At one end of the city, There lived a certain man, He was filled with spirit of God, He was a movement, and he shook nations. Things were moving fast at his end. Indeed, he was making impact in the lives of men, His voice echoed through the walls. And men felt a divine presence around his sounds. But something happened, He lost his guards. He was struck with the lusts of life, He was invaded with desires of the rejected. His detractor got him entrapped in his schemes. Did he forget that he was a prime target? How could he not realize how badly they wanted him? Was he ignorant of how much they needed to extinguish his fire? What happened? His zeal was squashed, Has his vision gotten blurry? What about all the powers and abilities? He has become hidden, even in plain sight. Lord, please give me the grace to finish strong. ES

It's a rainy morning. As the rain patters on my roof, I'm reminded of the mercies of God, which is available for all creation. Out of genuine love for the earth and her habitants, The springs of the heavens water the earth, Giving life to all therein, Declaring a new lease of energy to all under her jurisdiction. Not discriminatory are the rains, An emblem of love and no segregation. Nations of all races experience her in different forms, And are never deprived of her benefits. Even those who think you are an accident, Or that you are not the work of a creator, Create out of your bounties, Never really understanding that the quinine found in the cinchona tree doesn't determine the taste of the honeycomb found on the same tree. Every thing can only give what it inherently has. The atmosphere testifies of the goodness of the rains, Bringing calm and settling the dust of life, Purifying the air which sustains life on the earth. How dutiful are you! Rain, you shine so bright. Your illumination give lightness to the tools and machineries of all who till the soil, Thereby prolonging their lives in active service. Rain, you are a life giver. You make light the burdens of farmers and cultivators, You are an enabler of bread to the eater, And sprouter of the sower's seed, Seeds and bread that all lives depend on. At the sight of you, leaves and vegetation leap for joy, You quicken their steps and give them hope of survival. They dance joyfully as you gently cleanse them. How wonderful are your attributes! How even more wonderful and thoughtful is your creator, The one who systemed you perfectly. You are the work of the master's master. Rain, keep shining! Illuminate arid lands and bring abundance upon them. Bring life to all dormant seeds. Excavate buried seeds and infuse your skyward energy upon them. To the glory of He who made you, May the blessings of rain and rain of blessings rest upon me. May the systemic wisdom behind your operations be activated in me. As the rain activates abundance of green and vegetation, drought in all its forms cease and desist from me. May the Lord who fashioned the rains be my God forever, As benevolent as the rains, An attribute given to it by the maker, So shall my benevolence be far reaching, unto the ends of the earth. Rain, Rain, Don't go away in your season, Don't postpone your coming to another day, I, Emeka Stanley will keep playing in you. ES

I feel somehow, I can't even describe it, I literally can't find any words, Even my mouth agrees this is beyond it. No! This is not happiness, I know how it feels to be happy, Happiness can be fleeting, And can be controlled by external things. Even without her knowledge, my lips keeps smiling, I'm sure people who see me smiling on my own will think I'm crazy, Maybe I am. What can you say about a man who has made a choice? There's an expression inside of me, Nothing can boast that it erupted it, There's a limit to how earthly things can make you feel, Their life span is predictable. Is it food? Even as abundant as I have it, it doesn't move me anymore. Is it material things? I'm not in lack, and I'm blessed with contentment. I live above covetousness. I feel like screaming, The build up is uncontrollable, My spirit is boiling with something crazy, Quite spontaneous, but the feeling is beyond me. I love it. I'm jumping and dancing at divine sounds, But even those don't equate the feeling within, Then I speak in unknown tongues, What I say, only God knows. Is it because I look to Yahweh? Is it because my hope is Yahweh? Whatever this is, is divine. No words but this is pure joy. Not just pure joy, but also a crazy joy. ES

My Inheritance are not houses, They are not lands, They are not cars, Neither are they gold nor silver. Are these good? Yes they are, but they are bye-products. The value of my soul is worth much more, Nothing of these can equal. I choose the whole, I choose that which is not fleeting, I choose the root, I choose that which transcends time and space. I choose that which is not vain. My Inheritance is the spirit of the living God, The spirit that quickened all creation, Including all that my heart can ever desire Or that which my eyes can ever behold. It is his empowerment that gives all, He can produce all I want, with absolute peace. I produce all I want, still dedicated to my maker, Knowing that nothing beats abundance in God. Out of my belly domiciled by the Holy Spirit, Shall rivers of all that is good and right flow. What is your own inheritance? My own inheritance is the spirit of God in me. ES

Oh..there's so much noise on the earth, different sounds from different places. Some are targeted, while some are random. Everything seems to have developed speaking organs. But my ears have become tired, So much bombardment. They have become so weary, and this my soul knows. Every part of my body seems to channel sounds to my ears. Is this a personal experience? Now, my ears yearn for tailored messages, The yearns of my spirit have affected what my ears want to hear. Like the erect ears of a caracal, my ear stands, trying to sniff out sounds for my soul. I heard the clank of a pin that falls on the ground, No, it wasn't what I needed to hear. In the tranquility of my soul, so many voices try to speak. It was then I realized that the loudest of voices are heard in silence. But I knew they weren't for me. Like a hungry suckling, my ears keep persuading, "open my ears to hear you". Like the sweetness of man whispering into the ears of a woman that adores him. Whew... So ears can be this hungry, so hungry that nothing can satisfy them, except the voice they want to hear from. You spirit of the Holy One, It is your voice that my ears crave. They are itching to hear you, Your voice is the sounds and rhythms my soul needs. How does your voice sound? Many may say, "Look our for the flaps of an eagle's wings, there you will find it. "Have you heard the roars of a lion? Listen with intent therein. In your voice is found the instructions for living. The secrets of the heavenlies are the compositions of your conversations. I want to hear you, not out of necessity, but of deep affection and intimacy. ES

The dice is cast and it has fallen on me. I have fallen into the category of 'the chosen'. Laden with responsibilities is this dice, and upon my shoulders they rest. The expectations of many is upon me, I've become a farmer, a sower, with so much lands to cultivate. On the lands weeds battle with crops. Some hope I succeed, Some are just watching, basically indifferent, while others silently hope I fail, so that they have justification for their rejection of me. Where is my stand? From where will my strength and Help come from? Humanly, this task is huge, even beyond the capabilities of an ordinary man, Leaving little or no tolerance for mistakes. Mistakes are almost unacceptable. I access my natural strength and weakness, And then I realize that my empowerment must be divine, if I must make headway. I believe in God, and his inclination to help men, I believe in men too, but only those gifted by God. My failure or success is dependent on the help I receive or not. I fret not, I will not lose hope. And then understanding came, I realize that no man owns any work on the earth. Any work a man does, no matter the calling is given to him. He's a field worker, who will account for the work given to him. And the master's delight is in his success. If he is gifted with understanding, he will request for tools that will help him do his job well. With this understanding, I dare to say, Help me Lord! ES

Is there any man left on the earth? I came down to the earth, In search of a man. So much noise I found, yet nothing said, So much presence, yet no substance. Towards me, there seems to be no attention, I love attention, Same I return in folds, Upon the man who gives me. Is there a man who still loves me? Is there any man who still has a heart for me? I'm looking for a man who can still give me his time. Find me a man who can go extra miles for me. Is there any man willing to walk with me? Is there any man who still listens to instructions? Is there still one who still obeys? Is there still that man who trusts in what I can do? Is there still a man who has hope in me? Is there still a prayerful man? Is there still one who approaches me with a sincere heart? Is there still one who wants something real and genuine? Where can I find that man that is not out to test me? So many men, but is there still the man? Is there still a man not deceptive in his ways? Is there still a man whose tongue abhors lies? Is there one who genuinely seeks me? Will I find a man who truly cares about how I feel? Is integrity still a thing? Where can I find a man who still has integrity? Is there any unentangled man out there for me? Is there any man? I seek him. ES

Whose spirit did you carry into the meeting? How strong are you compared to those you compete with? You seem invisible, even with your commanding efforts, Your works speak well of your diligence. You seek promotion, but amongst those who covet same. Are you qualified for the promotion? Yes you are. Have your name popped up for promotion? Yes, severally. Are you skilled and dedicated at your work? Yes you are. Do they see as your threat? Yes they do. But as for you, All you are concerned is about looks, About the aesthetics of your collar, You seek the friendship of those who aren't interested in you. You seek honor from places where you are derided. You walk shoulder high with your years of knowledge, You brag about your capabilities, Yet even those you think you are better than makes the decision that affects you. They preside over the meetings where you should sit in, They decide for you, giving you little or no avenue to exercise your power of choice. Have you not read? With all your knowledge, you seem to lack the most basic of them that, "By strength shall no man prevail, The race is not for the swift". They have made sacrifices to their gods, They have chanted incantations upon the fireplace, Libations have soaked the fabrics of the seats and tables upon which you work, that they be the banners of visibility over you. The world is a battlefield, spirits against Spirits. The man who comes in his manly strength will be a ready meal for the one who has been fortified by spirits. Know this, the battle is not against that man you see, your colleague has nothing to do with it, Cast out the evil spirit in her, and she regrets. Then I ask you once more, what spirit goes ahead of you? ES

Some trust in Government, Others trust in parents and siblings, Friends and acquaintances have been the trust of many. But I put my trust in God, the creator of all things. His name is a shield over me. I'm the most heavily protected man on the earth, Having a retinue of war-ready angels watching guard over me. In God's eyes I have found favor, I have also found favor in the eyes of men, He has caused the eyes of men to honor him by favoring me. I am gifted with men, Kings and Queens arrive at my destination, Their hearts belong to God, And have been carefully guided to my home. I'm divinely catered for, everything belongs to my father, He is the one who gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater. And I'm both a sower and an eater. I make mistakes, yet in love he corrects and disciplines me. I'm not fortunate, I'm blessed, even beyond what I truly merit. In a world of hopelessness, I've found lasting hope, because my hope is rooted in the genuineness and guarantee of his promises. I abound in health, his presence gives strength to my body and soul. I'm renewed daily. Fakeness abounds in the world, Even the eyes doubt what it can swear it sees, But his word has remained static, yet dynamic and effective through all ages. I trust in you Lord, not because of what you can give me or have given, but because you are real. ES

Dear Holy Spirit, I am Stanley, the son of Stephen, a descendant of Abraham. Like everyman, I was conceived, a multiplier effect of God's original directive to Adam. You are the spirit of the most high, You carried out God's declarations. You are the creative force of all that exists, In you is found the light in God's word. Your presence over the waters guaranteed that the waters produced the land and all upon it. All that man ever needs to know is found in the books of your knowledge. You are a great teacher, You turn the ignorant to masters of knowledge. You are the Chief reminder, You quicken great memories and ensure nothing valuable is forgotten. You have the clock of everything, Yet you are not time bound. You are set apart, a holy entity with impeccable characteristics. You are the Chief custodian of mysteries; mysteries to man but common knowledge to you. You go ahead of the creative word of God to refine the earth, Ensuring that even the invisible pillars of the earth are energized and maintained daily. Divine wisdom has her roots firmly rooted in you. You are both loud and silent at the same time, applying your personality where it's suited in real time. Your tone may be low but your voice, the echoes and the resultant effects are very far reaching, even to the ends of the earth. Your works are eternal, Your presence is intoxicating like fine wine that has aged well. There's more to you that I'll never know, at least while I still wear this earthly suit called flesh. Then again, You need a body to function maximally on the earth. Holy Spirit, there is me. I'm here. I'm available. I'm affirming that. Purify me and do your thing. Let not my body just be a temple for thy worship, but also an outlet for expressing yourself through words and deeds, you spirit of wonders. In my walks and works of life, in my vocation, in my calling, in my office, as I relate with people and the earth, may I exhibit your attributes in every dimension. I accept the fusion of my human spirit with you, so there's no separation. Bound by the greatest force ever made, shaken and pressed, I overflow with your presence like a river with no limitations. No, I need not tell anyone that I'm am filled with you, of that I definitely have no interest. I have no need to convince anyone of my fusion with you. At the sight of cubs, everyone knows that a lioness had mated with a lion. But with both human and divine senses, they'll exclaim of me, "the spirit and power of the Holy one is resident and manifested in him." Yours Faithfully ES

God in heaven, You are the maker of all things. You are the master strategist, everything is in perfect order. You receive praise from all you've made, whether they know it or not. A piece of you is found in every work of your hands. And to each work you've given a purpose to fulfill. This includes man whom you made in your own image and likeness. Father the creator, You gave man the earth to manage as a whole. But due to the humongous work involved in managing the earth and its fullness, you shared tasks among men. Each you gave his own role, and this role is his purpose. My Lord and my God, Please what is my own role? What am I doing on the earth? For what specific purpose did you make me? What responsibilities are weaved into the fabrics of my existence? I know I'm not here by chance. Please don't let my space be vacant Lord, Or let someone else take it. I'm willing and available to do that which you have for me, So I do not fail you, the earth and myself. Please forgive my non-chalance, and ignorance, Look away from my faults of the past. Open my eyes to see your way for me, Show me what you want me to do, So that by your grace, I'll do my own job and no one else's. I desire that your will be done, not mine. No man will ever be fulfilled without being in his rightful place, Please save me from the trauma of an unfulfilled life, To the glory of your name and the coming of your kingdom on the earth. ES

Like a groom yearning to meet her new bride in a distant land, so I yearn to return to my kingdom. I was betrayed by those I trusted, they ganged up against me. They sought to kill me, But I escaped by whiskers. Strangers occupy my palace, Parading the royal courts and desecrating the sacred stools of my ancestors. They mock our traditions and despise all we've built for ages. Who are these men? My people are under a strange government, Our traditions are being soiled. They are introducing strange and wicked practices, and forcing them upon my people. My people are under bondage, and I'm exiled. Oh Lord, my God, You are the ruler over all lands and kings. The earth in its fullness are in your hands. You gave my people a place to call their own, And they chose me as a king over their affairs. My people out of benevolence accommodated these strangers. Now, we are victims of attacks from these same people. The throne has been forcefully taken from me, They deployed arms and foot soldiers against me. They preyed on our kindness, They took advantage of our welcoming arms. I call upon you this day, Lord of the Universe, Save the people consecrated to you. Strike confusion upon these invaders, Let their arms and swords pierce through their own hearts. Infuse the spirit of rebellion upon my people, That they may rebel brutally against these invaders, Give them the unquenchable thirst to see my return. May they never be satisfied until I reclaim my throne. Then all nations shall know that you O Lord crown kings and preserve their dynasty. And lasting peace shall dwell on this Kingdom that acknowledges you. ES

In the course of studying of Exodus 3, I read it repeatedly to see areas that will speak to me the most. A lot of the verses spoke to me, like Moses seeing a burning grass that is not charred. It's a mystery. I believe God used that to draw his attention. Fortunately, the mind of Moses was still alive and curious, that he sought to understand this strange phenomenon, and it became an encounter. A lot of people have stifled their spirit of curiosity. You need a certain level of curiosity to have an encounter with God. God has tried many times to draw our attention to some things, but it's either we are to busy, afraid or no longer curious. Curiosity keeps our mind active. Asides this, chapter 8 and chapter 17 stood out the more. They were saying the same thing; more like God was trying to emphasize on something. Those verses kept mentioning that People already lived in a land that God has prepared for the Israelites. How was God going to give others a place already inhabited by others? Why not a Virgin land cordoned off and reserved for God's chosen people? How can you ever convince the people already there, that the land they are in belongs to slaves somewhere, and they'll be coming to possess the land soon? I think the manner with which Israel possessed their land is still the reason why they are having issues till this day. Thinking further on those verses, here are what my spirit could make out of them; 1. Your possession/inheritance can actually be in the hands of someone as you read this. Someone could be flexing all what God has prepared for you on the earth, while God prepares you for takeover. 2. You need to be shown. God has to show you your possession. And he's the only one that can empower you to take it. If you go to possess it without revelation and empowerment, you may not be alive to tell the story. 3. God doesn't like anything not being put into use, be it out of ignorance, abandonment or in the case of the Israelites, captivity. While the Israelites were in captivity, God allowed some other people to be making use of all the bounties of the land. They tilled the lands and enjoyed the proceeds thereof This is because whatever is not being used risks being lost. This is a principle. 4. Don't be scared to dominate in an area of interest. Muslims fight jihad because of this. The come in sprinkles, infiltrate the place and then take up arms for total dominion. All the places/nations they occupy today is with this strategy. But as children of God, we can dominate by spreading God's word with power. We can also dominate economically as well. ES

I read the first chapter of the book of Esther, and I find it absolutely engaging, interesting, educative and cautionary. It tells the story of kingly splendor, opulence and dominion. Imagine being a king over 127 provinces, stretching all the way from India to Sudan in Africa, with the capital city being Shush, an archeological spread found in Khuzestan province of modern day Iran. These stories are real, they happened. But in the midst of this kingly grandeur, something remarkable happened that infused a different trajectory into the Kingdom. The king by name Xerxes, was having a banquet in Shush, where he invited all the men in the city. It was a show for the king, he wanted to flaunt wealth in all its human and material dimensions. At a point during the banquet, he wanted to show off his wife too. His wife, Queen Vashti, was an incredibly beautiful woman, a perfect rendition of bodily rhymes and rhythms. Imagine when a king is enthusiastic to use his wife to score both kingdom and ego points. She must be truly stunning. So the king sent his seven servants to go and ask the Queen to come. But she refused. Why, Queen Vashti, why? Was it divinely orchestrated? It was a bad call. This was an insult to the King himself, to his throne, to the servants and to the guests as well. You could go free if you disrespected the king in his bedroom, but on his kingly orders, you could get killed. Luckily, she wasn't killed. But the question is, "Why did the king do this? "Why didn't he overlook it"? It was clear that the king loved the Queen a lot, but this was beyond love, it wasn't a personal issue anymore. It had become a Kingdom issue. He summoned his advisers and asked their opinions. And it was agreed that the Queen must be used to set an example in the kingdom. Consequently, she was stripped of her crown and banished from the presence of the king for as long as she lived. As wise as they were, they knew that if they allowed the Queen, it will send a very wrong message across the entire kingdom. Wives will begin to disrespect their husbands, they'll begin to look down on them. They'll think, "if the Queen can disobey the King and have her honor intact, who are you that I can't disrespect ". Even beyond the wives disrespecting their husbands, the king will be perceived as weak, a perception that can ruin his kingdom and cause uprising or rebellion against him. Kings never publicly show any sign of weakness. So this was also about his throne. For the sake wisdom, please do not take advantage of familiarity to disobey someone in their line of duty, especially when they are in the public eye, else you may lose the privileges of familiarity. If they must retain their full control, they must make you face the consequences. Again, the stability of any group of people is dependent on their adherence to their set laws. Every organization, family, nation and institutions have laws that safeguard their maximal sustenance. These laws also ensure there is orderliness. Compromise kills laws faster than you can imagine. Compromise in any form leads to anarchy and complete breakdown of systems. This is a classic case of Nigeria. Nigeria is on the brink of collapse because the systems are severely compromised. Adequate punishment for broken laws serve as deterrent to would-be offenders. If a law must be effective, there must be unreserved punishment of those who go against such laws, without any form of favoritism. So much to say on this chapter, but let's stop here for now. ES

Gosh! The world is dark! Darker than the deepest parts of the ocean are the hearts of the wicked, Who can decipher what is therein? They cast evil on the face of the earth, deliberately choking people's will to live, In order to lure them into dungeons, While disguised as angels of light. Lack of direction pervades the air, Rains of confusion everywhere. Depression has become the confession of many. A lot have betrayed themselves and committed suicide, Choosing it as the easier way out. They were wrong about that. But I shine, Your light shines on me. Brighter than the day's greater light, I blaze on, For your word is cast upon my soul and spirit. My trust is in you, My eyes are fixated on you, Oh maker. Like a sharp sword, I Pierce through darkness, Illuminating crevices, so there's no hiding place. Your footsteps give direction, Like a calf following its mother. Your instructions give clarity, And the joy found in you is energetic. Like a panting dog, I'm regulated by your word, Breathe your word upon my members, Give your light upon them, that I never stumble. Your word is my light. ES

Like a root still alive and can always send up new shoots, is a man who has obtained mercy from the Lord. For the sake of your name Lord, have mercy on me. Like a suckling dependent on her mother's breast, my soul craves for you. Feed me that I might live. Grant me the privilege of your inner courts. Bring me to a place where my knees tremble at your presence. Like Gold through furnace, purify me and find me spotless, that I take a seat in your holy of holies. My Lord and My God. My heart cries, my spirit weeps. I feel empty without you. I am a mighty vessel, and nothing else can fill me but you. Is it difficult to see you? How intimate can one ever get with you? How impossible is it to say, "Yes I met with God in his fullness? With you nothing is impossible. Let me experience you in your fullness, I'll speak of the wonders found in your dwelling place, I'll declare what I have seen, and it will be evident that I met you. Who am I? Just a man fashioned like unto you. Without your essence, I'm like a well glazed jar of clay that can't hold oils. Fill me with yourself, that I overflow with the sweet scent of you, That your presence speaks even before I open my mouth. Let me be an outlet for all your works of wisdom and understanding on the earth. Through me, let the works of your spirit thrive on the earth, so that your will be done. ES

I just read an interesting story. Israel, from history has been a nation that God has taken special interest in their affairs. God wants to be involved in all they do. There came a time when one of her kings by name Ahaziah fell down from the roof of his balcony and got seriously injured. Instead of him to enquire from God about his recovery, he sent messengers to go enquire from soothsayers outside of Israel. This angered God and he sent a prophet by name Elijah to go tell his messenger that the king won't recover from the injuries. The messenger went and told the king. Instead of him to ask for forgiveness and be humble before God, he ordered soldiers to go and fetch Elijah the prophet. Now, take note of these; When the first batch of soldiers (50 soldiers and a leader), got to where Elijah was, their leader arrogantly said to Elijah, " Man of God, the king orders you to come down". Just like they declared , Elijah stood on that authority as a man of God and commanded fire from heaven to raze them down, and so it was. The king stubbornly sent another batch of same number of soldiers like the first time. They got to Elijah, repeated the exact same lines. Elijah gave them the same response like he did the first and they got burnt. For the third time, the king sent another group of same number of soldiers, the leader seemed to have the spirit of wisdom, and this saved his life and the lives of his men. When he got to Elijah, he fell on his knees and pleased, "Be merciful to me and my men. Spare our lives." It is recorded that at that instance, an angel of the Lord instructed Elijah to follow this soldier and go answer the King. And Elijah did just that. There are countless lessons from this event. But the purpose of this write up is to point out how a wise manner of approach saved the life of a man and those under him. From this story, it shows God is very sensitive to manner of approach. A good manner of approach is always accompanied by an angel of fulfillment. God can intervene in your situation if you deploy a humble manner of approach, even if you did something wrong. A bad manner of approach can kill you and God won't intervene. Humans can be gatekeepers, and whatever they decide can be binding on you, especially if you are under their spiritual or physical jurisdiction. If your manner of approach doesn't show humility, sensitivity to spiritual/physical authority, God cannot help you. This is a law. Even the scripture says, "God resists the proud". Approach everyone from a place of humility, and your chances of being attended to increases significantly. ES

In the world today, especially in nations facing security issues, being struck by stray bullets is something that happens once in a while. But there was a time a stray arrow killed a king. At one time in ancient Israel, there was a king named Ahab. He enjoyed relative peace with his neighbor Syria for 2 years but suddenly remembered that there was a city to take when his counterpart, King Jehoshaphat of Judah visited him. So he proposed they joined forces together and take over the city called Ramoth in Gilead, and Jehoshaphat agreed. Ahab was wise enough to seek the voice of God on this issue. So he summoned about 400 prophets in Israel to enquire of God. They all agreed that God will give him Victory. Jehoshaphat sensing that something might be off asked him if there was another prophet to enquire from. Ahab said Yes, but that he hated that prophet because he never prophesied anything good about him. He beckoned that the prophet be fetched. In fact, the court official who went to Fetch Micaiah the Prophet tried to sway him to prophesy in line with the other 400 prophets and he almost fell for it, until Ahab demanded the truth. Micaiah went on to Tell Ahab how his death has already been orchestrated in the spirit. It was a distinct revelation of "this is how your death was orchestrated. If you proceed with this war, you'll die. If you don't, you'll still be alive". During the meeting on Ahab's death plan, all the prophets who sided Ahab's war ploy was to be cast with a spirit of deception, lies and sycophancy. And Ahab was informed but he didn't listen. Consequently, Ahab ordered that prophet Micaiah be arrested and imprisoned until he returned from the war. Ahab and Jehoshaphat set out for the war. Meanwhile, either by espionage or prophecy, Ahab had realized that he was the primary target. The Syrian king had ordered his soldiers to ensure they eliminate Ahab as a priority. So he disguised himself while Jehoshaphat was dressed in his kingly attire. On the day of the war, the syrians sighted Jehoshaphat and pursued him, mistaking him for Ahab. They pursued him so much that he cried out that he wasn't Ahab, and they left him. He wasn't their primary target. Meanwhile the disguised Ahab fully clothed in armour was somewhere around when a stray arrow from a random Syrian soldier struck him through the joint of his armour. This ultimately led to his death. And that's how he ended. That's how the war ended too. This is a sad ending really but it is lesson laden. Here are a few of them; 1. Do not hate dissenting opinions or hate the bearers. Be open minded to criticisms that do not align with that of the majority. Your lifeline might be found in the dissenting view. 2. It's okay to have a different opinion. Don't feel intimidated or pressured to align with public opinion. You could be the only one in the crowd with the spirit of truth. 3. Politically, even Israel of ancient times was into espionage. There was no way Ahab would have found out that he was the primary target by the syrians without some form of espionage. Today, one of the reasons why Israel is still on the world map is because they are masters of espionage. 4. Discernment is a gift that every human should have. If Ahab had it, he would have still been alive. Lack of discernment can kill. 5. God offered Ahab a lifeline by revealing his intentions through the prophet but he was too proud to accept it. There's a popular saying; "Pride goes before a fall". 6. Be humble, stay in touch with God with whatever gift you have and stand with the truth at all times, else you could innocently be a channel of deception or destruction to others, just like the 400 prophets. 7. Genuinely Run things through God and find out he's with you on it. Immediately Ahab died, everyone returned home. 8. There's something called 'Mercy' and it is a saving grace. One way to know you still have access to God's mercy is if you still accept advice, corrections or divine instructions. If you find yourself in a situation whereby you don't have ears for such again, it is a clear sign that the doors of mercy have been shut against you, and you are billed for destruction. It is safe to say that the door of mercy was shut against Ahab. The war was a set up to destroy him. Ahab's story recorded by Jeremiah in the book of First Kings chapter 22 is heartbreaking and thought-provoking. God help us. Emeka Stanley

Earlier today I read the story of the flood captured by Moses in the book of Genesis chapter 7. The Bible is never bereft of mysteries, in an interesting way. It's a book one can enjoy reading without even being a Christian. But the deep things of every written word therein needs interpretation and understanding, and that's where the Holy Spirit comes in. That chapter records the beginning of the flood that destroyed the earth and the steps God took to preserve the things he created on the earth. After reading that chapter, some things pricked my mind, and I thought to share; 1. God is very family oriented. God specifically told Noah that he was the only one that does what is right at that time. But Noah wasn't the only human that God saved in the boat. He was there with his wife, his 3 sons and their wives. Because of Noah, these people were to be saved too. This means that God can show mercy on your entire family because of you. God can save you because of someone in your family. 2. God saved animals, in fact every kind of animal on the earth. He was specific about 7 pairs - male and female, of each animal that he called 'clean' and a pair he called 'unclean'. This was because he wanted the cycle of the earth's inhabitants to continue reproducing and multiplying. Another reason is because God was literally done with the works of creation. Whatever was found on the earth and will be discovered in years to come are all part of what God has already created. Again, 7 and its multiples are very symbolic in creation, sustenance and agenda of life. There is something about the number 7 that is god like. 3. It takes 40 days for anything done on a daily to either be destroyed or begin rejuvenation. If there's any character you want to develop or drop, get to it for 40 days non stop. It will take roots in you. 4. The earth as we stand on it is suspended by pillars on water. The earth is like a bridge built on water. The waters of the world have a key with many outlets, stopping it from over running the earth and swallowing it up. It's recorded that the flood which destroyed the earth swallow every mountain on the earth. Do you know how tall the highest mountain is? These flood swallowed it It was these outlets that God opened that flooded the earth, ensuring that everything was wiped out. There's too much water on the earth that can't be estimated. The mysteries of water can never be exhausted. For now, let's just be drinking enough of it. 5. This one is a bit scientific, for those who are inclined to boat or ship works. The capacity of any size of boat/ship to float on water depends on the depth of that water. This means if you want your boat or ship to sail effortlessly, you must take cognizance of the depth of the waters the boat is meant to sail on. Small boat, shallow waters, big boats deep waters. Proverbially, to move great things, you must have deep roots in God and the things of God, and the deeper you are, the more strength you can pull. The stories give real insight on how God related with early humans, and literally, the principles of existence. I'll stop here for now. Emeka Stanley

I just read an interesting piece. When King Saul of ancient Israel died, his son took the reigns of leadership. On the other hand, David was already made king of Judah, a section of the country who were inclined to David's leadership. Important to note these places were under the jurisdiction of Saul before his death but by divine orchestration, David was to take over the reigns over all of Israel. This leadership and loyalty issues caused bitter wars between Saul's son Ishbosheth who succeeded him and David. As expected, their men were on each other's throat. They fought duels to the death. It is recorded that an experienced commander of Saul by name Abner, was at a time being pursued by a young fighter from David's camp. His name, Asahel. For some reason, Abner wasn't all out to kill him. While Asahel was chasing Abner to kill, he warned Asahel to redirect his chase to any other soldier, catch him, kill him and loot him. But I guess Asahel wanted to score a huge point by killing Abner who was a strong man in Saul's camp. When Abner realized that the young man wouldn't listen and was all out to kill him, he turned sharply and thrust his spear through his stomach. As expected, Asahel's brothers Joab and Abishai who were also fighters started out against Abner to avenge their brother's death. These guys were on the side of David. Abner ran to a fortress, surrounded by men loyal to him, he SPOKE out to Joab and Abishai; " Do we have to go on fighting for ever? Can't you see that in the end, there will be nothing but bitterness? We are your fellow country men. How long will it be before you order your men to stop chasing us?" Joab answered him, " I swear by the living God, that if you had not spoken, my men would have kept chasing you till tomorrow morning." Summarily, Joab and his men returned home. Whether Abner was sincere when he spoke out, or he used it buy time, that's not the purpose of this write up. The point is, it worked very well. Life is all about wars and battles, both wanted and unwanted. If you are able to point out the wars you are fighting, maybe you ask yourself, * Is this war really necessary? A lot of people are fighting unnecessary wars. It's a terrible way to live. Don't drain out your life over something you can put a hold on. * Have you spoken up about this war or battle? If you don't speak up about a war or battle, there's every possibility that you'll fight it for a longer time. A lot of wars are fuelled by Silence or indifference, which in life means consent. Speak up can also come also be in the form of prayers and declarations for personal or spiritual battles. Just speak. * Have you made your opponent understand how unnecessary the war is? If you know who or what you are fighting, have you used logic, emotions, humanity or sheer authority to intimate your opponent on the reason why the war is unnecessary? * What areas of common interests do you have with your opponent? I have come to realize both by interpersonal relationships and observations that people have valid areas of common interests than they'll ever realize. The day the nation of Israel and her neighbors realize that they have a lot in common, and see each other from that lens, they'll subscribe to stability in the middle east, willingly. Most wars are justified on differences. More than not, colleagues at work are not friends, they are just bound to work together from a place of common interest, to the benefits of the organization. This shows we mustn't be friends before we choose to sheath our swords. When individuals, organizations and nations realize the potency of extending an olive branch through this principle, everyone will sheath their swords and go home, at least for the moment. The principle is simple, speak up, talk about it, pray about, discuss it. Make your mind believe the war is unnecessary, no matter what. Choose to highlight the negative sides. Find a place of common interests and build on it This must be a consistent exercise, lest the opponents forget why the war stopped and resume at the battle field. Emeka Stanley

Lalasticlala, NlFPMOD, seun, please can we get more views on this? |
The Bible, aside its religious connotation, is such an interesting read. The historical value is more than a masterpiece. So I'm reading the Chapter 6 of Genesis where Moses recorded that there was a time heavenly beings which I believe could be fallen angels, found human women attractive and started copulating with them, resulting to the production of very gigantic beings on the earth. Because the seed was corrupt, this caused the spread of terrible sins on the earth prompting God to ask for the ark to be built, so he could destroy the earth with flood. That story is thought-provoking. And here are a few things that pricked my mind while I scanned through that chapter; 1. Humans are actually very good looking. For angels to find women attractive means they'd never seen anything like them. I think humans may actually look physically more attractive than angels. Again, note that even defiant angels found women attractive, not men. This means the angels had manly features, and at a point could switch on human dimensions. I also think angels don't come in female forms. God didn't create female angels. 2. There might still be sprinkles of fallen angels on the earth. Are they still actively producing offspring with human women, I can't say because the Bible wasn't explicit about it. But are there descendants still on the earth? Very possible. One way to know one who could be is by defying natural odds to do something very heroic and outstanding. People who are also very extreme when it comes to doing bad things could also be descendants of those fallen angels. 3. God regretted creating man. You can imagine the level of wickedness that will make God regret creating a being that the Bible recorded was made in his image and likeness. It means the corruption of man and the level of wickedness then was abysmal. Just imagine a mother looking at a child she labored to deliver and painfully regretting why she gave birth to the child. This can be heartbreaking. Again, I believe without any doubt that no level of atrocity on the earth is new, even now. I also think it may not have reached the peak it was before the destruction by flood, but it's getting there. 4. Noah's ark was actually longer than a FIFA standard football field. It was also 40ft high, 3 decking. That was definitely a wooden massive ship on the ocean. 5. The ocean is a different world on its own. Nothing in the ocean was destroyed. Only land animals needed to be saved from the flood. I'm literally scared of what is in the ocean deep. Only God knows. But it's unimaginable what is there. Anyways, just felt like sharing this as it dropped in mind after reading that chapter. Quite random I know. But, what are your thoughts on that chapter? Emeka Stanley.

There are some things Tinubu will do as President that will not be counted as 'Sin' for him. But If I do it, it will be sin. For instance, if Tinubu goes to the field to kill terrorist or gives that order, it won't be a sin because it is in line with his calling. But I can't do that, it will be counted as sin because at present, it is not in line with my calling. As a Pastor, what exactly is your end goal in getting a tattoo on camera at 50? To someone else, it might not be sin, but to you, what is your goal? Of what use is that to your calling? How does it make you a better Pastor? What message are you sending to the naïve young people? A lot of Pentecostal Pastors need guidance. ES
