Iran hits Saudi oil facility, Riyadh says trust with Tehran ‘completely shattered’

Iran struck an Aramco site on the Red Sea after similar attacks in Qatar and the UAE; Riyadh warns Tehran's isolation is deepening; escalation will be met with escalation; they reserve right to respond, including militarily

Lior Ben Ari, News Agencies | published:11:31

Saudi sources said Thursday morning that an oil facility belonging to Saudi Aramco was attacked in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, in what appears to be another Iranian retaliatory move against Arab Gulf states amid the war involving their ally, the U.S., alongside Israel, against the Islamic Republic.

The reports came hours after Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan sharply condemned Iranian strikes on his country, as well as on Qatar and the UAE, declaring that any remaining trust in relations with Tehran had been “completely shattered.”

According to the Saudi sources, the Iranian attack on the Yanbu facility caused relatively minor damage. The strike followed earlier Iranian attacks on energy sites in Qatar and the UAE, actions Tehran had warned it would carry out in retaliation for Israeli strikes on its own petrochemical facilities in southern Iran. Yanbu is one of the largest crude oil export hubs for Arab Gulf states, especially since Iran effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz following the outbreak of the war.

Early Thursday, bin Farhan said Riyadh reserves the right to respond using "diplomatic and otherwise" means, including military action, to what he called the Islamic Republic’s “hostile behavior.”

Bin Frhan said that Iran’s insistence on violating the principles of good neighboring undermines regional trust in it, adding that the attacks carried out the previous evening were premeditated, further deepening Tehran’s regional isolation.

Iranian attacks against its neighbors will have consequences, and escalation will be met with escalation, bin Farhan added. Iran’s continued hostile conduct prevents it from being a legitimate partner, he said. He added that there are currently no talks underway to end the war and that he does not know when it might conclude.

The Saudi minister again warned Tehran of a possible response, one that Gulf states targeted by Iran have so far avoided. “If Iran believes Gulf states are incapable of responding, they are wrong,” he said.

Bin Farhan also addressed what he described as Iran’s effective blockade of foreign shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the world’s busiest oil transit route, saying any threat to freedom of navigation requires “collective action.”

His remarks come as European countries have refused calls by U.S. President Donald Trump to join efforts to push Iranian forces out of the strait and reopen it. The Saudi minister added that Iran must also immediately halt its support for proxy groups across the region.

Before noon Thursday, Reuters reported that Arab Gulf states had requested an urgent session of the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva following Iran’s attacks on civilians and energy infrastructure across the Middle East.

In their request, the countries described Iran’s launches of ballistic missiles and drones toward Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE as a situation posing “serious concern for global security and peace,” with severe human rights implications.

They emphasized that the attacks were carried out by Iran without any provocation on their part, although they had guaranteed that their territories would not be used to launch hostile actions against Iran.

The lives of 23 people ended in Maiduguri yesterday. And 146 are critically injured, and lying in the hospital, but nobody is protesting. No placards. Everyone is going about their business as if nothing happened. The useless thief who calls himself president is embarking on a useless state visit to a developed country in Europe with his gang of criminals.

I searched the thread from page to page, I didn't see any comment made by the known retar.ds who are always on every Israel/USA and Iran threads to sympathize with Islamic terrorists.

There's no protest on the streets by religious fanatics who fight for their god. No government official has given any speech, no jobless online cockroaches and donkeys are moving from thread to thread to speak against Islamic terrorism. They're waiting for Iran and USA thread to drop so that they can hit their heads on the floor for Ayatollah.
As long as muslims are the ones doing the killings, no outrage, no protests. Have you heard any news about the Afghanistan-Pakistan war that has killed many? Have yoy heard about the abomination happening at Sudan? These are by muslims.

Nvestor02:
Israel has now officially fallen into the trap set by Hamas, and this will result in a big loss for them in many ways.

One of the ways Israel will surely lose is control over Palestine in this conflict. Many top powers like China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and others are already demanding a Palestinian state.

The establishment of a Palestinian state would have significant implications for the Israeli economy and well-being. Losing it during this difficult economic period will cause a lot of damage to Israel.

Furthermore, Palestine will gain control over important lands that are important to Israel, particularly tourist attractions such as East Jerusalem, Jericho, Hebron, and Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus.

The most significant aspect is that Palestine controls the territory where oil was recently discovered. If they gain independence, it could drastically change the narrative for Palestine and make them a powerful state in the Middle East.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia has cut off relationship negotiations with Israel. Israel highly want a relations with Saudi Arabia because it will allow them to benefit from the high development of the Middle East championed by Saudi Arabia.

If this conflict escalates, the surest outcome is that Israel will lose control of Palestine, and a sovereign Palestinian country will be established with East Jerusalem as its capital.
How far with this your madened last paragraph or conclusion?

Clowns everywhere.

We were never like this until tinubu became President.
Yes we are tribalistic but no politician has ever used it to his advantage until Tinubu.

Tinubu know he is not competent, he doesn't have a good past to fall to, there is no record to show. So the only thing was to use tribalism.

We have had Obasenjo a yoruba man. Yorubas didn't defend his failures.

We had yaradua and Buhari as northerners. Northerners didn't defend their failures.

We have had a SS man as President, the South South didn't defend GEJ failures.

This is the first time someone is actually using tribalism to govern and I smell danger ahead
Every tribe will now defend their devil going forward and it will lead to one thing
We will get to a point were we will no longer cant stay anymore and we will go our separate ways either by understanding or bloodshed through war

Pocohantas1:
Islam is against most things the Democrat party supports in the United States. For instance homosexual/transgender and abortion while the Republicans are against these lifestyles just like Islam.

But why do Muslims from core Islamic countries choose to support or join the Democratic party in the United States?

Take for instance illan Omar, an extreme Muslim from Somalia, she's a member of a party that not just support but promotes gay marriage and abortion and Muslims across the world are hailing her for her actions.

I see this as an agenda by Muslim to capture the United States of America via the Democrat party.
The spirit behind Democrats and the one behind islam na the same spirit. Birds of same feather.

Israeli Air Force strikes Iranian naval vessels in Caspian Sea for first time

Iranian opposition reports say attacks hit port city of Bandar Anzali, home to headquarters of Iranian navy’s Northern Fleet district, marking a major expansion of the war’s geographic scope

Elisha Ben Kimon, Itamar Eichner | published:20:51

The Israeli Air Force on Wednesday carried out its first strike in the Caspian Sea, hitting several Iranian navy vessels in a major expansion of the geographic scope of its campaign against the Islamic Republic.

Iranian opposition media reported explosions in the port city of Bandar Anzali, about 260 kilometers (160 miles) from Tehran. The city is home to one of Iran’s naval headquarters, which was also reportedly struck in the attack. Axios reported that the strike targeted “more than five vessels.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Defense Minister Israel Katz said that “significant surprises are expected across all arenas during the day, and they will escalate the war we are waging against Iran and Hezbollah.” A report on the strike was to be presented to Cabinet ministers later in the evening.

The area hit is about 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) from Israel. The strike represents a severe setback for Iran’s navy, which had already sustained major losses from U.S. military action during the fighting. President Donald Trump has said several times since the war began that Iran’s navy had, in effect, been destroyed.

The Caspian Sea is bordered by Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, all former Soviet republics. According to a 2017 U.S. Navy report, Bandar Anzali is home to the headquarters of the Iranian navy’s Northern Fleet district, which is responsible for the Caspian Sea.

Last July, weeks after the end of the 12-day war between Iran and Israel, the naval arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard held a joint military exercise with Russia’s navy in the Caspian Sea. According to a Revolutionary Guard statement, the drill with Moscow was intended to “raise the level of safety in the Caspian region and strengthen cooperation between the naval forces of Russia and Iran.”

Over the past year, the Caspian Sea has seen clashes between Russia and Ukraine. In December, Ukraine’s SBU security service said it had used drones to strike two Russian oil drilling platforms in the Caspian. The Ukrainian agency identified the platforms as the Filanovsky and Korchagin rigs, which belong to the Russian oil giant Lukoil.
