I align with this statement as it reflects the same sentiments that I have. I'd prefer that govt is 'pro-markets' rather than just 'pro-business'. Provided the Petro importation is not substandard, let the competition continue.
Fiscus105: Read my comments and make sure you understand and stop following Dangote gragra, if Dangote Petro is profitable for the importers, they won't bypass him and go for foreign imports.
Have you for once asked urself, the gains, you as a citizen gaining from ban they place on cement importation? The skyrocketing gain the cement manufacturers are gaining, have they sent a penny to your account once? Did you know how much cement cost today and the amount it would be, if they lift ban? The same goes to rice importation before they partially lifted the ban.
Provided the Petro importation is not substandard, let the competition continue. |

It is very funny. Hmm.., i pray people don't learn the hard way sha. I see that a part of the problem is when people look at the YTD, Weekly or Daily charts on apps like Yochaa or Bamboo, and they see these companies. They often rush in without necessarily understanding nuances like volumes and liquidity. That is how someone was mentioning Austinlaz as one of the best performing stocks on NGX!! The stock market is not a get rich quick platform. It is best for long term capital and wealth growth. Agbalowomeri: You never see anything Gamblers are gradually infiltrating NGX |

To think that I could have gotten Wapco at ₦25 when Pa Emma first highlighted it 😭😭😭 Ignorant me stayed away from NGX for too long 😭😭. I have learnt my lessons sha. To us newbies, having fundamentally sound companies in your portfolio should be paramount. It is a solid path to building long term wealth. The *patience and discipline* not to act impulsively is equally important. Following the news should is a no-brainer, just as self-education & listening to market whispers. With more experience, we'll probably evolve a mix of strategies that works best for each individual. elpaso007: Another 🎯 from you!

Hard to argue against those saying Wapco at CP is still undervalued.
Hope we have more solid firms like this in NGX. |

Many were carried away just like you back then. Crucially, our longing for a Messiah will ultimately lead to grand disappointments. Because fixing Nigeria will require a whole-of-society approach as there'll never be such Messiah that can fix the country without the critical mass of our people committing to it. God1000: May his soul rest in peace, we are all gonna die someday.
I voted for him in 2015, a decision I later regretted, I thought he was the messiah we've been waiting for then, but here we are today with another terrible government.
May God forgive his sins. |

🙏🏿🫡👌🏿 starpower: Sir, this reminds me of one gathering I attended not long ago. A gentleman confidently declared he can pull 45% annual returns trading stocks—with a straight face, o. I calmly asked, “How consistent are those returns?” Next thing, he went full-blown emotional, even dropped the ₦100 million hypothetical starting capital like it’s sachet water money.
I just smiled. Because honestly, this is the same delusional energy I see here on the forum daily—especially in penny stock fantasyland. Some of you will say things like “I bought 5 million units of XYZ in 3 days”, like NGX is a crypto exchange with infinite liquidity.
Let’s be real: Most penny stocks on the NGX can’t even absorb 1 million units at a fair price in a week without pushing the price up. Unless you’re doing cross-dealing or moving paper off-market, you’re lying—or worse, deceiving yourself.
This market has shallow depth. Liquidity is highly fragmented, and volume doesn’t always equal opportunity. Just because you see 10 million units traded doesn't mean you can enter and exit with size at the price you want. Try dropping ₦100 million into some of these tickers, and you’ll be left holding the bag while the market trades around you with tissue-paper volume.
A lot of people here forget: Making money in stocks is one thing—scaling it up is another beast entirely. And until you’ve tried to get out of a large position in a thin stock without breaking your back or the price, you haven’t graduated.
So when next someone throws wild return figures around, especially with big capital, ask one thing: “Show me the track record. And show me the liquidity.”
Because if it can't scale, it’s just another story for the boys at the beer parlour. 🍻 Same way they use small sample statements to generate statistics, outright delusional 🎬 |

One of the lessons I've imbibed from here is that patience is key and defining your own goals. Another is to invest in sound under valued stocks before they rally. For example, I put small patient funds in Neimeth a while back & it's now at 3X up. Patience is very important. Thanks to everyone sharing their knowledge & views here FOR FREE! Buhari ranks as one of the worst things that ever happened to Nigeria - especially his wrecking of the economy.
A socialist should never have been allowed anywhere near Aso Villa when the role needed people that can create/attract mass wealth.
From border closure to maintaining a crippling subsidy regime, he implemented some of the most damaging economic policies that'll take years of serious hardwork to undo. |

On the bolded, I am struggling with a registrar right now. They have deliberately made the process of retrieving my unclaimed dividend & shares difficult. Ultimately I will have to involve SEC. Now that we have NIN, BVN & CSCS Accounts, the amount of unclaimed didivdends & shares is an anomaly. If we add those that died without any estate planning and their families have no supporting documents to claim or dematerialize their dividends; it is safe to say those ones will require divine intervention to be reclaimed. HesInMe: Since you're just starting out, it might help to watch these two videos to get a good street sense of how dividends work. Better than any long grammar anyone can write here.
https://youtu.be/PqGwTNpDCKw?si=Y--8B1QCLAJd7AZ2 https://youtu.be/8Oo8Z2KNVdg?si=jkD-o-PQXPMslulB
More technically:
You are entitled to a dividend payment if 1) a company declares a dividend in a given period during the financial year (it can be "interim" or "final" as the videos explain), and 2) you are listed as a shareholder on the records of that company---records maintained by the company's registrar, on the dividend qualification date. So long as you're on the register by the qualification date, it doesn't matter how long you've held the shares.
Below is an example of Access Bank. Note the financial period (year ended Dec 31); the dividend (final and interim); the qualification and payment dates, which are separate; and information about their registrar and how to e-register (see more below).
https://doclib.ngxgroup.com/Financial_NewsDocs/43801_ACCESS_HOLDINGS_PLC-CORPORATE_ACTION_ANNOUNCEMENT_-_ACCESS_HOLDINGS_PLC_CORPORATE_ACTIONS_APRIL_2025.pdf
So if you're not getting your dividends, technically you must find out who the registrar for the company is and contact them. And you have to do this for each company you own shares in! Thankfully, the Securities & Exchange Commission has centralized this process, so:
- You can search for your unclaimed dividends here, but be warned it's not completely accurate:
https://sec.gov.ng/non-mandated/
- You can just register your "e-dividend mandate" (EDMMS) online using the link below and it'll go to each registrar directly. Make sure to choose a reliable bank account where you want to receive your dividends.
https://docuhub3.nibss-plc.com.ng/edmms/self-service
If after completing the mandate and you still don't hear back, you should email the registrar directly using the email on their website. Then be prepared to wage WW3.
Hope this helps! |

100% agree with this. zendi: 20 Japanese refineries import all their crude oil in the petro-currency, dollars. Japan has no crude oil. But they sell refined products to the domestic market in the local currency. They must also be exporting, but I assume that all operations are done at profit to the refineries..
Nigeria's private refineries should pay for every drop of our crude oil in the petro currency, dollars. To do otherwise would deplete our external reserve and subsidize the export trade of private entities. It will also be subsidizing, unfortunately, both land and sea smuggling of refined petroleum products.
Nigerian refineries will operate even more profitably than their Japanese counterparts because "importing" crude oil from home will eliminate freight (shipping) and Maritime insurance costs from the landing cost, than would be the case if importing crude from abroad. The same for Petroleum marketers if importing products from abroad.
Summary, private refineries should procure crude oil from wherever found, or pay for our own at the international price and currency, then sell products to domestic offtakers at whatever conversion rate that makes them profit, but not in foreign currency.
Competition should checkmate monopoly and excessive price hiking.
I'm just an ordinary citizen observing the Oligarch and the Cabal at each other's throats for control of the nation's petrolieum fortunes. |
