Thanks so much. The rumors that they usually send people back if you are entering from a different poe was what was scaring me.

Fly arik to new York and connect to wherever. Thank me later

Thinking of following that route. But I hope I ll not be turned back, because I stated that I ll be going to Maryland for family function in June. And the function has even be postponed to September.

Will it be a big deal to enter through Newyork?

Hello Elizabeth40,

It is highly unlikely that is the only reason for your refusal. We all know very well that there are many strikes in the universities and colleges here and we are understanding of that. Proving to the officer that you are a credible and qualified student takes many forms and is not predicated on one small piece of information. Being clear and upfront in the short time you have at the window is VERY important. When you apply again, be sure to take the time to review your application before submitting to ensure that all the answers are accurate. As always you must overcome the presumption of immigrant intent - so be sure to clearly explain your ties to Nigeria, your purpose of travel and how you will pay for your trip.

Regards,
Nigeria NIV Team

Thanks VO. You are actually right, my visa was granted this morning at the Lagos embassy.

I was so happy that I didn't hear the instruction on how to collect my passport back clearly.

I chose Ikeja as means of collection, but the VO mentioned and circled Victoria Island on the form he gave me. And I thought I heard him say go collect on Monday, could that be correct cos the interview was today Friday.

Just want to b sure b4 going on Monday.
Pls pardon me o, I was too happy to grab the instructions clearly!

Dear VO.

I was refused a student few years ago. When plundering on why the VO refused me with just few questions , I recall her asking ''again when did you finish uni'' I said 2007 . I suspect that my in earlier application I wrote 2008 as my year of graduation.

The truth about this is that our set year is 2006/2007 academic year. But because of strikes and other problems the university suffers we wrote our final exam in 2008. We got our original certificate in 2010. And issueing date was backdated to 2007 which was suppose to be the ideal year of graduating. I fill 2007 because I can't say I finished 2008 when my result is showing issueing date as 2007. The VO never said anything about this difference. But I am now suspecting that was where d problem lies.

My real issue now is that, I am about to apply for visit visa now , I am scared the VO might still use this against me without asking anything about it.

How do I make VO see things from my angle, having it in mind that VO make decisions without even probing further to clarify issue.

Dear VO.

since Yesterday I ve been trying to upload my pix to the D160 form and it keeps saying erorr in processing.

Hello Elizabeth40,

You can try and be honest in the future, but we strongly discourage people from using visa agents. They are only seeking money and they do not have your interests at heart. More often than not, they damage your credibility and limit the possibility of you receiving a visa in the future.

Abuja NIV Team

Thanks VO for your response.

But u missed out my real question. Will a D160 form with wrong information submitted but the interview cancelled , be used against future interview?

I want to be clear about this before applying at all.
Thanks for your sacrifice on this forum.

Dear VO,
Pls enlighten / advice me on this.

An agent once helped me fill form D160 to apply for Visit Visa to attend a conference some years back. but when he gave me the form i noticed he filled that i work with a coy and have experience related to the upcoming conference all which were not true. i told him i was expecting him to get a conference related to my field and work. To cut the story short, we cancelled the appointment after he told me since i ve not gone for the interview no damage done yet.

Later in the year i applied on my own with all my genuine info, i was refused a visa on 214b ground without any reference to the earlier submitted D160 form. I am about to reapply, and someone told me that the form the agent submitted will always affect me despite cancelling the interview. If true, what can i do to rectify this problem.
