Ralphlauren: your tuition has been fully paid for by your state government and you should be VERY, VERY, VERY thankful for that.
get a part time job to pay for your living expenses. I dont know what part of the UK you are but there are flat shares with bills inclusive all over the country. with £350-£400 a month, you will get a room that you can comfortably stay in.
i dont know what part of UK you are but where i am, monthly bus pass is £52 -unlimited bus travel + use of the city's tram. So take the bus or better still, get yourself a bicycle
Feeding - hard chicken is sold for 2 or 3 for £5 in most major citizens. With less than £10, you can convinently cook a pot of soup. Can of chooped tomatoes are about 25p at Tesco, if not less
You are allowed to work unlimited hours during school holidays - what were you doing over christmas and newyear?
I still stand by my statement - I know people that paid for their school fees themselves. they worked their heads off during summer, doing multiple LEGIT jobs, spending less and cutting down on their expenses. Justwise can come here to collaborate my statement.
I repeat you lot are just a lazy bunch
The stipends wont continue forever. Go and get yourself a job and stop living off nigeria's taxpayers money. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................Guy get your fact right before you spill.
No fees has been paid for 2014/2015 session
what summer break are you talking about people started schooling by September. trying to settle down in foreign environment. even if they start working immediately, which is almost impossible because you need to settle down and apply for an NI number, how much can they make with £6.5 per hour for 20 hours.
Talking about the job, getting a job isnt even easy, most establishment wont employ without experience, what experience does secondary school graduates from Nigeria have
other than saying rubbish why not give words of encouragement or in the worse case scenario just say nothing |

As if people don't do that in Nigeria sef. How much is tuition in Nigeria?? |

Nihilist: So because your funding is withdrawn halfway through your course, you just sit down and do nothing? So what legal job can you do to be able to pay for tuition(£12800 a year) plus living expenses, halfway though your course. Guys be just ranting, bring them here to face this situation, and see most of them as they go through illegal means. instead of saying irrelevant things why not try to give credit, SIX months in a foreign land with help coming from no where no be beans SMH |
Education › Re: Rivers Students Cries Out Over 6 Months Unpaid Allowances by Ellacherries(f): 11:36am On Apr 02, 2015 |
Nihilist: Your 'point' is irrelevant really, because it doesn't matter. Like I said, at the end of the day nobody is allowed to start without a percentage of the tuition paid upfront...which means that the amount of tuition student has to pay on his own to pay is less than the full amount.
And I know people who have hustled to pay at least half their tuition fees whilst studying full time.
This thing is just common sense. One way or another outstanding fees must be paid and student must survive. If fees aren't paid, student's place at university is removed and his conditional visa is revoked leading to deportation anyway.
what point are trying to make i am telling you that 100% of my fees have not been paid, this isn't hearsay. |

Nihilist: lol
Again you never ready chop. You need to fix your mentality. You don't sound like you were ever hungry. Otherwise when hunger waya you, and landlord corner you, then you will know that the hustle is real.
I worked fulltime during my final year at Uni...and I knew people then who worked 2 jobs and still finished with 1st class and 2:1. those people came with the impression that they are sponsoring themselves (Excluding Tuition). Now, we came here with the impression that we are being sponsored 100% by the government. Two different scenario |

Nihilist: slow down on the hyperbole ma.
The worst that can happen is deportation. Now you tell me which is better.
Sit on your hands and starve while keeping your visa? Or go out and look for work to survive at the risk of deportation? Risk deportation and you think the Rivers state Government would congratulate you for taking drastic measures to combat the situation Guy think again |

Nihilist: Abajo...this one is a newbie. 2 bed flats in new builds just behind piccadilly station only cost around 600 a month, and discerning students sublet sef. Your mates move out to bolton, oldham, warrington and stockport to get cheaper accomodation. Cheap cheap accomodation full salford so it's on you paying 97 quid a week to live in halls. That alone tells me that you're not ready to budget.
p.s I graduated in 2008 so you're talking to an igboro here
move to Bolton, Stockport Places which are miles away from the Uni Talking about subletting, is that legal. you guys just go about breaking rules. mind you 2008 is a long time ago. things have changed, cost of living has increased
As you know, you cant start without having paid a sizable percentage(usually 50 percent) of your tuition fee, so the target amount to work towards is always going to be a lot smaller than what you quoted. When you bear in mind that the first 10,000 pounds in income each year is tax free, you begin to realize how much room you have to manouevre if you're serious about budgeting you pay 50% if you are being sponsored by your parents or some persons other than the government. if you are being sponsored by the government all you need do is provide a sponsorship letter as a prove. Guy, get your facts right. |

Whatever happened to Nigerians being referred to as survivors? If na Me I for don hustle and even send cars home and build a house in Nigeria. Do you know the amount of opportunities one can get in Canada? how much is the tuition £12800 per year, please convert that to naira before you start ranting. |

Nihilist: 20 hours a week at minimum wage is around 120 pounds a week or 480 pounds a month.
Are you saying you can't survive as a student on 480 pounds a month especially if you live outside London?
Moreover, if as a student you don't know you should be working double those hours, then you never ready chop.
Dey there make pant wear you. am sure you probably schooled where rents cost less. I school in Manchester, and rent my rent is £97 per week. PS. most people unlike you adhere to rules. "20 HOURS" |

Ololade1999: rubbish most of these students are not ready to work at all. There are part time jobs that they can do and use the money for their upkeep. I did my masters in uk and just after 4 months of arriving uk I have been fending for myself till now without affecting my studies at all. They are unserious at all Guy, we are talking about upkeeps, rent, bill and tuition of thousands of pounds. how long would you be able to work to get that. these students have tried 6 months no be beans. one more thing most of this students are young, their ages ranging from 16, you a masters student is far more older and stronger most of them. How much can working 20 hours a week bring |
