is as a result of finance but as a result of removing the bad eggs in the agency and ensure that the current recruitment does not include uncomposed and undisciplined officers by carrying out a thorough vetting.

But I still wanna believe or hope that the training happens this month of November or December and not next year. Decisions can change.

I heard states have sent names or list to Abuja, please how true is this?

Check the channels tv Facebook channel of 13 Feb, I think dss is planning to recruit.

I observed that there are lots of changes or reforms going on with Dss since the appointment of this new Dg. Salary increments has been effected, officers who were indiscriminately and unprofessionally posted are being withdrawn, promotions and retirement is going on. With this development, I think it would give room or space for recruitment hopefully.

I think this people are just doing replacement and no intention of recruiting. I pray they recruit soon.

We pray and hope, let's see what would happen after then. It's taken too long unless they have been calling for private recruitment without anybody knowing about it.
